The triblock energetic copolymer poly(lactic acid)‐block‐(glycidylazide polymer)‐block‐polystyrene (PLA‐b‐GAP‐b‐PS) was synthesized successfully through atom‐transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene and ring‐opening polymerization of d,l ‐lactide. The energetic macroinitiator GAP‐Br, which was made from reacting equimolar GAP with α‐bromoisobutyryl bromide, firstly triggered the ATRP of styrene with its bromide group, and then the hydroxyl group on the GAP end of the resulting diblock copolymer participated in the polymerization of lactide in the presence of stannous octoate. The triblock copolymer PLA‐b‐GAP‐b‐PS had a narrow distribution of molecular weight. In the copolymer, the PS block was solvophilic in toluene and improved the stability of the structure, the PLA block was solvophobic in toluene and served as the sacrificial component for the preparation of porous materials, and GAP was the basic and energetic material. The three blocks of the copolymer were fundamentally thermodynamically immiscible, which led to the self‐assembly of the block copolymer in solution. Further studies showed that the concentration and solubility of the copolymer and the polarity of the solvent affected the morphology and size of the micelles generated from the self‐assembly of PLA‐b‐GAP‐b‐PS. The micelles generated in organic solvents at 10 mg mL?1 copolymer concentration were spherical but became irregular when water was used as a co‐solvent. The spherical micelles self‐assembled in toluene had three distinct layers, with the diameter of the micelles increasing from 60 to 250 nm as the concentration of the copolymer increased from 5 to 15 mg L?1. © 2017 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Poly(n‐butyl methacrylate)‐block‐polydimethylsiloxane‐block‐poly(n‐butyl methacrylate) (PBMA‐block‐PDMS‐block‐PBMA) ABA triblock copolymers were synthesized successfully via atom‐transfer radical polymerization using PDMS as macroinitiator. The effects of PDMS content and substrate nature on self‐assembly behaviors of PBMA‐block‐PDMS‐block‐PBMAs were systematically studied using atomic force microscopy. Two series of triblock copolymers with different molecular weights and compositions, i.e. PBMA‐block‐PDMSA12‐block‐PBMAs and PBMA‐block‐PDMSA21‐block‐PBMAs, were used, where the latter were of a higher PDMS content than the former. On silicon wafer, it was found that only spherical structures formed after annealing films spin‐coated from chloroform solutions of PBMA‐block‐PDMSA12‐block‐PBMAs. In contrast, films of PBMA‐block‐PDMSA21‐block‐PBMAs formed semi‐continuous structures. On mica wafer, it was found that ordered cylindrical pores formed after annealing films spin‐coated from chloroform solutions of PBMA‐block‐PDMSA12‐block‐PBMAs. In contrast, films of PBMA‐block‐PDMSA21‐block‐PBMAs formed isolated cylinders or worm‐like morphologies. Copyright © 2011 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Block copolymers can form various ordered structures by self‐assembly, and their composites with inorganic materials may give surprising properties. This review summarizes recent developments in the preparation, mechanism and application of various types of self‐assembly of polystyrene‐block‐poly(2‐vinylpyridine) (PS‐b‐P2VP). The focus of the review is on how to control the self‐assembly of the dynamic and ordered structure of PS‐b‐P2VP based materials by applying effective factors such as thermal annealing, solvent annealing, block composition and blending. Moreover, the combination of the self‐assembly of PS‐b‐P2VP and various nanoparticles, with potentials in drug delivery, sensors and catalysis, is highlighted. © 2018 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Dually responsive amphiphilic diblock copolymers consisting of hydrophilic poly(N‐isopropyl acrylamide) [poly(NIPAAm)] and hydrophobic poly(9‐anthracene methyl methacrylate) were synthesized by reversible addition fragmentation chain‐transfer (RAFT) polymerization with 3‐(benzyl sulfanyl thiocarbonyl sulfanyl) propionic acid as a chain‐transfer agent. In the first step, the poly(NIPAAm) chain was grown to make a macro‐RAFT agent, and in the second step, the chain was extended by hydrophobic 9‐anthryl methyl methacrylate to yield amphiphilic poly(N‐isopropyl acrylamide‐b‐9‐anthracene methyl methacrylate) block copolymers. The formation of copolymers with three different hydrophobic block lengths and a fixed hydrophilic block was confirmed from their molecular weights. The self‐assembly of these copolymers was studied through the determination of the lower critical solution temperature and critical micelle concentration of the copolymers in aqueous solution. The self‐assembled block copolymers displayed vesicular morphology in the case of the small hydrophobic chain, but the morphology gradually turned into a micellar type when the hydrophobic chain length was increased. The variations in the length and chemical composition of the blocks allowed the tuning of the block copolymer responsiveness toward both the pH and temperature. The resulting self‐assembled structures underwent thermally induced and pH‐induced morphological transitions from vesicles to micelles and vice versa in aqueous solution. These dually responsive amphiphilic diblock copolymers have potential applications in the encapsulation of both hydrophobic and hydrophilic drug molecules, as evidenced from the dye encapsulation studies. