重庆若瑟堂探析

若瑟堂是重庆市至今保存最完好、最古老的天主教堂。虽然其外观及内部空间都极为简洁朴素,很少装饰,但其平面形制、建筑构图元素和形体比例仍体现出成熟的哥特建筑的典型特征,并与重庆的地形条件和地方建筑环境相融合,因而在重庆建筑历史遗产中应占有一定的地位。本文通过对重庆若瑟堂的考察研究和分析,指出其作为宗教建筑的历史文化价值和建筑艺术特色。     

In Conversation: Peter Zumthor and Juhani Pallasmaa

The ‘New Nordic – Architecture & Identity’ exhibition (July–September 2012) at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark is significant for the way that it has defined architectural identity in a Northern European context. Here its co-curator, Michael Asgaard Andersen , provides an edited version of a conversation between Juhani Pallasmaa and Peter Zumthor that was featured on a large screen at the show and included at full length in the museum catalogue.

Comings and Goings

As a throwback to the idealism of the 1970s, with its contemporary layering of ‘obscure language, extreme ideas and incomprehensible rhetoric’, is EcoRedux helpful to architects? Brian Carter , Professor and Dean at the School of Architecture and Planning at the State University of New York at Buffalo, thinks so. A licensed architect in the UK, who most recently worked in practice with Arup Associates in London before taking up an academic position in North America, Carter regards environmental issues as a single but important aspect of design. He urges architects and architectural educators to make the direct engagement with the difficulties of designing and constructing buildings their priority. Urban American Landscape

Landscape architecture has emerged from the deep sleep it entered during the Modernist period and remained in for most of the 20th century. Now, valued because of the environmental movement, stimulated by collaborations with architects and artists, and presented with opportunities to transform abandoned industrial sites, landscape architects are enthusiastically producing new kinds of parks on brownfields, along waterfronts, even on rooftops and in garbage dumps. 古建筑测绘课程是建筑学、城市规划专业本科教学的综合实践环节,也是中国建筑史课程的主要组成部分。由于中国建筑史是以北方官式建筑为教学对象,学生对河西走廊等地域性传统建筑认知薄弱,应积极寻求合适的教学方法,拓展学生的专业视野,使其了解更多的古建筑知识。文章以天津大学建筑学院2010年武威文庙及大云寺测绘、2013年民勤圣容寺测绘为例,分析在不同条件下如何加深学生对河西走廊传统建筑的认识,完成测绘教学工作。

现代建筑认知教学笔记--以托利多美术馆玻璃展示馆为例

为了使学生形成自主的建筑观,笔者所在建筑系开设现代建筑认知课程,旨在引导学生学习建筑、分析建筑、理解建筑。本文以托莱多美术馆玻璃展示馆的认知教学为例,对整个授课过程的教学引导和互动部分、以及学生作业成果进行评述,并从感官建筑要素、建筑直接影响要素、建筑间接影响要素反思建筑认知的切入点。     

泰山玉泉寺布局理法与复原研究

玉泉寺是泰山东北麓佛教美景的典范。通过文献考证和实地考察,理清其历史脉络、分析其相地选址艺术特色、复原其鼎盛期时的建筑格局。其选址位于返倒山山腰之上,符合风水学要求的“四灵”模式条件,巧妙地利用了有利的山水环境和位置,达到了“天人合一”的效果。寺院建造充分结合地形,巧夺天工。鼎盛时期建筑布局错落有致,与优美的自然环境交互融合,成为泰山地区最具特色和代表性的古刹之一。     

Hello Stranger: Phenomenology and Topography of the Megacity

Caroline Bos of UNStudio counters the city theme of this issue of Architectural Design with the spectre of the megacity. The very recent emergence and scale of the Asian megacity, she argues, requires a very different architectural treatment to the European or North American metropolis. It is one that should be understood through an experiential approach that brings to the fore spatial and visual relations between people, and people and things, asking, for instance, how so many strangers can be so visibly at home in public urban space.

重庆市天主教仁爱堂文物建筑研究

重庆市天主教仁爱堂被列入重庆市历史文物保护建筑名列,然而却被研究人员在教堂研究中忽略。仁爱堂与欧洲教堂相比装饰性减少,但继承了欧洲教堂建筑的比例、构图元素和母题,并在部分细节上与中国建筑特色相融合,其典雅朴素的外观使其虽然多次易主依然保留较为完整。仁爱堂是研究上世纪中西建筑融合的较好实例,具有历史保护与研究价值。     

The Ethics of the Imperative

The bald desire to innovate is not sufficient in itself. To go beyond mere technical invention and make a positive difference, innovation requires an engagement with overall ethical intent. Here, Guest-Editor Pia Ednie-Brown espouses a design ethos that values an open-ended approach to architectural innovation. She illustrates the ethical impact of implementing new technologies with two opposing paradigms – one dark and one affirmative – as exemplified by two classic films from 1968: 2001: A Space Odyssey and Barbarella.
