New experimental data on the thermal conductivity and the density of liquid toluene are presented in the temperature range 0–100°C at pressures up to 250 MPa. The measurements of thermal conductivity were performed with a transient hot-wire apparatus on an absolute basis with an inaccuracy less than 1.0%. The density was measured with a high-pressure burette method with an uncertainty within 0.1%. The experimental results for both properties are represented satisfactorily by the Tait-type equations, as well as empirical polynomials, covering the entire ranges of temperature and pressure. Furthermore, it is found that simple relations exist between the temperature dependence of thermal conductivity and the thermal expansion coefficient, and also between the pressure dependence of thermal conductivity and the isothermal compressibility, as are suggested theoretically.  相似文献

New experimental data on the thermal conductivity of 14 organic liquids at atmospheric pressure are presented in the temperature range from 25 to 100°C. The liquids measured are five n-alkanes (C6, C7, C8, C10, C12), cyclohexane, six aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, ethylbenzene, o-, m-, p-xylenes, isopropylbenzene) and two phenyl halides (chloro-, bromobenzenes). The measurements were performed by a transient hot-wire method on a relative basis. The thermal conductivity of toluene, which was selected as a reference liquid, was determined on an absolute basis with another transient apparatus. The precision of the present experimental results is within ±1.2%. The uncertainty of the thermal conductivity values is estimated to be within ±2%; this includes the uncertainty of the values of toluene as the reference liquid. The experimental results for each liquid are represented satisfactorily by a linear equation in temperature. At a reduced temperature T/T c=0.5, thermal conductivity has a simple relation with the molar density for each homologous series of liquids.  相似文献

The thermal conductivity of argon between 107 and 425 K has been measured in a transient hot-wire instrument. The results in the limit zero density have been employed to assess the accuracy of the instrument using exact kinetic theory expressions and has been found to be better than ±0.5%. The data at elevated densities are employed to examine the applicability of the modified Enskog theory in the gaseous phase and the hard-sphere theory in the liquid phase.Paper presented at the Ninth Symposium on Thermophysical Properties, June 24–27, 1985, Boulder, Colorado, U.S.A.  相似文献

The paper presents new measurements on the thermal conductivity of three methane-ethane mixtures with methane mole fractions of 0.69, 0.50, and 0.35. The thermal conductivity surface for each mixture is defined by up to 13 isotherms at temperatures between 140 and 330 K with pressures up to 70 MPa and densities up to 25 mol · L–1. The measurements were made with a transient hot-wire apparatus. They cover a wide range of physical states including the dilute gas, the single-phase fluid at temperatures above the maxcondentherm, the compressed liquid states, and the vapor at temperatures below the maxcondentherm. The results show an enhancement in the thermal conductivity in the single-phase fluid down to the maxcondentherm temperature, as well as in the vapor and in the compressed liquid. A curve fit of the thermal conductivity surface is developed separately for each mixture.Paper presented at the Ninth Symposium on Thermophysical Properties, June 24–27, 1985, Boulder, Colorado, U.S.A.  相似文献

The thermal conductivity of binary liquid mixtures of water and 2-n-butoxyethanol has been measured within the temperature range 305–350 K at pressures up to 150 MPa. The measurements have been carried out with a transient hotwire instrument suitable for electrically conducting liquids and have an estimated accuracy of ±0.3%. The liquid mixture has a closed-loop solubility and reveals a lower critical solution temperature for a mole fraction of 2-n-butoxyethanol of 0.0478 at a temperature of 322.25 K. The results of the measurements reveal a small, but discernible, enhancement of the thermal conductivity of the solution at the critical composition.Paper presented at the Twelfth Symposium on Thermophysical Properties. This paper reports new, absolute measurements of the thermal conductivity of the liquid refrigerants R22, R123, and R134a in the temperature range 250–340 K at pressures from saturation up to 30 MPa. The measurements, performed in a transient hot-wire instrument employing two anodized tantalum wires as the heat source, have an estimated uncertainty of ±0.5%. A recently developed semiempirical scheme is employed to correlate successfully the thermal conductivity and the viscosity of these refrigerants, as a function of their density.  相似文献

