This paper demonstrates both theoretically, through theorem proofs, and experimentally, that existing minimization algorithms for ESOP (Exclusive or Sum Of Products) expressions can be successfully used for minimizing ESCT (Exclusive or Sum of Complex Terms) expressions as well. ESCT expressions are more general than ESOP ones and being reversible are very useful for logic design and for quantum circuits. The field of ESOP minimization has received considerable attention along the years and a great number of research works can be found in the literature, in contrast to the ESCT minimization problem with much fewer works addressing it. The open problems of finding exact ESCT expressions for completely specified functions of more than six variables as well as the problem of finding exact ESCT expressions for incompletely specified functions are solved here based on ESOP principles, for the first time.  相似文献

In this paper,the application of extraction principle for logic function minimiza-tion to multi-output case is studied.A defect in original algorithm in dealing with multi-outputextrema is made up,and on this base,three kinds of less-than terms in different conditions aredefined.In addition,three kinds of generalized definition of less-than terms are given,so as to findout more efficiently the covers with minimal number of terms and irredundant function outputs.This work makes the multi-output extraction principle closer to perfection.An algorithm basedon the work is presented.  相似文献

The solutions of many physical-mathematical problems can be obtained by minimizing proper functionals. In the literature, some methods for the synthesis of analog circuits (mainly cellular neural networks) are presented that find the solution of some of these problems by implementing the discretized Euler-Lagrange equations associated with the pertinent functionals.In this paper, we propose a method for defining analog circuits that directly minimize (in a parallel way) a class of discretized functionals in the frequently occurring case where the solution depends on two spatial variables. The method is a generalization of the one presented in Parodi et al.,Internat. J. Circuit Theory Appl., 26, 477–498, 1998. The analog circuits consist of both a (nonlinear) resistive part and a set of linear capacitors, whose steady-state voltages represent the discrete solution to the problem. The method is based on the potential (co-content) functions associated with voltage-controlled resistive elements. es an example, we describe an application in the field of image processing: the restoration of color images corrupted by additive noise.This work was supported by the M.U.R.S.T. research project, Neural and non-linear circuits for one- and multi-dimensional signal processing applications, and by the University of Genoa.  相似文献