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel, monodispersed, and well‐defined ABA triblock copolymers [poly(dimethylamino ethyl methacrylate)–poly(ethylene oxide)–poly(dimethylamino ethyl methacrylate)] were synthesized by oxyanionic polymerization with potassium tert‐butanoxide as the initiator. Gel permeation chromatography and 1H‐NMR analysis showed that the obtained products were the desired copolymers with molecular weights close to calculated values. Because the poly(dimethylamino ethyl methacrylate) block was pH‐ and temperature‐sensitive, the aqueous solution behavior of the polymers was investigated with 1H‐NMR and dynamic light scattering techniques at different pH values and at different temperatures. The micelle morphology was determined with transmission electron microscopy. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2009  相似文献

Amphiphilic linear–hyperbranched polymer poly(ethylene glycol)–branched polyethylenimine–poly(?‐caprolactone) (PEG‐PEI‐PCL) was synthesized by progressively conjugating PEG (one chain) and PCL (multi‐chains) to PEI (hyperbranched architecture) with a yield of 87%. PEG‐PEI‐PCL forms nano‐sized uniform spherical micelles by self‐assembly in water. The micelles had an average diameter of 56 nm determined using dynamic light scattering and 35 nm observed from transmission electron microscopy images. PEG‐PEI‐PCL was used as a stabilizer of platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) for the first time. The particle diameter of PEG‐PEI‐PCL‐stabilized PtNPs was 7.8 ± 1.4 nm. Amphiphilic (hydrophilic–hydrophilic–hydrophobic) and hyperbranched (linear–hyperbranched–grafted) structures enabled PtNPs to effectively stabilize and disperse in liquid‐phase synthesis. The highly disperse PtNPs in PEG‐PEI‐PCL micelles improved the catalytic activity for the reduction of 4‐nitrophenol with a catalytic yield of near 100%. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The miscibility, crystallization kinetics and crystalline morphology of a new system of poly(vinylidene fluoride)/poly(?‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(dimethylsiloxane)‐block‐poly(?‐caprolactone) (PVDF/PCL‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PCL) triblock copolymer were investigated by a variety of techniques. The miscibility and phase behaviour of PVDF/PCL‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PCL were studied by determination of the melting point temperature, crystallization kinetics and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) mapping. Chemical imaging was used as a new technique to characterize the interaction of polymer blends in crystalline morphology. The results demonstrate the existence of characteristic peaks of both PVDF and PCL in the chosen crystalline area. The crystalline structures of PVDF were affected by the PCL‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PCL triblock copolymer and facilitate the formation of the β polymorph which was illustrated by FTIR analysis. The β crystal phase fraction increases significantly on increasing the composition of the PCL‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PCL triblock copolymer. In addition, confined crystallization of PCL within PVDF inter‐lamellar and/or inter‐fibrillar regions was confirmed through polarizing optical microscopy, wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction and small‐angle X‐ray scattering analysis. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A series of novel amphiphilic triblock poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(2‐aminoethyl methacrylate hydrochloride)‐b‐poly(heptadeca‐fluorodecyl acrylate) (PEG‐b‐PAEMA‐b‐PHFDA) comprised of two hydrophilic PEG and PAEMA segments and one hydrophobic PHFDA segment was designed and synthesized. The structure of the triblock copolymer was characterized by 1H‐NMR and GPC analysis. The amphiphilic triblock copolymer was capable of self‐assembling into liquid‐filled micelles that consisted of PHFDA and liquid perfluorocarbons (PFCs) as the core and PEG as outer shell. PAEMA can be used as cross‐linking sites to increase the stability of the liquid‐filled micelles. The shape, size, and Acoustic properties of the obtained liquid‐filled micelles were investigated. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2009  相似文献

