In this study, fundamental and practical influence of liquid refrigerant injection on the performance of a refrigerant scroll compressor has been investigated experimentally and theoretically. In the theoretical analysis, a compression model of vapor/liquid mixture is developed by taking account of heat transfer from the cylinder wall to suction, compression and injection refrigerant. An experiment has been done under the condition of keeping the oil temperature constant in order to investigate the fundamental influence of the liquid refrigerant injection on the compressor performance, and the results were compared with the theoretical ones. It was found that the injection basically increases the compression power and decreases the compressor efficiency, though the situation depends on the condition of the heat transfer to the injection refrigerant. And furthermore, the performance of the liquid refrigerant injection compressor under practical operating condition without controlling the oil temperature has been investigated. Under this condition, the compressor showed recovery and slight improvement of performance due to the decrease of the oil and cylinder temperatures by the injection. In addition, influence of the refrigerant injection on the oil viscosity and refrigerant solubility in the oil, which relate mechanical loss and reliability of the compressor, have been discussed.  相似文献

In a refrigerant compressor, improvement in performance such as reduction of various electrical and mechanical losses, reduction of gas leakage, better lubrication, reduction of suction gas heating etc. can be achieved by maintaining a low temperature rise inside the compressor. Proper selection and location of an internal over load protector relay, estimation of heat transfer coefficient and winding insulation coefficient are also vital in enhancing the performance. In this context it is necessary to understand the temperature distribution inside a compressor for an optimal design. In this paper, a numerical model has been created and a heat transfer analysis for a hermetically sealed reciprocating refrigerant compressor is presented. The temperature distribution inside the compressor has been obtained taking into consideration the various heat sources and sinks and compared with experimental results. The maximum temperature was observed at the rotor which was 427.5 K. The deviation of the predicted rotor temperature from that of experimental value is 5.5% only. A good agreement was found between experimental results and that predicted in the numerical analysis.  相似文献

This study presents a prediction model for the condensation heat transfer characteristics of binary zeotropic refrigerant mixtures inside horizontal smooth tubes. In this model, both the vapor-side and liquid-side mass transfers are considered, and the high flux mass transfer correction factor is used to evaluate mass transfer coefficients. The model was applied to the binary zeotropic refrigerant mixture R134a/R123, which has a large temperature glide. Calculation results showed that the heat transfer degradation of R134a/R123 due to gradients in the mass fraction and temperature is considerable, and depends on the mass fraction of the more volatile component and the vapor mass quality of the refrigerant mixture. By comparison with experimental data, incorporating the present finite mass transfer model for the liquid film side into the calculation algorithm was shown to reasonably well predict the condensation heat transfer coefficients of binary refrigerant mixtures with the mean deviation of about 10.3%. In the present calculations, however, it was also found that the high flux mass transfer correction factor had only a slight effect on the condensation heat transfer.  相似文献

Simulation analyses for a vapour compression heat pump cycle using nonazeotropic refrigerant mixtures (NARMs) of R22 and R114 are conducted under the condition that the heat pump thermal output and the flow rate and inlet temperatures of the heat sink and source water are given. The heat transfer coefficients of the condensation and evaporation are calculated with empirical correlations proposed by the authors. The validity of the evaluation method and the correlations is demonstrated by comparison with experimental data. The relations between the coefficient of performance (COP) and composition are shown under two conditions: (1) the constant heat transfer length of the condenser and evaporator; and (2) the constant temperature of refrigerant at the heat exchanger inlet. The COP of the NARMs is higher than that of pure refrigerant when the heat transfer lengths of the condenser and evaporator are sufficiently long.  相似文献

This paper presents the experimental heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop measured during refrigerant R134a vaporisation inside a small brazed plate heat exchanger (BPHE): the effects of heat flux, refrigerant mass flux, saturation temperature and outlet conditions are investigated. The BPHE tested consists of 10 plates, 72 mm in width and 310 mm in length, which present a macro-scale herringbone corrugation with an inclination angle of 65° and corrugation amplitude of 2 mm.The experimental results are reported in terms of refrigerant side heat transfer coefficients and frictional pressure drop. The heat transfer coefficients show great sensitivity both to heat flux and outlet conditions and weak sensitivity to saturation temperature. The frictional pressure drop shows a linear dependence on the kinetic energy per unit volume of the refrigerant flow. The experimental heat transfer coefficients are also compared with two well-known correlations for nucleate pool boiling and a correlation for frictional pressure drop is proposed.  相似文献

