The Influence of the Reaction Products between SO2 and Carbohydrates on the Determination of SO2. It was found, that the decrease in chemically detectable SO2 in stored sugar solutions under mild conditions (room-temperature and 60°C) is partially influenced by the formation of several reaction products, which prevent SO2 being set free. Under these conditions fructose and sucrose do not react with SO2. Maltose forms reaction products more readily than glucose. Reaction products of glucose and SO2 particularly are acids. It was found, that these reaction products exist with and without sulfur. The amount of reaction products is very small. Methods for determination of SO2 were compared. It was found, that the amount of re-detectable SO2 decreases with increase in sugar concentration. A method is proposed for the rapid determination, at the same time being acceptable for quality control. It was shown, that a colorimetric method for determination of SO2 in starch products with small amounts of SO2 is more exact and needs time less than the Monier-Williams method. 相似文献

Present Status of the Law Relating to Feedingstuffs with Particular Reference to Starch and Starchproducts As far as the interests of wet-milling industries are concerned, this contribution briefly explains the main provisions of the Law relating to Feedingstuffs of February 2, 1975 and of the national Feedingstuff Regulation of June 16, 1975 as well as the EEC Council Directive on Straight Feedingstuffs of November 23, 1976 and the revised version of the Annex of August 10, 1979. In this connection, also the problems of approximation of the national Feedingstuff Regulation to the EEC Council Directive on Straight Feedingstuffs are discussed. It is already prescribed by law that the EEC Directive on Straight Feedingstuffs will become effective January 1, 1981. Regarding the provisions relating to wet-milling products and by-products, which are contained in the special part of the EEC Directive on Straight Feedingstuffs, the crude starch content of pregelatinized starches, the moisture content of potato and cassava starches, the crude protein content of gluten and the reducing sugar content of dextrose molasses are given as examples. 相似文献
