A polyfluorinated aromatic diamine, 3,3′, 5,5′‐tetrafluoro‐4,4′‐diaminodiphenylmethane (TFDAM), was synthesized and characterized. A series of polyimides, PI‐1–PI‐4, were prepared by reacting the diamine with four aromatic dianhydrides via a one‐step high‐temperature polycondensation procedure. The obtained polyimide resin had moderate inherent viscosity (0.56–0.68 dL/g) and excellent solubility in common organic solvents. The polyimide films exhibited good thermal stability, with an initial thermal decomposition temperature of 555°C–621°C, a 10% weight loss temperature of 560°C–636°C, and a glass‐transition temperature of 280°C–326°C. Flexible and tough polyimide films showed good tensile properties, with tensile strength of 121–138 MPa, elongation at break of 9%–12%, and tensile modulus of 2.2–2.9 GPa. The polyimide films were good dielectric materials, and surface and volume resistance were on the order of a magnitude of 1014 and 1015 Ω cm, respectively. The dielectric constant of the films was below 3.0 at 1 MHz. The polyfluorinated films showed good transparency in the visible‐light region, with a cutoff wavelength as low as 302 nm and transmittance higher than 70% at 450 nm. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polypyrrole (PPy) and Polypyrrole‐ZnO (PPy‐ZnO) nanocomposites were electrodeposited on mild steel and its corrosion protection ability was studied by Tafel and Impedance techniques in 3.5% NaCl solution. Pure Polypyrrole film was not found to protect the mild steel perfectly but the coating with nano‐sized ZnO (PPy‐ZnO) has dramatically increased the corrosion resistance of mild steel. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) measurements indicated that the coating resistance (Rcoat) and corrosion resistance (Rcorr) values for the PPy‐ZnO nanocomposite coating was much higher than that of pure PPy coated electrode. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel aromatic diamine, 1,1‐bis(4‐amino‐3,5‐dimethylphenyl)‐1‐(3,4,5‐trifluorophenyl)‐2,2,2‐trifluoroethane, containing a pendant polyfluorinated phenyl group, a trifluoromethyl group, and methyl groups ortho‐substituted to the amino groups in the structure was synthesized and characterized. The diamine was polymerized with several aromatic dianhydrides, including 3,3′,4,4′‐biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride, 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride, 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride, and 4,4′‐hexafluoroisopropylidene diphthalic anhydride, via a high‐temperature one‐step procedure to afford four polyimides (PIs) with inherent viscosities of 0.47–0.70 dL/g. The PIs exhibited excellent solubilities in a variety of organic solvents. They were soluble not only in polar aprotic solvents but in many common solvents, such as cyclopentanone, tetrahydrofuran, and even toluene at room temperature. The tough and flexible PI films cast from the PI solutions exhibited good thermal stabilities and acceptable tensile properties. The glass‐transition temperatures were in the range 312–365°C, and the 5% weight loss temperatures were all higher than 480°C in nitrogen. The films had tensile strengths in the range 76–99 MPa, tensile moduli of 2.2–2.8 GPa, and elongations at break of 5–8%. In addition, the PI films exhibited excellent transparency in the visible light region with cutoff wavelength as low as 302 nm and transmittance higher than 88% at the wavelength of 450 nm. The PI films showed low dielectric constants ranging from 2.50–2.68 and low moisture absorptions of less than 0.56%. The good combined properties of the PIs mainly resulted from the synergic effects of the different substituents. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2009  相似文献

Two new aromatic diamines, 2,2′‐dibromo‐4,4′‐oxydianiline (DB‐ODA 4 ) and 2,2′,6,6′‐tetrabromo‐4,4′‐oxydianiline (TB‐ODA 5 ), have been synthesized by oxidation, bromination, and reduction of 4,4′‐oxydianiline (4,4′‐ODA). Novel polyimides 6a–f and 7a–f were prepared by reacting DB‐ODA ( 4 ) and TB‐ODA ( 5 ) with several dianhydrides by one‐step method, respectively. The inherent viscosities of these polyimides ranged from 0.31 to 0.99 dL/g (0.5 g/dL, in NMP at 30°C). These polyimides showed enhanced solubilities compared to those derived from 4,4′‐oxydianiline and corresponding dianhydrides. Especially, polyimides 7a , derived from rigid PMDA and TB‐ODA ( 5 ) can also be soluble in THF, DMF, DMAc, DMSO, and NMP. These polyimides also exhibited good thermal stability. Their glass transition temperatures measured by thermal