IR optical properties of Pd nanoparticles with different size and aggregation state were studied in the current paper. The dispersed Pd nanoparticles () stabilized with poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) were synthesized by the seeding growth method, in which the seeds were formed step by step through reducing H2PdCl4 with ethanol. The dispersed Pd nanoparticles of much large size () were grown from the by keeping the colloid of undisturbed for 150 days at room temperature around 20 °C. The aggregates of () were prepared through an agglomeration process induced during a potential cyclic scanning between −0.25 V and 1.25 V for 20 min at a scan rate of 50 mV s−1. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) patterns confirmed such aggregation of . Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy together with CO adsorption as probe reaction was employed in studies of IR optical properties of the prepared Pd nanoparticles. The results demonstrated that CO adsorbed on films substrated on CaF2 IR window or glassy carbon (GC) electrode yielded two strong IR absorption bands around 1970 cm−1 and 1910 cm−1, which were assigned to IR absorption of CO bonded on asymmetric and symmetric bridge sites, respectively. Similar IR bands were observed in spectra of CO adsorbed on films, except the IR bands were much weak, whereas CO adsorbed on film produced an IR absorption band near 1906 cm−1, and an anomalous IR absorption band whose direction has been completely inverted around 1956 cm−1. The direction inversion of the IR band of CO bonded to asymmetric bridge sites on was ascribed to the interaction between Pd nanoparticles inside the aggregates. Based on FTIR spectroscopic and cyclic voltammetric results, the aggregation mechanism of Pd nanoparticles from to has been suggested that the agglomeration of Pd nanoparticles was driven by the alteration of electric field across electrode-electrolyte interface, when the PVP stabilizer was stripped via oxidation during cyclic voltammetry.  相似文献

The electrochemical reduction of peroxycitric acid (PCA) coexisting with citric acid and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the equilibrium mixture was extensively studied at a gold electrode in acetate buffer solutions containing 0.1 M Na2SO4 (pH 2.0-6.0) using cyclic and hydrodynamic voltammetric, and hydrodynamic chronocoulometric measurements. The reduction of PCA was characterized to be an irreversible, diffusion-controlled process, and the cyclic voltammetric reduction peak potential () was found to be more positive by ca. 1.0 V than that of the coexisting H2O2, e.g., the values obtained at 0.1 V s−1 for PCA and H2O2 were 0.35 and −0.35 V, respectively, vs. Ag|AgCl|KCl (sat.) at pH 3.3. The of PCA was found to depend on pH, i.e., at pH > 4.5, the plot of vs. pH gave the slope (−64 mV decade−1) which is close to the theoretical value (−59 mV decade−1) for an electrode process involving the equal number of electron and proton in the rate-determining step, while at pH < 4.5, the was almost independent of pH. The relevant electrochemical parameters, Tafel slope, number of electrons, formal potential (E0′), cathodic transfer coefficient and standard heterogeneous rate constant (k0′) for the reduction of PCA and the diffusion coefficient of PCA were determined to be ca. 100 mV decade−1, 2, 1.53 V (at pH 2.6), 0.29, 1.2 × 10−12 cm s−1 and 0.29 × 10−5 cm2 s−1, respectively, and except for E0′, the obtained values were almost independent of the solution pH. The overall mechanism of the reduction of PCA was discussed.  相似文献

Cu(II) and Sn(II) reduction in acid sulphate solutions containing polyether laprol DS-10 was investigated using voltammetric XPS and XRD techniques. Bright yellow bronze coatings can be deposited at potentials (E) that are positive than equilibrium potential () of Sn|Sn2+ electrode. Here, Sn(II) reduction might be treated as underpotential deposition (UPD) of tin on foreign (copper) substrate. Further incorporation of tin into integral Cu-Sn crystallic lattice yields the mixture of pure copper, α-CuSn phase and intermediate hexagonal hcp phase. The formation of free tin phase occurs at . This gives rise for strong inhibitive adsorption of sintanol that manifests itself in the development of deep voltammetric minimum.Addition of halides results in the shift of codeposition potential to more negative values and in the increase of copper content in the coatings deposited in the UPD region. The action of halides intensifies in the sequence Cl < Br < I. If iodide concentration exceeds 2-3 μM, deposition of yellow bronze becomes impossible.  相似文献

