Five commercial enzyme mixtures were evaluated for simultaneous oil and protein extraction from Moringa seed through enzyme‐assisted aqueous extraction (EAE). Protex 7L was found to be the best enzyme for highest oil (69.4%) extraction and protein (75.4%) recovery in the aqueous phase. The quality parameters of enzyme‐assisted aqueous extracted oil (EAEO), aqueous extracted oil (AEO), and hexane extracted oil (HEO) were compared. Among oils produced by these methods, fatty acids (FAs) profiles, density, refractive index, iodine value, saponification value, and unsaponifiable matter were found to be analogous, whereas significantly (p < 0.05) lower color and free FA contents in the EAEO and AEO than that of HEO were observed. The specific extinctions at 232 and 270 nm, p‐anisidine, and peroxide values of the EAEO and AEO were improved in comparison to HEO. An increase in tocopherol content and antioxidant activity measured by total phenolic content, DPPH radical scavenging capacity, and inhibition of linoleic acid oxidation in the EEO was observed as compared to the AEO and HEO. In general, the quality of the EAEO was improved and a significant amount of protein was simultaneously extracted which can be employed in food/feed applications. 相似文献

Triterpenic acids are natural compounds present in plants and foods with beneficial properties for human health and thus they are desirable in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Pomace olive is considered a good source of these substances. In this study, oleanolic and maslinic acids were found to be the main triterpenic acids identified in pomace olive oil obtained from stored “Alpeorujo”. Determination of the two acids was achieved by a new procedure that consists of extracting the acids from the oil with a mixture of methanol/ethanol, and then separating and quantifying them by HPLC. Results showed that their concentration increased up to 16 g/kg of oil during storage of the pomace in large ponds for 7 months. The concentration of both triterpenic acids was similar in the pomace olive oil obtained by using the centrifugation system. By contrast, a much lower concentration of maslinic than oleanolic acid was detected in pomace olive oils obtained by solvent extraction from the previously centrifugated “Alpeorujo” paste. These triterpenic acids also contributed to the acidity of the crude oil. Likewise, the oil of the pomace paste was enriched in other substances such as 4‐ethylphenol and aliphatic alcohols during the storage of the paste in large ponds. It is shown that there is limited validitity to the doctrine that true interfacial separation, in an adhering system, is highly improbable. An analysis employing the Griffith-Irwin crack theory yields these results: The important parameters are, difference in elastic moduli, ΔE; differences in g, the energy dissipation per unit crack extension; thickness, Δ1 or δ2, of the region where dissipation occurs; and the presence or absence of strong interfacial bonds. If the forces across the interface are appreciably weaker than the cohesive forces in either phase, there is a strong minimum in g at the interface. For flaws of equal size, an interfacial flaw will be the site of initiation of failure. If strong interfacial bonds are present, then if Δg and ΔE have the same sign, failure is most probable, deep within one phase. If Δg and ΔE have opposite signs, failure may be initiated, and may propagate, at a distance δ from the interface, in the phase with lower g. This may be mistaken for weak-boundary layer failure. 相似文献

Ultramarine blue made with Asturian refined hard kaolin from deposits associated with Armorican quartzite, is compared with the pigment made with China kaolin, both produced in the same synthesis conditions. Properties after a deep characterization (XRD, IRFT and Ramman Spectroscopies, Light Reflectivity, Colorimetry and Micro-analysis) showed that the Asturian Teresa mine kaolin is good enough, once washed and classified, to produce a good blue pigment. The pigment is quite comparable in quality to the one produced with China kaolin. Moreover, it can be obtained from a cheap and abundant material which so far had only been used for calcined fire-clay raw materials, used in low alumina refractories and castables production. 相似文献

