The influence of sodium sulfate, as an activator, on the hydration of calcium aluminate cement (CAC)–fly ash (FA)–silica fume (SF) composites was investigated. Different mixes of CAC with 20% pozzolans (20% FA, 20% SF and 10% FA + 10% SF) were prepared and hydrated at 38 °C for up to 28 days. The hydration products were investigated by XRD, DSC and SEM. The results showed that sodium sulfate accelerated the hydration reactions of calcium aluminate cement as well as the reactions of FA and SF with CAH10 and C2AH8 to form the strätlingite (C2ASH8). The later reactions prevent the strength loss by preventing the conversion of CAH10 and C2AH8 to the cubic C3AH6 phase. The acceleration effect of Na2SO4 on the reactivity of fly ash was more pronounced than on the reactivity of silica fume with respect to reaction with CAH10 and C2AH8 phases.  相似文献

The carbonation processes of ettringite and calcium aluminate hydrates phases developed by hydration of calcium aluminate cement, fly ash and calcium sulphate ternary mixtures have been studied. The hydrated samples were submitted to 4% of CO2 in a carbonation chamber, and were analysed, previous carbonation and after 14 and 90 days of carbonation time, by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction; the developed morphology was performed with the 14 days carbonated samples. The results evidenced that ettringite reacts with CO2 after 14 days of exposition time and evolves totally at 90 days; the developed hydrated phases C3AH6 in samples with major CAC content, also reacts with CO2. Due to carbonation, calcium carbonate – mainly vaterite but also aragonite-, depending on the initial formulation, aluminium hydroxide and gypsum were detected.  相似文献

This paper presents the effect of air curing, water curing and steam curing on the compressive strength of Self Compacting Concrete (SCC). For experimental study, SCC is produced with using silica fume (SF) instead of cement by weight, by the ratios of 5%, 10% and 15%, and fly ash (FA) with the ratios of 25%, 40% and 55%. It is observed that mineral admixtures have positive effects on the self settlement properties. The highest compressive strength was observed in the concrete specimens with using 15% SF and for 28 days water curing. Air curing caused compressive strength losses in all groups. Relative strengths of concretes with mineral admixtures were determined higher than concretes without admixtures at steam curing conditions.  相似文献

The effects of 12CaO7 · Al2O3 crystallinity on the kinetics of hydration reaction were studied by measuring the heat liberated using a conduction calorimeter. The crystallinity of the sample was modified by changing the cooling rate of the sample after synthesis reaction. In addition, the effects of silica addition to 12CaO7 · Al2O3 glass on kinetics were also investigated. The results indicated that the glass underwent a faster initial kinetic hydration reaction compared with that of crystalline calcium aluminate. The addition of silica, on the other hand, decreased the reaction rates. The results are discussed in terms of the solvation rate of the calcium aluminate phases and the precipitation of the hydrate phases.  相似文献

Folic acid (FA) is a water soluble vitamin that exists in many natural species. The lack of FA causes some deficiencies in human body, so finding a simple and sensitive method for determining the FA is important. A new chemically modified electrode was fabricated for determination of FA in human blood plasma using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and carbon paste electrode (CPE). Gold nanoparticles–modified carbon paste electrode (AuNPs/CPE) was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The experimental parameters such as pH, scan rate (ν) and amount of modifier were studied by cyclic voltammetry and the optimized values were chosen. The electrochemical parameters such as diffusion coefficient of FA (DFA), electrode surface area (A) and electron transfer coefficient (α) were calculated. Square wave voltammetry as an accurate technique was used for quantitative calculations. A good linear relation was observed between anodic peak current (ipa) and FA concentration (CFA) in the range of 6 × 10? 8 to 8 × 10? 5 mol L? 1, and the detection limit (LOD) achieved 2.7 × 10? 8 mol L? 1, that is comparable with recently studies. This paper demonstrated a novel, simple, selective and rapid sensor for determining the FA in the biological samples.  相似文献

