Platform service providers in Korea and worldwide have launched over-the-top (OTT) bundled services, which increase market competitiveness. Forecasting the market expansion strategies of these providers can thus shed light on their future actions and influence government policies. In this context, this is the first study to analyze consumer preferences for bundled pay-TV and OTT services. However, due to a lack of market data availability, we conducted a discrete choice experiment and analyzed the marginal utilities of attributes using a mixed logit model. The results demonstrate that consumers expect an additional discount for pay-TV services when bundled with OTT services and that the more bundled services they currently use, the less sensitive they are to the discount rate. Furthermore, we found that OTT and TV broadcasting services have a complementary, rather than a substitute, relationship. Finally, according to a simulation analysis for the Korean broadcasting market, bundling OTT services to expand the market share of pay-TV service providers was largely ineffective.  相似文献

Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) produced the first full version of the WCDMA standard at the end of 1999. This release, called Release'99, contains all the necessary elements to meet the requirements for IMT‐2000 technologies, including 2 Mbps data rate with variable bit‐rate capability, support of multi‐service, QoS differentiation and efficient packet data. The Release 5 specifications were created in March 2002 and they contain downlink packet data operation enhancement, under the title high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA). HSDPA utilizes Hybrid ARQ and higher order modulation for improving data‐spectral efficiency and for pushing bit rates beyond 10 Mbps. The further 3GPP releases will study the enhancements of packet‐data performance in uplink. Other important features in future 3GPP releases include advanced antenna technologies and WCDMA standard for new spectrum allocations. Digital broadcasting technology has developed focusing on multi‐channel/multi‐media, high‐definition quality, and mobility‐support. Recently, there has been a clear trend toward bidirectional service with the convergence between broadcasting and communication. The broadcasting viewer is no longer simply a passive receptor but has also become an information generator. Currently, the digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) specifications are the major standard for portable digital broadcasting and have been establishing the overall guidelines for bidirectional service using the MPEG‐4 system. While detailed specifications for DMB systems are not well‐established for bidirectional service yet, they share the basic concepts underlying the European Eureka‐147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system. This paper develops key scenarios for bidirectional service in DMB, describes the signal transaction of broadcasting and return channels, and demonstrates typical scenarios using binary format for scenes (BIFS) in the MPEG‐4 system.  相似文献

本文将证明HSDPA缺乏技术理论基础,利用现有的CDMA基本原理无法实现HSDPA应该达到的目标:在小区内利用一个载波给多个用户同时提供高速数据和语音业务的应用,显然此时要求提供的下行业务容量应比单独提供语音业务时更大.同时给出一种利用码分多址/时分多址改进HSDPA的方案,它将利用码分多址区分语音和高速数据业务信道,在语音和高速数据业务信道中分别选用码分和时分多址方式.这种方法可改进WCDMA标准上下行容量基本对称的技术缺陷,使其符合移动因特网的需求.  相似文献

高速下行分组接入(HSDPA)技术是针对第三代移动通信系统上、下行链路业务量不平衡的特点提出的,能够大幅提高下行传输速率。在R5版本中WCDMA和TD-SCDMA分别引入了HSDPA。两系统中的HSDPA技术在MAC层、物理层和技术上有一致性,但同时二者在物理层信令参数、物理信道种类、时隙调整、技术和整体性能上存在着一些差异,而差异的产生源于WCDMA和TD-SCDMA系统本身特点的不同。主要阐述了WCDMA和TD-SCDMA HSDPA的异同,并进行分析。  相似文献

This letter proposes a conditional access system (CAS) suitable for use in terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T‐DMB), based on an effective multiplexing method to provide encrypted T‐DMB services. Specifically, the proposed multiplexing method for a CAS is designed to reduce the additional bit rate while assuring easy access to the designated encrypted services. Finally, the performance of the implemented CAS is confirmed through implementation and a broadcasting experiment under various service environments.  相似文献

Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) is an upcoming standard in Korea used to provide mobile multimedia broadcasting service based on the Eureka‐147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system. The current dominant multimedia coding standard, MPEG‐4, is foreseen to play an important role in forthcoming DMB services. However, the current approaches for transporting MPEG‐4 content over DMB networks are not optimized. To address this issue we propose a novel MPEG‐4 stream multiplexer, called M4SMux, which provides better stream multiplexing and delivery over DMB networks. M4SMux features an MPEG‐4 elementary‐stream interleaving mechanism that reduces the multiplexing overhead and a multiplex configuration mechanism that utilizes M4SLinkTable for easy content access. In addition, we propose an error correction method which enhances transport efficiency.  相似文献

