Different reaction paths of mullite formation via sol-gel processing techniques are reviewed. These variations are due to differences in hydrolysis/gelation behaviours of the silica and alumina components used. Variations of pH during processing without altering other variables follow three different routes of mullite formation. In the highly acidic region(pH 1), the gel does not exhibit a 980 °C exotherm but forms -Al2O3. Mullite forms at high temperature by diminution of -Al2O3 and -cristobalite, respectively. In the pH range of 3–4.5, gels exhibit a 980 °C exotherm and develop only mullite. In the highly alkaline region (pH 14), the gel produces a Si-Al spinel phase at the 980 °C exotherm and mullite formation at the 1330 °C exotherm takes place from the intermediate Si-Al spinel phase.  相似文献

We report on the measurement of the frequency-dependent complex permittivity, ()=()-i(), over the frequency range, 30 MHz to 6 GHz, of silicon wafers and of thin dielectric films formed on silicon. Measurements, as a function of temperature and time treatments, were obtained by means of an HP Network Analyzer and dielectric probe and the resulting ()and()plots for the silicon wafers are shown to have a Debye-type [1] profile, thereby indicating that the associated polarization mechanism is of the orientational variety.  相似文献

The agglomeration process that occurs during annealing of thin Fe films (<200 nm) on Si substrates has been studied. Agglomeration occurred on uncapped films prior to silicide formation. Capping layers of SiO2, or more appropriately Si-SiO2, have been used to minimize agglomeration effects. Continuous thin films of -FeSi2 have been grown on 11 1 and 100 oriented substrates. Preferred growth of (202) and (220) suicide planes on 111 Si has been obtained, while preferential growth was not observed on 100 Si.  相似文献

The micromechanical properties of crystals of -cordierite, spinel, rutile, mullite, -cristobalite, and magnesium aluminosilicate have been studied. It was shown that the maximum Vickers hardness and maximum Dertev microbrittleness are found for crystals of magnesium aluminosilicate, cordierite, and spinel. Ageing characteristics of an extruded eutectoid Zn-Al based alloy were investigated using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The extruded alloy consisted of Al rich phase and Zn rich E and phases. The original cast eutectoid Zn-Al alloy was extruded at 250 °C. Both supersaturated s and s phase decomposed during extrusion and appeared as fine and coarse lamellar structures. The E and phases particles formed in the original interdendritic region. It was found that two Zn rich phases E and decomposed sequentially during ageing at 170, 140 °C. The decomposition of the E phase occurred as a discontinuous precipitation in the early stage of ageing and the decomposition of the phase took place in a four phase transformation: + T + in the prolonged ageing. Two typical morphologies of the decomposition of the Zn rich phases E and were distinctive in back-scattered scanning electron microscopy.  相似文献

Previously published complex impedance plots for the ionic conductor -PbF2 show the familiar depressed circular arcs with an angle 0.7 /2 and an activation energy for the volume conductivity W v=0.45 eV. A detailed analysis of this behaviour in terms of the recently developed non-Debye model shows the real part of the relative dielectric permittivity to have a frequency dependence 0.7–1, with a high frequency limit of 50 Hz and with only weak dependence on temperature. The low-frequency spurs on the impedance plots are shown to indicate an interfacial barrier at each electrode having a similar non-Debye frequency characteristic to the bulk but showing a strong temperature dependence with an activation energy equal to W v/2. This suggests the presence of low Debye-screened barriers of about k T height, resulting from depletion and accumulation of ionic carriers at incompletely transmitting electrodes. There is no visible effect of inter-grain boundaries on the flow of direct current.  相似文献

Ductile L20-type wires and+L12-type duplex wires with high strengths and large elongation in the Ni-Al-Fe and Ni-Al-Co ternary systems have been manufactured directly from the liquid state by an in-rotating-water spinning method. The wire diameter was in the range 80 to 180m and the average grain size was 2 to 4m for the wires and 0.2 to 1.0m for the+ wires. y, f and p of the wires were found to be about 360 to 760 MPa, 560 to 960 MPa, and 0.2 to 5.5%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Fe system, those of the+ wires were about 395 to 660 MPa, 670 to 1285 MPa, and 3.5 to 17%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Fe system, and about 260 to 365 MPa, 600 to 870 MPa, and 4.0 to 7.0%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Co system. Cold-drawing caused a significant increase in y and f and the values attained were about 1850 and 2500 MPa, respectively, for Ni-20Al-30Fe and Ni-25Al-30Co wires drawn to about 90% reduction in area. The high strengths, large elongation and good cold-workability of the melt-quenched and+ compound wires have been inferred to be due to the structural change into a low-degree ordered state containing a high density of phase boundaries, suppression of grain-boundary segregation and refinement of grain size.  相似文献