Micro heat pumps, with dimensions in the order of centimetres, may in the future be utilised for the heating and/or cooling of buildings, vehicles, clothing, and other products or applications. A number of issues have yet to be solved, including the construction of a microscale compressor, and determination of micro heat exchanger heat transfer capacities. Test samples of micro heat exchangers and a corresponding test apparatus have been built. Some two-phase experiments with propane (R-290) as refrigerant have been conducted. Preliminary results for a micro condenser with 0.5 mm wide trapezoidal channels of 25 mm length showed that a heat flux of up to 135 kW/m2, based on the refrigerant-side area, was attainable. The corresponding overall heat transfer coefficient was 10 kW/(m2 K), with a refrigerant mass flux of 165 kg/(m2 s) and a refrigerant-side pressure drop of 180 kPa/m.  相似文献

Performance of a heat pump system using hydrocarbon refrigerants has been investigated experimentally. Single component hydrocarbon refrigerants (propane, isobutane, butane and propylene) and binary mixtures of propane/isobutane and propane/butane are considered as working fluids in a heat pump system. The heat pump system consists of compressor, condenser, evaporator, and expansion device with auxiliary facilities such as evacuating and charging unit, the secondary heat transfer fluid circulation unit, and several measurement units. Performance of each refrigerant is compared at several compressor speeds and temperature levels of the secondary heat transfer fluid. Coefficient of performance (COP) and cooling/heating capacity of hydrocarbon refrigerants are presented. Experimental results show that some hydrocarbon refrigerants are comparable to R22. Condensation and evaporation heat transfer coefficients of selected refrigerants are obtained from overall conductance measurements for subsections of heat exchangers, and compared with those of R22. It is found that heat transfer is degraded for hydrocarbon refrigerant mixtures due to composition variation with phase change. Empirical correlations to estimate heat transfer coefficients for pure and mixed hydrocarbons are developed, and they show good agreement with experimental data. Some hydrocarbon refrigerants have better performance characteristics than R22.  相似文献

The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop during gas cooling process of CO2 (R744) in a horizontal tube were investigated experimentally. The experiments are conducted without oil in the refrigerant loop. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flow meter, a pre-heater and a gas cooler (test section). The water loop consists of a variable speed pump, an isothermal tank, and a flow meter. The refrigerant, circulated by the variable-speed pump, condenses in the inner tube while water flows in the annulus. The gas cooler of tube diameter is 6000 mm in length, and it is divided into 12 subsections. The pressure drop of CO2 in the gas cooler shows a relatively good agreement with those predicted by Blasius's correlation. The local heat transfer coefficient of CO2 agrees well with the correlation by Bringer–Smith. However, at the region near Pseudo-critical temperature, the experiments indicate higher values than the Bringer–Smith correlation. Based on the experimental data presented in this paper, a new correlation to predict the heat transfer coefficient of supercritical CO2 during in-tube cooling has been developed. The majority of the experimental values are within 18% of the values predicted by the new correlation.  相似文献

In this work, an unsteady state analysis of the compression cycle of a small hermetic reciprocating compressor for domestic refrigeration was carried out. A specific one-dimensional model of the valves was developed and the mass and energy balances were applied to the refrigerant inside the cylinder to determine the mass, pressure and temperature behaviour and the heat and work transfer through the compression process. This analysis was inserted into a traditional steady state model of the compressor to evaluate the efficiency of the compression cycle and the performance of the compressor unit. The whole simulation code was validated against the experimental measurements carried out on a R134a commercial unit in a wide range of operative conditions: a fair agreement was found between predicted and measured performances. The simulation code can be a useful tool for the analysis, the design and the development of small hermetic reciprocating compressors for domestic refrigeration.  相似文献

This paper outlines the framework of a semi-theoretical model for predicting the pool boiling heat transfer of refrigerant/lubricant mixtures on a roughened, horizontal, flat pool-boiling surface. The predictive model is based on the mechanisms involved in the formation of the lubricant excess layer that exists on the heat transfer surface. The lubricant accumulates on the surface in excess of the bulk concentration via preferential evaporation of the refrigerant from the bulk refrigerant/lubricant mixture. As a result, excess lubricant resides in a thin layer on the surface and influences the boiling performance, giving either an enhancement or degradation in heat transfer. A dimensionless excess layer parameter and a thermal boundary layer constant were derived and fitted to data in an attempt to generalize the model to other refrigerant/lubricant mixtures. The model inputs include transport and thermodynamic refrigerant properties and the lubricant composition, viscosity, and critical solution temperature with the refrigerant. The model predicts the boiling heat transfer coefficient of three different mixtures of R123 and lubricant to within ±10%. Comparisons of heat transfer predictions to measurements for 13 different refrigerant/lubricant mixtures were made, including two different refrigerants and three different lubricants.  相似文献