The paper presents new experimental measurements of the thermal conductivity of liquid argon for four temperatures between 110 and 140 K with pressures to 70 MPa and densities between 23 and 36 mol · L –1. The measurements were made with a transient hot-wire apparatus. A curve fit of each isotherm allows comparison of the present results to those of others and to correlations. The results are sufficiently detailed to illustrate several features of the liquid thermal conductivity surface, for example, the dependence of its curvature on density and temperature. If these details are taken into account, the comparisons show the accuracy of the present results to be 1 %. The present results, along with several other sets of data, are recommended for selection as standard thermal conductivity data along the saturated liquid line of argon, extending the standards into the cryogenic temperature range. The results cover a fairly wide range of densities, and we find that a hard-sphere model cannot represent the data within the estimated experimental accuracy.  相似文献

New absolute measurements of the thermal conductivity of liquid benzene are reported. The measurements have been carried out in the temperature range 295–340 K, at atmospheric pressure, in a transient hot-wire instrument. The accuracy of the measurements is estimated to be ±0.5%. The measurements presented in this paper have been used, in conjunction with other high-pressure measurements of thermal conductivity and viscosity, to develop a consistent theoretically based correlation for the prediction of these properties. The proposed scheme permits the density dependence of the thermal conductivity and viscosity of benzene, for temperatures between 295 and 375 K and pressures up to 400 MPa, to be represented successfully by two equations containing just two parameters characteristic of the fluid at each temperature.  相似文献

New absolute measurements of the thermal conductivity of methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, pentanol, and hexanol at atmospheric pressure and in the temperature range 290–350 K are reported. The overall uncertainty in the reported thermal conductivity data is estimated to be better than ±0.5%, an estimate confirmed by the measurement of the thermal conductivity of water. The measurements presented in this paper have been used to develop a consistent theoretically based correlation for the prediction of the thermal conductivity of alcohols. The proposed scheme, based on an extention of the rigid-sphere model, permits the density dependence of the thermal conductivity of alcohols, for temperatures between 290 and 350 K and atmospheric pressure, to be represented successfully by an equation containing just one parameter characteristic of the fluid at each temperature.Paper presented at the Tenth Symposium on Thermophysical Properties, June 20–23, 1988, Gaithersburg, Maryland, U.S.A.  相似文献

This paper describes absolute measurements of the thermal conductivity of aqueous LiBr solutions in the concentration range 5 to 15m (molality), the temperature range 30 to 100°C, and the pressure range 0.1 to 40 MPa. The measurements have been performed with the aid of a transient hot-wire apparatus employing a thin tantalum wire coated with an anodic tantalum pentoxide insulation layer. In using the tantalum wire, a modification of the bridge circuit has been made to keep the electric potential of the wire always higher than the ground level in order to protect the insulation layer from breakdown. The experimental data, which have an estimated accuracy of ±0.5%, have been correlated in terms of the polynomials of concentration, temperature, and pressure for practical use. Also, it has been found that the pressure coefficient of the thermal conductivity decreases with increasing concentrations.  相似文献

Molten salts are one of the few remaining classes of fluids for which standardquality (±1% accuracy) data on thermal conductivity have not hitherto been available. We have therefore developed a new apparatus based on the transient hot-wire technique to obtain reference-quality measurements of the thermal conductivity of molten salts at high temperatures. Liquid metal-filled quartz capillaries served as insulated hot wires in our method, and in addition, a two-wire technique was used in order to obtain absolute values of the thermal conductivity. New data for the NaNO3-KNO3 eutectic between 525 and 590 K are reported in this paper and comparisons with other recent measurements are shown.  相似文献

Measurements of the thermal conductivities of the frozen layer of aqueous binary solutions have been performed using the transient hot-wire method. Solutions of ethylene glycol and sodium chloride were utilized as the testing fluids, and they were frozen up in the test section in which the platinum wires 40 m in diameter and 170 mm in length were strung. Measurements were carried out under equilibrium at a variety of both the initial concentration of the solution and the temperature of the frozen layer. The expressions of the thermal conductivity of the frozen layer were determined. It was found that the thermal conductivity of the dendritic ice layer was favorably assessed with the Lichteneker's model by introducing the solid fraction under an assumption of the equililbrium within the range of parameters examined.Paper presented at the Tenth Symposium on Thermophysical Properties, June 20–23, 1988, Gaithersburg, Maryland, U.S.A.  相似文献