mechanical analysis (TMA) ranged from 251 to 328°C. When the same dianhydrides were used, polyimides 7 containing four bromide substituents had higher glass transition temperatures than polyimides 6 containing two bromide substituents. The effects of incorporating more polarizable bromides on the refractive indices of polyimides were also investigated. The average refractive indices (nav) measured at 633 nm were from 1.6088 to 1.7072, and the in‐plane/out‐of‐plane birefringences (Δn) were from 0.0098 to 0.0445. It was found that the refractive indices are slightly higher when polyimides contain more bromides. However, this effect is not very obvious. It might be due to loose chain packing resulted from bromide substituents at the 2,2′ and 2,2′,6,6′ positions of the oxydiphenylene moieties. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report a new method for the preparation of asymmetric diamines using 4,4′‐oxydianiline (4,4′‐ODA) as the starting material. By controlling the equivalents of bromination agent, N‐bromosuccinimide, we were able to attach bromide and phenyl substituents at the 2‐ or 2,2′,6‐positions of 4,4′‐ODA. Thus, four new asymmetric aromatic diamines, 2‐bromo‐4,4′‐oxydianiline (6), 2,2′,6‐tribromo‐4,4′‐oxydianiline (7), 2‐phenyl‐4,4′‐oxydianiline (8) and 2,2′,6‐triphenyl‐4,4′‐oxydianiline (9), were synthesized by this method. Their structural asymmetry was confirmed using 1H NMR spectroscopy. Asymmetric polyimides (PI10–PI13) were prepared from these diamines and three different dianhydrides (pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), 3,3′,4,4′‐biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride and 2,2‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane dianhydride) in refluxing m‐cresol. The formed polyimides, except PI10a derived from 6 and PMDA, were all soluble in m‐cresol without premature precipitation during polymerization. These polyimides with inherent viscosity of 0.41–0.96 dL g?1, measured at a concentration of 0.5 g dL?1 in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone at 30 °C, can form tough and flexible films. Because of the structural asymmetry, they also exhibited enhanced solubility in organic solvents. Especially, polyimides PI11a and PI13a derived from 7 and 9 with rigid PMDA were soluble in various organic solvents at room temperature. The structural asymmetry of the prepared polyimides was also evidenced from 1H NMR spectroscopy. In the 1H NMR spectrum of PI11a, the protons of pyromellitic moiety appeared in an area ratio of 1:2:1 at three different chemical shifts, which were assigned to head‐to‐head, head‐to‐tail and tail‐to‐tail configurations, respectively. These polyimides also exhibited good thermal stability. Their glass transition temperatures ranged from 297 to 344 °C measured using thermal mechanical analysis. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The thermal stability and pyrolysis behaviors of polyimide (PI) foam derived from 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA)/4,4′‐oxydianiline (4,4′‐ODA) in air and in nitrogen were studied. The decomposition products of PI foam were analyzed by thermogravimetry‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (TG‐FTIR). Several integral and differential methods reported in the literatures were used in decomposition kinetics analysis of PI foam. The results indicated that the PI foam was easier to decompose in air than in nitrogen, with ~ 55% residue remaining in nitrogen versus zero in air at 800oC. The main pyrolysis products were CO2, CO, and H2O in air and CO2, CO, H2O, and small organic molecules in nitrogen. The different dynamic methods gave similar results that the apparent activation energies, pre‐exponential factors, and reaction orders were higher in nitrogen than those in air. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three novel polyimides (PIs) having pendent 4‐(quinolin‐8‐yloxy) aniline group were prepared by polycondensation of a new diamine with commercially available tetracarboxylic dianhydrides, such as pyromellitic dianhydride, 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride, and bicyclo[2.2.2]‐oct‐7‐ene‐2,3,5,6‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride. These PIs were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, and elemental analysis; they had high yields with inherent viscosities in the range of 0.4–0.5 dl g−1, and exhibited excellent solubility in many organic solvents such as N,N‐dimethyl acetamide, N,N′‐dimethyl formamide, N‐methyl pyrrolidone (NMP), dimethyl sulfoxide, and pyridine. These PIs exhibited glass transition temperatures (Tg) between 250 and 325° C. Their initial decomposition temperatures (Ti) ranged between 270 and 450°C, and 10% weight loss temperature (T10) up to 500°C with 68% char yield at 600°C under nitrogen atmosphere. Transparent and hard polymer films were obtained via casting from their NMP solutions. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2011  相似文献

