设计了两种基于光纤布拉格光栅的波分复用(WDM)系统,一种为基于光纤光栅的四路波分复用系统,另一种为结合光分插复用器(OADM)的四路波分复用系统。给出了基于Opti System的波分复用光传输系统仿真模型,对复用及解复用后的光信号进行仿真得出了光谱图,对传输性能及Q因子、误码率、眼图等参数进行分析。在第二种结构中光纤光栅作为色散补偿器、光反射器和滤波器使用,可以实现任一波长的上载和下路。两种波分复用系统眼图张开良好,误码率均低于10e-9。证明了波分复用系统的正确性和设计方案的可行性。  相似文献

The properties of wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) narrowband filters used in tilted collimated light are described. The wavelength shift for s polarization in a low-index-spacer filter is larger than that for p polarization when the filter is tilted, but it is smaller in a high-index-spacer filter. Therefore the passbands of the tilted filter can be centered at the same wavelength for two polarization modes by use of high- and low-index materials, as appropriate, as spacers or by selection of a moderate-index material instead of a spacer. With such spacers, WDM filters used for incident angles of 20 degrees or even greater are constructed. Experimental results agree with the computed ones.  相似文献

Mode-locked ring laser with output pulse width of 0.4 ps   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
The output pulse width of a mode-locked ring laser composed of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier, Mach-Zehnder optical modulator, and optical band-pass filter depends largely on the repetition frequency and the wavelength characteristics of these optical circuit elements. In previous experiments, the output pulse width was in the order of 5 ps at a repetition frequency of 5 GHz. The principal reason was that the narrow passage band of the optical circuit elements made it extremely difficult to generate an ultra-short optical pulse. Consequently, we examined how to narrow the optical pulse width by flattening the wavelength characteristics of these optical circuit elements. Furthermore, we drove the optical modulator in the cavity using a frequency multiplier to operate at an effectively higher frequency By widening the wavelength passage band of all the devices in the optical circuit, we achieved an output pulse width of 0.4 ps at a repetition frequency of 5 GHz; the pulse peak power was more than +23 dBm, and the time-bandwidth product was 0.34. We successfully tested an ultra-short optical pulse source with an output pulse width of 0.4 ps with no external pulse compression using a mode-locked ring laser  相似文献

We present what is to our knowledge the first comprehensive investigation of the use of blazed fiber Bragg gratings (BFBGs) to interrogate wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) in-fiber optical sensor arrays. We show that the light outcoupled from the core of these BFBGs is radiated with sufficient optical power that it may be detected with a low-cost charge-coupled device (CCD) array. We present thorough system performance analysis that shows sufficient spectral-spatial resolution to decode sensors with a WDM separation of 75 rhom, signal-to-noise ratio greater than 45-dB bandwidth of 70 nm, and drift of only 0.1 rhom. We show the system to be polarization-state insensitive, making the BFBG-CCD spectral analysis technique a practical, extremely low-cost, alternative to traditional tunable filter approaches.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a highly flexible fiber laser capable of generating stable multiwavelength picosecond and single wavelength femtosecond pulses by using a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror and a contrast ratio tunable comb filter. In the multiwavelength lasing regime, up to 11-wavelength stable mode-locked pulses in 3 dB bandwidth with a channel spacing of 0.8 nm were obtained. While in the single wavelength with broadband spectrum lasing regime, the fiber laser emitted 576 fs soliton pulse. Through changing the contrast ratio of the comb filter, the conversion between the multiwavelength picosecond and single wavelength femtosecond pulsed operations could be efficiently achieved.  相似文献

We demonstrate flat-gain wide bandwidth Raman-Fiber optical parametric hybrid amplifier for wavelength division multiplexed systems (WDM). Raman-parametric amplifiers exploit system non-linearities which are otherwise inevitable in evolving WDM systems. Investigations show that the pumps of parametric amplifier and Raman amplifier can be carefully selected at wavelengths, to give gain over complementary bandwidth regions, resulting in wide bandwidth with low gain ripple. Results show a flat gain of 24.3 dB for 12 × 100 Gbps WDM system with lowest ripple of less than 2.78 dB reported over 220 nm bandwidth for Raman-FOPA hybrid.  相似文献