Processes that maximize utilization of industrial solid wastes are greatly needed. Sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate solution were used to create alkali-activated complex binders (AACBs) from class C fly ash (CFA) and other Ca-containing admixtures including Portland cement (PC), flue gas desulfurization gypsum (FGDG), and water treatment residual (WTR). Specimens made only from CFA (CFA100), or the same fly ash mixed with 40 wt% PC (CFA60–PC40), with 10 wt% FGDG (CFA90–FGDG10), or with 10 wt% WTR (CFA90–WTR10) had better mechanical performance compared to binders using other mix ratios. The maximum compressive strength of specimens reached 80.0 MPa. Geopolymeric gel, sodium polysilicate zeolite, and hydrated products coexist when AACB reactions occur. Ca from CFA, PC, and WTR precipitated as Ca(OH)2, bonded in geopolymers to obtain charge balance, or reacted with dissolved silicate and aluminate species to form calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) gel. However, Ca from FGDG probably reacted with dissolved silicate and aluminate species to form ettringite. Utilization of CFA and Ca-containing admixtures in AACB is feasible. These binders may be widely utilized in various applications such as in building materials and for solidification/stabilization of other wastes, thus making the wastes more environmentally benign.  相似文献

Drinking water treatment plants regularly dispose of large volumes of industrial sludge in landfill sites, which often has negative environmental consequences. The calcination products of these kaolinite-based sludges have properties that could make them appropriate supplementary cementing materials in the production of blended binary cements. This research analyses the pozzolanic and thermodynamic properties of a Venezuelan drinking water sludge activated at 600 °C for 2 h and its behavior in blended cement matrices prepared with 15% Activated Waste (AW) and 85% Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). Our results show that this activated drinking water sludge presents high pozzolanic properties, mainly during the first 24 h of reaction. The XRD, SEM/EDX and thermodynamic studies confirm the formation of C2ASH8, C–S–H gels and C4AH13 as the hydration products from the pozzolanic reaction. The binary mixture of 15% AW/85% OPC complied with the physical and mechanical specifications contained in current European cement standards.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) additions on the alkali activation of red clay brick waste (RCBW) was studied at room temperature and at 65 °C. RCBW was partially replaced with CAC (0–50 wt.%) and blends were activated with NaOH and sodium silicate solutions. The compressive strength evolution was tested on mortars and the nature of the reaction products was analysed by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, microscopic studies and pH measurements. The results show that the use of CAC accelerates the activation process of RCBW so that 50 MPa were obtained in the blended mortars containing 40 wt.% CAC cured for 3 days at room temperature. CAC did not undergo normal hydration and only the C3AH6 phase was identified in the pastes blended with more than 30 wt.% CAC and cured at 65 °C, while the main reaction product was a cementitious gel containing Ca and Al from CAC.  相似文献

This study investigated the flowability, compressive strength, heat of hydration, porosity and calcium hydroxide content of ultra-high-strength concrete (UHSC) with cement–silica fume–slag binder at 20 °C. The composition of the binder was designed using seven-batch factorial design method. The relationships between the binder composition and the properties were expressed in contours. Results showed that proper silica fume content could improve the flowability and compressive strength of UHSC, reduce the porosity and calcium hydroxide content of UHSC. Slag reduced the flowability, compressive strength, porosity, and calcium hydroxide content of UHSC to certain extent. The silica fume and slag demonstrated positive synergistic effects on the flowability and 3 d compressive strength, but have negative synergistic effects on the total heat of hydration, hydration heat when the time is infinitely long(P0), 56 d compressive strength, porosity and calcium hydroxide content of UHSC.  相似文献

The effect of substitution of sand with granulated slag on some properties of sand-lime aerated concrete was investigated. The compressive strength, the hydration kinetics and the nature of the hydration products were studied for samples autoclaved under 8 atm for different periods from 0.5 to 24 h. The results indicate that the substitution of slag leads to a marked increase of the compressive strength compared with that of the unsubstituted samples. The extent of hydration, as measured by the chemically combined water, free lime and free silica contents, is enhanced due to the slag substitution. The X-ray diffraction results show that the hydration products are mainly tobermorite-like phases, C4AH13,C3AH6 and CAH10 in the slag-containing samples. Cement notations are used in the text, e.g. C=CaO, S=SiO2, A=Al2O3 and H=H2O.  相似文献

Fluidized bed combustion (FBC) is an environmentally friendly process for burning of coal and is used in many small factories located in urban area. The FBC fly ash is an environmental problem and needs good disposal or utilization. This research studied the strength and resistance to sulfate and acid of alkali-activated FBC fly ash–silica fume composite. The FBC fly ash was interground with silica fume (at the dosage levels of 1.5%, 3.75% and 5.0%) to make the source material homogenous with increased reactivity. Addition of silica fume enabled the adjustment of SiO2/Al2O3 ratios (6.55-7.54) of composite and improved the strength and resistance to sulfate and acid of composite. The composite with 3.75% silica fume showed the optimum strength with 28-day compressive strength of 17.0 MPa. The compressive strengths of composite with 3.75% silica fume immersed in 5% magnesium sulfate solution and 3% sulfuric acid solutions were substantially higher than the control. The strength loss was from the high calcium content of FBC fly ash and incorporation of silica fume thus increased the durability of the composite.  相似文献

