Optimal Gabor filters for texture segmentation   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10  
Texture segmentation involves subdividing an image into differently textured regions. Many texture segmentation schemes are based on a filter-bank model, where the filters, called Gabor filters, are derived from Gabor elementary functions. The goal is to transform texture differences into detectable filter-output discontinuities at texture boundaries. By locating these discontinuities, one can segment the image into differently textured regions. Distinct discontinuities occur, however, only if the Gabor filter parameters are suitably chosen. Some previous analysis has shown how to design filters for discriminating simple textures. Designing filters for more general natural textures, though, has largely been done ad hoc. We have devised a more rigorously based method for designing Gabor filters. It assumes that an image contains two different textures and that prototype samples of the textures are given a priori. We argue that Gabor filter outputs can be modeled as Rician random variables (often approximated well as Gaussian rv's) and develop a decision-theoretic algorithm for selecting optimal filter parameters. To improve segmentations for difficult texture pairs, we also propose a multiple-filter segmentation scheme, motivated by the Rician model. Experimental results indicate that our method is superior to previous methods in providing useful Gabor filters for a wide range of texture pairs.  相似文献

Gabor filters are widely applied in image analysis and computer vision applications. This paper describes a fast algorithm for isotropic complex Gabor filtering that outperforms existing implementations. The main computational improvement arises from the decomposition of Gabor filtering into more efficient Gaussian filtering and sinusoidal modulations. Appropriate filter initial conditions are derived to avoid boundary transients, without requiring explicit image border extension. Our proposal reduces up to 39% the number of required operations with respect to state-of-the-art approaches. A full C++ implementation of the method is publicly available.  相似文献

For almost three decades the use of features based on Gabor filters has been promoted for their useful properties in image processing. The most important properties are related to invariance to illumination, rotation, scale, and translation. These properties are based on the fact that they are all parameters of Gabor filters themselves. This is especially useful in feature extraction, where Gabor filters have succeeded in many applications, from texture analysis to iris and face recognition. This study provides an overview of Gabor filters in image processing, a short literature survey of the most significant results, and establishes invariance properties and restrictions to the use of Gabor filters in feature extraction. We address the issue of textured image segmentation in the context of the Gabor feature space of images. Gabor filters tuned to a set of orientations, scales and frequencies are applied to the images to create the Gabor feature space. A two-dimensional Riemannian manifold of local features is extracted via the Beltrami framework. The metric of this surface provides a good indicator of texture changes and is used, therefore, in a Beltrami-based diffusion mechanism and in a geodesic active contours algorithm for texture segmentation. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with that of the edgeless active contours algorithm applied for texture segmentation. Moreover, an integrated approach, extending the geodesic and edgeless active contours approaches to texture segmentation, is presented. We show that combining boundary and region information yields more robust and accurate texture segmentation results.  相似文献

LOFDM(Lattice Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing )是时频弥散信道上的一种高速数据传输技术。但当LOFDM系统的脉冲成形滤波器不具有最优的时频局域化特性时,必将引入严重的ISI和/或ICI。因此脉冲成形滤波器的设计是最优LOFDM系统设计的重要组成部分。Strohmer和Beav(2001,2003)给出了一种LOFDM脉冲成形滤波器的设计方法,但是计算量较大。为此,该文提出了一种广义Gabor变换,通过构造广义紧致Gabor原子来完成最佳LOFDM脉冲成形滤波器的设计的数值实现。理论分析和仿真试验都证明该方法比Strohmer和Beaver给出的方法更简单有效。  相似文献

提取有效的特征用于纹理描述和分类一直是纹理分析的难点.本文提出一种结合Gabor滤波器和ICA技术的纹理特征提取方法,即纹理图像首先经过Gabor滤波器组滤波,然后由滤波图像直接构建高维特征矢量;再将这些高维特征矢量通过主成分分析PCA进行降维,最后采用ICA技术分析和提取降维后的特征矢量中的独立成分用于纹理分类.通过与经典Gabor滤波器和ICA方法的对比实验,验证和评价了本文方法的性能.  相似文献

