A Public Library for Evanston,Illinois

The competition entry for a new library in Evanston, Illinois, addresses two important themes of the American city— ideality of form in civic buildings and representation of values associated with a public institution. Of primary concern was the desire for the building to be understood as an important part of the public realm of the city of Evanston, that it present itself as a library and a civic institution, and that it be seen, by association with other well-known public libraries, to represent the broader cultural values associated with knowledge and learning.     

浅析基于城市空间公共性的建筑界面设计

当代城市空间形态正朝向系统化、立体化渐进,一种开放的城市与建筑共通的场所观念被人们所接受。处于城市空间中的建筑界面设计,就是处理建筑和城市空间的关系。本文提出,对于建筑界面设计,我们不能仅仅是满足建筑自身功能需求,还应该更多给予公共价值层面的考量,注重建筑空间和城市空间公共性的整体考虑。

宜居城市建设背景下的公共设施体系是在建设宜居城市的背景下,针对传统公共服务设施的定义、构建体系、内容而扩展提出的一种理论体系。因为控制性详细规划直接面对规划实施与管理,公共设施也是其重点调控的对象之一,所以适宜在其层面上对宜居城市建设背景下的公共设施构建体系进行引导与控制,并通过将宜居要素与控制性详细规划管控要素进行叠合,从设施层次、指标体系、设施互融等方面展开体系构建研究,以此指导重庆市北碚区宜居蔡家建设下的公共设施规划实践活动。     

一种被忽略的城市公共空间——公共化的建筑外部空间

从对公众活动的接受度的角度对城市公共空间作出新的定义．进而引出一种被忽略的城市公共空间——公共化的建筑外部空间。并对公共化的建筑外部空间的特点,对其在抵御蓄意破坏行为、保障空间安全及在支持城市生活方面的出色表现以及在补充城市中的公共空间、改善建筑与城市间的关系、改善城市步行环境方面所发挥的积极作用进行了分析和介绍。     

基于社区营造和多元共治的北京老城 社区公共空间景观微更新——以北京 老城区微花园为例

当城市进入存量发展的背景下,以公众参与为基础、微小社区空间和公共空间设施为改造对象的局部更新方式,成为城市更新的趋势。北京老城社区公共空间景观微更新更加注重公众参与的社区营造和多元共治。社区营造强调公共空间的参与性和过程性,是社区微更新的设计和实施途径;而多元共治则强调公共空间的多元性和可持续性,是社区微更新的实施和维护手段。社区营造和多元共治的途径非常多样化,分别体现在社区历史、文化和邻里关系原真性的保护和挖掘、参与式营造设计和共建、社群协调与社区自组织培育和参与式建立后期运营和维护机制等方面。基于以上思考,以北京老城社区公共空间的典型类型微花园的研究和实践为例,从微花园的观察记录到参与式设计,再到参与式共建和后期维护,探讨北京老城区社区公共空间景观微更新的方法、策略和机制,论证基于社区营造和多元共治的北京老城社区公共空间景观微更新的有效途径。     

Support for tenure mix by residents local to the Carlton Housing Estate,Melbourne, Australia

In this paper, we report on the level of support for tenure mix policies of residents living proximate to the Carlton Housing Estate mixed tenure redevelopment in Melbourne Australia. In a telephone survey of 200 residents living in the area surrounding the estate, the majority of respondents were supportive of tenure mix. Those who were financially comfortable or only spoke English were significantly more supportive than those reporting more difficult financial circumstances or who spoke a language other than English. The reasons for support for tenure mix included avoiding ghettoization, building community and social role modelling. The reasons for opposing tenure mix reflected a concern for the loss of public housing, a view that public and private tenants would not want to be co-located and that public tenants weren’t as deserving as others of living in a good inner city location. There were also concerns from both groups about how tenure mix might work in practice. Policy implications are discussed.