Capacity intermittent titration technique (CITT) was used to investigate the chemical diffusion coefficient () of lithium-ion in LiFePO4 cathode material. The values of at the galvano-charge current of 0.2 and 0.4 mA were respectively found to range from 8.8 × 10−16 to 8.9 × 10−14 cm2 s−1 and from 1.2 × 10−16 to 8.5 × 10−14 cm2 s−1 in the voltage range from 3.2 to 4 V (vs. Li+/Li). The transfer coefficients of cathode (0.32-0.42) and anodic (0.26-0.3), and the standard rate constant (1.58 × 10−9 to 1.30 × 10−8 cm s−1) were measured from the Tafel plots of LiFePO4 in the equilibrium potential range from 3.06 to 3.45 V. From these kinetic parameters, the finite kinetics at interface was taken into account to revise the above values of . The revised values of at the galvano-charge current of 0.2 and 0.4 mA were respectively found to range from 2.44 × 10−15 to 2.21 × 10−13 cm2 s−1 and from 5.81 × 10−16 to 3.22 × 10−13 cm2 s−1 in the voltage range from 3.2 to 4 V. Results show that the approximation of infinite charge-transfer kinetics leads to a spurious value of which is lower than the revised value, and the spurious extent depends on the galvano-charge current of CITT experiment.  相似文献

This work presents a study on the electrochemical properties of AmCl3 in a molten LiCl-KCl eutectic, at a temperature range of 733-833 K. Transient electrochemical techniques, such as cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry, on inert metallic tungsten working electrode have been used to investigate the reduction mechanism of Am3+ ions. The results show that Am3+ is reduced to Am metal by a two-step mechanism corresponding to the Am3+/Am2+ and Am2+/Am0 transitions. Formal standard potentials of Am3+/Am2+ ( versus Cl2/Cl at 733 K) and Am2+/Am0 ( versus Cl2/Cl at 733 K) redox couples as well as diffusion coefficients of Am3+ and Am2+ (2.4 × 10−5 and 1.15 × 10−5 cm2 s−1 at 733 K, respectively) have been calculated at three different temperatures. In the studied range of temperature, the DAm3+/DAm2+ ratio was found to be around 2. In addition, thermodynamic properties have been calculated for Am3+ () and Am2+ () and compared to thermodynamic reference data in order to estimate activity coefficients (Am3+ = 4.7 × 10−3 and Am2+ = 2.7 × 10−2 at 733 K) in the molten LiCl-KCl eutectic.  相似文献

The effect of carbon dioxide partial pressure and fluidization velocity on activated carbons produced by carbon dioxide activation of scrap car tyre rubber in a fluidized bed has been studied. The method consisted of carbonization at under nitrogen followed by activation at . Three types of activated carbons were produced using activated gas concentrations of 20, 60 and 100% carbon dioxide by volume, the rest nitrogen, at a constant fluidization velocity (0.0393 m/s) to investigate the influence of carbon dioxide partial pressure. Within the experimental setup and activation time of 4 h, it was observed that BET surface area and total pore volume increased with carbon dioxide partial pressure reaching and , respectively, for 100% activation with carbon dioxide. Three other types of activated carbons were produced using 100% carbon dioxide at two (0.0393 m/s), three (0.0589 m/s) and four (0.0786 m/s) times the minimum fluidization velocity (Umf). The BET surface area and total pore volume were observed to increase with fluidization velocity (which can be viewed as an indicator of the intensity of mixing in the bed), reaching and , respectively, at four times the minimum fluidization velocity.  相似文献

