The effect of the maximum asynchronous arrival time difference (AATD) of the delayed multipath components on the uplink performance of synchronous DS-CDMA systems is investigated, when communicating in a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel. Numerical results demonstrate that the achievable user capacity gain may be as high as 64% at a bit error rate (BER) of 10/sup -2/, when the maximum AATD is sufficiently low.  相似文献

Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation using gold-MUSIC is achieved for Uniform Linear Array (ULA) antenna based Direct-Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) sources having different Propagation Delay. The DOA is estimated by different MUSIC (Multiple Signal Classification) algorithms for M signal sources with Phase Shift Keying (PSK) transmission in presence of Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN). Spatial spectrum, computational efficiency and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of DOA estimation using gold-MUSIC over MUSIC and Root-MUSIC algorithms are studied meticulously. The effects of number of ULA elements, Data length and arrival angle on RMSE of DOA are also conferred here.  相似文献

In Direct-Sequence Code Division Multiple Access(DS-CDMA) mobile communication systems, it is very important to obtain accurate estimation of the channel parameters,especially that of the propagation delay. But the near-far problem may make the estimation complicated and can degrade the estimation performance significantly. In this paper, an efficient Maximum Likelihood (ML) method is presented for channel parameter estimation of multi-rate DS-CDMA systems in slow fading multipath channels in a near-far scenario. The algorithm extended the ML approach to multi-rate DS-CDMA systems, and proposes decomposing a multidimensional optimization problem into a series of one-dimensional optimization and has improved computational efficiency. Theoretical analysis and numerical examples show that the estimator proposed is effective and near-far resistant.  相似文献

正交匹配追踪(OMP)算法是一种基于压缩感知的稀疏信道估计方法,本文对OMP算法的终止条件进行研究,针对非整数倍路径时延环境中路径能量泄露导致路径总数增多且难以确定的问题,给出了一种基于噪声方差的终止准则,其中噪声方差可以通过估计获得。这种基于噪声方差的OMP算法(NV-OMP)能够检测信道路径个数,并获得有效的信道估计。仿真结果表明,与基于稀疏度已知的OMP算法相比,NV-OMP算法在非整数倍路径时延环境下的信道估计性能更加鲁棒,因而更适合于实际应用。文章同时仿真分析了噪声方差对NV-OMP算法性能的影响。  相似文献

Commercial applications for the location of subscribers of wireless services continue to expand. Consequently, finding the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB), which serves as an optimality criterion for the location estimation problem, is of interest. In this paper, we derive the deterministic CRLBs for the estimation of the specular multipath parameters and the positions of the mobiles in an asynchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system operating over specular multipath fading channels. We assume a multilateral radio location system where the location estimates are obtained from some or all of the estimated signal parameters at different clusters of antennas of arbitrary geometry. Extension for unilateral and composite radio location techniques is also discussed. As an application example, we use numerical simulations to investigate the effects of specular multipath and multiple access interference (MAI) on the positioning accuracy for different radio location techniques.  相似文献

An efficient direction of arrival (DOA) estimation method is proposed with uniform linear array (ULA) in multipath environment. By applying a transformation, we can convert a constructed complex matrix to a real one, and then utilize the real matrix combined with our proposed criterion to estimate the DOAs of uncorrelated signals. Afterwards, the contributions of uncorrelated signals are eliminated, and then several new matrices without the information of uncorrelated signals are constructed to resolve the remaining coherent signals. The proposed estimation method overcomes the shortcomings of the existing methods and has satisfactory performance. Simulation results confirm the theoretical analysis and show the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