Measurements of the thermal conductivity are reported for an 80%3He-20%4He mixture above the critical point along several isotherms and near-critical isochores, using the same techniques and apparatus described for a study of3He. Using again the assumption that the observed conductivity can be decomposed into a sum of a regular and a singular contribution reg and sing, it is shown that along two near-critical isochores, sing diverges. In particular, along the isochore showing the largest at the phase transition, the divergence is nearly the same as for3He and can be roughly characterized by a simple power law (T-Tc) with 0.58. This observation is contrary to predictions that foresee sing0 asT c is approached. The relaxation times characterizing the attainment of steady state conditions after switching the heat flux on and off show a similar behaviour as a function of reduced temperature as do those for pure3He. This result might indicate a substantial coupling between concentration and entropy diffusion. Cylindrical stand-alone tubes of plasma-sprayed alumina were tested in uniaxial compression at room temperature, using strain gages to monitor axial strains. The effect of lamella size on the mechanical response was investigated by employing different starting powders to fabricate samples. The average powder sizes investigated included 9 m, 19 m and 32 m alumina; the resulting effective lamella diameters were 10 m, 28 m, and 55 m, respectively. Similar stress-strain hysteresis was observed on unloading in all tubes, independent of lamella size. A strong correlation between the failure stress and the cumulative strain at failure was also observed for tubes fabricated from the three powders. For samples with approximately constant densities, tubes plasma sprayed with the 9 m powder exhibited greater moduli than tubes sprayed from either 19 or 32 m powders. This difference was attributed to the greater percentage of unmelted -Al2O3 in the coating.  相似文献

The athermal transformation in Zr-2 at.% Nb alloy has been investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Analysis of the selected-area diffraction pattern has shown that the orientation relationships between the omega and the parent-phase in quenched Zr-2 at.% Nb alloy are the same as have been previously observed for the reaction in pure zirconium. Thus it was deduced that the direct transition has taken place in the alloy during cooling. The-originated -particles were visualized using the dark-field technique. The formation of the athermal omega in the-region of-stabilized Zr-Nb alloy is discussed in terms of the relative positions of the free energy equilibrium curvesT 0 ,T 0 ,T 0 and the correspondingM s ,M s andT s start curves. It is concluded that the omega phase can occur over a much wider range of alloy compositions than is usually recognized on the basis of transformation data.  相似文献

Alumina and aluminosilicate flakes with compositions Al2O3, 3Al2O32SiO2 and Al2O32SiO2 have been produced from commercial raw materials using a direct current plasma spray process in air. The microstructure and phase constitution of the as-sprayed flakes were examined with optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Changes in phase constitution of the flakes with heat-treatment were examined using differential thermal analysis (DTA) and XRD of heat-treated samples. The as-sprayed Al2O3 flakes consisted of -Al2O3 phase plus a minor -Al2O3 phase. The -phase could be removed by heat treating the flakes at 1300C for 2 h. The aluminosilicate flakes consisted of 3Al2O3:2SiO2 (mullite) and an amorphous phase which crystallised to 3Al2O3:2SiO2 (mullite) after heat treatment at 1100C for 2 h. These flakes may find applications as high temperature thermal insulation materials.  相似文献

Our previous theory yielded for the Zeeman splitting of the imaginaryJ=1 collective mode in3He-B the result =2+0.25J z ( is the effective Larmor frequency). In this paper we take into account the downward shift of the pair-breaking edge from 2 to 22– (2 and 1 are the longitudinal and transverse gap parameters). This leads to a complex Landé factor: the frequencies of theJ z =±1 components become =2+0.39J z , and the linewidths of these resonances become finite: =0.18. The coupling amplitudes of theJ z =±1 components to density are found to be proportional to gap distortion, (12/(/)2. Our results for the ultrasonic attenuation due to theJ z =±1,J=1 modes are capable of explaining the field dependence of the attenuation close to the pair-breaking edge as observed by Dobbs, Saunders, et al. The observed peak is caused by theJ z =–1 component: its height increases due to gap distortion as the field is increased, and the peak shifts downward in temperature and its width increases with the field due to the complex Landé factor. TheJ z =+1 component gives rise to a corresponding dip relative to the continuum attenuation.  相似文献

Starting from the nonequilibrium theory of dirty superconductors in the Ginzburg-Landau regime, spatially homogeneous states with an applied currentI=I 0+I 1 cos (t) are considered. Expressions for the linear response (I1 small) valid up to high frequencies (k BTc) are derived and evaluated analytically for the experimentally important case of smallI 0 and 0(T). Then the nonlinear response is treated for frequencies with E1. Interesting new behavior is found for frequencies 0 1, where 0 is essentially the GL relaxation time.  相似文献

The 2 phase transformation in fractured high temperature stress rupture Ti-48Al-2Nb(at.%) alloy has been studied by analytical electron microscopy. 2 and phases were found at grain boundaries. 2 layers that suspended in layers and interfacial ledge higher than 2d (111) at /2 interfaces were observed in the lamellar grains. These facts indicated that 2 phase transformation and dynamic recrystallization have occurred during high temperature stress rupture deformation. It can be concluded that deformation induced 2 phase transformation and dynamic recrystallization resulted in the presence of particles at grain boundaries. A structural and compositional transition area between deformation-induced 2(or ) and its adjacently original (or 2) phases was found by HREM and EDS and is suggested as a way to transform between and 2 phase during high temperature stress rupture deformation. The transition area was formed by slide of partial dislocations on close-packed planes and diffusion of atoms.  相似文献