Theoretical studies on anions of 1,2-dihydroxycyclobuten-3,4-dione (squaric acid, H2SQ) and the whole series of dicyanomethylene derivatives in gas-phase and in acetonitrile (AN) solution are carried out using density functional theory (DFT) and SCRF-DFT method at B3LYP theory level for the first time. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analyses indicate that π-electron delocalization in the series is stronger. Based on the most stable conformations, a linear correlation was observed between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energies, or ionization potential (Ip) and the oxidation potentials measured by cyclic voltammetry, which supports experimental results that systematic substitution of the oxygen atoms in the C4O42− structure with C(CN)2 groups causes a shift of both the oxidation potentials and towards more positive values, indicating that a consistent delocalization of the negative charge is exerted by these substituents and monoanions are more resistant against oxidation than their counterparts-dianions. The correlations were also observed between experimental Ksem and Gibbs free energy calculated in AN solution. The calculated gas-phase relative basicity of the six dianions follows the order SQ2− > 4-CDCB2− > 2,4-CDCB2− > 3,4-CDCB2− > 2,3,4-CDCB2− > 1,2,3,4-CDCB2− which support the experimental results that the dianions SQ2− and 4-CDCB2− can be protonated, in strongly acidic medium, to the corresponding monoanions, whereas no protonation occurs in the case of di-, tri- and tetra-substituted compounds.  相似文献

Specific selectivity toward different heavy metal ions could be introduced into self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) by ion imprinting. In the mixed solution, good response toward mercury ions could be obtained on mercury ions imprinted SAMs, the copper ions imprinted SAMs presented good selectivity toward copper ions, while on lead ions imprinted SAMs, significantly higher insertion of lead ions than mercury and copper ions were observed. Linear calibration plots were obtained for each heavy metal ion and the regression equations were: [Hg(II)]/(10−6 M), [Cu(II)]/(10−6 M) and [Pb(II)]/(10−6 M) for mercury, copper and lead ions, respectively. The detection limits were determined to be: 1.46×10−8 M for Hg(II), 3.73×10−8 M for Cu(II) and 4.34×10−8 M Pb(II). The decreases in current response for mercury, copper and lead ions in the presence of 100-fold interferential ions were: 3.37%, 9.16% and 7.60%, respectively. Acceptable recoveries were obtained in mixed solutions at both high and low concentrations.  相似文献

The normal potential of the Ce(IV)/Ce(III) redox couple was determined by square wave voltammetry (SWV) at different temperatures in solutions with a constant ratio [CO32−]/[HCO3] ≈10 for high ionic strengths (3.29 mol dm−3 at 4.39 mol dm−3): varies from 259.5 to 198.0 mV/S.H.E. in the 15-50 °C range. Linear variations were found for versus (RT/F)ln(mCO32−), leading to the stoichiometry, Ce(CO3)68− for the Ce(IV) limiting complex. But the slopes of these linear variations were actually found in the range 1.8-1.9, not exactly 2. This was interpreted as dissociation of the Ce(IV) limiting complex following the reaction: Ce(CO3)56− + CO32− → Ce(CO3)68− and as dissociation of the Ce(III) limiting complex following the reaction: Ce(CO3)33− + CO32− → Ce(CO3)45−; for which maximum possible values of log10 KIV,6 and log10 KIII,4 were estimated via fitting in the 15-50 °C temperature range (log10 KIV,6 = 0.42 (0.97) and log10 KIII,4 = 0.88 (7.00) at 15 °C (50 °C). The normal potential was found to decrease linearly with T, these variations correspond to , with T0 = 298.15 K and . The apparent diffusion coefficient of Ce(IV) was determined by direct current polarography (DCP), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and square wave voltammetry. It was found to depend on the ionic strength and to be proportional to T.  相似文献

A simple procedure to quantify the rates of carbon monoxide (CO) desorption from, and simultaneous rearrangement on, supported platinum fuel cell electrode (Pt on Vulcan XC-72R) is reported. The surface coverage of CO on Pt electrode in equilibrium with bulk CO was measured from the anodic peaks in the CO stripping voltammogram. The decline in these surface coverages due to desorption and rearrangement, once CO was replaced by N2 in the gas phase was recorded and used in conjunction with a kinetic model to quantify the respective rates. Two distinct CO oxidation peaks observed in the voltammogram due to the oxidation of two distinct ad-species, namely weakly and strongly adsorbed CO ( and ), were baseline corrected and deconvoluted using a bimodal Gaussian distribution. Saturation surface coverage of decreased with increasing temperature, while the opposite was true for . Rearrangement from to was faster than the desorption rate of either CO species. The desorption rate of was at least an order of magnitude lower than that of molecules at all temperatures studied. The activation energies for desorption of and were estimated to be 24.08 and 27.99 kJ/mol, respectively. The activation energy for rearrangement from to was 35.23 kJ/mol and that from to was 27.55 kJ/mol.  相似文献

