Micrometer‐sized superparamagnetic poly(styrene–glycidyl methacrylate)/Fe3O4 spheres were synthesized by two‐stage dispersion polymerization with modified hydrophobic Fe3O4 nanoparticles, styrene (St), and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). The morphology and properties of the magnetic Fe3O4–P (St‐GMA) microspheres were examined by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, thermogravimetric analysis, and attenuated total reflectance. The average size of the obtained magnetic microspheres was 1.50 μm in diameter with a narrow size distribution, and the saturation magnetization of the magnetic microspheres was 8.23 emu/g. The magnetic Fe3O4–P (St‐GMA) microspheres with immobilized iminodiacetic acid–Cu2+ groups were used to investigate the adsorption capacity and selectivity of the model proteins, bovine hemoglobin (BHb) and bovine serum albumin (BSA). We found that the adsorption capacity of BHb was as high as 190.66 mg/g of microspheres, which was 3.20 times greater than that of BSA, which was only 59.64 mg/g of microspheres as determined by high‐performance liquid chromatography. Here, nanocomposite particles with three domains including magnetite nanoparticles, poly(N‐octadecyl methacrylate) (PODMA) or poly(N‐octadecyl methacrylate‐co‐1‐vinylimidazole) (P(ODMA‐co‐VIMZ)), and gold nanoparticles were prepared. Fe3O4 nanoparticles with narrow particle size distribution were prepared through a synthetic route in an organic phase in order to achieve good control of the size and size distribution and prevent their aggregation during their preparation. These magnetite nanoparticles, ~ 5 nm in size, were then encapsulated and well‐dispersed in PODMA and P(ODMA‐co‐VIMZ) matrices via a miniemulsion polymerization process to obtain the corresponding nanocomposite particles. The results revealed that Fe3O4 nanoparticles were encapsulated and did not migrate towards the monomer/water interface during polymerization. The resulting latex was used as a precursor for the adsorption of Au3+ ions on the surface of the polymeric particles and subsequent reduction to produce Fe3O4/P(ODMA‐co‐VIMZ)/Au nanocomposite particles. The morphology of the particles from each step was fully characterized by TEM and AFM, and the results of DLS analysis showed their size and size distribution. Measurement of magnetic properties illustrated the superparamagnetic characteristic of the products and it was observed that the encapsulation process and deposition of gold had no effect on the magnetic properties of the resulting particles. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study aims to use the conductivity of a synthetic polymer as the sensing probe for ethanol. In order to enhance the sensitivity of the sensor, a composite of the polymer and nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles was formed as it improved the conductivity. This composite exhibited 100 times more conductivity than the neat polymer. The semiconductive nanocomposite of poly [N1,N4bis(thiophen‐2‐ylmethylene)benzene‐1,4‐diamine]‐nickel oxide (PBTMBDA‐NiO) was prepared by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization. The monomer was N1,N4bis(thiophen‐2‐ylmethylene)benzene‐1,4‐diamine (BTMBDA). The monomer (BTMBDA), polymer (PBTMBDA), and NiO nanoparticles used in this study were synthesized. The monomer was prepared by refluxing together 2‐thiophene carboxaldehyde, benzene‐1,4‐diamine, and few drops of glacial acetic acid in ethanol medium for 3 h. The polymer, PBTMBDA, was formed by the chemical oxidative polymerization of BTMBDA in chloroform by FeCl3. NiO nanoparticles were prepared by slow addition of aqueous ammonia to anhydrous nickel chloride at room temperature (28 ± 2 °C), and at a pH of 8 under constant stirring condition. The composite was formed by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of BTMBDA in chloroform by FeCl3 in the presence of the dispersed NiO nanoparticles. The molecular structure of BTMBDA and PBTMBDA were confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) (1H, 13C, and Dept‐90°), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and ultraviolet (UV)–visible spectroscopy. The PBTMBDA and PBTMBDA‐NiO nanocomposite were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy analysis. The results of characterization studies indicate the strong interaction between PBTMBDA and NiO in the nanocomposite. The broadness of 1H NMR peaks in PBTMBDA was due to the increased number of monomer units. The disappearance of the peak of α‐hydrogens on thiophene confirms the polymerization involving the fifth position of thiophene part of BTMBDA. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectra revealed that position of the characteristic peaks of the functional groups in the monomer shifted toward lower wave numbers in PBTMBDA and PBTMBDA‐NiO nanocomposite. This shifting confirms the presence of extended conjugation along the polymer backbone. Electronic spectra of these compounds showed three absorption bands corresponding to π→π*, n→π* and n→π* transitions of π electron of carbon, lone pair electrons of S, and lone pair electrons of N (imine) groups, respectively. From the Tafel plot, the exchange current density evaluated for the BTMBDA and PBTMBDA are 0.2815 × 10−8 and 1.1508 × 10−8 A cm−2, respectively. PBTMBDA is evaluated to be a better electrode material than the BTMBDA. The X‐ray diffraction plots showed that the characteristic peak of NiO in PBTMBDA‐NiO nanocomposite suggested successful incorporation of NiO in PBTMBDA‐NiO nanocomposite. The thermogravimetric analysis revealed the improved thermal stability of the composite. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy analysis confirmed the presence of the NiO in the composite. Incorporation of nickel oxide nanoparticles improved the electrical conductivity and stability of PBTMBDA. The conductivity of the polymer was found to be of the order of 10−5 S cm−1 while that of the composite was of the order of 10−3 S cm−1. The nanocomposite was found to be thermally more stable than PBTMBDA and exhibited better direct‐current electrical conductivity and isothermal stability than the PBTMBDA as revealed by the four‐probe study. The electrical conductivity as inferred from the four‐probe method was used as the parameter to study the isothermal stability of the composite. The PBTMBDA‐NiO nanocomposite based vapor sensor was constructed for the sensing of ethanol vapor in commercial ethanol and real samples (alcoholic drinks: Beer, Wine, Brandy, Vodka, Whisky, and Rum) It was observed that on exposure to ethanol vapor at ambient temperature, the electrical resistivity of the nanocomposite increased indicating suppression of charge carriers. The interaction of ethanol vapor with PBTMBDA in PBTMBDA‐NiO nanocomposite was confirmed by IR spectral technique. The change in the structure of the PBTMBDA on interaction with ethanol was highlighted by the changes in the infrared spectrum. The conductivity of the polymer was explained using the structure‐activity relationship of the monomer evaluated using Gaussian 09 software. This study also analyzed the total electron density with electrostatic potential of the monomer and its correlation with chemical reactivity in order to explain the ethanol vapor sensing‐property of the nanocomposite. A new catalyst separation and recycling protocol combining magnetic nanoparticles and host‐guest assembly was developed. The catalyst, (η6‐arene)[N‐(para‐toluenesulfonyl)‐1,2‐diphenylethylenediamine]ruthenium trifluoromethanesulfonate [Ru(OTf)(TsDPEN)(η6‐arene)] bearing a dialkylammonium salt tag, was easily separated from the reaction mixtures by magnet‐assisted decantation, on basis of the formation of a pseudorotaxane complex by using dibenzo[24]crown‐8‐modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The ruthenium catalyst has been successfully reused at least 5 times with the retention of enantioselectivity but at the expense of relatively low catalytic activities in the asymmetric hydrogenation of 2‐methylquinoline.  相似文献

Magnetic conducting nanoparticles with reactive functional groups are attractive materials for applications in electromagnetic interference shielding, magneto‐optical storage, biomedical sensing, gas and humidity sensors, flexible electronics etc. The objective of this work was to prepare carboxyl functionalized polypyrrole (PPy) nanocomposite particles having good magnetic properties. Electromagnetic PPy nanostructures, abbreviated as PPy/γ‐Fe2O3, were first prepared by a chemical one‐step method. In this reaction process FeCl3 is used as an oxidant for the polymerization of pyrrole and as a source of Fe3+ for the formation of γ‐Fe2O3. The formation of γ‐Fe2O3 is also aided by the initial presence of Fe2+, and p‐toluenesulfonic acid (p‐TSA) acted as a dopant. The effects of different stabilizers on the stability and morphology of PPy/γ‐Fe2O3 particles were evaluated. The presence of citric acid/sodium dodecyl sulfate during chemical oxidative polymerization produced a relatively stable PPy/γ‐Fe2O3 colloidal emulsion. PPy/γ‐Fe2O3/poly(methylmethacrylate‐methacrylic acid) (PPy/γ‐Fe2O3/P(MMA‐MAA)) nanocomposite polymer particles were then prepared by the seeded copolymerization of MMA and MAA in the presence of magnetic PPy/γ‐Fe2O3 nanocomposite seed particles. The structure and morphology of the prepared nanocomposites were confirmed by different instrumental techniques such as Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, UV?visible spectroscopy, electron micrographs, XRD and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The electrical and magnetic properties were also investigated. The carboxyl functional electromagnetic PPy nanocomposite polymer particles should be useful for the immobilization of drugs or biomolecules to design electrically stimulated drug delivery systems for modulating the activities of nerve, cardiac, skeletal muscle and bone cells. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A macromolecular hindered phenol antioxidant, polyhydroxylated polybutadiene containing thioether binding 2,2′‐thiobis(4‐methyl‐6‐tert‐butylphenol) (PHPBT‐b‐TPH), was synthesized via a two‐step nucleophilic addition reaction using isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) as linkage. First, the ? OH groups of PHPBT reacted with secondary ? NCO groups of IPDI to form the adduct PHPBT‐NCO, then the PHPBT‐b‐TPH was obtained by one phenolic ? OH of 2,2′‐thiobis(4‐methyl‐6‐tert‐butylphenol) (TPH) reacting with the PHPBT‐NCO. The PHPBT‐b‐TPH was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H‐NMR), 13C‐NMR, and thermogravimetric analysis, and its antioxidant activity in natural rubber was studied by an accelerated aging test. Influences of reaction conditions on the two nucleophilic reactions between ? OH group and ? NCO group were investigated. In addition, catalytic mechanism for the reaction between PHPBT‐NCO and TPH was discussed. The results showed that the adduct PHPBT‐NCO could be obtained by using dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) as catalyst, and the suitable temperature and DBTDL amount were 35°C and 3 wt %, respectively. However, triethylamine (TEA) was more efficient than DBTDL to catalyze the reaction between PHPBT‐NCO and TPH because of steric hindrance effect. In addition, it was found that the thermal stability and antioxidant activity of PHPBT‐b‐TPH were higher than those of the low molecular weight antioxidant TPH. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. A magnetic nanocomposite of citric‐acid‐functionalized graphene oxide was prepared by an easy method. First, citric acid (CA) was covalently attached to acyl‐chloride‐functionalized graphene oxide (GO). Then, Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were chemically deposited onto the resulting adsorbent. CA, as a good stabilizer for MNPs, was covalently attached to the GO; thus MNPs were adsorbed much more strongly to this framework and subsequent leaching decreased and less agglomeration occurred. The attachment of CA onto GO and the formation of the hybrid were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction spectrometry and transmission electron microscopy. The specific saturation magnetization of the magnetic CA‐grafted GO (GO‐CA‐Fe3O4) was 57.8 emu g?1 and the average size of the nanoparticles was found to be 25 nm by transmission electron microscopy. The magnetic nanocomposite was employed as an adsorbent of methylene blue from contaminated water. The adsorption tests demonstrated that it took only 30 min to attain equilibrium. The adsorption capacity in the concentration range studied was 112 mg g?1. The GO‐CA‐Fe3O4 nanocomposite was easily manipulated in an external magnetic field which eases the separation and leads to the removal of dyes. A high surface, magnetic Fe3O4@mesoporouspolyaniline core‐shell nanocomposite was synthesized from magnetic iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles and mesoporouspolyaniline (mPANI). The novel porous magnetic Fe3O4 was obtained by solvothermal method under sealed pressure reactor at high temperature to achieve high surface area. The mesoporouspolyaniline shell was synthesized by in situ surface polymerization onto porous magnetic Fe3O4 in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS), as a linker and structure‐directing agent, through ‘blackberry nanostructures’ assembly. The material composition, stoichiometric ratio and reaction conditions play vital roles in the synthesis of these nanostructures as confirmed by variety of characterization techniques. The role of the mesoporouspolyaniline shell is to stabilize the porous magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles, and provide direct access to the core Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The catalytic activity of magnetic Fe3O4@mesoporousPANI nanocomposite was evaluated in the cross‐coupling of aryl chlorides and phenols.  相似文献

CoFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles were prepared by in situ precipitation and oxidation of Co2+ and Fe2+ within a sulfonated polystyrene resin. The nanometric particles were characterized by X‐ray diffraction. A ferrofluid was prepared from the CoFe2O4 mineralized polymer resin and water. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)‐based nanocomposite materials were obtained by mixing different amounts of ferrofluid (compositions ranging within 0–51 wt % of mineralized resin) with an aqueous solution of the polymer. The PVA composite materials were characterized by TGA, DSC, and stress–strain testing. The thermal and mechanical properties of PVA change with filler content, exhibiting an initial increase in these properties due to polymer–filler interactions. After a maximum value, at about 15 wt % of mineralized resin, the mechanical properties decrease probably due to particle aggregation which causes phase separation. The results obtained show that the nanoparticles are dispersed in the amorphous regions of the polymer, the crystalline zones remaining unaltered up to compositions as high as 30 wt %. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The aim of this investigation was to design iron oxide containing nanocomposites which could display superparamagnetic behavior and thus find application in biomedical and allied fields. To achieve the proposed objectives methyl methacrylate was polymerized by a redox system comprising of metabisulphite and persulphate in the immediate presence of a crosslinker, N,N′‐methylene bis acrylamide and a preformed polymer, i.e., polyvinyl alcohol. Into the prepared polymer matrix nanosized magnetite (Fe3O4) particles were evenly dispersed by in situ precipitation of Fe2+/Fe3+ ions. The nanocomposite materials were characterized by techniques like FTIR, SEM, TEM, XRD, and DSC. The magnetic behavior of nanocomposites and bulk magnetite particles was studied under varying applied magnetic fields and their superparamagnetic property was examined. N‐heterocyclic acrylamide monomers were prepared and then transferred to the corresponding polymers to be used as an efficient chelating agent. Polymers reacted with metal nitrate salts (Cu2+, Pb2+, Mg2+, Cd2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Fe2+) at 150°C to give metal‐polymer complexes. The selectivity of the metal ions using prepared polymers from an aqueous mixture containing different metal ion sreflected that the polymer having thiazolyl moiety more selective than that containing imidazolyl or pyridinyl moieties. Ion selectivity of poly[N‐(benzo[d]thiazol‐2‐yl)acrylamide] showed higher selectivity to many ions e.g. Fe3+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Ni2+, and Cu2+. While, that of poly[N‐(pyridin‐4‐yl)acrylamide] is found to be high selective to Fe3+ and Cu2+ only. Multiferroic ceramics were prepared and characterized in (1?x)BiFeO3x(0.5CaTiO3–0.5SmFeO3) system by a standard solid‐state reaction process. The structure evolution was investigated by X‐ray diffraction and Raman spectrum analyses. The refinement results confirmed the different phase assemblages with varying amounts of polar rhombohedral R3c and nonpolar orthorhombic Pbnm as a function of the substitution content. In the compositions range of 0.2≤x≤0.5, polar R3c and nonpolar Pbnm coexisted, which was referred to polar‐to‐nonpolar morphotropic phase boundary (MPB). According to the dielectric and DSC analysis results, the ceramics with x≤0.2 changed to diffused ferroelectric, and the ferroelectric properties were enhanced significantly. Two dielectric relaxations were detected in the temperature range of 200‐300 K and 500‐700 K, respectively. The high‐temperature dielectric relaxation was attributed to the grain‐boundary effects. While the low temperature dielectric relaxation obtained in the samples with x=0.3‐0.5 was related to the charge transfer between Fe2+ and Fe3+. The magnetic hysteresis loops measured at different temperature indicated the enhanced magnetic properties in the present ceramics, which could be attributed to the suppressed cycloidal spin magnetic structure by Ti ions. In addition, the rare‐earth Sm spin moments might also affect the magnetic properties at relatively lower temperature.  相似文献