面对采集的指纹图像质量较差的问题,提出一种在小波域对指纹图像滤波增强算法。该算法在小波域进行Ga-bor滤波增强,通过Radon变换后的投影估计Gabor滤波的方向和频率,对滤波增强后的子图进行小波重构得到最后的结果,有效地抑制高频扰动对指纹图像质量的影响,提高运算速度和准确性。通过对FVC2000指纹库中的部分低质量指纹图像进行增强,表明该算法对指纹图像的增强效果明显,并且处理速度较快。  相似文献

In this paper, we present a three-stage approach to incorporation of texture analysis into a two-dimensional active contour segmentation framework. This approach allows to utilise texture information alongside other image features. The proposed method starts with an initial unsupervised feature computation and selection, then moves to a fast contour evolution process and ends with a final refinement stage. The algorithm is designed to be general in its nature and not restricted to any particular texture feature extraction method. In this paper, the initial stage generates a set of feature maps consisting of grey-level co-occurrence matrix and Gabor features. The implementation makes an extensive use of hardware acceleration for efficient calculation of a relatively large number of features. The performance of the method was tested on various synthetic and natural images and compared with results of other algorithms.  相似文献

We describe the analog CMOS VLSI implementation of a cellular neural network (CNN) architecture which spatially filters a 2D image by two orientation selective image filters. The image is represented by a set of input currents supplied by an on-chip array of photosensors. The filters are similar to even and odd Gabor filters. The CNN architecture is implemented using two resistive networks coupled by transconductance amplifiers. The tuned orientation can be steered and the filter response scaled by adjusting the conductances of the resistors and gains of the transconductance amplifiers through externally supplied bias voltages. The circuit operation is explained via a variational principle, which defines the filter output as the minimum of a cost function. We report test results from both 25 × 25 and 45 × 45 pixel arrays.  相似文献

远距离复杂背景下步态图像通常受到噪声的影响很大。Gabor特征在此类步态识别中显示了良好的特性,然而一些基于Gabor特征的算法使用较多的模板从而导致计算量增大。为解决这个问题,本文提出了一种新的基于改进Gabor特征的步态特征提取与表示方法。首先突出步态能量图中的有效区域,并抑制易受噪声干扰的区域。然后构造一个同时具有两个方向互补特性的基本的滤波器,经过缩放和旋转,生成一系列滤波器。使用这些滤波器对改进的步态能量图以及步态差异图像进行卷积,得到两个特征向量集合以表示此步态对象。使用最近邻分类计算出本文方法在USF步态数据库上的识别率,与相关算法的比较证实了此步态特征提取与表示方法的有效性。对算法的计算量分析表明,本文算法所需的计算量比相关算法有较大降低。   相似文献

A novel Gabor filter structural similarity algorithm (GFSSIM) is proposed for facial expression recognition (FER) on noisy images. Low-resolution facial images with low SNRs are specifically dealt with FER system. The features are extracted using 40 Gabor filters, and a feature subset is selected for classification. The test image is classified based on proposed GFSSIM algorithm. The experimental results show that the recognition rate for heavily deteriorated images outperforms the conventional classifier method. In addition, the proposed method is more efficient from the computational complexity point of view.  相似文献

研究可供夜视图像进行色彩传递的自然彩色源图选择算法。利用Gabor滤波器能够模拟生物视觉的特性以及夜视图像的纹理特征,对结合Gabor滤波器和灰度共生矩阵源图检索算法做出了改进,提出了一种结合Gabor滤波器和灰度梯度共生矩阵的源图选择算法。最后对这两种算法和亮度梯度二次采样算法进行了比较,实验结果证明,改进的算法远远优于其他两个,减少了图像色彩传递应用过程的人工干预程度,大大提高了自动化水平。  相似文献

This paper presents the online estimation of temporal frequency to simultaneously detect and identify the quasiperiodic motion of an object. We introduce color to increase discriminative power of a reoccurring object and to provide robustness to appearance changes due to illumination changes. Spatial contextual information is incorporated by considering the object motion at different scales. We combined spatiospectral Gaussian filters and a temporal reparameterized Gabor filter to construct the online temporal frequency filter. We demonstrate the online filter to respond faster and decay faster than offline Gabor filters. Further, we show the online filter to be more selective to the tuned frequency than Gabor filters. We contribute to temporal frequency analysis in that we both identify ("what") and detect ("when") the frequency. In color video, we demonstrate the filter to detect and identify the periodicity of natural motion. The velocity of moving gratings is determined in a real world example. We consider periodic and quasiperiodic motion of both stationary and nonstationary objects.  相似文献