Kinetics of absorption of carbon dioxide in aqueous piperazine solutions   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In the present work the absorption of carbon dioxide into aqueous piperazine (PZ) solutions has been studied in a stirred cell, at low to moderate temperatures, piperazine concentrations ranging from 0.6 to , and carbon dioxide pressures up to 500 mbar, respectively. The obtained experimental results were interpreted using the DeCoursey equation [DeCoursey, W., 1974. Absorption with chemical reaction: development of a new relation for the Danckwerts model. Chemical Engineering Science 29, 1867-1872] to extract the kinetics of the main reaction, 2PZ+CO2PZCOO-+PZH+, which was assumed to be first order in both CO2 and PZ. The second-order kinetic rate constant was found to be at a temperature of , with an activation temperature of . Also, the absorption rate of CO2 into partially protonated piperazine solutions was experimentally investigated to identify the kinetics of the reaction . The results were interpreted using the Hogendoorn approach [Hogendoorn, J., Vas Bhat, R., Kuipers, J., Van Swaaij, W., Versteeg, G., 1997. Approximation for the enhancement factor applicable to reversible reactions of finite rate in chemically loaded solutions. Chemical Engineering Science 52, 4547-4559], which uses the explicit DeCoursey equation with an infinite enhancement factor which is corrected for reversibility. Also, this reaction was assumed to be first order in both reactants and the second-order rate constant for this reaction was found to be at 298.15 K.  相似文献

Use of high-sulfur coal for power generation in the United States requires the removal of sulfur dioxide (SO2) produced during burning in order to meet clean air regulations. If SO2 is removed from the flue gas using a wet scrubber without forced air oxidation, much of the S product created will be sulfite (). Plants take up S in the form of sulfate (). Sulfite may cause damage to plant roots, especially in acid soils. For agricultural uses, it is thought that in flue gas desulfurization (FGD) products must first oxidize to in soils before crops are planted. However, there is little information about the oxidation of in FGD product to under field conditions. An FGD-CaSO3 was applied at rates of 0, 1.12, and 3.36 Mg ha−1 to the surface of an agricultural soil (Wooster silt loam, Oxyaquic Fragiudalf). The in the surface soil (0-10 cm) was analyzed on days 3, 7, 17, 45, and 61. The distribution of and Ca in the 0-90 cm soil layer was also determined on day 61. Results indicated that in the FGD-CaSO3 rapidly oxidized to on the field surface during the first week and much of the and Ca moved downward into the 0-50 cm soil layer during the experimental period of two months. It is safe to grow plants in soil treated with FGD-CaSO3 if the application is made at least three days to several weeks before planting.  相似文献

Mixtures of supercritical CO2 and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) are very often involved in supercritical fluid applications and their thermodynamic properties are required to understand and design these processes. Excess molar enthalpies () for CO2 + DMF mixtures were measured using an isothermal high-pressure flow calorimeter under conditions of temperature and pressure typically used in supercritical processes: 313.15 and 323.15 K at 9.00, 12.00, 15.00 and 18.00 MPa and 333.15 K at 9.00 and 15.00 MPa. The Peng-Robinson and the Soave-Redlich-Kwong equations of state were used in conjunction with the classical mixing rules to model the literature vapor-liquid equilibrium and critical data and the excess enthalpy data. In most cases, CO2 + DMF mixtures showed very exothermic mixing and excess molar enthalpies exhibited a minimum in the CO2-rich region. The lowest value (−4526 J mol−1) was observed for a CO2 mole fraction value of 0.713 at 9.00 MPa and 333.15 K. On the other hand, at 9.00 MPa and 323.15 and 333.15 K varies linearly with CO2 mole fraction in the two-phase region where a gaseous and a liquid mixture of fixed composition are in equilibrium. The effects of pressure and temperature on the excess molar enthalpy are large. For a given mole fraction, mixtures become less exothermic as pressure increases or temperature decreases. These excess enthalpy data were analyzed in terms of molecular interactions, phase equilibria, density and critical parameters previously reported for CO2 + DMF. All throughout this paper, the key concepts and modeling tools originate from the work of van der Waals: the paper is intended as a small piece of recognition of van der Waals overwhelming contributions to thermodynamics.  相似文献

