Consumption of açaí fruits has been linked to positive health effects due to its phenolic content and nutritive value. The objective of this study was to characterize açaí fruits chemically and to determine the antioxidant capacity at three different maturity stages. With the exception of fat, amounts of macronutrients, minerals and titratable acids decreased during the ripening process. The same trend was observed for most of the phenolic constituents identified by HPLC–ESI-MS/MS. A consistent decline was shown for flavones and hydroxycinnamic acids. The concentration of the anthocyanins increased in the course of ripening. In accordance with the total amount of the identified phenolic compounds, the antioxidant capacity, measured by TEAC and TOSC, also decreased. However, the contribution of the main phenolic compounds to the overall antioxidant capacity evaluated by TOSC was estimated to be low.  相似文献

Phytochemical and bioactivity studies of the flowers of Melastoma malabathricum L. (Melastomataceae) have been carried out. The ethyl acetate extract yielded three compounds, identified as naringenin, kaempferol and kaempferol-3-O-d-glucoside, and methanol extract gave kaempferol-3-O-(2″,6″-di-O-p-trans-coumaroyl)glucoside and kaempferol-3-O-d-glucoside. The crude extracts and isolated compounds were screened for their antioxidant and cytotoxic activities. The antioxidant assay was carried out by the DPPH radical-scavenging electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopic method. The cytotoxicity was measured by the MTT assay against a MCF7 cell line. Naringenin, kaempferol, kaempferol-3-O-d-glucoside, kaempferol-3-O-(2″,6″-di-O-p-trans-coumaroyl) glucoside, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts were found to be active as radical-scavengers with IC50 values of 0.52 mM, 81.5 μM, 1.07 mM, 35.8 μM, 7.21 μg/ml and 6.59 μg/ml, respectively. Naringenin and kaempferol-3-O-(2″,6″-di-O-p-trans-coumaroyl)glucoside were also found to be active in inhibiting cell proliferation of MCF7 with IC50 values of 0.28 μM and 1.3 μM, respectively.  相似文献

The aerial parts of Sideritis syriaca ssp. syriaca (Lamiaceae) were extracted, after defatting, with diethyl ether, ethyl acetate and n-butanol. The antioxidant activities of the extracts were evaluated through in vitro model systems, such as 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) and Co(II) EDTA-induced luminol chemiluminescence. In both model systems the ethyl acetate extract was the most effective. Phytochemical analysis of ethyl acetate extract showed the presence of two new isomeric compounds (1 and 1′), identified as 1-rhamnosyl, 1-coumaroyl, dihydrocaffeoyl, protocatechuic tetraester of quinic acid, as well as chlorogenic acid (2), apigenin 7-O-glucoside (3), apigenin (4), 4′-O-methylisoscutellarein 7-O-[6′′′-O-acetyl-β-D-allopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-d-glucopyranoside] (5), isoscutellarein 7-O-[6′′′-O-acetyl-β-D-allopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-d-glucopyranoside] (6), 4′-O-methylisoscutellarein 7-O[β-d-allopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-d-glucopyranoside] (7) and 4′-O-methylisoscutellarein 7-O-[β-d-allopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-6′′-O-acetyl-β-d-glucopyranoside] (8). The above compounds were identified by spectroscopic methods.  相似文献

The antioxidant properties of alcoholic extracts from the leaves, berries and flowers of Sambucus nigra L. are estimated by means of DPPH and β-carotene/linoleic acid methods, and considered in relation to the extraction temperature (in the range 20-200 °C) and to the level of flavonoids most representative for this plant. The extracts of S. nigra act as antioxidants neutralizing the activities of free radicals and inhibiting the co-oxidation reactions of linoleic acid and β-carotene. There is no direct correlation between the level of flavonoids in the extracts and their antioxidant activity. The data presented show that the extraction temperature strongly influences the antioxidant properties of the extracts, especially in the case of leaves.  相似文献

