Fatigue damage development in two aluminium matrix (Al7SiO.6Mg and Al5Si-3Cu1Mg) composites reinforced with discontinuous Al2O3 fibres has been monitored by means of acoustic emission (AE). The AE signals (RMS) recorded during the tests clearly exhibit three distinct stages which correspond to crack initiation, dominant crack formation and stable propagation. Generally speaking, the cracks initiated at a high load level form close together and a dominant crack forms easily. By contrast, at a low load, initiated cracks are widely separated and the formation of a dominant crack is difficult. If there are large defects in the composite, the first stage is absent, even at low load. In the first stage, little change in microstructure and modulus of the composite is observed; in the second, fibre fracture, interface debonding and matrix cracking occur and there are often sinusoidal cracks in the matrix; in the last stage, the principal characteristic is stable propagation of the dominant crack. The degradation of the elastic modulus of the composite in the last two stages is small.  相似文献

Using the multiphase equilibrium method for the measurement of contact angles, the surface and grain-boundary energies of polycrystalline Al2O3 in the temperature range of 1473 to 1923 K were determined. Linear temperature functions were obtained by extrapolation for both quantities between absolute zero and the melting point of Al2O3. The temperature dependence of the surface and grain boundary energies can be expressed as $$\gamma _{{\rm A}l_2 O_3 } = 2.559 - 0.784 \times 10^{ - 3} T(J m^{ - 2} )$$ and $$\gamma _{{\rm A}l_2 O_3 - Al_2 O_3 = } 1.913 - 0.611 \times 10^{ - 3} T(J m^{ - 2} )$$ respectively. The interfacial energies of Al2O3 in contact with the molten metals tin and cobalt revealed a linear dependence on temperature.  相似文献

低价硫化铝法从氧化铝直接炭还原制铝的动力学过程极为复杂,过程的前期受界面化学反应控制,过程后期受扩散过程控制,并求得不同时期的活化能,反应前期:E1=63.81 kJ/mol(6.67 Pa)、E2=50.82 kJ/mol(66.7 Pa)、E3=54.72 kJ/mol(666.7 Pa)、E4=39.61 kJ/mol(1333 Pa);反应后期:E*1=112.90 kJ/mol(6.67 Pa)、E*2=89.92 kJ/mol(66.7 Pa)、E*3=97.32 kJ/mol(666.7 Pa)、E*4=51.83 kJ/mol(1333 Pa).从动力学的角度提出了反应的较佳条件.温度、真空度的提高一方面可增大反应速率,但另一方面却加大了硫化铝的挥发,仅从增大速率而言,温度应大于1100 ℃,真空度应优于1333 Pa为宜.  相似文献

The subject of the work was to study the effect of Ti thin film on alumina ceramic on mechanical strength and fracture character of Al2O3/Al/Al2O3 joints. The joints were formed by liquid state bonding of alumina substrates covered with titanium thin film of 800 nm thickness using Al interlayer of 30μm thickness at temperature of 973 K in a vacuum of 0.2 mPa for 5 min. The bend strength was measured by four–point bending test at room temperature. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy were applied for detailed characterization of interface structure and failure character of fractured joint surfaces. Result analysis has shown that application of the Ti thin film on alumina leads to decrease of bond strength properties of Al2O3/Al/Al2O3 joints along with the change either of structure and chemistry of interface or of failure character.  相似文献

Al2O3 and Al2O3/ZrO2 composites have been fabricated by slip casting from aqueous suspensions. The physical and structural characteristics of the starting powders, composition of the suspensions, casting behaviour, microstructure of the green and fired bodies and the mechanical properties of the products were investigated. The addition of ZrO2 to Al2O3 leads to a significant increase in fracture toughness when ZrO2 particles are retained in the tetragonal form (transformation-toughening mechanism) but when microcracking (due to the spontaneous transformation of ZrO2 from the tetragonal phase to the monoclinic one) is dominant, an excellent toughness value is accompanied by a drastic drop in strength and hardness.  相似文献

在综述Al/Al2O3复合材料制备工艺的基础上,提出了将石英玻璃浸入铝镕体中,通过Al向SiO2玻璃中的反应浸渗.制备Al/Al2O3复合材料的新方法.获得了Al与Al2O3相互连通的Al/Al2O3复合材料.由于玻璃具有容易被加工成各种形状零件的特点,通过Al液向致密玻璃坯体的反应浸渗,可以获得近成形的Al/Al2O3复合材料.实验结果发现,由于Al/Al2O3中不存在孔隙,Al/Al2O3的弯曲强度和断裂韧性分别可达430MPa和13MPa·m1/2,其性能优于用Lanxide工艺制备的Al/Al2O3.  相似文献

