Available published data on the properties of optical recording media based on semiconductor structures are reviewed. The
principles of operation, structure, parameters, and the range of application for optical recording media based on MIS structures
formed of photorefractive crystals with a thick layer of insulator and MIS structures with a liquid crystal as the insulator
(the MIS LC modulators), as well as the effect of optical bistability in semiconductor structures (semiconductor MIS structures
with nanodimensionally thin insulator (TI) layer, M(TI)S nanostructures). Special attention is paid to recording media based
on the M(TI)S nanostructures promising for fast processing of highly informative images and to fabrication of optoelectronic

In this paper,we review the recent progress in the optical signal processing based on the nonlinearity of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs).The four important optical signal processing functional blocks in optical switching are presented,i.e.,optical wavelength conversion,optical regeneration,optical logic,and optical format conversion.We present a brief overview of optical wavelength conversion,and focus on various schemes to suppress the slow gain recovery of the SOA and improve the operating speed of the SOA-based optical switches.Optical regeneration including re-amplification,re-shaping and re-timing is also presented.Optical clock recovery that is essential for optical regeneration is reviewed.We also report the recent advances in optical logic and optical format conversion,respectively.After reviewing the four important optical signal processing functional blocks,the review concludes with the future research directions and photonic integration. 相似文献

In this paper,several applications in all-optical signal processing based on a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and variable delayed interferometers (DIs) have been experimentally demonstrated.Wavelength converter based on a nonlinear polarization switch (NPS) and a DI is proposed and presented for the wavelength conversion of nonretum-to-zero (NRZ) signals.An alloptical nonretum-to-zero to return-to-zero (NRZ-to-RZ)format converter with tunable duty cycles is achieved by the DI with variable delays.The 40 Gb/s reconfigurable optical OR/NOR gate in a single SOA,followed a tunable optical bandpass filter (OBF) and a DI,optical 2R regeneration using an SOA-DI are investigated.It is found that this combinative realization of filters has been endowed with great flexibility and quality for 40 Gb/s optical logic and 2R regeneration. 相似文献

A compact variable all-optical buffer using semiconductor quantum dot (QD) structures is proposed and analyzed. The buffering effect is achieved by slowing down the optical signal using an external control light source to vary the dispersion characteristic of the medium via an electromagnetically induced transparency effect. We present a theoretical investigation of the criteria for achieving slow light in semiconductor QDs. A QD structure in the presence of strain is analyzed with the inclusion of polarization-dependent intersubband dipole selection rules. Experimental methods to synthesize and the measurements of coherent properties in state-of-the-art QDs are surveyed. Slow-light effects in uniform and nonuniform QDs are compared. Finally, optical signal propagation through the semiconductor optical buffer is presented to demonstrate the feasibility for practical applications. 相似文献

无热化设计是红外光学系统设计的一项重要内容,为了检测无热化设计的效果,提出了一种基于图像处理的红外光学系统无热化设计效果检测方法。利用此方法对被测光学系统进行自动调焦,记录其在不同工作温度下的焦点位置并进行分析,得到被测光学系统在不同温度下的相对离焦量。研制了某型无热化设计效果检测系统,介绍了其系统组成、测量离焦量的工作原理、自动调焦算法和调焦区域的选择,给出了实验结果。还提出了一种基于图像灰度梯度的复合聚焦策略并进行验证。实验结果表明,其调焦速度快,重复性好,精度较高,抗噪声干扰能力强。 相似文献

We demonstrate novel optical signal processing functions based on self-induced nonlinear polarization rotation in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). Numerical and experimental results are presented, which demonstrate that a nonlinear polarization switch can be employed to achieve all-optical logic. We demonstrate an all-optical header processing system, an all-optical seed pulse generator for packet synchronization, and an all-optical arbiter that can be employed for optical buffering at a bit rate of 10 Gb/s. Experimental results indicate that optical signal processing functions based on self-polarization rotation have a higher extinction ratio and a lower power operation compared with similar functions based on self-phase modulation. 相似文献

Stable multiwavelength lasing is demonstrated with a novel laser, in which a semiconductor optical amplifier offers optical gain and cascaded sampled fiber gratings serve as a comb filter. The operations of a complete set of optical AND, NAND, OR, and NOR gates and clocked opticalS-R, D, J-K, andT flip-flops are demonstrated, based on direct polarization switching and polarization bistability, which we have recently observed in InGaAsP/InP semiconductor lasers. By operating the laser in the direct-polarization-switchable mode, the output of the laser can be directly switched between the TM00 and TE00 modes with high extinction ratios by changing the injection-current level, and optical logic gates are constructed with two optoelectronic switches or photodetectors. In the polarization-bistable mode, the laser exhibits controllable hysteresis loops in the polarization-resolved power versus current characteristics. When the laser is biased in the middle of hysteresis loop, the light output can be switched between the two polarization states by injection of short electrical or optical pulses, and clocked optical flip-flops are constructed with a few optoelectronic switches and/or photodetectors. The 1 and 0 states of these devices are defined through polarization changes of the laser and direct complement functions are obtainable from the TE and TM output signals from the same laser. Switching of the polarization-bistable lasers with fast-rising current pulses has an instrument-limited mode-switching time on the order of 1 ns. With fast optoelectronic switches and/or fast photodetectors, the overall switching speed of the logic gates and flip-flops is limited by the polarization-bistable laser to < 1 ns. We have demonstrated the operations of these devices using optical signals generated by semiconductor lasers. The proposed schemes of our devices are compatible with monolithic integration based on current fabrication technology and are applicable to other types of bistable semiconductor lasers. 相似文献

A method for determining the conductance matrix is analyzed to study the properties of silicon nanostructures fabricated within Hall geometry on an n-type Si(100) surface as ultra-narrow p-type silicon quantum wells bounded by δ barriers heavily doped with boron. Within the proposed approach, the total current flowing through the multiterminal silicon nanostructure is written in the matrix form as I = G · V, where I and V are the columns of currents and voltages for each of the N terminals, G is the N × N conductance matrix uniquely describing the conductance of the structure under study, taking into account the contribution of contact-area resistances. The high sensitivity of matrix elements to changes in the state of the silicon nanostructure surface under conditions of the precipitation of sodium-acetate solution containing single-strand synthetic oligonucleotides is demonstrated. The prospects of practical application of the results obtained in developing modern biosensors based on determining the conductance matrix of multiterminal semiconductor nanostructures are discussed. 相似文献

Low cost optical OFDM has great potential for next generation optical access networks and PONs, due to its high flexibility in bandwidth manipulation, and high spectral efficiency. Here, a low cost optical OFDM is proposed, based on adaptive direct modulation semiconductor optical amplifier. Adaptive current loading techniques for PAPR (peak to average power ratio) reduction are proposed and analyzed. 针对红外焦平面阵列(IRFPA)实时图像处理系统中的重要环节——IRFPA的非均匀性校正和红外图像的增强,提出了以FPGA为核心的红外焦平面成像实时处理系统。该系统能够实时完成校正系数的计算、IRFPA非均匀性校正、红外图像的增强及视频合成等功能。在FPGA中采用了并行处理结构和流水线技术,使系统的处理速度高达50M×12 bit/s,特别适用于大面阵、高帧频IRFPA实时图像处理。仅用一片FPGA完成所有的处理功能,使整个系统结构简单、体积小、功耗小,便于小型化。 相似文献