An approach to achieve confined crystallization of ferroelectric semicrystalline poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) was investigated. A novel polydimethylsiloxane‐block‐poly(methyl methacrylate)‐block‐polystyrene (PDMS‐b‐PMMA‐b‐PS) triblock copolymer was synthesized by the atom‐transfer radical polymerization method and blended with PVDF. Miscibility, crystallization and morphology of the PVDF/PDMS‐b‐PMMA‐b‐PS blends were studied within the whole range of concentration. In this A‐b‐B‐b‐C/D type of triblock copolymer/homopolymer system, crystallizable PVDF (D) and PMMA (B) middle block are miscible because of specific intermolecular interactions while A block (PDMS) and C block (PS) are immiscible with PVDF. Nanostructured morphology is formed via self‐assembly, displaying a variety of phase structures and semicrystalline morphologies. Crystallization at 145 °C reveals that both α and β crystalline phases of PVDF are present in PVDF/PDMS‐b‐PMMA‐b‐PS blends. Incorporation of the triblock copolymer decreases the degree of crystallization and enhances the proportion of β to α phase of semicrystalline PVDF. Introduction of PDMS‐b‐PMMA‐b‐PS triblock copolymer to PVDF makes the crystalline structures compact and confines the crystal size. Moreover, small‐angle X‐ray scattering results indicate that the immiscible PDMS as a soft block and PS as a hard block are localized in PVDF crystalline structures. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The self‐assembly of amphiphilic copolymers has been demonstrated to be a powerful route towards supramolecular objects with novel architectures, functions and physical properties. In this study, the synthesis and morphology of amphiphilic linear polystyrene (PS)‐block‐poly(2‐vinylpyridine) (P2VP) and heteroarm star PS‐star‐P2VP copolymers are studied. The dispersion of silver nanoparticles with the prepared PS‐block‐P2VP and PS‐star‐P2VP copolymers is also discussed. RESULTS: Amphiphilic copolymers with different P2VP chain lengths were successfully synthesized using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The copolymers prepared had low polydispersity indices. Various aggregate morphologies, including spheres, vesicles, rods, large compound micelles, two‐dimensional ring‐like and three‐dimensional hollow structures, were formed by varying the hydrophilic coil length and the selective solvent content. Silver nanoparticles showed good dispersion behavior in both types of copolymers. CONCLUSION: Based on this study, it will be possible to prepare metal/copolymer nanocomposites by direct mixing. Further, the PS‐block‐P2VP and PS‐star‐P2VP copolymers prepared can be used in the preparation of nanoporous films as templates and nanoparticles as nanoreactors. They can also be applied in terms of oil recovery, paints and cosmetics formulations, as well as in pharmaceutical and medical applications as rheological agents. Two polyisoprene‐block‐poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PI‐b‐PtBA) samples and a poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA) homopolymer (hPtBA) were prepared by anionic polymerization and characterized by light scattering, size exclusion chromatography, and NMR. The tert‐butyl groups were removed from one of the diblocks to yield amphiphilic polyisoprene‐block‐poly(acrylic acid) (PI‐b‐PAA). PI‐b‐PAA was then used as the surfactant to disperse dichloromethane containing PI‐b‐PtBA and hPtBA at different weight ratios as oil droplets in water. Solid microspheres containing segregated polyisoprene (PI) and PtBA/hPtBA domains were obtained after dichloromethane evaporation. Permanent microspheres were obtained after PI domain crosslinking with sulfur monochloride. Porous microspheres were produced after the hydrolysis of PtBA and the extraction of the homopoly(acrylic acid) chains. The shape and connectivity of the poly(acrylic acid)‐lined pores were tuned by changes in the PtBA/hPtBA content in the precursor microspheres. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of well‐defined amphiphilic poly[(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)‐block‐(N‐phenylmaleimide)] diblock copolymers containing hydrophilic and hydrophobic blocks of different lengths were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization. The properties of the diblock copolymers and their ability to form large compound spherical micelles are described. Their optical, morphological and thermal properties and self‐assembled structure were also investigated. The chemical structure and composition of these copolymers have been characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared, 1H NMR, UV–visible and fluorescence spectroscopy, and size exclusion chromatography. Furthermore, the self‐assembly behavior of these copolymers was investigated by transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering, which indicated that the amphiphilic diblock copolymer can self‐assemble into micelles, depending on the length of both blocks in the copolymers. These diblock copolymers gave rise to a variety of microstructures, from spherical micelles, hexagonal cylinders to lamellar phases. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Star‐shaped copolymers poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐bolck‐poly(ε‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐l ‐lysine) (SPPCL‐b‐PZLLs) with porphyrin core were synthesized by a sequential ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of CL and Nε‐Benzyloxycarbonyl‐l ‐lysine N‐Carboxyanhydride. After the deprotection of benzyloxycarbonyl groups in polylysine blocks, the star‐shaped amphiphilic copolymers SPPCL‐b‐PLLs were obtained. These amphiphilic copolymers can self‐assemble into micelles or aggregates in aqueous solution. Investigation shows that the morphology of micelles/aggregates varied according to the change of pH values of media, indicating the pH‐responsive property of SPPCL‐b‐PLL copolymers. Furthermore, associated with conjugated porphyrin cores, the SPPCL‐b‐PLL copolymers micelles showed a certain degree of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) effects on tumor cells, suggesting its potential application as carrier for hydrophobic drug with additional therapeutic ability of inherent porphyrin segments. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two series of poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐b‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) triblock copolymers were prepared by the ring opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone in the presence of poly(ethylene glycol) and dibutylmagnesium in 1,4‐dioxane solution at 70°C. The triblock structure and molecular weight of the copolymers were analyzed and confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FTIR, and gel permeation chromatography. The crystallization and thermal properties of the copolymers were investigated by wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results illustrated that the crystallization and melting behaviors of the copolymers were depended on the copolymer composition and the relative length of each block in copolymers. Crystallization exothermal peaks (Tc) and melting endothermic peaks (Tm) of PEG block were significantly influenced by the relative length of PCL blocks, due to the hindrance of the lateral PCL blocks. With increasing of the length of PCL blocks, the diffraction and the melting peak of PEG block disappeared gradually in the WAXD patterns and DSC curves, respectively. In contrast, the crystallization of PCL blocks was not suppressed by the middle PEG block. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2009  相似文献

Reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization was used successfully to synthesize temperature‐responsive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm), poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA), and their temperature‐responsive block copolymers. Detailed RAFT polymerization kinetics of the homopolymers was studied. PNIPAAm and PMAA homopolymerization showed living characteristics that include a linear relationship between M n and conversion, controlled molecular weights, and relatively narrow molecular weight distribution (PDI < 1.3). Furthermore, the homopolymers can be reactivated to produce block copolymers. The RAFT agent, carboxymethyl dithiobenzoate (CMDB), proved to control molecular weight and PDI. As the RAFT agent concentration increases, molecular weight and PDI decreased. However, CMDB showed evidence of having a relatively low chain transfer constant as well as degradation during polymerization. Solution of the block copolymers in phosphate buffered saline displayed temperature reversible characteristics at a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) transition of 31°C. A 5 wt % solution of the block copolymers form thermoreversible gels by a self‐assembly mechanism above the LCST. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 102: 1191–1201, 2006  相似文献

Three types of pegylated amphiphilic copolymers of poly(δ‐valerolactone) (PVL) were copolymerized with methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MePEG) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG4000 and PEG10,000), respectively. Pegylation of PVL allowed copolymers possessing amphiphilic property and efficiently self‐assembled to form micelles with a low critical micelle concentration (CMC) in the range of 10?7–10?8M. The average molecular weight of copolymers was in the range of 10,000–20,000 Da, and the polydispersity of copolymers was about 1.7–1.8. Higher mobility of low molecular weight PEG (i.e., MePEG and PEG4000) than high molecular weight PEG10,000 allowed valerolactone ring opening more efficient in terms of PVL/MePEG and PVL/PEG4000 copolymers possessing longer chain length in hydrophobic domain. Pegylated PVL with low CMC and triblock structure was preferred to encapsulate drug during micelle formation. Although all of these amphiphilic copolymers exhibited controlled release character, the micelles formed by triblock copolymer possessed a more stable core‐shell conformation than that by diblock copolymer, and resulted in the release of drug from triblock micelles slower than that from diblock micelles. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. pH and thermo‐responsive graft copolymers are reported where thermo‐responsive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) [poly(NIPAAm), poly A ], poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐2‐(diethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) [poly(NIPAAm‐co‐DEA), poly B ], and poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐methacrylic acid) [poly(NIPAAm‐co‐MAA), poly C ] have been installed to benzaldehyde grafted polyethylene glycol (PEG) back bone following introducing a pH responsive benzoic‐imine bond. All the prepared graft copolymers for PEG‐g‐poly(NIPAAm) [ P‐N1 ], PEG‐g‐poly(NIPAAm‐co‐DEA) [ P‐N2 ], and PEG‐g‐poly(NIPAAm‐co‐MAA) [ P‐N3 ] were characterized by 1H‐NMR to assure the successful synthesis of the expected polymers. Molecular weight of all synthesized polymers was evaluated following gel permeation chromatography. The lower critical solution temperature of graft copolymers varied significantly when grafted to benzaldehyde containing PEG and after further functionalization of copolymer based poly(NIPAAm). The contact angle experiment showed the changes in hydrophilic/hydrophobic behavior when the polymers were exposed to different pH and temperature. Particle size measurement investigation by dynamic light scattering was performed to rectify thermo and pH responsiveness of all prepared polymers. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of triple blends of high molecular weight poly(N‐vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) with oligomeric poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) of molecular weight 400 g/mol and copolymer of methacrylic acid with ethylacrylate (PMAA‐co‐EA) demonstrates partial miscibility of polymer components, which is due to formation of interpolymer hydrogen bonds (reversible crosslinking). Because both PVP and PMAA‐co‐EA are amorphous polymers and PEG exhibits crystalline phase, the DSC examination is informative on the phase state of PEG in the triple blends and reveals a strong competition between PEG and PMAA‐co‐EA for interaction with PVP. The hydrogen bonding in the triple PVP–PEG–PMAA‐co‐EA blends has been established with FTIR Spectroscopy. To evaluate the relative strengths of hydrogen bonded complexes in PVP–PEG–PMAA‐co‐EA blends, quantum‐chemical calculations were performed. According to this analysis, the energy of H‐bonding has been found to diminish in the order: PVP–PMAA‐co‐EA–PEG(OH) > PVP–(OH)PEG(OH)–PVP > PVP–H2O > PVP–PEG(OH) > PMAA‐co‐EA–PEG(? O? ) > PVP–PMAA‐co‐EA > PMAA‐co‐EA–PEG(OH). Thus, most stable complexes are the triple PVP–PMAA‐co‐EA–PEG(OH) complex and the complex wherein comparatively short PEG chains form simultaneously two hydrogen bonds to PVP carbonyl groups through both terminal OH‐groups, acting as H‐bonding crosslinks between longer PVP backbones. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polystyrene terminated with benzyl alcohol units was employed as a macroinitiator for ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone and L ‐lactide to yield AB‐ and ABC‐type block copolymers. Even though there are many reports on the diblock copolymers of poly(styrene‐block‐lactide) and poly(styrene‐block‐lactone), this is the first report on the poly(styrene‐block‐lactone‐block‐lactide) triblock copolymer consisting of two semicrystalline and degradable segments. The triblock copolymers exhibited twin melting behavior in differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis with thermal transitions corresponding to each of the lactone and lactide blocks. The block derived from ε‐caprolactone also showed crystallization transitions upon cooling from the melt. In the DSC analysis, one of the triblock copolymers showed an exothermic transition well above the melting temperature upon cooling. Thermogravimetric analysis of these block copolymers showed a two‐step degradation curve for the diblock copolymer and a three‐step degradation for the triblock copolymer with each of the degradation steps associated with each segment of the block copolymers. The present study shows that it is possible to make pure triblock copolymers with two semicrystalline segments which also consist of degradable blocks. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of different poly(ethylene glycol):poly(propylene glycol) (PEG:PPG) molar ratios in a triblock copolymer in the cure kinetics, miscibility and thermal and mechanical properties in an epoxy matrix. The poly(propylene glycol)‐block‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐block‐poly(propylene glycol) (PPG‐b‐PEG‐b‐PPG) triblock copolymers used had two different molecular masses: 3300 and 2000 g mol?1. The mass concentration of PEG in the copolymer structure played a key role in the miscibility and cure kinetics of the blend as well as in the thermal–mechanical properties. Phase separation was observed only for blends formed with the 3300 g mol?1 triblock copolymer at 20 wt%. Concerning thermal properties, the miscibility of the copolymer in the epoxy matrix reduced the Tg value by 13 °C, although a 62% increase in fracture toughness (KIC) was observed. After the addition of PPG‐b‐PEG‐b‐PPG with 3300 g mol?1 there was a reduction in the modulus of elasticity by 8% compared to the neat matrix; no significant changes were observed in Tg values for the immiscible system. The use of PPG‐b‐PEG‐b‐PPG with 2000 g mol?1 reduced the modulus of elasticity by approximately 47% and increased toughness (KIC) up to 43%. Finally, for the curing kinetics of all materials, the incorporation of the triblock copolymer PPG‐b‐PEG‐b‐PPG delayed the cure reaction of the DGEBA/DDM (DGEBA, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A; DDM, Q3‐4,4′‐Diaminodiphenylmethane) system when there is miscibility and accelerated the cure reaction when it is immiscible. All experimental curing reactions could be fitted to the Kamal autocatalytic model presenting an excellent agreement with experimental data. This model was able to capture some interesting features of the addition of triblock copolymers in an epoxy resin. © 2018 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