This paper presents a systematic approach for image-based fingerprint recognition. The proposed method first enhances an input fingerprint image using a contextual filtering based method in the frequency domain. Complex filters are used for the detection of the core point, and a region of interest (ROI) of a predefined size centered at the detected core point is extracted. The resulting ROI is rotated based on the angle of the detected core point to ensure rotation invariance. Subsequently, the proposed system extracts the average absolute deviation (AAD) from the outputs of a Gabor filter bank. To reduce the dimensionality of the extracted features whilst generating more discriminatory representation, this paper compares the unsupervised Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and the supervised Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) methods for dimensionality reduction. User-specific thresholding schemes are investigated to improve the verification performance. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through extensive experimentation on the FVC2002 set_a public database, in both identification and verification scenarios.  相似文献

文章给出了一种基于Gabor小波纹理特征的磨粒图像识别新方法,主要是利用Gabor小波设计了一种多通道小波滤波器,对磨粒图像直接进行小波变换,用Gabor小波变换系数的模的平均值和其标准方差来表示抽取的图像特征。把获得的小波特征归一化后输入到改进的BP神经网络分类器进行分类识别。最后,对磨粒图像进行了一系列的仿真实验,结果表明,识别正确率在91%以上,并且识别速度很快。  相似文献

A novel dynamic link architecture based on multiscale morphological dilation-erosion is proposed for frontal face authentication. Instead of a set of Gabor filters tuned to different orientations and scales, multiscale morphological operations are employed to yield a feature vector at each node of the reference grid. Linear projection algorithms for feature selection and automatic weighting of the nodes according to their discriminatory power succeed to increase the authentication capability of the method. The performance of the morphological dynamic link architecture is evaluated in terms of the receiver operating characteristic in the M2VTS face image database. The comparison with other frontal face authentication algorithms indicates that the morphological dynamic link architecture with discriminatory power coefficients is the best algorithm with respect to the equal error rate achieved.  相似文献

This research aims to work on the specific medical domain. In this work, retrieval of the head–neck medical images from a database is discussed. Content-based medical image retrieval system (CBMIR) is used for retrieving the head–neck images. CBMIR is automatic and more efficient compared with the text-based approach. Shape and texture features are used for constructing feature vector. Texture feature is extracted using a modified Gabor filter based on power-law transformation method. Shape feature is extracted using rank BHMT (rank-order blur hit or miss transformation) method. Shape and texture features are combined to form a single feature vector. Threshold value very near to zero is used to retrieve images from the database. The proposed method is compared with log-Gabor filters and rank BHMT method. Combinations of modified Gabor filter with rank BHMT gave better performance than other methods.  相似文献

We present a generalization of a new statistical technique of image partitioning into homogeneous regions to cases where the family of the probability laws of the gray-level fluctuations is a priori unknown. For that purpose, the probability laws are described with step functions whose parameters are estimated. This approach is based on a polygonal grid which can have an arbitrary topology and whose number of regions and regularity of its boundaries are obtained by minimizing the stochastic complexity of the image. We demonstrate that efficient homogeneous image partitioning can be obtained when no parametric model of the probability laws of the gray levels is used and that this approach leads to a criterion without parameter to be tuned by the user. The efficiency of this technique is compared to a statistical parametric technique on a synthetic image and is compared to a standard unsupervised segmentation method on real optical images.  相似文献

提出一种基于Gabor小波与Memetic算法的人脸识别方法MA-Gabor(Memetic Algorithm-Gabor).算法使用一组特定的Gabor小波滤波器对人脸图像重要区域进行针对性的特征提取运算,可在较短处理时间内获得更具区分能力的识别数据.为提升识别性能,MA-Gabor引入Memetic算法用于Gabor小波滤波器组的优化设计.实验结果表明,Memetic算法可获得比传统优化方法更佳的设计效果.通过将优化设计的Gabor小波滤波器组用于人脸图像的特征提取,MA-Gabor算法可取得比现有人脸识别方法更高的识别率.  相似文献
