called PhotoGeo, which aims at helping users with the people photo annotation, event photo annotation, storage and retrieval
of personal digital photos. To achieve the desired objective, PhotoGeo uses new algorithms that make it possible to annotate

The advancement of digital photography and the popularity of photo sharing social media such as Instagram and Facebook have undoubtedly stimulated growing interest in aesthetics quality improvement. One aspect of photography that contributes to high quality photos is image composition; the spatial arrangement of photo subjects in the image frame. Professional photographers often apply a wealth of photographic composition rules, e.g., rule of thirds, visual balance and simplicity to capture compelling photos. In the recent years, aesthetics-driven recomposition that attempts to computationally modify the composition of an image to mimic a professional photo has started to receive considerable research interest. Researchers have proposed numerous recomposition techniques that utilize a single or a combination of multiple image operators, i.e., cropping, warping and patch rearrangement operators, to modify the composition of an image. In this paper, we present a survey on the state-of-the-arts aesthetic-driven image recomposition. We define the image recomposition problem, outline its objectives, and provide a comprehensive review of the existing image recompositoin techniques, together with a detailed analysis of the effectiveness of each technique in achieving the recomposition objectives. With the advance of digital acquisition and storage technology, people got used to take photos at will and to record almost
any event with (many) photos. However, large amounts of photos without appropriate organization for access and consumption
raise several potential problems, reducing the users’ quality of experience. Therefore, to facilitate an effective photo selection
and organization process making the consumption process more enjoyable, it is useful to develop advanced image analysis and
presentation tools, eventually integrating also some music content in a synchronized way, to further boost the photo presentation
user experience. As people’s time is getting more precious and scarce, the availability of applications able to automatically
generate a musical slideshow as a pleasant way to consume large amounts of photos is highly desirable. In this context, this
paper describes the context and motivation for the development of a musical slideshow application, the architecture designed
and the entire signal processing flow implemented. To assess the performance of this multimedia application, a user evaluation
methodology was designed and applied with promising results, showing that the developed application is able to create entertaining

Digital cameras have become an essential product when traveling or attending events. Because of its popularity and low cost,
it is increasingly likely that more than one camera will be used at an event. The total number of photos captured is also
increasing. Although the cost of digital photographs is low, managing numerous digital photos is burdensome to most users.
Thus, an intelligent management tool for digital photos is required. In this paper, we propose novel clustering algorithms
for concurrent digital photos obtained from multiple cameras. Since previous studies only considered a single user’s photo
collection, they are not applicable to concurrent photos obtained from a group of photographers. To handle this situation,
we define temporal/spatial combined clustering for the set of group photos taken from different cameras. If photos are submitted
from a camera whose user has shown a preference between spatial and temporal clustering, we can obtain customized clustering
output from other photo sets according to the reference clustering characteristics. We also propose unsupervised methods for
general clustering output. Input concurrent photos are processed without a user’s true clusters, which can be a burden when
the number of photos in the true clusters is huge. We tested our methods via more than one thousand photos taken by tourist
groups. The final result was satisfactory compared to previous methods based on temporal (spatial) criteria only. 相似文献

What is the future of digital imaging? Mobile imaging technologies have been changing rapidly and will continue to do so. We explore new developments in cameraphone photography with the goal of improving the design of the next generation of mobile imaging devices. We equipped 26 diverse participants with cameraphones, photo uploading and sharing software, and access to online photo-accounts for 3–5 months. This study allowed us to identify emerging practices in mobile photoware. We report on new and continuing practices across the lifespan of photos in this new imaging environment, including image capture, upload, annotation, archiving, sharing, and viewing. Based on these results, we develop design criteria and implications for designers and makers of mobile devices, mobile imaging and sharing software, and desktop and online photo software. 相似文献

In this paper we present an automatic photo tag expansion method designed for photo sharing websites. The purpose of the method
is to suggest tags that are relevant to the visual content of a given photo at upload time. Both textual and visual cues are
used in the process of tag expansion. When a photo is to be uploaded, the system asks for a couple of initial tags from the
user. The initial tags are used to retrieve relevant photos together with their tags. These photos are assumed to be potentially
content related to the uploaded target photo. The tag sets of the relevant photos are used to form the candidate tag list,
and visual similarities between the target photo and relevant photos are used to give weights to these candidate tags. Tags
with the highest weights are suggested to the user. The method is applied on Flickr (). Results show that including visual information in the process of photo tagging increases accuracy with respect to text-based

Passing around stacks of paper photographs while sitting around a table is one of the key social practices defining what is commonly referred to as the ‘Kodak Generation’. Due to the way digital photographs are stored and handled, this practice does not translate well to the ‘Flickr Generation’, where collocated photo sharing often involves the (wireless) transmission of a photo from one mobile device to another. In order to facilitate ‘cross-generation’ sharing without enforcing either practice, it is desirable to bridge this gap in a way that incorporates familiar aspects of both.In this paper, we discuss a novel interaction technique that addresses some of the constraints introduced by current communication technology, and that enables photo sharing in a way, which resembles the passing of stacks of paper photographs. This technique is based on dynamically generated spatial regions around mobile devices and has been evaluated through two user studies. The results we obtained indicate that our technique is easy to learn and as fast, or faster than, current technology such as transmitting photos between devices using Bluetooth. In addition, we found evidence of different sharing techniques influencing social practice around photo sharing. The use of our technique resulted in a more inclusive and group-oriented behavior in contrast to Bluetooth photo sharing, which resulted in a more fractured setting composed of sub-groups. 相似文献
