A specially prepared alkylamino dye and a crosslinking agent precursor, hexamethylene tetramine (HMTA), have been applied together to wool fabric to achieve level fast dyeings. Two models of temporarily anionic sulphatoethylsulphone reactive disperse dyes were applied to wool, polyester and wool/polyester blend fabrics at different dyeing pH. Maximum exhaustion values and colour yield were observed at pH 7. The results showed that reactive disperse dyes containing bis‐sulphatoethylsulphone reactive groups were more convenient for neutral dyeing of wool and wool/polyester blend fabrics if compared with a dye containing a mono‐sulphatoethylsulphone group. Excellent to very good wet fastness properties on all dyed fabrics were achieved. 相似文献

This paper describes the behaviour observed during integration dyeing of a cross-wound wool package with an anionic dye of the supermilling type. The relationships between levelness and the variables dosing time, temperature, liquor flow rate and dye concentration in the fibre, at pH conditions corresponding to the isoelectric point of wool were examined. An increase in the flow rate and of the dye concentration during the dosing was found to improve dyeing levelness, while an increase in temperature and a decrease in dosing time impaired levelness. 相似文献

Wool dyed with two isomeric water‐soluble spirooxazine‐based photochromic acid dyes, which were specifically designed and synthesised for direct application to protein and polyamide substrates, showed reversible change from a pale yellowish colour to blue when exposed to sunlight or UV light. With the first dye, significantly higher photochromic colour change was obtained when the wool was bleached, a feature attributed to a more open fibre structure which may facilitate penetration of the non‐planar dye anion and also the photocoloration reaction which requires a change in molecular geometry. Experimentation demonstrated that the optimum conditions for application of this dye to wool was from an aqueous dyebath at neutral pH and a temperature of 60 °C. An investigation using HPLC demonstrated that the dye was susceptible to decomposition in aqueous solution at higher temperatures and at lower pH values. The second dye was also applied to wool fabric to give a fabric with similar photochromic properties. The technical performance of the dyed fabrics, in terms of washfastness and photostability, was assessed. 相似文献

This paper demonstrates that reactive dyes exert a significant fibre–protective effect when dyeing wool fabric; this effect may be measured, in a reproducible manner, using the wet–burst strength test. The effect of dyebath pH, dye concentration, dyebath temperature and dyeing time on wool can thus be evaluated. The magnitude of the above protective effect has been compared with that achieved using commercially available fibre–protective agents. It is concluded that reactive dyes are significantly more effective than the latter agents when employed in medium to full depths. It is proposed that the unusual protective effect afforded by reactive dyes is related to the following factors. Reactive dyes readily react with sulphur nucleophiles, thus inhibiting thiol–disulphide interchange reactions and thereby significantly interfering with the level of set produced in a boiling dyebath. Reactive dyes react preferentially with non–keratinous proteins in the intercellular cement and the endocuticle thus reducing their tendency to hydrolyse and to partially dissolve in the hot aqueous dyebath. 相似文献

The dyeing behaviour during the dyeing cycle of a Sumifix Supra dye and some other commercial reactive dyes under various dyebath pH conditions was investigated. Freshwater is an increasingly scarce resource that is extensively used in textile wet‐processing. In seeking to identify alternative low freshwater‐usage coloration technology, this study examined the potential use of seawater (SEAW) as the dyeing medium for wool coloration using a range of reactive dyes. Initially, the dyeing behaviour of the wool fabric in simulated seawater (SSW) was compared with conventional dyeing from distilled water (DW) using α‐bromoacrylamide‐based Lanasol dyes and sulphatoethyl sulphone‐based Remazol dyes. These preliminary studies demonstrated that comparable coloration could be achieved in the SSW medium based on an assessment of the dye exhaustion, dye fixation, colour yield and levelness. Subsequent dyeing studies of wool using Mauritian seawater with both the Lanasol and Remazol reactive dyes confirmed that, based on the dye exhaustion, dye fixation, colour yield and levelness, comparable coloration could be achieved, highlighting the possibility of substituting freshwater with seawater as the dyeing medium. 相似文献

The use of multilamellar lipid vesicles as carriers of disperse dyes on wool fibres has been studied. Liposomes made from egg phosphatidylcholine containing the anthraquinone dye CI Disperse Violet 1 at different phospholipid/dye concentrations were used. The physical stability of these systems was assessed by measuring the mean vesicle size distribution of lipid vesicle suspensions after preparation and during dyeing. Kinetic aspects involving dye adsorption and bonding on untreated and chlorinated wool samples by means of the liposomes at different dye/lipid ratios were also investigated. This process led to the controlled dye exhaustion on wool, directly dependent on the relationship between the dye and lipid components, with a clear improvement in the dye-fibre bonding forces and in the dispersing efficiency, compared with conventional dispersing agents. The optimum dye exhaustion was reached for the dye/phospholipid concentrations 0.53 and 1.0 mmol/l respectively. The maximum amounts of dye bonded on untreated wool fibre were obtained for the same dye/lipid molar ratio. However, chlorinated wool samples showed a slight decrease in the total bonded dye as the chlorination level increased. 相似文献