We present a conceptually simple and computationally efficient algorithm, which is referred to as WRELAX for the well-known time delay estimation problem. The method is a relaxation-based minimizer of a complicated nonlinear least squares criterion, WRELAX can be applied to detecting and classifying roadway subsurface anomalies by using an ultra-wideband ground-penetrating radar. 针对信号出现多径传播情况时现有宽带信号波达方向(direction of arrival, DOA)估计方法性能下降的问题,提出了一种多径传播条件下宽带线性调频(chirp)信号波达方向估计方法,该方法将导向有效投影(steered effective projection, STEP)技术与宽带线性调频信号的时频特性相结合,对具有不同时频特性的信号分量进行分离,逐个处理,并以时频分布矩阵代替传统的协方差矩阵,从而构造有效噪声子空间,实现时域角度估计。本方法无需进行信号聚焦操作,因此理论上不受聚焦误差的影响。仿真结果验证了所提方法的有效性。   相似文献

Basic aspects of time delay estimation (TDE) based on sampled signals are investigated. The direct cross-correlation method is analyzed and compared to the average square difference function (ASDF) and the (addition only based) average magnitude difference function (AMDF) estimators, Their relative accuracy is theoretically evaluated, and previous empirical results are explained. It is shown that both the ASDF- and the AMDF-based estimators outperform the direct cross-correlation based estimator for medium-high signal-to-noise ratios. Moreover, the AMDF-based estimator, which avoids any multiplications, significantly reduces the computational complexity of the estimation procedure while offering only a moderate performance loss with respect to the ASDF based estimator  相似文献

This paper addresses the issue of channel parameter estimation for uplink direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) system. A frequency-selective multipath channel is considered, and a feedback (FB) structure to jointly estimate path delays and complex gains is developed. The proposed algorithms are extensions of those from , where only path-delay estimation is considered. In the current paper, a detailed mathematical analysis of the coupling between the different parallel feedback loops is carried out. From this analysis, results are derived pertaining to system dynamics and jitter variance. Furthermore, a novel operating mode, called improved decision-directed (IDD), is proposed as an improvement of the standard decision-directed (DD) mode. The resulting performance will be measured in terms of mean-square estimation errors (MSEEs) and benchmarked against the corresponding modified Crame/spl acute/r-Rao bounds (MCRBs). Finally, the impact of the accuracy of the estimated complex gains on the jitter of the path delay trackers (and vice versa) is investigated.  相似文献

Accurate detection and estimation of overlapping fading multipath components is vital for many communication systems, particularly for positioning technologies. Traditional approaches used for channel estimation generally fail in estimating closely-spaced multipath components in code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Here, we present a highly efficient technique for asynchronous downlink WCDMA multipath delay estimation with subchip resolution capability based on nonlinear Teager-Kaiser operator concept. The behavior of this technique is influenced considerably by the pulse shape waveform. Both rectangular and root raised cosine pulse shaping filters are considered.  相似文献

Position location techniques based on propagation delay have been proposed previously. A narrow-band version of this technique involves the transmission of RF carrier, modulated by a single audio frequency. At a receiver, the audio phase is a measure of distance provided the propagation delay is less than one quarter cycle. The transmission medium introduces multipath distortion and the received signal consists of a set of signals, each an attenuated and delayed replica of the transmitted signal, having traversed a different path. When FM is employed, the phase of the demodulated composite is a nonlinear function of the parameters of the multipath structure of the channel. The problem of pilot-symbol-aided estimation of multipath fading channels in up-link code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems is considered. The transmitted symbol streams of each user are divided into time-slots; and each time-slot contains a number of pilot-symbols followed by information data symbols. Channel estimation is based on interpolation of the channel values corresponding to the pilot symbols in adjacent time-slots. Existing channel estimation techniques, including the weighted multislot average method and the wavelet expansion method, are studied. Two new channel estimation methods, namely, the robust channel interpolator, and the polynomial channel interpolator, are developed and are compared with these techniques. It is seen that the two new channel estimation methods significantly outperform the existing methods in multipath fading CDMA systems, for a wide range of Doppler values, and under various receiver schemes (with single or multiple receive antennas), such as the RAKE receiver, the interference cancellation receiver, and a receiver which performs iterative channel estimation and interference cancellation.  相似文献