A new diacetamido‐diamine monomer, N′‐[7‐(acetyl‐4‐aminoanilino)‐9,9‐dioctylflouren‐2‐yl]‐N′‐4‐aminophenyl) acetamide (ADOAc), with flourene‐based structure was prepared from the reaction of 4‐aminoacetanillide with 2,7‐dibromo‐9,9‐dioctylfluorene in the presence of 10 mol % CuI, 20 mol % N,N′‐dimethylethylene diamine as catalyst and K2CO3 as base. Two new flourene‐ring containing polyimides were prepared from the reaction of ADOAc with aromatic dianhydrides such as pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) via chemical imidization of poly(amic acid). The new diamine and the related polyimides were characterized by using conventional methods such as FT‐IR, NMR, and elemental analysis. The polyimides obtained from the reaction of ADOAc with PMDA (PIa) and of ADOAc with BTDA (PIb) had inherent viscosity of 0.49 and 0.58 dL/g respectively, and showed excellent solubility in a variety of organic solvents. The polyimides of PIa and PIb showed excellent thermal stability with 10% weight loss in nitrogen atmosphere at temperatures of 418°C and 407°C and Tg of 172°C and 167°C, respectively. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of polyimides were prepared from 2,3,2′,3′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride (3,3′‐ODPA) with various aromatic diamines via three different synthetic procedures. The one‐step and two‐step methods with the thermal imidization of poly(amic acids) (PAAs) yielded polyimides with a relatively low inherent viscosity; these produced brittle films. The polyimides prepared by the two‐step method via the chemical imidization of PAA precursors exhibited a higher inherent viscosity and afforded tough and creaseable films. All the 3,3′‐ODPA based polyimides had a significantly higher solubility than the corresponding polyimides from 3,4,3′,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride. The films cast from 3,3′‐ODPA polyimides also showed high optical transparencies and less color, with an ultraviolet–visible absorption edge of 370–397 nm and low yellowness index values of 11.3–29.8. These polyimides exhibited glass‐transition temperatures in the range 211–289°C and showed no significant decomposition below 500°C under nitrogen or air atmospheres. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. New polyimides with enhanced thermal stability and high solubility were synthesized in common organic solvents from a new dianhydride, 2,2′‐dibromo‐4,4′,5,5′‐benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (DBBTDA). DBBTDA was used as monomer to synthesize polyimides by using various aromatic diamines. The polymers were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. These polyimides had good inherent viscosities in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP) and also high solubility and excellent thermo‐oxidative stability, with 5 % weight loss in the range 433 to 597 °C. Four kinds of 3,3′,4,4′-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA)-pyromelliitic dianhydride (PMDA) alternating polyimide (BTDA-PMDA API) were obtained by reacting 1 mol BTDA with 2 mol diamines to form BTDA chain-extended diamines (BTDA CED), followed by the addition of 1 mol PMDA to yield the BTDA-PMDA alternating polyamic acids (BTDA-PMDA APA), and finally by imidizing them thermally. BTDA CED were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared (IR), and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The structures of BTDA-PMDA APA and BTDA-PMDA API were investigated by IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy, and their thermal properties and interfacial tension were also studied. Furthermore, the characteristic properties of BTDA-PMDA API were compared with their corresponding homopolyimides from BTDA (BTDA HPI) and from PMDA (PMDA HPI). It was found that the alternating condensation polymerization is an effective method to modify polyimides interfacial tension with a small influence on the thermal stability. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Two series of melt‐processable polyimides were prepared from 4,4′‐bis(3‐amino‐5‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)biphenyl (m‐6FBAB) and 4,4′‐bis(4‐amino‐5‐trifluoromethylphenoxy) biphenyl (p‐6FBAB) with various aromatic dianhydrides. The effects of the chemical structures of the polyimides on their properties, especially the melt processability and organic solubility, were investigated. The experimental results demonstrate that some of the fluorinated aromatic polyimides showed good melt processability at elevated temperatures (250–360°C) with relatively low melt viscosities and could be melt‐molded to produce strong and tough polyimide sheets. Meanwhile, the polyimides showed excellent organic solubility in both polar aprotic solvents and common solvents to give stable polyimide solutions with high polymer concentrations and relatively low viscosities. Thus, we prepared high‐quality polyimide films by casting the polyimide solutions on glass plates followed by baking at relatively low temperatures. The polyimides derived from m‐6FBAB showed better melt processability and solubility than the p‐6FBAB based polymers. The melt‐processable polyimides showed a good combination of thermal stability and mechanical properties, with decomposition temperatures of 547–597°C, glass‐transition temperatures in the range 205–264°C, tensile strengths of 81.3–104.9 MPa, and elongations at break as high as 19.6%. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel polyimides were synthesized from 1‐[3′,5′‐bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl] pyromellitic dianhydride (6FPPMDA) by a conventional two‐step process: the preparation of poly(amic acid) followed by solution imidization via refluxing in p‐chlorophenol. The diamines used for polyimide synthesis included bis(3‐aminophenyl)‐3,5‐bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl phosphine oxide, bis(3‐aminophenyl)‐4‐trifluoromethylphenyl phosphine oxide, and bis(3‐aminophenyl)phenyl phosphine oxide. The synthesized polyimides were designed to have a molecular weight of 20,000 g/mol by off‐stoichiometry and were characterized by Fourier transform infrared, NMR, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis. In addition, their intrinsic viscosity, solubility, water absorption, and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) were also measured. The adhesion properties of the polyimides were evaluated via a T‐peel test with bare and silane/Cr‐coated Cu foils, and the failure surfaces were investigated with scanning electron microscopy. The 6FPPMDA‐based polyimides exhibited high glass‐transition temperatures (280–299°C), good thermal stability (>530°C in air), low water absorption (1.46–2.16 wt %), and fairly low CTEs (32–40 ppm/°C), in addition to good adhesion properties (83–88 g/mm) with silane/Cr‐coated Cu foils. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The objective of this research was the preparation of polyimides from 1,2‐bis(p‐dimethylaminophenylimino)alkane homologues and various dianhydrides in N‐methylpyrrolidone by one‐stage polycondensation. The monomers were prepared via condensation of p‐dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and the corresponding diamines, 1,4‐diaminobutane, 1,3‐diaminopropane and 1,2‐diaminoethane. The influence of the incorporation of this moiety into the polymer backbone on the properties of the polyimides has been evaluated. The thermogram of the polyimides indicated that PI‐10 to PI‐32 had Tg values ranging from 181 to 290 °C. The inherent viscosities of the polymers ranged from 0.99 to 2.05 dl g?1, and the highest solubility was obtained without significant loss of the thermal properties. 4,4′‐Diamino‐3,3′‐dimethyldiphenylmethane was used to prepare polyimides in an attempt to achieve good organo‐solubility and light color. Polyimides based on this diamine and three conventional aromatic dianhydrides were prepared by solution polycondensation followed by chemical imidization. They possess good solubility in aprotonic polar organic solvents such as N‐methyl 2‐pyrrolidone, N,N‐dimethyl acetamide, and m‐cresol. Polyimide from 4,4′‐diamino‐3,3′‐dimethyldiphenylmethane and diphenylether‐3,3′,4,4′‐tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride is even soluble in common solvents such as tetrahydrofuran and chloroform. Polyimides exhibit high transmittance at wavelengths above 400 nm. The glass transition temperature of polyimide from 4,4′‐diamino‐3,3′‐dimethyldiphenylmethane and pyromellitic dianhydride is 370°C, while that from 4,4′‐diamino‐3,3′‐dimethyldiphenylmethane and diphenylether‐3,3′,4,4′‐tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride is about 260°C. The initial thermal decomposition temperatures of these polyimides are 520–540°C. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 72: 1299–1304, 1999  相似文献