A series of reactive cationic dyes containing the monofluorotriazine structure has been synthesised and their dyeing behaviour on wool, acrylic and a 50:50 wool/acrylic blend studied using a one-bath method. The results indicate that reactive cationic dyes having this structure give a high level of exhaustion and fixation on these fibres. Pretreatment of wool fibres with nonionic auxiliary products recommended for low-temperature dyeing resulted in an increase in dyebath exhaustion and a faster rate of dyeing. This indicated that the auxiliary product was absorbed to a certain extent by the wool. Disperse dye distribution on polyester and wool during one-bath dyeing of wool/polyester blends is discussed. The addition of carriers increases the wool's intrinsic saturation value for disperse dye, thus raising the degree of staining on the wool component at the low dye uptakes. However, staining can be minimised if the dyeing is close to or attains equilibrium conditions. Sequestering agents can accelerate the disperse dye diffusion out of the wool fibre, further reducing staining on wool and transferring more disperse dyes from wool to polyester. Citric acid can be used as a sequestering agent as well as a pH adjusting agent. 相似文献

Experiments were conducted to investigate the ultraviolet irradiation of wool fabric as a pretreatment for differential dyeing. Wool fabric was irradiated using a medium‐pressure mercury lamp in order to obtain, on the irradiated area, increased dye uptake under the same dyeing conditions as untreated wool. The chemical modification of the fibre surface as a result of ultraviolet irradiation was confirmed by an increase in metal ion absorption and hydrophilicity, in agreement with Fourier Transform‐infrared–attenuated total reflectance spectra, although scanning electron microscopy showed that the fibre morphology was unaffected. A selection of 1:1 metal‐complex dyes was used to show the maximum colour difference between irradiated and untreated areas of the fabric. The experiments focused on two effects: a double face with the same shade but different depths (greater depth on the treated side), and a double face with different shades. The latter effect was achieved by dyeing the irradiated fabrics with mixtures of acid and metal‐complex dyes. Rubbing and washing fastness evaluations at 50 °C confirmed that the dyeings after irradiation with the selected 1:1 metal‐complex dyes scored identically to conventional dyeings. 相似文献

The wool dyeing properties, such as exhaustion and fixation parameters, of selected hetero-bifunctional Sumifix Supra dyes and some other commercial reactive dyes were quantified under various dyebath pH conditions. Studies of the dyeing of wool serge fabric indicated that Sumifix Supra dyes could produce reasonably high fixation values. However, remarkably improved fixation values were obtained when these dyes were pre-activated to the vinylsulphone form and dyed in this form, especially at low pH values (pH 4 or lower). 相似文献

Pretreated wool/acrylic fibre was obtained by a facile amidoximation process. Fibre characterisation (nitrogen content, tensile strength, shrinkage, infrared spectra and X‐ray diffraction) proved the success of the pretreatment. Union dyeing of wool/acrylic fabrics with acid and reactive dyes, namely CI Acid Red 40, CI Acid Blue 25, CI Reactive Red 194 and CI Reactive Blue 25, was obtained using a one‐bath dyeing process. Different factors that may affect the dyeability of the blend fibre, such as dyebath pH, liquor ratio, temperature, time and dye concentration, were evaluated with respect to the dye exhaustion, fixation, colour strength, levelling and fastness properties. Excellent to good fastness was obtained for all samples, irrespective of the dye used. The result of the investigation offers a new viable method for union dyeing of wool/acrylic fibres in a one‐dyebath process. 相似文献

The feasibility of wool fabrics pretreated with a chitosan/nonionic surfactant mixture and dyed with reactive dyes was studied. The results showed that the presence of the chitosan/surfactant improved the application to wool, which greatly enhanced the color strength when dyed at 50°C but little change was observed when dyed at 80°C. The higher the concentration of chitosan/surfactant added, the greater was the color strength of the dyed wool fabrics. The amounts found to be optimum for dyeing were 0.5% chitosan and 1.0% surfactant. The washing fastness of the dyed wool fabrics was in the range of grades 4–5, the dry rubbing fastness was in the range of grades 4–5, and the wet rubbing fastness was in the range of grades 3–4. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Although levelling agents for reactive dyes have been on the market for more than twenty years, there still remains some uncertainty as to their mode of action. Therefore an investigation has been carried out, using Albegal B as a typical levelling agent and reactive dyes from the Lanasol range. There are three mechanisms proposed to describe how auxiliaries such as Albegal B can act to overcome tip/root unlevelness when dyeing wool fibres: a dye complex mechanism, a surface mechanism and a fibre mechanism. Polylactic acid (PLA) fibre as a new generation of eco-friendly polyester fibre is expected to substitute polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibre to be an important textile fibre raw material. However, there exist severe strength loss and light dyeing colour by the traditional water bath dyeing method, which seriously affect the promotion and application of PLA fibre in the textile fields. Therefore, it is necessary to study waterless dyeing method for PLA. Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) possesses excellent physical and chemical properties with the characteristics of odourless, non-flammable, and stable to various chemicals, which has been studied to be used as a waterless dyeing medium for PET fabric. In this study, D5 was selected as the medium to study the waterless dyeing process and properties for PLA. The effects of disperse dye dosage, dyeing temperature, dyeing time and liquor ratio on the dyeing properties of PLA fabric were investigated. The results showed that the optimal dyeing process conditions were as follows: the dye dosage was 4%, dyeing temperature and time were 120°C and 40 min, respectively, and the liquor ratio was 1:10. Then PLA was dyed by three different colour disperse dyes using the optimal process which were compared with the traditional water bath. The results showed that the properties of dyed PLA fabrics with D5 could reach the dyeing effect of the traditional water bath method, while causing less influence on its mechanical property. Therefore, this research proved that D5 can be used as a dyeing medium for PLA fabric to substitute the traditional water bath dyeing. 相似文献