This study investigated the use of 10 (M1), 17 (M2) and 27 wt.% (M3) electric arc furnace steel slag (EAFS) as a raw material in the production of calcium ferroaluminate belite cement clinker, after firing at 1320 °C. The thermal behavior of the raw meals was studied by TG/DSC and XRD whereas for the analysis of the clinkers, XRD/QXRD, SEM/EDS and EPMA were employed. The resulting clinker was co-grinded with 5 and 20 wt.% Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) gypsum and the properties were determined by a series of tests in accordance to EN standards. The evolution of hydration was investigated by SEM and the development of compressive strength. The results revealed that the formed phases in the clinkers were C2S, C4AF and C4A3Ŝ. The main hydration products were ettringite, AFm and hydrogarnet. The leached CrVI was below 1 ppm in M3. Compressive strength in cements with 5 wt.% FGD gypsum was (in MPa): 18.3 for M1, 14.3 for M2 and 7.8 for M3 at 28 days, whereas for 20 wt.% FGD gypsum, the values were almost doubled.  相似文献

Zeolite, a type of natural pozzolanic material, has been used in producing blended cement and concrete in China. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of zeolite in enhancing the performance of concrete in comparison with silica fume and pulverized fuel ash (PFA). In the first series of experiments, zeolite, silica fume, and PFA were all used to replace 5%, 10%, 15% and 30% of cement by weight in concrete with water to total cementitious material ratio (W/(C + P)) kept at 0.28. The results showed that zeolite decreased bleeding and increased marginally the viscosity of concrete without significantly compromising the slump. And at 15% replacement level, it resulted in 14% increase in concrete strength at 28-day compared with the control concrete. The test results also showed that there existed an optimum replacement level for zeolite to effect a decrease in initial surface absorption and in chloride diffusion of concrete. The test results of the second series of experiments where zeolite, silica fume and PFA were in turn used to replace 10% of cement in concretes with W/(C + P) in the range of 0.27 to 0.45 appeared that zeolite performed better than PFA but was inferior to silica fume in terms of increasing strength, decreasing initial surface absorption and chloride diffusion. It was further found that when W/(C + P) was greater than 0.45, the strength of the concretes incorporating zeolite or PFA (by direct replacement) was lower than that of the control concrete. The micro-structural study on concrete with zeolite revealed that the soluble SiO2 and Al2O3 could react with Ca(OH)2 to produce C–S–H which densified the concrete matrix. Pozzolanic effect of zeolite improved the microstructure of hardened cement paste and reduced the content of the harmful large pores, hence made concrete more impervious.  相似文献

Using the coal fly ash (FA), pure-form Na-A and -X zeolites were synthesized by two-step process. The FA was pretreated in aqueous NaOH solution under stirring condition at 85 °C for 18 h. The amorphous aluminosilicate of FA was dissolved during pretreatment. Increasing the stirring speed accelerated the dissolution of FA and increased Si4+ and Al3+ concentrations in the solution. This fact indicated that the stirring during pretreatment significantly affected on the dissolution of FA. After pretreatment, remaining FA was removed and aqueous NaAlO2 solution was added to the residual solution to control the molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3 of 0.5–4.5. After aging the resultant at 85 °C for 24 h, white precipitates were generated over the whole SiO2/Al2O3 range. Increment of Si4+ concentration by stirring during pretreatment increases the yield of the product. At SiO2/Al2O3 = 0.5, the material was identified as Na-A zeolite with a trace amount of hydroxysodalite. A single phase Na-A zeolite was obtained at SiO2/Al2O3 = 1.0. The Na-X zeolite was emerged at SiO2/Al2O3 ? 2.0. At SiO2/Al2O3 = 4.5, a single phase Na-X zeolite was formed. The cation exchange capacity of synthetic single phase Na-A and -X zeolites was respectively 4.78 and 3.88 meq./g.  相似文献

