The recent wave of creating an interconnected world through satellites has renewed interest in satellite communications. Private and government-funded space agencies are making advancements in the creation of satellite constellations, and the introduction of 5G has brought a new focus to a fully connected world. Satellites are the proposed solutions for establishing high throughput and low latency links to remote, hard-to-reach areas. This has caused the injection of many satellites in Earth's orbit, which has caused many discrepancies. There is a need to establish highly adaptive and flexible satellite systems to overcome this. Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) have gained much popularity when it comes to communication systems. This review extensively provides insight into ML and DL's utilization in satellite communications. This review covers how satellite communication subsystems and other satellite system applications can be implemented through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the ongoing open challenges and future directions.  相似文献

The paper "Synchronous Communications," originally published in this journal in December 1956 by John P. Costas, has had a profound effect on modem digital communications. At the time of its publication, virtually all communications were analog in nature and, in fact, the stated goal of the paper was to demonstrate an amplitude-modulated (AM) system that could provide significantly improved performance for analog signaling and to dispel the notion that single sideband (SSB) had inherent performance advantages over properly constructed AM signaling systems. This paper is particularly significant because it was the first to demonstrate that carrier phase could be reliably recovered from the received signal using a structure that has come to be known as the Costas Loop.  相似文献

In the 11 years since the first practicable operational tropo systems were developed, there has been a tremendous growth in their number and complexity. This article describes the principles and applications of tropospheric scatter communications and discusses current development trends. Included is a table listing practically all of the tropo systems installed around the world, with pertinent technical data, together with maps showing the geographic location of most systems. Although accurate models for Earth-space microwave propagation, based on extensive measured data, exist for temperate regions of the world, this is not the case for the tropics. With the proliferation of satellite communications in these areas, it has become important to test the validity of currently recommended techniques for calculating circuit availability and co-channel interference levels due to attenuation by precipitation and scattering from precipitation, respectively. Multiparameter radar measurements, employing both polarimetric and Doppler techniques and made over a significant period of time on a statistically-valid basis, provide an ideal tool for these investigations. The paper describes the design considerations for, and construction of such a radar.