The kernels of five bayberry cultivars (Biqi, Zaodamei, Ding-ao, Dongkui and Wandao), grown in Zhejiang Province, China, were analyzed for their proximate composition, protein fractionation, amino acid profile, fatty acid composition and mineral contents. The antinutritive compounds, tannin and cyanide, were also quantified. These bayberry kernels possessed 25.0–27.64% DW protein. A majority of storage protein in bayberry kernels was of the globulin form. The kernel protein was rich in methionine, arginine, aspartic and glutamic acids while limiting amino acid was lysine. The most outstanding feature was the abundant fat content (62.5–68.1% DW) of kernels. Approximately 84.9–90.1% of the fatty acids were unsaturated with oleic acid (43.3–50.7%) and linoleic acid (34.1–46.8%). Bayberry kernels were good sources of magnesium, potassium and calcium. These results may offer a scientific basis for use of the under-exploited bayberry seeds.  相似文献

Berries of Vaccinium meridionale Swartz native to Colombia were analysed for chemical composition, total phenolic content, anthocyanin content, and antioxidant activity. In addition, high-performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detection (HPLC–DAD) and HPLC-electrospray ionisation tandem mass spectrometry (ESI–MS/MS) were used to determine anthocyanin and phenolic composition. Anthocyanin content was 329.0 ± 28.0 mg cyanidin 3-glucoside equivalents/100 g (fresh weight) FW and total phenolic content was 758.6 ± 62.3 mg gallic acid equivalent/100 g FW. Cyanidin 3-galactoside was the major anthocyanin while the most abundant non-anthocyanin phenolic was chlorogenic acid.  相似文献

Samples of fruit from the jussara palm plant (Euterpe edulis), collected in different regions of the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, were analyzed for chemical composition, phenolic acids, anthocyanins, flavonoids and fatty acids profile. Results indicated that the jussara fruit has a high lipid content (18.45-44.08%), oleic acid (44.17-55.61%) and linoleic acid (18.19-25.36%) are the fatty acids found in the highest proportion, and other components were proteins (5.13-8.21%), ash (1.55-3.32%) and moisture (34.95-42.47%). Significant differences were found in the total phenolic, total monomeric anthocyanins and other flavonoids for the samples from the five cultivation regions. The fruit from region E harvested in summer, with high temperatures and medium altitudes, had the highest contents of total phenolics (2610.86 ± 3.89 mg 100 g−1 GAE) and monomeric anthocyanins (1080.54 ± 2.33 mg 100 g− 1 cy-3-glu). The phenolic compound included ferulic, gallic, hydroxybenzoic and p-coumaric acids, as well as catechin, epicatechin and quercetin. The results show promising perspectives for the exploitation of this tropical fruit with a chemical composition comprising considerable phenolic acids and flavonoids compounds and showing activity antioxidant.  相似文献

Five flavonoids, (2S,3S)-dihyrokaempferol 3-O-β-d-glucoside (1) and its isomer (2R,3R)-dihydrokaempferol 3-O-β-d-glucoside (2) , isovitexin (3), velutin (4) and 5,4′-dihydroxy-7,3′,5′-trimethoxyflavone (5), were isolated from acai (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) pulp. The structures of these compounds were elucidated based upon spectroscopic and chemical analyses. To our knowledge, compounds 1, 2, 4 and 5 were identified from acai pulp for the first time. The in vitro antioxidant activities of these compounds were evaluated by the oxygen radial absorbance capacity (ORAC) assay. The ORAC values varied distinctly (4458.0–22404.5 μmol Trolox equivalent (TE)/g) from 5,4′-dihydroxy-7,3′,5′-trimethoxyflavone (5) to isovitexin (3) and were affected by the numbers/positions of hydroxyl groups, substitute groups, as well as stereo configuration. The anti-inflammatory effects of these compounds were screened by the secreted embryonic alkaline phosphatase (SEAP) reporter assay, which is designed to measure NF-κB activation. Velutin (4) was found to dose-dependently inhibit SEAP secretion in RAW-blue cells induced by LPS, with an IC50 value of 2.0 μM. Velutin (4) also inhibited SEAP secretion induced by oxidised LDL, indicating potential athero-protective effects.  相似文献

