BACKGROUND: Semiconductor TiO2 has been investigated extensively due to its chemical stability, nontoxicity and inexpensiveness. However, the wide band gap of anatase TiO2 (about 3.2 eV) only allows it to absorb UV light. TiO2 nanoparticles modified by conditional conjugated polymers show excellent photocatalytic activity under visible light. However, these conjugated polymers are not only expensive, but also difficult to process. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was heat‐treated at high temperature to remove HCl and a C?C conjugated chain structure was obtained. When TiO2 nanoparticles were dispersed into the conjugated polymer film derived from PVC, this composites film exhibited high visible light photocatalytic activity. RESULTS: The photocatalytic activity of TiO2/heat‐treated PVC (HTPVC) film was investigated by degrading Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation. The photodegradation of RhB follows apparent first‐order kinetics. The rate constants of RhB photodegradation in the presence of the TiO2/HTPVC films with different mass content of TiO2 are 16–56 and 4–14 times that obtained in the presence of the pure HTPVC and TiO2/polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) composite film, respectively. The TiO2/HTPVC film showed excellent photocatalytic activity and stability after 10 cycles under visible light irradiation. CONCLUSION: TiO2/HTPVC film exhibits high visible light photocatalytic activity and stability. Copyright © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Plasma sprayed Pt/TiO2 coatings were prepared by Atmospheric Plasma Spraying process. As-sprayed coatings were characterized by TEM, XRD and XPS. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated through the photo mineralization of methylene blue. All the Pt modified titanium dioxide coatings show significant absorption in the visible light range, while the pure titania coating reflects almost all the visible light. The photocatalytic efficiencies of as-sprayed pure TiO2 coating and Pt/TiO2 coatings are almost same under the irradiation of visible light. However, the efficiencies of all Pt/TiO2 coating are greatly improved comparing with that of pure TiO2 coating by applying 15 V external bias under the irradiation of visible light.  相似文献

The aim of this research is to enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles for the UV–visible light by multiple-doping with Iridium, carbon and nitrogen. The tridoped TiO2 photocatalyst were prepared by wet chemical method, and characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible light diffuse reflection spectroscopy and room temperature photoluminescence spectroscopy. Besides, the photocatalytic H2 evolution performance of Ir-C-N tridoped TiO2 under UV–visible light irradiation was evaluated. It was found that Ir existed as Ir4+ by substituting Ti in the lattice of TiO2; meanwhile, C and N were also incorporated into the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles in interstitial mode. Meanwhile, Ir-C-N tridoping extended the absorption of TiO2 into the visible light region and narrowed its band gap to ~3.0 eV, resulting in enhanced photocatalytic H2 evolution under UV–visible light irradiation. This could be attributed to narrow band gap and proper electronic structure of TiO2 after Ir-C-N tridoping.  相似文献

Photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable hydrocarbon such as methane (CH4) using water as reducing agent is a good strategy for environment and energy applications. In this study, a facile and simple sol-gel method was employed for the synthesis of metal (Cu and Ag) loaded nanosized N/TiO2 photocatalyst. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, BET Surface area analyzer, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV–vis diffuses reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic conversion of CO2 into methane was carried out under visible light irradiation (λ≥420 nm) by prepared photocatalysts in order to evaluate the photocatalytic efficiency. The results demonstrate that Ag loaded N/TiO2 showed enhanced photocatalytic performance for methane production from CO2 compared to other Cu–N/TiO2, N/TiO2 and TiO2 photocatalysts. The improvement in the photocatalytic activity could be attributed to high specific surface area, extended visible light absorption and suppressed recombination of electron – hole pair due to synergistic effects of silver and nitrogen in the Ag–N/TiO2 photocatalyst. This study demonstrates that Ag–N/TiO2 is a promising photocatalytic material for photocatalytic reduction of CO2 into hydrocarbons under visible light irradiation.  相似文献

Cu2O/TiO2 nano–nano heterostructures with different concentrations of Cu2O were prepared by an alcohol-aqueous based chemical precipitation method, and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and UV–vis diffuse reflection absorption spectra. The photocatalytic efficiency of the Cu2O/TiO2 heterostructures was evaluated by degradation of Acid Orange II in water under UV–vis light and visible light irradiation. The results show that the heterostructures have dramatically improved photocatalytic activity comparing with pure TiO2 (P25). The prepared Cu2O/TiO2 heterostructures with the Cu2O concentrations of 30% and 70% have the best photocatalytic efficiencies, which are 6 times and 27 times higher than that of pure TiO2 (P25) under UV–vis light and visible light irradiation, respectively.  相似文献

To enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO2, V and Zn co-doped TiO2 films were synthesized by the sol–gel method. The experimental results indicated that the films were composed of round-like nano-particles or aggregates. V and Zn codoping could not only obviously increase the specific surface area of TiO2 but also result in the narrowed band gap of TiO2 sample. The photocatalytic activities of the TiO2 films were evaluated by the photocatalytic decomposition of organic dyes in aqueous solution. Compared with un-doped TiO2 film or single doped TiO2 film, V and Zn co-doped TiO2 film exhibited excellent photocatalytic activities under both UV light and visible light. The improvement mechanism by V and Zn codoping was also discussed.  相似文献

Visible light illumination of nitrogen-doped TiO2 brings about the selective oxidation of benzyl and cinnamyl alcohol to the corresponding aldehydes. The photocatalyst was prepared by a sol-gel method and characterised mainly by XRD, UV-vis diffuse reflectance and Raman spectroscopy. The conditions limiting the observation of visible light photoactivity are the use of dry nitriles as nonaqueous solvents and aromatic alcohols as the substrates. No visible light oxidation takes place in an aqueous medium. The efficiency of benzyl and cinnamyl alcohol photo-oxidation in nitrile solvents follows the order: CH3CN > CH3CH2CN > CH3(CH2)2CN. Conversely, since alcohol photo-oxidation occurs with 100% selectivity on electrodes in O2 saturated solutions at potentials close to Efb or under open-circuit conditions, suspensions of the photocatalyst can be advantageously employed. The process involves a relatively weak adsorption of the alcohol substrates which, however, do not readily capture the photogenerated holes. On the basis of the electrochemical and photoluminescence data, it appears that the solvent (e.g. acetonitrile), in addition to O2 has an active role in the reaction mechanism.  相似文献

Sr2TiO4 is a promising photocatalyst for antibiotic degradation in wastewater. The photocatalytic performance of pristine Sr2TiO4 is limited to its wide bandgap, especially under visible light. Doping is an effective strategy to enhance photocatalytic performance. In this work, Nb/N co-doped layered perovskite Sr2TiO4 (Sr2TiO4:N,Nb) with varying percentages (0–5 at%) of Nb were synthesized by sol-gel and calcination. Nb/N co-doping slightly expanded the unit cell of Sr2TiO4. Their photocatalytic performance towards antibiotic (tetracycline) was studied under visible light (λ > 420 nm). When Nb/(Nb + Ti) was 2 at%, Sr2TiO4:N,Nb(2%) shows optimal photocatalytic performance with the 99% degradation after 60 min visible light irradiation, which is higher than pristine Sr2TiO4 (40%). The enhancement in photocatalytic performance is attributed to improving light absorption, and photo-generated charges separation derived from Nb/N co-doping. Sr2TiO4:N,Nb(2%) shows good stability after five cycles photocatalytic degradation reaction. The capture experiments confirm that superoxide radical is the leading active species during the photocatalytic degradation process. Therefore, the Nb/N co-doping in this work could be used as an efficient strategy for perovskite-type semiconductor to realize visible light driving for wastewater treatment.  相似文献

Zr/N co-doped TiO2 nanostructures were successfully synthesized using nanotubular titanic acid (NTA) as precursors by a facile wet chemical route and subsequent calcination. These Zr/N-doped TiO2 nanostructures made by NTA precursors show significantly enhanced visible light absorption and much higher photocatalytic performance than the Zr/N-doped P25 TiO2 nanoparticles. Impacts of Zr/N co-doping on the morphologies, optical properties, and photocatalytic activities of the NTA precursor-based TiO2 were thoroughly investigated. The origin of the enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity is discussed in detail.  相似文献