This paper presents the experimental tests on HFC-134a condensation inside a small brazed plate heat exchanger: the effects of refrigerant mass flux, saturation temperature and vapour super-heating are investigated.A transition point between gravity controlled and forced convection condensation has been found for a refrigerant mass flux around 20 kg/m2 s. For refrigerant mass flux lower than 20 kg/m2 s, the saturated vapour heat transfer coefficients are not dependent on mass flux and are well predicted by the Nusselt [Nusselt, W., 1916. Die oberflachenkondensation des wasserdampfes. Z. Ver. Dt. Ing. 60, 541–546, 569–575] analysis for vertical surface. For refrigerant mass flux higher than 20 kg/m2 s, the saturated vapour heat transfer coefficients depend on mass flux and are well predicted by the Akers et al. [Akers, W.W., Deans, H.A., Crosser, O.K., 1959. Condensing heat transfer within horizontal tubes. Chem. Eng. Prog. Symp. Ser. 55, 171–176] equation. In the forced convection condensation region, the heat transfer coefficients show a 30% increase for a doubling of the refrigerant mass flux. The condensation heat transfer coefficients of super-heated vapour are 8–10% higher than those of saturated vapour and are well predicted by the Webb [Webb, R.L., 1998. Convective condensation of superheated vapour. ASME J. Heat Transfer 120, 418–421] model. The heat transfer coefficients show weak sensitivity to saturation temperature. The frictional pressure drop shows a linear dependence on the kinetic energy per unit volume of the refrigerant flow and therefore a quadratic dependence on the refrigerant mass flux.  相似文献

The thermal behaviour of a new two-phase secondary refrigerant has been analysed. The “stabilised ice slurry” is a suspension in a low viscosity oil of ultraporous polymeric particles filled with water. In order to determine the convective heat transfer coefficient of this secondary refrigerant with water–ice phase change, an experimental set-up was built. It allows determining the local heat transfer coefficients inside two heat exchangers, having rectangular sections (80 × 8 mm2) of 1 m length, by mean of fluxmeters located along the working section. The slurry is first cooled and frozen in one of the exchangers, then heated and melted in the other exchanger. The results obtained for laminar or transitional flows shows that the heat transfer coefficients of the ice slurry are obviously higher than the heat transfer coefficients obtained with the single-phase fluid (oil). Correlations giving the local and global Nusselt numbers, depending on the Graetz or Reynolds numbers and on the particle mass fraction, have been established.  相似文献

A plate-type evaporator, working with natural refrigerant circulation, has been investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Motivated by the phase-out of ozone-depleting substances, HCFC22 was compared to HFC134a and two zeotropic refrigerant mixtures. The effect of different separator liquid levels, i.e. refrigerant flows, and its influence on heat transfer was also studied. The investigated plate-type evaporator consists of thirteen vertical flow channels and its size is 3.0 m × 0.5 m. The heat source for the evaporator is a falling water film on the outside of the plate. Experimental studies have been carried out using a test facility that enabled detailed measurements of heat transfer and pressure drop. Experiments were compared to results from a calculation method that simultaneously calculates heat transfer and pressure drop in a variable number of steps along the evaporator. The calculation method is based on a pressure drop correlation proposed by the VDI-Wärmeatlas and a heat transfer correlation for vertical tubes proposed by Steiner and Taborek. For different evaporator duties, heat transfer was over predicted by 12% for pure fluids by 15% for mixtures. Calculated pressure drops were well within ±5% of the measured values. Changes in heat transfer due to different flows were closely predicted by the proposed calculation method.  相似文献

This paper describes experimental results that show the effects of mass velocity and condensation temperature difference on the local heat transfer characteristics during condensation of R407C in a horizontal microfin tube. The experiments were performed at the saturation temperature of 40 °C, the refrigerant mass velocity of 50, 100, 200 and 300 kg m−2 s−1, and the condensation temperature difference of 1.5, 2.5 and 4.5 K. A superficial heat transfer coefficient for the vapor phase was obtained by subtracting the heat transfer resistance of condensate film estimated by using a previously developed theoretical model of film condensation of pure vapor from the overall heat transfer resistance. On the basis of the analogy between heat and mass transfer, an empirical equation for the superficial vapor phase heat transfer coefficient was developed. The heat transfer coefficient predicted by the combination of the previously developed theoretical model of film condensation of pure vapor and the empirical equation of the superficial vapor phase heat transfer coefficient agreed with the measured values with the r.m.s. error of 9.2%.  相似文献