Coprecipitated mullite precursor powders of the bulk compositions 78 wt% Al2O3+22 wt% SiO2 (high-Al2O3 material) and 72 wt% Al2O3+28 wt% SiO2 (low-Al2O3 material) have been used as starting materials. The precursor powders were calcined at 600, 950, 1000, 1250, and 1650 C, and test sintering runs were performed at 1550, 1600, 1650, 1700, and 1750 C. Homogeneous and dense ceramics were obtained from cold isostatically pressed (CIPed) powders sintered in air at 1700 C. Therefore, all further sintering experiments were carried out at 1700 C. After pressureless sintering, sample specimens were hot isostatically pressed (HIPed) at 1600 C and 200 bar argon gas pressure. Sintering densifications of low Al2O3 materials ranged between 94% and 95.5%. There was no clear dependency between densification and calcination temperature of the starting powders. High-Al2O3 compositions displayed sintering densities which increased from 97% at 600 C calcination temperature to 99% at 950 C calcination temperature. Higher calcination temperatures first caused slight lowering of the sintering density to 95.5% (calcination temperature 1250 C) but later the density strongly decreased to a value of 85% (calcination temperature 1650 C). HIPing of pressureless sintered specimens prepared from powders calcined between 600 and 1100 C yielded 100% density. At the given sintering temperature of 1700 C, the microstructure of sample specimens was influenced by Al2O3/SiO2 ratios and by calcination temperatures of the starting powders. Homogeneous and dense microstructures consisting of equiaxed mullite plus some minor amount of -Al2O3 were produced from high-Al2O3 powders calcined between 600 and 1100 C. Low-Al2O3 sample specimens sintered from precursor powders calcined between 600 and 1100 C were less dense than high-Al2O3 materials. Their microstructure consisted of relatively large and elongated mullite crystals which were embedded in a fine-grained matrix of mullite plus a coexisting glass phase. The different microstructural developments of high- and low-Al2O3 compositions may be explained by solid-state and liquid-phase sintering, respectively. The microstructure of HIPed samples was very similar to that of pressureless sintered materials, but without any pores occurring at grain boundaries.  相似文献

The microstructure of a /- directionally solidified (DS) eutectic alloy with a nominal composition of Ni-30.26Mo-6.08Al-1.43V (wt%) was investigated by means of high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) and analytical electron microscopy. The -fibres exhibited a typical morphology with a rectangular cross-section and they displayed the Bain orientation relationship (OR) with the / matrix; that is, [001][001] and (110)(010). Misfit dislocations and lattice strain fields existed at the / interface for different habit planes; that is, (110)(010) and (100)(110) were analysed. EDAX (Energy dispersive X-ray) analysis showed that the composition of the -phase was approximately Ni4(Mo, Al, V); it contained 90° rotational domains of Ni3(Mo, Al, V) with a DO22 structure and Ni2(Mo, Al, V) with a Pt2Mo structure.  相似文献

The paramagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition and the martensitic transformation of Fe-Mn (Mn 15–32 wt%) alloys have been investigated by resistivity, dilatometry and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that paramagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition increases the resistivity and the volume of alloys, whereas the martensitic transformation reduces the resistivity and volume of alloys. The A f that was determined by the dilatometric method is not the temperature that martensites in the Fe-Mn alloys have reverse transformed to austenites completely. Mn additions reduce M s, increase T N and the lattice parameter of austenite in the Fe-Mn alloys. Both the antiferromagnetic transition and the martensitic transformation lead to an increase in the lattice parameter of austenite. The lattice parameters both above T N and below T N decrease linearly with temperature. The lattice parameter below M s increases first and then decreases. Moreover, the (110) and (002) atomic planes in the Fe-15Mn-0.15C alloy are separated into two peaks: 2 for (002) is 44.16°, 2 for (110) is 44.47°.  相似文献

A new rationale is presented for various decomposition products obtained from the metastable -phase found in Ti-6A1-4V alloy produced by hot isostatic pressing comminuted melt-spun fibres and cooled to room temperature by furnace cooling. This alloy has an -matrix with about 8 vol% retained -phase, which is supersaturated with -stabilizers to such an extent that the martensitic transformation has been suppressed. The metastable -phase decomposes by different modes during continuous cooling, depending on the actual composition of individual -grains. Less enrichment of vanadium and iron favours the direct formation of the equilibrium -phase from the -matrix, while greater enrichment of vanadium and iron leads to a spinodal decomposition of the metastable -phase, resulting in a + two-phase structure. During further continuous cooling, the -phase which is lean in -stabilizers will transform into isothermal -phase. In addition, an unknown phase has also been observed in the -phase, which is typified by the appearance of 1/2{112} reflections in the SAD patterns.  相似文献