Consumption of fruits and vegetables has been associated with a healthy state which has been attributed, in part, to their antioxidant capacity. Characterization of the bioactive compounds with antioxidant activity found in fruits cultivated in the tropic is limited. Thus, the objective of the present work was the characterization of phytochemicals and antioxidants of the fruit of black sapote (Diospyros digyna Jacq.). HPLC-DAD-Mass Spectrometry (HPLC-MS) analyses were used to identify and quantify phenolics, carotenoids and tocopherols. Total soluble phenolic content was 247.8 mg GAE/100 g fw (fresh weight). Important phenolics identified were sinapic acid, myricetin, ferulic acid, and catechin. Total carotenoid content was 399.4 ??g of ??-carotene/100 g fw, and ??-carotene and lutein were the main carotenoids identified. ??-Tocopherol concentration was 672.0 ??g/100 g dry weight. Antioxidant capacity as measured by the DPPH and FRAP assays was higher in the hydrophilic than in the lipophilic extract, and it is thought to be due mainly to the phenolic content of this fruit. Results suggest that the fruit of black sapote has an antioxidant capacity comparable to other important fruits, and its inclusion in the diet is therefore recommended.  相似文献

There are two predominant palm tree species producing edible fruit known as “açaí” found widely dispersed through the Amazon: Euterpe oleracea Mart. and Euterpe precatoria Mart. They differ from each other in terms of how the plants grow and their phytochemical composition. E. oleracea (EO) has received considerable attention as a “super fruit” because of its high antioxidant capacity, while studies on E. precatoria (EP) remain rare. In this study, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of EP fruit pulps were evaluated by different assays including a series of oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) based assays, the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, the cell-based antioxidant protection in erythrocyte (CAP-e) assay, as well as the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) secreted embryonic alkaline phosphatase (SEAP) assay. Total phenolics were also measured as an indication of the total phenol content. For comparative purposes, the EO fruit pulp was included. The antioxidant capacity of the EP fruit pulp was determined to be superior to the EO fruit pulp in every chemical based assay. In the cell-based CAP-e assay, the EP fruit pulp showed a dose-dependent inhibition against oxidative damage with an IC50 of 0.167 g/l. In the SEAP reporter assay, the EP fruit pulp polyphenol-rich extracts inhibited lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced NF-κB activation by 23% (p < 0.05) at 20 μg/ml, whereas the extract of the EO fruit pulp did not show a significant inhibitory effect at comparable doses. In addition, carotenoids were quantified for the first time in EP, since EP has high scavenging capacity against singlet oxygen.  相似文献

Bayberry (Myrica rubra Sieb. et Zucc.) kernel protein isolate (BKPI) was isolated from bayberry kernel defatted flour (BKDF) by isoelectric precipitation. BKPI was evaluated for chemical composition and selected functional properties with defatted kernel flour as reference. BKPI contained over 90% dry weight (DW) of protein versus 60.5% DW of protein in BKDF. It possessed a well-balanced amino acid composition according to the FAO/WHO reference except for a low content of lysine. BKPI had a solubility profile similar to that of BKDF, with minimum solubility observed at pH 4.0 and maximum solubility at pH 12.0. BKPI exhibited minimum foaming capacity (FC) (31.1%) and maximum foaming stability (FS) (72.7%) at pH 4.0. Minimum emulsifying capacity (EC) and emulsifying stability (ES) of BKPI and BKDF were observed at pH 4.0. BKPI had a least gelation concentration of (LGC) of 6% (w/v) at pH 4.0. Results indicated that bayberry kernel has potential to be exploited as a new protein source in China.  相似文献

The flavonoids composition of kumquat (Fortunella japonica) crude juice, obtained from uripe and ripe fruits, were investigated by reverse-phase LC-DAD-ESI-ITMS analysis. Thirteen compounds (C- and O-glycosyl flavonoids) were identified. Acacetin 3,6-di-C-glucoside (1), vicenin-2 (2), lucenin-2 4′-methyl ether (3) narirutin 4′-O-glucoside (4) and apigenin 8-C-neohesperidoside (5) were identified for the first time in kumquat juice. Furthermore, we report on the remarkable antioxidant properties of crude juice, of selected flavonoids fractions and of the main component, phloretin 3′,5′-di-C-glucoside (6).  相似文献