The paper presents new experimental measurements of the thermal conductivity of methane for 14 temperatures between 110 and 310 K with pressures to 70 MPa and densities from 0 to 30 mol · L–1. The measurements were made with a transient hot-wire apparatus and they cover a wide range of physical states including the dilute gas, the moderately dense gas, the near-critical region, the compressed liquid states, and the vapor at temperatures below the critical temperature. The new measurements are closely spaced in temperature and density to describe the thermal conductivity surface, in particular the critical enhancement which extends to the highest temperature measured. A fit of the thermal conductivity surface allows comparison of the present results to those of others. The comparison reveals several discrepancies inherent in the results of others and in an earlier correlation. The precision (2) of the methane measurements is between 0.5 on 0.8 % for wire temperature transients of 4 to 5 K, while the accuracy is estimated to be 1.6%.  相似文献

Low-pressure thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity measurements are reported for argon and nitrogen in the temperature range from 295 to 350 K at pressures from 0.34 to 6.9 MPa using an absolute transient hot-wire instrument. Thermal conductivity measurements were also made with the same instrument in its steady-state mode of operation. The measurements are estimated to have an uncertainty of 1% for the transient thermal conductivity, 3% for the steady-state thermal conductivity, and 4% for thermal diffusivity. The values of isobaric specific heat, derived from the measured thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity, are considered accurate to 5% although this is dependent upon the uncertainty of the equation of state utilized.Paper presented at the Sixteenth European Conference on Thermophysical Properties, September 1–4, 2002, London, United Kingdom  相似文献

New measurements of the thermal conductivity of stainless steel AISI 304L over the temperature range 300 to 550 K are reported. To perform the measurements, the transient hot-wire technique was employed, with a new wire sensor. The sensor makes use of a soft silicone paste material and of two thin polyimide films, between the hot wires of the apparatus and the stainless steel specimen. The transient temperature rise of the wire sensor is measured in response to an electrical heating step over a period of 40 s to 2 s, allowing an absolute determination of the thermal conductivity of the solid, as well as of the polyimide film and the silicone paste. The method is based on a full theoretical model with equations solved by a two-dimensional finite-element method applied to the exact geometry. At the 95% confidence level, the standard deviation of the thermal conductivity measurements is 0.6%, while the standard uncertainty of the technique is less than 1.5%.  相似文献

New measurements of the thermal conductivity of liquid toluene between 300 and 550 K have been used to study the importance of radiative heat transfer when using the transient hot-wire technique. The experimental data were used to obtain the radiation correction to the hot-wire temperature rises. Radiationcorrected values of thermal conductivity are reported. This study shows that the transient hot-wire method is much less affected by radiation than steady-state techniques.  相似文献

The paper presents new experimental measurements of the thermal conductivity of hydrogen. The ortho-para compositions covered are normal, near normal, para, and para-rich. The measurements were made with a transient hot wire apparatus. The temperatures covered the range from 78 to 310 K with pressures to 70 MPa and densities from 0 to a maximum of 40 mol · L–1. For compositions normal and near normal, the isotherms cover the entire range of pressure, and the temperatures are 78, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250, 275, 294, 300, and 310K. The para measurements include eight isotherms at temperatures from 100 to 275 K with intervals of 25 K, pressures to 12 MPa, and densities from 0 to 12 mol · L–1. Three additional isotherms at 150, 250, and 275 K cover para-rich compositions with para percentages varying from 85 to 72%. For these three isotherms the pressures reach 70 MPa and the density a maximum of 30 mol · L–1. The data for all compositions are represented by a single thermal conductivity surface. The data are compared with the experimental measurements of others through the new correlation. The precision (2) of the hydrogen measurements is between 0.5 and 0.8% for wire temperature transients of 4 to 5 K, while the accuracy is estimated to be 1.5%.  相似文献