Alumina is widely used as a biomaterial because of its high biocompatibility and its good mechanical properties except toughness. In this study, a composite material Al2O3–TiN is considered as an alternative, the addition of TiN improving the mechanical properties of alumina. The wear behaviour of Al2O3 and Al2O3–TiN in aqueous solutions simulating living environments has been thus compared using a pin on disc wear-testing machine. The results show that the mechanisms of material removal during wear are different. For alumina, a mechanical wear mechanism is observed, reduced by the lubricating action of the wet media, and alumina–TiN is worn by a combination of tribochemical and abrasive effects.  相似文献

Properties of Al2O3-coated nano-SiC have been compared with those of as-received SiC.The isoelectric point(IEP) of SiC changed from pH3.4 to pH7.3 after coating with the alumina precursor,which is close to that of alumina.Because both surfaces of coated SiC and Al2O3 possess higher positive charge at pH=4.5-5.0 ,they are uniformly dispersed in the two-phase aqueous suspensions.Then a mixed powder containing nano-SiC dispersed homogeneously into the Al2O3 matrix was achieved from flocculating the two-phase suspension.Finally,Al2O3/SiC nanocomposited were obtained by coating nano-SiC with Al2O3 ,in which the majority of SiC particles were located within the Al2O3 grains.The observation by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and the analysis by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) showed that cracks propagated towards the intragranular SiC rather than along prain boundaries.  相似文献

A microstructural study has been carried out of plasma-sprayed Al2O3 and mixed and sintered Al2O3Y2O3. In order to ascertain the degree of metastability achieved by plasma spraying, these results are compared with a similar experiment utilizing a CO2 laser for melting and the hammer-and-anvil technique for quenching of the same materials. X-ray diffraction methods were used to determine the obtained phases and crystal structures. In addition, transmission electron microscopy was used to confirm the phases present and to study their morpology. The porosity was studied with both mercury intrusion porosimetry and small angle neutron scattering. The addition of Y2O3 is shown to decrease the porosity from 15% to 7.5%. Adhesion is likewise related to the addition of Y2O3 and it is seen that adhesion of the mixture is measurably improved over that of pure Al2O3. The implication of these results is discussed.  相似文献

利用氧对金属Ti、Al粉的部分氧化,原位合成了含有氧化铝晶须的Al2O3/Ti-Al复合材料,通过XRD和SEM等测试手段,发现Al2O3晶须呈网状交叉分布于基体内部的孔隙中.分析了晶须的生成机理,认为氧化铝晶须是通过VLS机理生成,复合材料的原始组成和温度对晶须的显微型貌有直接的影响:随原始组成中铝含量的增加,产物中晶须的数量总体上是在递增的,且发达程度逐渐提高;热处理温度对晶须直径有直接影响,温度升高可以增加晶须直径.  相似文献

用真空蒸镀及自然氧化方法在玻璃基底上制备纳米量级的4、5、6、7对层的Al/Al2O3多层膜。采用称重法测定薄膜的厚度;在常温和低温下使用三点法测定多层膜的电特性;用扫描电镜(sEM)观察薄膜的表面和截面的形貌及成分。结果表明:制备的是纳米量级非晶态的Al/Al2O3多层膜,在常温和低温(77K)下均具有类似负阻的特性。  相似文献

观察了在不同温度下退火的Al/Al2O3复合材料的微观组织,结果表明,当退火温度达570℃时包裹着Al核的非晶Al2O3壳开始破碎。研究了非晶Al2O3膜的破碎机理并在此基础上讨论了材料微观结构与力学性能和内耗的关系,发现氧化膜的状态对材料的力学性能和内耗特征具有决定性的影响。  相似文献

The effects of SiC, Al2O3, and ZrO2 particles on the characteristics of Al/SiC, Al/Al2O3, and Al/ZrO2 metal matrix composites (MMCs) have been studied in the present research work. The comparison of machining characteristics has been done to analyze the behavior of various reinforced particles with the variation of laser machining variables. The output characteristics such as dross height and kerf deviation have been investigated and compared with each MMCs. SEM and XRD have been used for the investigation of morphological changes in the structure and agglomeration of reinforced particles. The crack and recast layer formation has been examined in the specimens of higher quantity of reinforced particles. It was observed that the MMC material reinforced with SiC particles has shown different behavior as compared to other MMC materials.  相似文献