We have numerically investigated the transmission properties of spoof surface plasmon polaritons on the ultrathin corrugated metal–insulator–metal (MIM) waveguides with different grooves. A band-pass plasmonic filter with T-shaped grooves and a compact 4-way wavelength division demultiplexing (WDM) incorporating the filter have been proposed. The whole 4-way WDM is more compact by the use of corrugated MIM waveguides with meander grooves. The near electric field distributions show that electromagnetic waves at different frequencies are guided and propagate along different branches with good isolation between branches. The experimental and numerical results have shown good agreements and validated the functions of the 4-way wavelength splitter. We also numerically investigate the 4-way WDM at terahertz frequencies by scaling down the whole structure. It is believed that the spoof plasmonic devices can find more applications in the plasmonic integration platform, such as optical communications, signal processing and spectral engineering.  相似文献

A simple system that simultaneously supports active mode-locking and self-seeding schemes for wavelength-tunable optical short-pulse generation is proposed. The system consists of a gain-switched Fabry-Perot laser diode, an erbium-doped fiber amplifier, a tunable optical filter, and two circulators. The mode-locked optical pulses exhibit good stability, a high side-mode suppression ratio of more than 31 dB over a wide wavelength tuning range of 42 nm, and a pulse width of around 35 ps at a repetition frequency of approximately 2.8 GHz.  相似文献

We demonstrate the use of a single prism for adjustable dispersion compensation in a mode-locked laser cavity, instead of the standard approach with a prism pair. A simple model based on the prism-pair configuration is presented to determine the group-velocity dispersion by use of ray optics to trace the wavelength-dependent optical axes through the cavity. We experimentally demonstrated this concept with a passively mode-locked diode-pumped Nd:glass laser producing 200-fs pulses with a 200-mW average output power, using only one intracavity prism. The advantages of such a cavity design are simple alignment, reduced loss, and lossless wavelength tunability This technique can be generalized to other angularly dispersive elements such as prismatic output couplers.  相似文献

We describe oscillating loops in a laser cavity and optical paths in a laser crystal of different wavelength rays for a four-mirror cavity Kerr-lens mode-locked laser. The relation between different wavelength ray paths and laser resonator parameters is deduced. The analytical expressions of second- and third-order dispersion including angular dispersion of the crystal are presented. The variations of group-delay dispersion (GDD) and third-order dispersion (TOD) with cavity parameters are calculated exactly. The calculation shows that GDD and TOD increase rapidly when the spacing between two folding mirrors approaches the boundary of a cavity stability zone. The rapid dispersion increase influences the mode-locked pulse width and the mode-locked stability.  相似文献

A C-band mode-locked fibre laser incorporating a boron nitride-doped graphene oxide (BN-GO)-based saturable absorber (SA) is proposed and demonstrated. The SA is fabricated by depositing multiple layers of synthesized BN-GO nanoparticles onto the polished surface of a side-polished fibre, which is then inserted into an erbium-doped fibre laser cavity to generate the desired pulsed output. The strong nonlinear optical response and light absorption of the BN-GO nanoparticles induces the generation of a highly stable mode-locked pulse at 1567.32?nm with visible Kelly’s sidebands. The pulses have a measured repetition rate of 13.56?MHz and a pulse width of 1.18?ps at the maximum pump power of 280.5?mW. The pulses have a frequency signal-to-noise ratio of ~53?dB, indicating a highly stable output. The proposed laser would find significant telecommunications applications, particularly for dense wavelength division multiplexing systems.  相似文献

Effective multiplexing for a very large number of fiber-optic fiber-Bragg-grating-based Fabry-Perot (FBGFP) sensors is proposed that is based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and spatial-frequency division multiplexing (SFDM). For WDM, FBGFP sensors are arranged in different wavelength domains formed by a series of chirped fiber Bragg gratings with different central wavelengths while the sensors with different cavity lengths within the same wavelength domain are multiplexed by use of SFDM because they have different spatial frequencies as a result of their different cavity lengths. In principle, a thousand FBGFP sensors could be multiplexed with such an approach. The experimental results show that a strain accuracy of better than +/-10 microepsilon has been achieved with little cross talk.  相似文献