The aim of this study is the synthesis at low temperature (1000 °C) of reactive belite cement, rich in reactive C2S phases (α′L and/or β-C2S), starting from aluminosilicate wastes (oil well drilling mud and hydraulic dam sludge) and hydraulic lime dust recovered from bagging workshops. A hydrothermal treatment of the raw cement mixture was performed in an alkaline solution of KOH (0.6 M), with heating at 100 °C for 4 h under atmospheric pressure and continuous agitation. The burning of the hydrothermal mixture at 1000 °C produced reactive belite cements containing between 79% and 86% of C2S (α′L and/or β polymorphs), the rest being C12A7 (5–8%), C4AF (7–11%) and free lime (2%). The cements were characterized by X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), microprobe, and laser granulometry. The hardening evolution of belite cement pastes and mortars was followed by thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), setting time and compressive strength. The results showed a rapid production of hydrates (C–S–H/C–A–S–H, calcium aluminate hydrates and portlandite), with a fast setting time (reaction of C12A7) and compressive strength evolution that led to these cements being classified in the 32.5 category according to EN 197-1.  相似文献

The influence of high-calcium fly ash and silica fume as a binary and ternary blended cement on compressive strength and chloride resistance of self-compacting concrete (SCC) were investigated in this study. High-calcium fly ash (40–70%) and silica fume (0–10%) were used to replace part of cement at 50, 60 and 70 wt.%. Compressive strength, density, volume of permeable pore space (voids) and water absorption of SCC were investigated. The total charge passed in coulombs was assessed in order to determine chloride resistance of SCC. The results show that binary blended cement with high level fly ash generally reduced the compressive strength of SCC at all test ages (3, 7, 28 and 90 days). However, ternary blended cement with fly ash and silica fume gained higher compressive strength after 7 days when compared to binary blended fly ash cement at the same replacement level. The compressive strength more than 60 MPa (high strength concrete) can be obtained when using high-calcium fly ash and silica fume as ternary blended cement. Fly ash decreased the charge passed of SCC and tends to decrease with increasing fly ash content, although the volume of permeable pore space (voids) and water absorption of SCC were increased. In addition when compared to binary blended cement at the same replacement level, the charge passed of SCC that containing ternary blended cement was lower than binary blended cement with fly ash only. This indicated that fly ash and silica fume can improve chloride resistance of SCC at high volume content of Portland cement replacement.  相似文献

This work deals with the preparation and characterization of fly ash (FA) supported aqueous three-phase foams containing N2 for coal spontaneous combustion prevention and control. Uniform and dense three-phase foams featuring FA contents between 20 wt.% and 33 wt.% are prepared in batch mode using a home-made foam generating column with an internal Venturi tube. The effect of FA on the foamability, static and dynamic stability of the three-phase foams is discussed. Compared with two phase foams, the FA supported three-phase foams manifest higher static and dynamic stability, which increases with the FA content. Base on the excellent static and dynamic stability, a structure model to attach FA particles at the N2–water interfaces of the three-phase foams was proposed to elucidate the observed behaviors. The as prepared FA supported three-phase foams, exhibiting excellent coal fire extinguishing characteristic, can be used as a promising fire extinguishing material, especially for preventing the large coal area spontaneous combustion or extinguishing fire in high and unknown locations in goaf.  相似文献

Silk fibroin (SF) was regenerated using three of the most common protocols described in the bibliography for the dissolution of raw SF (LiBr 9.3 M, CaCl2 50 wt.% or CaCl2:EtOH:H2O 1:2:8 in molar ratio). The integrity of regenerated SF in aqueous solution was analyzed by SDS-PAGE and different profiles of degradation were observed depending on the protocol used. This fact was found to affect also the aqueous solubility of the freeze dried protein. These different SFs were used to produce electrospun mats using SF solutions of SF 17 wt.% in 1,1,1,1′,1′,1′-hexafluoro-2-propanol (HFIP) and significant differences in fiber sizes, elongation and ultimate strength values were found. This work provides a global overview of the manner that different methods of SF extraction can affect the properties of electrospun SF-mats and consequently it should be considered depending on the use they are going to be made for.  相似文献

This paper investigates properties of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) mortar modified with the styrene–butadiene-rubber (SBR) latex. This material may be advantageously applied as a rapid repair mortar. Mortar specimens were prepared with constant water-to-cement mass ratio; polymer solid content of latex was varied from 0% to 9%, and Li2CO3 was investigated as an accelerator. Specimens were treated at different curing conditions: 1, 7 days and transformation of metastable hydration products at 70 °C. The heat of hydration evolution of mortar specimens was measured by means of a self adopted isoperibol calorimeter. The measurement results indicate that SBR latex improves workability of fresh state mortar and retards nucleation and growth of hydration products. Due to polymer coagulation process and co-matrix formation permeability, stiffness and compressive strength decrease while adhesion strength to old concrete substrate, and flexural strength increase with amount of added latex.  相似文献
