The Internet and the Human Right to Food: The European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed

This article examines the way in which the development of information technology has enhanced the protection of the human right to adequate food—in a European context. The European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed enhances the level of protection offered to consumers in the context of an area of resource-intensive delivery of economic and social rights. The discussion explores the convergence of rights development—the European and global move towards a 'precautionary' entitlement to safe food—and the exploitation of technology as an effective means of disseminating crucial information as a way of guaranteeing such a right. In contrast to the sinister tone of much of the discourse relating to information technology and human rights protection, the conclusions of this study sound a more optimistic note for the objectives of the latter.     

The future of PGP on the Internet

The opinion of many truly knowledgeable in the areas of security in general, and Internet security in particular, is that the only true security will come from full encryption. If the messages you send are encrypted, what does it matter if they are intercepted and viewed by unauthorized individuals? If an intruder breaks into your system or network and finds that all files are encrypted, what secretes will leak, what vital information can be altered without user knowledge? If your encryption algorithm is solid, and your encryption keys are both good (i.e. not readily guessed) and secure (i.e. not readily stolen — not written on a post-it note on your VDT, not written on the last page of your desk diary, not kept in a clear text file on your disk or sent in clear text on a LAN, etc.), and if you maintain complete, current and correct backups of all critical files (which you should certainly do, independent of any Internet connectivity), then at worst you may suffer inconveniences as a result of security breaches.

The impact of the Internet on telecommunication architectures

The ever-growing popularity of the Internet is dramatically changing the landscape of the communications marketplace. The two separate worlds of the Internet and Telecommunications are converging. The respective advantages of the two environments are being integrated to fulfill the promise of the information super-highways. In this paper, we examine the impact of the Internet on the main telecommunication architectures, namely the IN, the TMN and TINA. There are two new tendencies for implementing telephony services in combination with the Internet: running part of the control system over the Internet, or conveying both the user data and the control information over the Internet. We examine these two tendencies, and elaborate on possible ways of salvaging the best parts of the work achieved by the TINA-Consortium in the Internet context.

我们正在戈一个提供化学分子检索／匹配功能的因特网上的化学数据库。该库设计为客户／服务模式。在服务端,我们用ＡＳＰ技术建造Ｗｅｂ服务器。在客户端,则使用自行开发的ＡｃｔｉｖｅＸ插件以便能在因特网浏览器上ＩＥ中显示三维分子结构及其有关数据。

新闻可视化是数据新闻很重要的呈现部分,通过将文字、数据转换为简洁的图形、表格、动画等形式来精简呈现新闻要素以及它们之间的直观逻辑关系.以可视化新闻的形式进行新闻发布,可以极大程度的提高数据的利用率以及信息的传播率.随着信息的发展以及多媒介的融合,新闻可视化不仅是新闻业的重点关注目标,也是互联网等业界的关注热点.文章从人工新闻可视化的不同呈现方式和利用计算机辅助新闻可视化两方面分别总结了近年来国内外新闻可视化技术的研究现状.最后分析了目前新闻可视化存在的不足,面临着新闻呈现表象化、信息传送缺乏针对性、计算机辅助智能化欠缺等挑战,这将是今后新闻可视化的研究的主流方向.     

MANET与Internet互联之单向链路克服方法研究

移动自组网(MANET)是由高度自主的移动节点组成的临时性自治系统,当其通过基于双向路由的AODV协议与Internet互联时,单向链路的克服是一大难题.通过改进AODV协议中的HELLO机制,可在维持较低网络整体开销的同时维持较好互联性能.用NS2进行的仿真结果显示,提出的方案切实可行.
