A Transistorized Particle Identifier

The particle identifier described is based on an approximation of Bethe's calculation, which is commonly used in nuclear reaction experiments. The outputs of two logarithmic amplifiers are added together and inverted, in an antilogarithmic circuit, to form the inherent product. The logarithmic amplifiers are operational amplifiers with two parallel, inverted, feedback silicon diodes. The logarithmic inverter, being symmetrical to the amplifiers, provides temperature compensation of the logarithmic elements. The circuit is designed to handle bipolar pulses of 1 ?s width, like those obtained from common double line differentiated amplifiers. Curves showing actual identifier spectra are provided.     

A Transistorized Fail-Safe High-Low Trip

The paper describes a novel transistorized trip circuit which was designed according to A.C. fail safe principles, the circuit trips being on high and low levels, thus indicating off normal input conditions. Both levels are detected by a single regenerative comparator. The output decays within 3 msec after a trip condition, independent of input signal slope or level. The circuit posseses an inherent static trip state lock.

Gas quality test in the proportional counter

The amplitude resolution and the shape of the characteristic curve of the proportional counter were considered as the parameters of the counter gas quality. An experimental curve was obtained showing a dependence of the counting rate vs concentration of the gas impurity. The gas quality was tested by the simple equipment during a few minutes.

Plasma processing for integrated circuits

The steady advance of integrated circuit technology is one of the most remarkable technology trends in this era of technological revolution. For example, the 64-k memory chips of the early 1980s are now being replaced by 4-M and even 16-M chips. This trend is expected to continue with chips at the giga-bit level being available in a decade. The needs for ultraviolet and then X-ray lithography to define the submicron features needed for these larger, denser chips have been widely discussed. However, in parallel, the equipment (referred to as tools in the industry) and related processes to carry out the deposition and etching steps needed to actually produce devices in the tenth-micron range also require significant development. This paper summarizes present and anticipated contributions of magnetic fusion plasma theory and diagnostics and plasma production technology at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) for the development of integrated circuit production technology. The discussion is introduced with a review of past technology evolution and of the present economic context for manufacturing.     

μ子鉴别器电子学系统数据读出插件

在我们所设计的北京谱仪第三代（BESIII）μ子鉴别器电子学系统原型机中,前端电路板（FEC）将采集的阻性板探测器（RPC）信号经由30m长电缆传送到远端的数据读出插件中。该插件实现数据接收、数据压缩、发送控制命令、配置和测试FEC、驱动信号,以及通过USB接口与上位机交互等功能。

研制了一种快速充气式多丝正比计数器测量仪器,可大幅减少工作气体消耗,缩短测量时间。能准确测量α粒子和β粒子,探测效率高、计数率线性好、测量结果稳定。样品测试成本大幅度低于纯流气式多丝正比计数器。