The synthesis of electrically Conducting Natural Rubber (CNR) nanoparticles from natural rubber (cis 1, 4 polyisoprene) by a simple chemical doping technique is reported for the first time. Much before the establishment of conjugation as a precondition for polymers to be conducting a typical nonconjugated polymer like cis 1,4 polyisoprene was shown to develop intrinsic conductivity on doping. However, the possibility of developing conducting nanoparticles of natural rubber by doping has never been explored. Doping of natural rubber solution with Antimony pentchloride is found to lead to the formation of nanosized rubber particles with improved thermal stability and lower degradation characteristics than that of pristine rubber. Transmission electron microscopy and Dynamic Light Scattering experiments revealed a highly uniform dispersion of the particles with sizes in the range of 4 nm. The doped nanoparticles are found to retain “rubbery” properties of natural rubber and therefore these can be rightly termed as Rubber Nano particles. The development of nanoparticles of rubber assumes great significance in that it would lead to hitherto unknown applications for natural rubber in micro applications‐like sensors, and optoelectronics devices to macro applications such as compatible reinforcing fillers for elastomers and plastics to replace conventional fillers like carbon particles. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The interfacial chemistry of model systems consisting of two adhesion promoting primers and a single Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO) substrate was examined. Two commercial adhesion promoter (AP) materials were applied to a commercially-available TPO material and either flash dried at room temperature or baked at 100°C. The surface composition of the AP films and TPO substrate, and the interfacial compositions of the AP/TPO systems were characterized using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The AP films studied were based upon a chlorinated polyolefin (CPO). For one adhesion promoter film (AP-1), no chlorine was present at the surface suggesting a nonhomogeneous system. For the second adhesion promoter film (AP-2), the surface composition was about 15% CPO and 85% AP matrix. No changes in AP surface composition were evident for the different bake conditions for either AP. Interfacial compositions of the room temperature flashed materials were found to be very similar for both AP/TPO systems, with CPO being present for each and at similar concentrations. Interfacial compositions for the baked materials were also similar for the two systems, although the level of CPO at the interface increased for both the AP-1 and AP-2 relative to the unbaked materials. The relative increases observed were 46% and 41% for the AP-1 and AP-2 systems, respectively. The increase in the relative concentration of CPO at the interface with bake temperature suggests that there is a stronger interaction between the AP and TPO. The implication of these data is that a baked AP should result in a more robust paint system with respect to AP/TPO adhesion. 相似文献

An experimental investigation was undertaken for the rheology and phase transformation of prepared solutions comprising a paraffin wax dissolved in n‐dodecane or n‐hexadecane. The liquid‐solid phase transformation in wax‐solvent mixtures was investigated through the measurement of wax appearance/disappearance temperature (using cross polar microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, viscometry and a visual method), pour point temperature and crystallization temperature. The results were utilized to prepare a temperature‐composition phase diagram for the wax+n‐C16H34 pseudo‐binary system. The effects of composition, temperature, cooling rate and shear rate were studied on the rheology of wax‐solvent mixtures. A correlation was developed for the apparent viscosity of wax‐solvent mixtures. 相似文献

In Austria pumpkins are grown primarily for the production of pumpkin seeds that can be used for eating or the production of salad oil. Pumpkin seed oil is dark green and its fatty acid composition consists typically of linoleic acid and oleic acid as the dominant fatty acids. The saturated fatty acids palmitic and stearic acid occur at lower levels. The samples for this study were taken from a breeding program that intends to increase the seed and oil productivity. 15 samples with different contents of linoleic acid (40—57%) and vitamin E (100—600 μg/g) were selected. The stability of the oil was measured in a Rancimat that oxidizes the oil at 120 �C and measures the induction time that is needed for the oxidation. The correlation analysis showed that only the ratio of linoleic acid to oleic acid had a significant influence on the oxidative stability of the oil. Vitamin E did not show any correlation. When α‐tocopherol was added to the oil a strong pro‐oxidative effect was observed. 相似文献

