An optical device with various functions is actualized by integrating vertically and directly heterojunction phototransistors and a laser diode and by adjusting the internal optical feedback. The optical amplification with a good linearity between input and output lights is realized by suppressing the internal optical feedback. The large gain of over 100 is achieved in the wide wavelength range from 0.75 to 1.25 μm. The optical thresholding function is achieved by changing the load line in the case of the optical amplification. The optical switching function with large gain and high sensitivity is obtained by utilizing the internal optical feedback most effectively. The optical bistable function is obtained when the amount of the optical feedback becomes moderate. This paper considers broadcast channels with L antennas at the base station and m single-antenna users, where L and m are typically of the same order. We assume that only partial channel state information is available at the base station through a finite rate feedback. Our key observation is that the optimal number of on-users (users turned on), say s, is a function of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and feedback rate. In support of this, an asymptotic analysis is employed where L, m and the feedback rate approach infinity linearly. We derive the asymptotic optimal feedback strategy as well as a realistic criterion to decide which users should be turned on. The corresponding asymptotic throughput per antenna, which we define as the spatial efficiency, turns out to be a function of the number of on-users s, and therefore s must be chosen appropriately. Based on the asymptotics, a scheme is developed for systems with finite many antennas and users. Compared with other studies in which s is presumed constant, our scheme achieves a significant gain. Furthermore, our analysis and scheme are valid for heterogeneous systems where different users may have different path loss coefficients and feedback rates. 相似文献

为了研究分组与线路集成系统中突发模式大功率Er/Yb共掺光纤放大器(EYDFA)的瞬态性能,在函数极限的基础上采用迭代算法,建立了基于非线性方程速率方程的、不同掺杂截面EYDFA增益瞬态的比较模型,分析比较了有/无反馈条件下,不同掺杂截面的光分组(OPS)和光线路交换(OCS)输出信号的增益瞬态.结果表明,无反馈条件下,纤芯直径为4.6m的EYDFA,其OPS和OCS输出信号功率漂移小于纤芯直径为3.6m的EYDFA,功率漂移的改善约为12%;带反馈条件下,增大掺杂光纤直径,弛豫振荡导致的EYDFA增益抖动随之减小.故增大掺杂光纤直径,能有效抑制EYDFA反馈环路的弛豫振荡. 相似文献

The performance of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) stabilized pump-laser modules is strongly influenced by changes of the state of polarization (SOP) arising from intrinsic and/or induced birefringence of the fiber. Birefringence changes the SOP as the light propagates back and forth between laser and FBG, which are separated by a distance of 1 to 2 m. As a result, the effective wavelength-selective feedback provided by the FBG varies accordingly. Based on the steady-state solution of a set of multimode rate equations we present a new model allowing us to calculate the output characteristics of a grating-stabilized pump-laser module as function of effective feedback. An effective-reflector approach is applied to describe the external cavity between the front mirror and the FBG on the module's front side. The polarization- and wavelength-dependent effective feedback from the grating is taken into account by a feedback parameter in the equations for the effective reflector. We present an extended traveling-wave amplifier model for calculating the TE- and TM-polarized contributions to the power from all output ports of the module. Our model is verified by comparison of simulation results with experimental data for a typical FBG-stabilized pump-laser module. The output characteristics are analyzed as function of effective feedback for both the principal TE-polarization as well as the residual TM-polarization modes. 相似文献

We report on a distributed feedback InGaAsP MQW laser with air/semiconductor gratings embedded by wafer-fusion technique with the assistance of mass-transport phenomenon for the first time. The air/semiconductor gratings with 0.4-/spl mu/m period and 0.2-/spl mu/m depth are successfully fabricated inside the device, and a single longitudinal mode oscillation at about 1.28 /spl mu/m is demonstrated under pulsed condition at room temperature. The threshold current density is estimated to be about 1.4 kA/cm/sup 2/. It is also shown that the device has a surface-emitting function since it has a low loss multiquantum-well waveguide with grating output coupler. 相似文献

A programmable four-tap analog finite-impulse-response filter for use in a decision-feedback equalizer has been realized in a 2-μm double-poly CMOS process. It uses a modified transposed structure and double sampling to minimize power dissipation. Also, it uses programmable-gain sample-and-hold amplifiers with a constant feedback factor, input capacitance, and load to reduce the performance variation as a function of programming.
