Prechirp technique, as a linear dispersion compensation for intensity modulation direct detection (IM-DD) optical transmission systems, has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. This technique is based on a predistortion technique in an optical transmitter. Implementation to the ordinary IM-DD optical transmitter, which uses an external intensity modulator, is easily realized merely by adding a small injection current modulation to a semiconductor laser diode, allowable optical transmission fiber dispersion will be more than doubled with this technique, modified prechirp technique, which utilizes a time division superimposing prechirped bit streams, has also been investigated to achieve greater dispersion compensation capability 相似文献

We described a novel optical label swapping (OLS) technique for optical packet systems using frequency-shift-keying (FSK) optical labeling. High-speed optical FSK signal can be generated by using an external FSK modulator consisting of four optical phase modulators. The FSK modulator was based on optical single-sideband (SSB) modulation technique, and comprised of traveling-wave electrodes for high-speed frequency switching. We demonstrate 10 Gbps FSK transmission, and simultaneous modulation by FSK and intensity modulation (IM). OLS using double-sideband modulation was also demonstrated, where this technique can be used for a bundled wavelength-domain-multiplexing (WDM) channels without using an array of pumping light sources. 相似文献

在许多光电系统中,如激光雷达、激光通信、光电探测等,对其滤光和鉴频的能力提出了越来越高的要求。采用传统的光学高分辨技术满足这些应用要求,存在高光谱分辨率与系统稳定性、技术复杂性、甚至成本的矛盾,而采用基于原子跃迁的高分辨光学技术(即原子滤光技术),可以在很大程度上缓解这一矛盾。在光电系统接收端采用原子滤光技术后,在其发射端也必须采用同种原子的同种跃迁控制激光波长,从而构成了原子控制的光学信道。本文即介绍原子控制光学信道的作用、原理、构成,以及几种采用原子控制信道进行高分辨率滤光和高精度鉴频的光电系统。 相似文献

A novel `frequency quadrupling' technique for the optical generation and delivery via fibre of modulated 60 GHz band millimetre-wave signals is described. The technique requires only microwave frequency capability for the optical modulator and drive electronics, and these are readily available commercially. A novel optical carrier suppression and separation (OCSS) technique is used to generate spectral efficient DWDM optical labels and payload. The advantages and disadvantages of using different techniques to generate optical labels are compared. The transmission performance of the optical label and payload is experimentally and numerically investigated.