A new way to assess the performance of refrigeration system models is presented in this paper, based on the estimation of cycle parameters, such as the evaporation temperature which will determine the validity of the method. This paper is the first of a series which will also study the influence of the heat transfer coefficient models on the estimation of the refrigeration cycle parameters. It focuses on fin and tube evaporators and includes the dehumidification process of humid air. The flow through the heat exchanger is considered to be steady and the refrigerant flow inside the tubes is considered one-dimensional. The evaporator model is discretised in cells where 1D mass, momentum and energy conservation equations are solved by using an iterative procedure called SEWTLE. This procedure is based on decoupling the calculation of the fluid flows from each other assuming that the tube temperature field is known at each fluid iteration. Special attention is paid to the correlations utilised for the evaluation of heat transfer coefficients as well as the friction factor on the air and on the refrigerant side. A comparison between calculated values and measured results is made on the basis of the evaporation temperature. The experimental results used in this work correspond to an air-to-water heat pump and have been obtained by using R-22 and R-290 as refrigerants.  相似文献

This paper describes the influence of a low viscosity polyolester based lubricating oil on the pool boiling heat transfer of the refrigerant R507. The pool boiling heat transfer coefficients for this refrigerant–oil mixture are measured on a smooth tube and on an enhanced tube. The investigation is made for oil mass fractions up to 10% and for saturation temperatures between −28.6°C and +20.1°C. For the smooth tube the heat transfer increases for increasing oil mass fractions up to 3% at lower saturation temperatures. At higher saturation temperatures the heat transfer decreases for increasing oil mass fractions for both tubes. For oil mass fractions greater than 1% at the higher saturation temperatures a range of decreasing heat transfer coefficient is found for increasing heat flux. The effect is caused by the different miscibility of the oil and the components of the refrigerant mixture.  相似文献

In a flooded evaporator of an ammonia vapor-compression refrigeration system, boiling commonly takes place with ammonia mixed with compressor lubricant and subjected to a vapor quality at the inlet of the evaporator. In the present study, flooded boiling tests of ammonia on an enhanced tube under simultaneous influence of a miscible lubricant and inlet quality were conducted. The results suggest that the boiling heat transfer coefficient increases with both saturation temperature and heat flux. The coefficient slightly increases or does not significantly vary with the inlet quality. The coefficient in general is decreased by adding lubricant to the refrigerant, but the coefficient does not necessarily decrease as the lubricant concentration increases. The lubricant effect is generally more significant than the inlet quality effect. A correlation was developed based on the present data for flooded boiling of lubricant/ammonia mixture on an enhanced horizontal tube under the influence of inlet quality.  相似文献

Outside (refrigerant) boiling coefficients for a combination of spray and drip boiling for a low pressure refrigerant have been obtained from overall heat transfer coefficients in a 1024 fins per meter tube bundle segment. The tubes were heated by water on the inside; liquid refrigerant was sprayed and/or dripped on the outside. Also, refrigerant vapor was supplied at the bottom of the bundle segment. This configuration simulates an actual flooded evaporator under spray boiling conditions. The dripping corresponds to liquid film falling from upper rows while the inlet vapor is equivalent to the vaporized refrigerant rising from lower tubes; the refrigerant vapor can influence heat transfer performance by the combined effects of gas convection and liquid shear on the tubes. For a nominal heat flux of 23,975 W/m2, a bundle average outside heat transfer coefficient of 8522 W/m2 °C, based on nominal tube outer diameter, was found at an average bundle vapor mass flux equal to 12.4 kg/s m2. The distributor plate below the bundle enhanced the heat transfer, especially at lower vapor mass fluxes, by providing a level of liquid hold-up just below the bottom tube row.  相似文献

This paper presents the heat transfer characteristics obtained from an experimental investigation on flow boiling of n-pentane across a horizontal tube bundle. The tubes are plain with an outside diameter of 19.05 mm and the bundle arrangement is inverse staggered with a pitch to diameter ratio of 1.33. The test conditions consist of reduced pressure between 0.006 and 0.015, mass velocity from 14 to 44 kg/m2s, heat flux up to 60 kW/m2 and vapor quality up to 60%. The convective evaporation is found to have a significant effect on the heat transfer coefficient, coexisting with nucleate boiling. An asymptotic model allows the prediction of the heat transfer data with a fitted value of n=1.5. A strong mass velocity effect is observed for the enhancement factor, implying that the correlations available from the literature for the convective evaporation will fail in predicting the present data. This effect decreases as the mass velocity increases.  相似文献