By studying temperature-dependent dispersion characteristics and group velocity of 1D ternary photonic crystal (TPC) composed of dielectric-superconductor-dielectric materials, a thermally tunable band-stop filter which is capable of stopping unique wavelength channels without causing any interference amongst equally spaced wavelength channels of full width at half maximum of 1 nm each as per the requirement of wavelength division multiplexing standards adopted by the International Telecommunication Union specifying channel spacing in terms of frequency (wavelength) is suggested. The proposed structure can efficiently work as a two-channel wavelength selective switch for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM)-based all-optical networks. This study also gives theoretical insight to design some new kind of optical memories and tunable buffers which holds data temporary and have potential applications in modern communication systems.  相似文献

A fiber-Bragg-grating (FBG) transverse-force sensor based on a wavelength-switching actively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser is proposed, in which a FBG is used as both the sensing element and the wavelength-selection element of the laser. When a force is applied to the FBG, the induced birefringence in the FBG causes the laser to emit pulses at two close wavelengths, whose separation is proportional to the applied force. To suppress the interference between the two wavelengths, the laser is made to emit at the two wavelengths alternately by use of a polarization-switching technique. The wavelength separation is converted into a time difference by transmission of the laser pulses through a dispersive single-mode fiber, so the wavelength measurement is replaced by the less-expensive time measurement. The output of the sensor is insensitive to temperature and axial strain changes along the FBG. To interrogate similar FBG sensing elements connected in series it is necessary only to change the modulating frequency of an electro-optic modulator to select the corresponding laser cavity. The practicability of this approach was demonstrated experimentally with two multiplexed sensing elements.  相似文献

We propose three types of narrowband optical filters based on a Fox-Smith resonator. We demonstrate that by choosing the appropriate combination of coating materials on each prism facet, one can design either a high reflectance or a high transmittance optical filter, suitable for low bit rate optical communication applications with International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) standards. We also show the possibility of designing an optical filter having a desirable finite reflectance/transmittance ratio with simultaneous peaks at ITU-T standard wavelengths. We demonstrate a two-color, fiber-delivered picosecond source for coherent Raman scattering (CRS) imaging through nonlinear spectral transformation. The wavelength tunable picosecond pump is generated by nonlinear spectral compression of a prechirped femtosecond pulse in a fiber wavelength division multiplexer (WDM). The 1064-nm synchronized picosecond Stokes pulse is generated through pulse carving of a continuous wave laser, nonlinear spectral broadening in 100-m standard single-mode fiber, and subsequent dispersive compression with a fiber compressor. The pump and Stokes beams are combined and delivered by the fiber WDM. CRS imaging of mouse skin is performed to demonstrate the practicality of this source.  相似文献

Wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) techniques provide many advantages for building optical interconnect networks for massively parallel processing (MPP) systems. A design for a 1024-channel network for MPP systems based on the interconnection-cached network with vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays with one wavelength is described. We then show how a WDM version with four different wavelengths can increase the channel density. We also show how a WDM system can reduce the fan-in loss by a factor of 4. All the VCSEL's in each array are of the same wavelength, while different arrays use different wavelengths. We describe our experimental WDM subsystem containing four VCSEL arrays, operating at wavelengths of 843, 950, 970, and 980 nm, and three different WDM filters for multiplexing-demultiplexing. We present the operational results of the subsystem at 1 Gbit/s per channel.  相似文献

双光梳技术凭借其超高的频率分辨力与检测精度成为当今科研领域探索的重点。本文分别介绍了利用电光调制、微谐振腔、相位锁定两台独立的锁模激光器、单腔双光梳激光器产生双光梳的方法,重点阐述了基于单腔双波长激光器的双光梳产生方法集成度高、结构较简单、成本低的优势;之后详细介绍了目前单腔双光梳激光器中,双波长腔内运转的脉冲波形复用法、空间复用法、方向复用法、波长复用法和偏振复用法的工作原理及最前沿的研究进展;最后,具体分析了单腔双光梳在光谱学、测距、光纤传感等领域的应用情况,并展望未来单腔双光梳的研究与发展方向,为推动单腔双光梳技术性能的进一步提升和广泛应用提供借鉴。  相似文献
