A new type of continuous hybrid tool wear estimator is proposed in this paper. It is structured in the form of two modules for classification and estimation. The classification module is designed by using an analytic fuzzy logic concept without a rule base. Thereby, it is possible to utilize fuzzy logic decision-making without any constraints in the number of tool wear features in order to enhance the module robustness and accuracy. The final estimated tool wear parameter value is obtained from the estimation module. It is structured by using a support vector machine nonlinear regression algorithm. The proposed estimator implies the usage of a larger number and various types of features, which is in line with the concept of a closer integration between machine tools and different types of sensors for tool condition monitoring. 相似文献

This paper proposes a novel mold modification tool path regeneration algorithm for three-axis CNC machining based on ball end-mills. It utilizes the existing tool path points that have been generated for the original mold design prior to modification. With the proposed algorithm, a closed profile of the tool path points for the boundary of the modified region is first calculated. It is proven that if the boundary of the mold modification is interference-free, only the tool path points inside this boundary are affected by the mold modification. The tool path points that are outside the boundary can be reused to machine the modified mold. When the affected tool path points are detected, they are removed and replaced by the new tool path points. The scallop height values for the modified region are then checked. If the scallop height is greater than the given value, more CL points are added to this region to maintain the required surface finish. The algorithm has been tested on several industrial parts, and it is proven to be efficient and robust. The generated new tool path is interference-free and meets the required surface finish. 相似文献

We designed and implemented an edutainment platform, Dreamware. It effectively helps education, sensibility treatment and intelligence training for children with developmental disability. We developed special toy-like hardware and software tools: a content authoring tool that makes a variety of multimedia content operating on the hardware, a management tool that provides training results to instructors, and a real-time monitoring tool to observe the current state of learning. The hardware is designed to consider the characteristics of children with developmental disability. It can provide sensibility training, such as visual, auditory, and tactile senses to them. The easy-to-use authoring tool enables teachers and non-specialists to make educational content conveniently. In addition, the real-time monitoring tool helps observe the user’s status, even outside the classroom. The management tool stores training results and provides the result for further steps. Efficient repetitive training is possible without restriction of time and location using this platform. Software product development is a highly collaborative activity, where teams of developers need to collaborate to produce a system. It is also a domain where systems are used to try to help the developers coordinate their work. This paper describes the results of an empirical study of the use of one such system, a configuration management tool. Specifically it describes three aspects of the support that the tool provides: the challenges of representing the work, the need to support both individuals and groups working together, and how the assumptions about software development built into the tool interact with others in the organization. The study suggests that long after the initial adoption the tool and the organization continue to interact with each other. It also opens up questions for empirical studies of the organizational context behind the tool usage.This work was supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Researcch Council, United Kingdom. A wide variety of tool condition monitoring techniques has been introduced in recent years. Among them, tool force monitoring, tool vibration monitoring and tool acoustics emission monitoring are the three most common indirect tool condition monitoring techniques. Using multiple intelligent sensors, these techniques are able to monitor tool condition with varying degrees of success. This paper presents a novel approach for the estimation of tool wear using the reflectance of cutting chip surface and a back propagation neural network. It postulates that the condition of a tool can be determined using the surface finish and color of a cutting chip. A series of experiments has been carried out. The experimental data obtained was used to train the back propagation neural network. Subsequently, the trained neural network was used to perform tool wear prediction. Results show that the prediction is in good agreement with the flank wear measured experimentally. 相似文献

This paper presents an on-the-fly and symbolic technique for efficiently checking timed automata emptiness. It is symbolic because it uses the simulation graph (instead of the region graph). It is on-the-fly because the simulation graph is generated during the test for emptiness. We have implemented a verification tool called Profounder based on this technique. To our knowledge, Profounder is the only available tool for checking emptiness of timed Büchi automata. To illustrate the practical interest of our approach, we show the performances of the tool on a non-trivial case study. 相似文献

A method is proposed for generating tool centre paths with an accuracy equal to the resolution of the machine tool. The method exploits the properties of Bertrand curves and surfaces, to generate tool motion which secures the desired degree of continuity in the machined contour or surface. It is shown that for cubic splines or bicubic patches, accurate tool motion can be generated by a fast DDA-like (Digital Differential Analyser) digital integration scheme, which reduces integration to successive additions. A system using process and forms to give managers and tool evaluators a reliable way to identify the tool that best fits their organization's needs is discussed. It is shown that a tool evaluator must analyze user needs, establish selection criteria (including general criteria, environment-dependent criteria, tool-dependent functional criteria, tool-dependent nonfunctional criteria, and weighting), search for tools, select the tools, and then reevaluate the tools. Forms for recording tool selection criteria, classifying testing tools, profiling tool-to-organization interconnections, creating hardware and software profiles, and creating tool-interconnection profiles are presented. It is crucial for any manager to keep a close watch on customer satisfaction, customer loyalty and the customer’s intention to recommend the company. In this article, a new decision support tool is developed to support a manager with this task. This tool has been developed with companies in mind that posses limited customer satisfaction data. It uses model-based knowledge discovery to extract the customer’s expectation and the expectation-performance compatibility from the data. Two hypotheses are formulated which posit that compatibility between product performance and customer expectation have a positive influence on the customer’s intentions. Both hypotheses are supported by the data. Finally, a decision support tool is developed which visualizes the impact of customer satisfaction, product performance and expectation-performance compatibility on the customer’s intentions. Tool sequence selection is an important activity in process-planning for milling and has great bearing on the cost of machining.
Currently, it is accomplished manually without consideration of cost factors a priori. Typically, a large tool is selected
to quickly generate the rough shape and a smaller clearing tool is used to generate the net-shape. In this paper, we present
a new systematic method to select the optimal sequence of tool(s), to machine a 2.5-axis pocket given pocket geometry, a database
of cutting tools, cutting parameters, and tool holder geometry. Algorithms have been developed to calculate the geometric
constructs such as accessible areas, and pocket decomposition, while considering tool holders. A Genetic Algorithm (GA) formulation
is used to find the optimal tool sequence. Two types of selection mechanisms namely “Elitist selection” and “Roulette method”
are tested. It is found that the Elitist method converges much faster than the Roulette method. The proposed method is compared
to a shortest-path graph formulation that was developed previously by the authors. It is found that the GA formulation generates
near optimal solutions while reducing computation by up to 30% as compared to the graph formulation. 相似文献