Currently, most of the biodiesel is produced from the refined/edible type oils using methanol and an alkaline catalyst. However, large amount of non-edible type oils and fats are available. The difficulty with alkaline-esterification of these oils is that they often contain large amounts of free fatty acids (FFA). These free fatty acids quickly react with the alkaline catalyst to produce soaps that inhibit the separation of the ester and glycerin. A two-step transesterification process is developed to convert the high FFA oils to its mono-esters. The first step, acid catalyzed esterification reduces the FFA content of the oil to less than 2%. The second step, alkaline catalyzed transesterification process converts the products of the first step to its mono-esters and glycerol. The major factors affect the conversion efficiency of the process such as molar ratio, amount of catalyst, reaction temperature and reaction duration is analyzed. The two-step esterification procedure converts rubber seed oil to its methyl esters. The viscosity of biodiesel oil is nearer to that of diesel and the calorific value is about 14% less than that of diesel. The important properties of biodiesel such as specific gravity, flash point, cloud point and pour point are found out and compared with that of diesel. This study supports the production of biodiesel from unrefined rubber seed oil as a viable alternative to the diesel fuel. 相似文献

Ultrastable MSAMS-2 has been synthesized by the use of SBA-15 as “hard template” via twice re-crystallization both within the diluted solution of aluminosilicates sol–gel and glycerol. The ultrastable hydrothermal stability of MSAMS-2 might be ascribed to synergistic effect of the thicker wall, the higher condensation of silanol groups, the insertion of non-framework Al atoms and the formation of zeolites-like five-membered ring subunits within mesoporous framework. 相似文献

The term “alexandrite effect” is used in gemology to describe a distinct change of color appearance when a gemstone is switched from daylight to incandescent light. Gemstones that exhibit the alexandrite effect can actually be divided into four categories based upon the value of the calculated absolute hue-angle change of the material under different pairs of illuminants. the alexandrite effect is a non-color-constancy phenomenon. It can be explained by a combination of both chromaticity adaptations to the different light sources, and vision system responses to the spectral distribution of the light emitted by alexandrite effect gemstones when they are illuminated alternatively by the different light sources. 相似文献

Fresh raspberry (Rubus idaeus), cultivar Willamette, was freeze‐dried (lyophilization). A byproduct of lyophilization is “fine dust” of raspberry consisting of finely ground raspberry fruit body and seed. The seeds were separated. The seed oil was isolated and its physical and chemical characteristics were determined. Parameters that characterize the seed and quality of the oil were examined, including fatty acid composition, oxidative stability under different storage conditions, and radical‐scavenging activity. The fatty acid composition was determined by GC/FID and the contents of the dominant fatty acids were found as: oleic 16.92%, linoleic 54.95%, and α‐linolenic acid 23.97%. The oxidative stability of the oil was poor. The induction period by Rancimat test at 100 °C was 5.2 h. The radical‐scavenging activity is similar to that of resveratrol [1,3‐benzenediol 5‐(1E‐2‐4‐hydroxy‐phenyl‐ethyl)]. Although this product is used in the candy industry, it would be far more useful if raspberry oil of satisfactory quality could be extracted. This paper demonstrates that sifted lyophilized seeds can be used for the extraction of oils. This process allows for maximal usage of the byproducts, reduces losses and it increases the development of new products. 相似文献

Energetic azoles have shown great potential as powerful energetic molecules, which find various applications in both military and civilian fields. This work describes the synthesis, characterization and performance evaluation of two energetic triazole derivatives, viz. N‐(2,4‐dinitrophenyl)‐3‐nitro‐1H‐1,2,4‐triazole ( 1a ) and N‐(2,4‐dinitrophenyl)‐3‐azido‐1H‐1,2,4‐triazole ( 1b ). The compounds were synthesized from 3‐nitro‐1,2,4‐triazole and 3‐azido‐1,2,4‐triazole, by a simple synthetic route and structurally characterized using FT‐IR and NMR (1H, 13C) spectroscopy as well as elemental analysis. Thermal analyses on the molecules were performed using simultaneous TG‐DTA. Both compounds ( 1a , 1b ) showed good thermal stability with exothermic decomposition peaks at 348 °C and 217 °C, respectively, on DTA. The energetic and sensitivity properties of both compounds like friction sensitivities and heats of formation are reported. The heats of combustion at constant volume were determined using oxygen bomb calorimetry and the results were used to calculate the standard molar heats of formation (ΔfHm). The azido derivative ( 1b ) showed a higher positive heat of formation. The thermo‐chemical properties of the compounds as well as the thermal decomposition products were predicted using the REAL thermodynamic code. 相似文献