A series of molecular‐weight‐controlled imide resins end‐capped with phenylethynyl groups were prepared through the polycondensation of a mixture of 1,4‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)benzene and 1,3‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)benzene with 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride in the presence of 4‐phenylethynylphthalic anhydride as an end‐capping agent. The effects of the resin chemical structures and molecular weights on their melt processability and thermal properties were systematically investigated. The experimental results demonstrated that the molecular‐weight‐controlled imide resins exhibited not only meltability and melt stability but also low melt viscosity and high fluidability at temperatures lower than 280°C. The molecular‐weight‐controlled imide resins could be thermally cured at 371°C to yield thermoset polyimides by polymer chain extension and crosslinking. The neat thermoset polyimides showed excellent thermal stability, with an initial thermal decomposition temperature of more than 500°C and high glass‐transition temperatures greater than 290°C, and good mechanical properties, with flexural strengths in the range of 140.1–163.6 MPa, flexural moduli of 3.0–3.6 GPa, tensile strengths of 60.7–93.8 MPa, and elongations at break as high as 14.7%. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polycondensation‐type poly(amic acid) (PAA) was synthesized with 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride as a dianhydride monomer and 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylmethane and 4,4′‐oxydianiline as diamine monomers under microwave irradiation in dimethylformamide. Then, PAA was used to make polyimide (PI) by imidization at a low temperature. The structure and performance of the polymers were characterized with Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H‐NMR), viscosity, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetry (TG) curve analyses. The FTIR spectra of the polymers showed characteristic peaks of PI around 1779 and 1717 cm?1. The 1H‐NMR spectrum of PAA indicated a singlet at 6.55 ppm assigned to ? NHCO? and a singlet at 10.27 ppm assigned to carboxylic acid protons. The XRD spectrum demonstrated that the obtained PI had a low‐order aggregation structure with a d‐spacing of 0.5453 nm. The TG results revealed that the PI was thermally stable with 10% weight loss at 565°C in an N2 atmosphere. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 2008  相似文献

A new diacid containing optically active functional groups, N,N′‐(4,4′‐diphthaloyl)‐bis‐L ‐leucine diacid ( 3 ), was synthesized and used in a preparation of a series of poly(amide‐imide)s (PAIs) by direct polycondensation with various aromatic diamines in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP). All polymers derived from diacid ( 3 ) were highly organosoluble in the solvents like N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone, N,N‐dimethylacetamide, N,N‐dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, tetrahydrofuran, γ‐butyrolactone, cyclohexanone, and chloroform at room temperature or upon heating. Inherent viscosities of the PAIs were found to range between 0.34 and 0.61·dL g?1. All the PAIs afforded flexible and tough films. The glass‐transition temperatures of these PAIs were recorded between 212 and 237°C by differential scanning calorimetry, and the 10% weight loss temperatures were ranging from 372 to 393°C and 336–372°C under nitrogen and air, respectively. The polyimide films had a tensile strength in the range of 63–88 MPa and a tensile modulus in the range of 1.2–1.7 GPa. Optically active PAIs exhibited specific rotations in the range of ?10.58° to ?38.70°. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 2007  相似文献

Fluorinated polyimides were prepared from 2,2′,6,6′-tetrafluorobenzidine and four conventional dianhydride monomers by a solution polycondensation reaction followed by a chemical imidization. Polyimide based on 2,2′,6,6′-tetrafluorobenzidine and hexafluoroisopropylidene bis(3,4-phthalic anhydride) (6FDA) is soluble in organic solvents such as NMP, DMA, DMF, THF, chloroform, and acetone while those based on 2,2′,6,6′-tetrafluorobenzidine and pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), benzophenone-3,3′,4,4′-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (BTDA), diphenylether-3,3′,4,4′-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (ETDA) are not.
