This article will focus on some of these assumptions in the test procedures employed by the industry, examine why and how they were made, question their validity, see where they have led us, and finally, review how improvements in the process of applying new cable technology may be brought about. The industry has made many advances in the past 20 years. These involve not only tree-retardant, crosslinked polyethylene or strippable insulation shields, but also “very smart” shields with controlled strippability and reduced ion content. We now have water blocking constructions, both using strand filling compounds and metallic moisture barriers. Techniques are available for impregnating or drying aged installed cables to extend life and delay replacement. Perhaps most encouraging is the generally accepted but not universal use of cable jackets which provide mechanical protection and a partial moisture barrier role at minimal increased cost  相似文献

京都协议CO2的减排压力,石油及天然气资源等的约束,使欧洲电力发展的目光转向高效清洁的燃煤发电技术。而基于材料技术的突破,高效超超临界技术的成熟,原有煤电机组的逐步退役及德国上大压小的成功经验等,目前欧洲已普遍采用600℃等级的大容量超超临界发电技术,并准备建设二氧化碳捕捉系统(CCS)。介绍了欧洲目前大力发展大容量燃煤超超临界机组的历史背景和现状。欧洲的超(超超)临界技术,采用塔式锅炉,无调节级和低凝汽压力汽轮机;100%容量高效汽动给水泵,单列高加,全容量高低压旁路,机组具备FCB功能,注重排烟热能综合利用,采用单列锅炉辅机等,均是极具参考价值的先进设计。外高桥三期工程,借鉴德国的依托新建项目不断推动技术进步的经验,在消化吸收先进技术的同时注重技术创新,取得了诸如锅炉蒸汽加热启动和稳燃技术等相当一批创新成果的成功,使机组的综合性能跃上了一个新的台阶。  相似文献

This paper is a cautionary tale for performance-based regulation (PBR) to serve the public interest. There are different reasons for why PBR may fail to benefit utility customers. This paper provides a numerical example that shows that setting the wrong benchmark can have unintended consequences. Despite predictions that computer-switching speeds are fast approaching fundamental limits, consumers continue to see a steady increase. Improved performance has pushed the clock speed of top end personal computers well over the 400 MHz mark. Perhaps more impressive, this improvement in operating speed has been achieved through incremental improvements on existing technology. Current personal computers have yet to exploit the potential of non-traditional computing technologies, such as optics and high speed GaAs. As these technologies are integrated into desktop computers, expect more significant increases in clock speed and overall performance. This trend of increasing processor speed naturally leads to questions concerning its actual fundamental limits. 1) What factors limit the speed of current integrated circuit (IC) based computers? 2) Is current IC technology approaching a fundamental limit? 3) What factors must be overcome to continue increasing computer speed?