Polyphenols and anthocyanins were extracted from Kadsura coccinea fruit. The contents of total phenolics and anthocyanins, influences of pH and temperature on anthocyanins, and antioxidant activities of extracts were further analyzed. The results showed that the total phenolic content of peel extracts was superior to that of pulp extracts. The total anthocyanin content of peel extracts was 180 ± 2.91 mg/100 g of fresh peel tissues. K. coccinea anthocyanins were stable below pH 4, whilst high temperature and extended heating time induced their degradation. Metal-chelating capacity (MCC) assay indicated that no ortho-dihydroxy aromatic moiety existed in the B-ring of the anthocyanin molecules, but there might be a catechol group in the B-ring of the polyphenol molecules. 1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging activity and reducing power of extracts decreased in the following order: peel polyphenol extracts > anthocyanin extracts > pulp polyphenol extracts. It would be worthwhile to introduce this rare fruit into more countries.  相似文献

This paper presents the centesimal and mineral composition, fatty acid profile of the lipidic fraction, phenolic and anthocyanin contents, and antioxidant activity of Gaylussacia brasiliensis fruit. The results indicated the following composition: moisture (81.30%), lipids (0.62%), proteins (0.56%), carbohydrates (10.74%), dietary fiber (6.53%), and ash (0.25%). The main elements comprising the mineral composition were K, Mg, Ca, and Fe. The fatty acid composition was characterized by a high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (62.2%) and a high PUFA/SFA ratio (2.92). The G. brasiliensis fruit contained considerable amounts of phenolics (492.87 mgAG/100 g) and anthocyanins (240.43 mg/100 g), which contribute to its high antioxidant activity. This study highlights the potential of this fruit as an important source of both nutritional and bioactive compounds available in the native Brazilian flora.  相似文献

Phytochemical compounds in fruits and vegetables have gained great importance in the last few years because of the increasing evidence suggesting their antioxidant and prevention of chronic diseases. Carotenoids, phenolics, flavonoids, and vitamins E and C, are among these phytochemicals. Several fruits have been characterized so far for their antioxidant and health properties but there is still limited information on fruits from the tropic. Therefore, the objective of this study was the characterization of mamey fruit (Pouteria sapota Jacq. H. E. Moore & Stearn) with regard to their antioxidant capacity and phytochemical profile. Phenolics, carotenoids and ??-tocopherol were quantified and identified by HPLC-DAD-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), and DPPH and FRAP assays were used to evaluate antioxidant capacity. Hydrophilic extracts of mamey fruit showed higher antioxidant capacity than the lipophilic portion. Total soluble phenols content was 28.5 mg GAE/100 g fw, being p-hydroxybenzoic acid as the main phenolic that was identified. Total carotenoid content was 1127.9 ??g ??-carotene/100 g fw with ??-carotene being the main contributor, in addition to lutein, and violoxanthin. Concentration of ??-tocopherol was 360.0 ??g/100 g fw. Results of this study suggest that mamey fruit is a good source of carotenoids and its inclusion in the diet is recommended.  相似文献

The antioxidant activities (AA) of Sechium edule extracts were tested by three established in vitro methods, namely reducing power, β-carotene linoleate model and 1,1- diphenyl-2 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging. Leaf ethanolic extracts and leaf and seed water extracts showed strong inhibitory activity by β-carotene bleaching (AA values of 90%). Furthermore, these extracts exerted hydrogen-donating ability in the presence of DDPH stable radical (IC50 2 μg/ml). These extracts also showed strong reducing power by the potassium ferricyanide reduction method. Leaf and seed extracts may be exploited as biopreservatives in food applications as well as for health supplements or functional food, to aleviate oxidative stress.  相似文献

Anthocyanins, present in the berries of Smilax aspera L., a creeping shrub typical of the Mediterranean region, were extracted and identified for the first time. The pigments were extracted from the skin of the berries with of 0.1% HCl in methanol solution, purified on a C-18 solid-phase cartridge and characterized by means of HPLC-DAD-MS analysis. From spectral analysis before and after acid and alkaline hydrolysis, it was noted that pelargonidin 3-O-rutinoside represented about 83% of the total anthocyanin content in the skin of Smilax aspera berries. A low quantity of cyanidin 3-O-rutinoside (13%) was also found. The attractive colour and the great abundance of the plant in the south of Italy make Smilax aspera berries a new and very good source of natural pigments.  相似文献