The problem of delay estimation in the presence of multipath is considered. It is shown that the extended Kalman filter (EKF) can be used to obtain joint estimates of time-of-arrival and multipath coefficients for deterministic signals when the channel can be modeled as a tapped-delay line. Simulation results are presented for the EKF joint estimator used for synchronization in a direct-sequence spread-spectrum system operating over a frequency-selective fading channel. A simplified model of the EKF joint estimator is considered for analysis purposes. The evolution in time of the tracking error probability density function and the nonlinear tracking error variance are examined through numerical solution of the Chapman-Kolmogorov equation. The nonlinear tracking error variance is compared to both the linear error variance estimate directly provided by the EKF and the Cramer-Rao lower bound  相似文献

In this paper, we consider iterative space-time multiuser detection and channel parameter estimation in a bit-interleaved coded modulation scheme for asynchronous direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) transmission over frequency selective, slowly fading channels. Accurate estimation of the channel parameters is critical as it has great impact on the overall BER performance. We present an iterative space-time multiuser (STMU) turbo detection and estimation scheme, based on space alternating generalized expectation maximization (SAGE) algorithm. This algorithm operates on the coded symbols by exchanging soft information between the detector and the estimator. We show through computer simulations that the proposed low complexity STMU receiver considerably outperforms conventional estimation schemes and achieves excellent performance, both in terms of BER and estimation error variance. Finally, we will consider different mapping strategies and investigate their impact on the performance and complexity of the estimator.  相似文献

Two high-resolution estimation techniques are applied to the problem of estimating the delays of the skywave components of signals input to Loran-C receivers. Their performance is evaluated and compared with that of a Fourier-based spectral-division technique. Simulation results show that the high-resolution algorithms improve the accuracy of the estimates significantly and estimate the skywave delay successfully in situations in which the Fourier-based method fails  相似文献

Equations for the recovered timing for a squaring timing recovery circuit under multipath radio propagation are derived. Both coherent and differential detections are studied. If delay spread is much smaller than the symbol duration, the recovered timing can be approximated by the centroid of the power delay profile, p(t). Two cases of timing loop bandwidth are considered. If the fading frequency is much lower than the bandwidth of the timing loop, the instantaneous sample of p(t) is used to generate the timing clock. If the fading frequency is much higher than the loop bandwidth, the ensemble average of p(t) over fading samples is used to recover the timing. A computer simulation is performed for a system operating in a frequency-selective, slowly fading environment. It is found that for root mean square (rms) delay spread less than or equal to 0.1 of the symbol duration, a squaring timing loop with either narrow or wide bandwidth can properly determine the timing detection. The main mechanism of the "irreducible bit error rate" in this case is the closure of the eye-pattern instead of timing error.  相似文献

The authors distinguish between the minimum phase and nonminimum phase fade types and present simulations illustrating typical radio performance during fades, before introducing various adaptive filter designs for implementing the equaliser to compensate for these two fade types. In this paper, we derive the bit error probability (BEP) of cooperative DS-CDMA systems using decode and forward (DF) relaying. We consider a conventional DF protocol where all the relays that have correctly decoded transmit and a selective DF (S-DF) protocol where we activate only the relay that offers the best instantaneous signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the relay to destination link among the relays that have correctly decoded. The derived results are valid for any multipath intensity profile of the channel, any path delays and take into account the correlation of the multipath gains.  相似文献

Blind detection of a desired user's signal in a code-hopping (CH) direct sequence code-division multiple access (CDMA) system is considered. In CH CDMA systems each user switches between a predetermined set of short-code sequences. A user signal in such systems may be treated as the superposition of several virtual short-code signals. A code-constrained inverse filter criterion (IFC)-based blind detector for short-code CDMA signals in asynchronous multipath channels to detect a desired user's signal was recently presented by Tugnait and Li (2001). A novel approach combining the code-constrained IFC and a penalty function is proposed to simultaneously extract all virtual users associated with a given CH user. Global minima of the proposed cost function are analyzed. An extension of an existing subspace-based approach is also investigated. An illustrative simulation example is provided where the proposed algorithm is compared with a clairvoyant matched filter receiver, two linear minimum mean-square error (MMSE) receivers with channels known, and the subspace-based approach.  相似文献