This paper studied the effects of sulfate and chloride ions on bivalent mercury (Hg2+) absorption and reduction behaviors in a simulated WFGD system. The aqueous mercuric ion-sulfite system reduction behaviors were monitored and investigated using a UV-visible spectrum. Thereafter, the mechanism of Hg2+ reduction in the presence of sulfate and chloride ions was proposed. Experimental results revealed that both sulfate and chloride ions had inhibition effects on aqueous Hg2+ reduction to Hg0. The inhibition was assumed due to the formation of (in the presence of ) and / (in the presence of Cl). And it was found that complex was more stable than in excess of Cl. The formation of the above-mentioned complexes in the presence of and Cl would damp the formation of HgSO3, whose decomposition was assumed to be the key step of Hg2+ reduction.  相似文献

The chemical diffusion coefficients of lithium ions (DLi+) in Li3V2(PO4)3 between 3.0 and 4.8 V are systematically determined by cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT). The DLi+ values are found to be dependent on the voltage state of charge and discharge. Based on the results from all the three techniques, the true diffusion coefficients measured in single-phase region are in the range of 10−9 to 10−10 cm2 s−1. Its apparent diffusion coefficients measured in two-phase regions by CV and GITT range from 10−10 to 10−11 cm2 s−1 and 10−8 to 10−13 cm2 s−1, respectively, depending on the potentials. By the GITT, the DLi+ varies non-linearly in a “W” shape with the charge-discharge voltage, which is ascribed to the strong interactions of Li+ with surrounding ions. Finally, the chemical diffusion coefficients of lithium ions measured by CV, EIS and GITT are compared to each other.  相似文献

The self-diffusion coefficients of water and ions were used to study the physical (tortuosity) and electrostatic interactions of counterions in poly(perfluorosulfonic) acid membrane (Nafion-117) matrix. The self-diffusion coefficients of water were measured in the water swollen Nafion-117 membrane with Zn2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, and Fe2+ counterions by analyzing the experimental exchange rates between tritium tagged water (HTO) in membrane and equilibrating water. In order to study the effects of equilibrating solution, the HTO-desorption rate profiles between the membrane samples in H+ or Cs+ forms and equilibrating solution containing CsCl or HCl (0.25 mol/L) were measured. It was observed that the HTO-exchange rate profile was slower in case of membrane sample in Cs+-from equilibrated with salt/acid solution than that equilibrated with deionized water in same ionic form. However, HTO-exchange rate profile did not alter in case of H+-form of membrane on equilibration with salt or acid solution. The variation of ln  with polymer volume function Vp/(1 − Vp), where Vp is polymer volume fraction, indicated that: (i) in the membrane with multivalent counterions was lower than that reported for membrane with monovalent counterions at same Vp, and (ii) the linear trends observed in variation of ln  with Vp/(1 − Vp) for multivalent and monovalent counterions were significantly different. The values of in membrane normalized with at Vp = 0 were taken as an estimate of the tortuosity factor for self-diffusion of ions in the membrane matrix. The self-diffusion coefficients of ions reported in the literature along with tortuosity factor obtained from in the corresponding ionic forms of the membrane were analyzed to obtain the charge (Zi) independent electrostatic interaction parameter g(φ) of monovalent and divalent ions in the membrane. This analysis indicated that g(φ) also vary exponentially as a function of Vp/(1 − Vp) irrespective of charge on counterions. In order to study the influence of Vp on diffusional transport rates of Na+ and Cs+ ions in membrane, a permeation experiment was carried out using H+-form of membrane having high water volume fraction. The diffusional transport rates of Cs+ and Na+ in H+-form of membrane were found to be similar indicating that the water volume fraction in membrane has strong influence on the parameters that govern the diffusion across the Nafion-117 membrane.  相似文献