With its rapid growth in popularity and attendant personal and commercial use of voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), spam over VoIP has emerged as a significant problem. In this paper, we first applied genetic algorithms to weight predetermined features of VoIP calls. Based on the weighting technique, we then proposed a mechanism for the online prevention of VoIP spam by the k‐nearest neighbor classification. Differing from the traditional k‐nearest neighbor algorithm, this paper used genetic algorithms to weight features to reflect the different degree of importance of each feature. VoIP is a real‐time communication service, as compared to off‐line e‐mail, and VoIP spam is also known as Spam over Internet telephony (SPIT). The system proposed in this paper has been named PSPIT that denotes Prevention of SPIT. Once spam is identified, the proposed PSPIT immediately updates the built‐in blacklist on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) server to block that specific user from sending SPIT again. The n‐fold cross‐validation was applied to evaluate PSPIT for unknown SPIT detection; in the case of n = 2, the best overall accuracy was 94.7%, whereas in the case of n = 4, the best overall accuracy was 93.1%. We introduce an advanced terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (AT‐DMB) system that overcomes the limitation of data transmission rates of T‐DMB by doubling it with the same frequency bandwidth. In this letter, we propose an efficient algorithm which generates a scalable transport stream in AT‐DMB by multiplexing certain types of elementary streams encoded using scalable video coding and an MPEG‐surround audio coder for high‐quality multimedia services.  相似文献

This letter presents a hybrid conditional access system (CAS) for advanced terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (AT‐DMB). The proposed architecture is characterized by its use of a unified CAS channel and various communication networks for CAS message transmissions. We implement a prototype CAS based on the hybrid architecture, which improves the CAS message transmission efficiency greatly compared to the existing T‐DMB CAS standard and supports various AT‐DMB interlayer services more easily and efficiently.  相似文献

In the last century, owing to the constant evolution of technologies telecommunication networks have become increasingly robust, being able to support multiple services. These services are part of the heterogeneous network traffic that can be carried through the Internet. Many of these services, including VoIP, are latency sensitive. In other words, this means that their quality depends directly on the network quality of service. Since users tend to become more sensitive with the instability and unavailability of the network, it is important to improve traffic management. A particular type of data that could be used to improve VoIP traffic management is the Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR). IPDRs are tickets created by all VoIP call attempts which contain a group of information related to the call history. Because of its full range of information, IPDRs can be used to create VoIP traffic baselines. Hybrid digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) is a next‐generation mobile TV system that combines broadcasting and wireless communication networks and can provide various high‐quality multimedia services. However, if a system adheres to the current standard of transmitting the DMB content in the form of MPEG2‐TS through wireless networks, it results in a burden on the network due to low transmission efficiency. The reasons for the low transmission efficiency are as follows. First, due to its constant bitrate characteristic, DMB MPEG2‐TS includes a considerable amount of needless information, such as NULL packets and stuffing bytes. Second, due to the inflexibility of the Real‐time Transport Protocol (RTP) standard, one cannot fully utilize the maximum transmission unit of the network when converting MPEG2‐TS to RTP stream for transmission. This paper proposes a new transmission scheme that resolves these problems. Experiment results show that the proposed scheme improves data bitrate transmission efficiency by 8% to 36%, compared to the standard scheme, in the streaming of various real‐DMB contents.  相似文献

This work establishes a QoS-driven adaptive congestion control framework that provides QoS guarantees to VoIP service flows in mixed traffic scenarios for wireless cellular networks. The framework is composed of three radio resource management algorithms: admission control, packet scheduling, and load control. The proposed framework is scalable to several services and can be applied in any current or future packet-switched wireless system. By means of dynamic system-level simulations carried out in a specific case study where VoIP and Web service flows compete for shared access in an HSDPA wireless network, the proposed framework is able to increase the overall system capacity twofold depending on the traffic mix, while keeping the system operating optimally in its target QoS profile.  相似文献