Metathesis polytricyclononenes were synthesized via ROMP polymerization in the presence of the 1‐st generation Grubbs catalyst and their gas‐transport properties were studied for the first time. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of Me3E‐groups (E = C, Si, Ge) on gas permeation parameters of ROMP materials. New metathesis poly(3‐tert‐butyltricyclononene‐7) and poly(3‐trimethylgermyltricyclononene‐7) were obtained with high yields (up to 95%) and high‐molecular weights (Mw~3–7×105 g mol?1). The glass transition temperatures of the ROMP polytricyclononenes with Me3E‐groups decreased when E was changed from C to Si and then to Ge. It was shown that the polytricyclononene containing Me3Si‐groups has the highest gas permeability while the polytricyclononene containing Me3C‐substituents has the lowest gas permeability. In addition, the gas permeation parameters were estimated for ROMP Me3Si‐ and Me3Ge‐substituted polytricyclonona‐3,7‐dienes. Novel polyimide‐γ‐Fe2O3 hybrid nanocomposite films (PI/γ‐Fe2O3) has been developed from the poly(amic acid) salt of oxydianiline with different weight percentages (5, 10, 15 wt %) of γ‐Fe2O3 using tetrahydrofuran (THF) and N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc) as aprotic solvents. The prepared polyimide‐γ‐Fe2O3 nanocomposite films were characterized for their structure, morphology, and thermal behavior employing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron micrograph (SEM), transmission electron micrograph (TEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), 13C‐NMR, and thermal analysis (TGA/DSC) techniques. These studies showed the homogenous dispersion of γ‐Fe2O3 in the polyimide matrix with an increase in the thermal stability of the composite films on γ‐Fe2O3 loadings. Magnetization measurements (magnetic hysteresis traces) have shown very high values of coercive force indicating their possible use in memory devices and in other related applications. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. CuxZn0.5‐xMg0.5Fe2O4 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) ferrite nanoparticles are synthesized via thermal treatment technique using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a capping agent. The effect of Cu2+ ions substitution on the magnetic and structural properties of ZnMg ferrite nanoparticles is assessed. X‐ray diffraction (XRD) results prove the formation of spinel cubic ferrite with nanocrystalline structure. It is observed by increasing Cu2+ ions content in Cu2+‐substituted ZnMg ferrite samples, the lattice constant decreases. The field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) micrographs indicate that all samples have sizes in nanometer scale with almost spherical morphology and ZnMg ferrite nanoparticles size is increased as the result of Cu2+ substitution. Magnetic data show that by increasing in Cu2+ content, the saturation magnetization (Ms) increases up to x = 0.3 and then declines with the addition of more Cu2+ ions in the samples. To assess the heat release of Cu2+‐substituted ZnMg ferrite nanoparticles, an alternating magnetic (AC) field is applied. The results show an upward trend for the samples in the temperature vs time chart, as a result of increasing in Ms of the samples. The Cu0.3Zn0.2Mg0.5Fe2O4 sample exhibits a temperature increase up to 43°C during 510 seconds in the exposure of 125 Oe magnetic field intensity. The cell compatibility of the samples is investigated using osteoblast‐like cells (MG63). Results show that the substitution of Cu2+ significantly affects the cell compatibility of the ZnMg ferrite nanoparticles.  相似文献

Cellulose nanocomposites containing high contents of Fe3O4 nanoparticles were successfully prepared with regenerated cellulose films as a matrix and mixture solutions of Fe2+/Fe3+ as precursors. The structure and properties of the magnetic nanocomposite films were investigated with X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and vibrating sample magnetometry. Fe3O4 nanoparticles as prepared were irregular spheres and were homogeneously dispersed in the cellulose matrix. With an increase in the concentration of precursors from 0.2 to 1.0 mol/L, the content of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the dried nanocomposites increased from 12 to 39 wt %, and the particle diameter increased from 32 to 64 nm. The cellulose nanocomposite films demonstrated superparamagnetic behavior, and their saturation magnetizations were in the range 4.2–21.2 emu/g, which were related to the increase in Fe3O4 nanoparticle content. With increasing nanophase content, the nanocomposite films displayed significantly anisotropic magnetic properties in the parallel and perpendicular directions. This study provided a green and facile method for the preparation of biobased nanocomposite films with high nanophase content and excellent magnetic properties. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An effective method was developed to isolate toxic heavy metal ions from the aqueous solution by the magnetic nanopolymers. The magnetic sorbent was prepared with radiation‐induced crosslinking polymerization of chitosan (CS), 2‐acrylamido‐glycolic acid (AMGA), and acrylic acid (AAc), which stabilized by magnetite (Fe3O4) as nanoparticles. The formation of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) into the hydrogel networks was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and Scanning electron microscopy, which revealed the formation of MNPs throughout the hydrogel networks. The swelling behavior of the hydrogels and magnetic ones was evaluated at different pH values. The adsorption activity for heavy metals such as Cu2+ and Co2+ by nonmagnetic and magnetic hydrogels, Fe3O4/CS/(AMGA‐co‐AAc), in terms of adsorption amount was studied. Poly(caprolactone; PCL)—poly(N‐isopropylacrylamie; PNIPAAm)—Fe3O4 fiber, that can be magnetically actuated, is reported. Here, a structure is engineered that can be utilized as a smart carrier for the release of chemotherapeutic drug via magneto‐thermal activation, with the aid of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). The magnetic measurement of the fibers revealed saturation magnetization values within the range of 1.2–2.2 emu g?1. The magnetic PCL‐PNIPAAm‐Fe3O4 scaffold shows a specific loss power value of 4.19 W g?1 at 20 wt% MNPs. A temperature increase of 40 °C led to a 600% swelling after only 3 h. Doxorubicin (DOX) as a model drug, demonstrates a controllable drug release profile. 39% ± 0.92 of the total drug loaded is released after 96 h at 37 °C, while 25% drug release in 3 h at 40 °C is detected. Cytotoxicity results show no significant difference in cell attachment efficiency between the MNP‐loaded fibers and control while the DOX‐loaded fibers effectively inhibited cell proliferation at 24 h matching the drug release profile. The noncytotoxic effect, coupled with the magneto‐thermal property and controlled drug release, renders excellent potential for these fibers to be used as a smart drug‐release agent for localized cancer therapy.  相似文献

In this study, a nanocomposite based on a biodegradable polymer poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) reinforced by triethylene glycol mono‐n‐decyl ether (C10E3) non‐ionic organoclay (C10E3‐Mt) was prepared. The morphology and the thermal and mechanical properties of PHBV/C10E3‐Mt were compared with those of PHBV nanocomposites prepared using commercial organically modified montmorillonite Cloisite® 30B (OMt) and raw montmorillonite (Mt). Nanocomposites with 3 wt% nanoparticles were obtained by melt processing. The high level of dispersion with improved interfacial interactions between OMt and polymer led to an increase in the thermal stability and modulus of PHBV. However, this nanocomposite presented a lower strain before fracture, typical of brittle behavior. The transmission electron microscopy and wide angle X‐ray diffraction results revealed a significant increase in the interlayer spacing of clay for the PHBV/C10E3‐Mt nanocomposite, which was favored by the wide expansion of the platelets of the starting non‐ionic organoclay. This characteristic of C10E3‐Mt, together with its hydrophobic behavior, allowed its easy incorporation in the PHBV matrix, thus improving the processing and maintaining a high modulus with increased material toughness. © 2014 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Homogeneous core‐shell systems were obtained with a growth, in controlled steps, of several oligoamides on TiO2 nanoparticles. Derivatives of natural compounds, such as l ‐tartaric acid and α,α′‐trehalose, were used as diesters in the polycondensation reactions with ethylenediamine. TiO2 anatase was chosen because of its high photo‐activity and its antimicrobial activity. The TiO2 nanoparticles had been previously activated then functionalized using two different coupling agents, and finally, the TiO2‐oligoamide nanocomposites were synthesized using two synthetic pathways. The final products were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT‐IR, and transmission electron microscope. These nanocomposites can show improved properties in comparison with the single components (TiO2 nanoparticles or oligoamides), which are useful in many fields, such as antimicrobial coatings for surfaces in cultural heritage conservation. A nanocomposite (TiO2‐polyethylenetartaramide) was used for applicative studies, and it has shown a good efficacy against fungal attack by Trametes versicolor on wood specimens (Fagus sylvatica). © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