A visible light active photocatalyst, Ag/TiO2/MWCNT was synthesized by loading of Ag nanoparticles onto TiO2/MWCNT nanocomposite. The photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2/MWCNT ternary nanocomposite was evaluated for the degradation of methylene blue dye under UV and visible light irradiation. Ag/TiO2/MWCNT ternary nanocomposite exhibits (~9 times) higher photocatalytic activity than TiO2/MWCNT and (~2 times) higher than Ag/TiO2 binary nanocomposites under visible light irradiation. The enhancement in the photocatalytic activity is attributed to the synergistic effect between Ag nanoparticles and MWCNT, which enhance the charge separation efficiency by Schottky barrier formation at Ag/TiO2 interface and role of MWCNT as an electron reservoir. Effect of different scavengers on the degradation of methylene blue dye in the presence of catalyst has been investigated to find the role of photogenerated electrons and holes. Simultaneously, the Ag/TiO2/MWCNT shows excellent photocatalytic stability. This work highlights the importance of Ag/TiO2/MWCNT ternary nanocomposite as highly efficient and stable visible-light-driven photocatalyst for the degradation of organic dyes.  相似文献

An unreported nanometer TiO2 photocatalyst doped with upconversion luminescence agent (40CdF2 · 60BaF2 · 0.8Er2O3) utilizing visible light was prepared. Its photocatalytic activity was checked through the photocatalytic degradation of acid red B as a model compound under visible light irradiation. Results show that the upconversion luminescence agent prepared as dopant can effectively turn visible lights to ultraviolet lights, which can be absorbed by nanometer TiO2 particles to produce the electron-cavity pairs. Therefore, the photocatalytic ability of this novel TiO2 photocatalyst has greatly been enhanced compared with undoped and common TiO2 photocatalyst.  相似文献

Silver-modified TiO2 nanorods (SMTN) have been synthesized via controlled hydrolysis of tetrabutyltitanate (TBOT) in ethanol and immersion method by using AgNO3 as an Ag source. The physical and chemical properties of SMTN were studied by XRD, SEM, TEM, and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared products was evaluated by photocatalytic decolorization of Rhodamine B (Rh B) aqueous solution at ambient temperature under visible light irradiation. The experimental results reveal that the TiO2 nanorods, which are well dispersed and uniform, attached large numbers of silver nanoparticles on the surface, and the major crystalline phase of TiO2 is anatase. The photocatalytic activity research shows that the SMTN exhibit an enhanced photocatalytic activity in visible light region compared with that of pure TiO2 nanorods and commercial TiO2 (P25).  相似文献

Pure TiO2 and carbon quantum dots (CQDs)-doped TiO2 nanocomposite (CQDs/TiO2 nanocomposite) were prepared by a sol-gel approach for photocatalytic removal of Rhodamine B and cefradine. Analyses by Transmission electronmicroscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), UV–visible spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) confirmed the successful formation of CQDs/TiO2 heterostructure. The as-prepared TiO2 and CQDs/TiO2 composite possessed small particles, spherical-like shape, and anatase crystal form. Meanwhile, Rhodamine B and cefradine were chosen to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 and CQDs/TiO2 composite. Results revealed that with the facile decoration of CQDs, the absorption of photocatalyst was extended into visible light region and photocatalytic activity was improved in comparison with pure TiO2. Furthermore, the mechanism for the improvement of the photocatalytic performance of the composites was discussed on the basis of the results. CQDs play an important role in the photocatalytic process, due to their superior ability to extend the visible absorption and produce more electrons and electron–hole pairs for the degradation of pollutants. In all, the paper offers further insights into the development of CQDs/TiO2 nanocomposite as photocatalyst for the degradation of antibiotics.  相似文献

Defective TiO2 attracted increasing attention due to its high photocatalytic activities. Herein, we report a facile and efficient method to fabricate gray defective TiO2 by vacuum annealing raw TiO2 materials with copper powders. The treated TiO2 nanoparticles exhibit significantly enhanced visible‐light‐photocatalytic performance with photo‐degradation rate increased to 400% as that of pristine commercial P25 under visible light. The performance enhancements can be attributed to the disordered structure, optimized optical and electronic properties of defective TiO2. In addition, this facile Cu reduction method provides an effective way to generate defective sites in other metal oxides for various potential applications.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide ceramic coatings have been used as catalysts in green technologies for water treatment. However, without the presence of a dopant, its photocatalytic activity is limited to the ultraviolet radiation region. The photocatalytic activity and the structural characteristics of undoped and sulfur-doped TiO2 films grown at 400 °C by metallorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) were studied. The photocatalytic behavior of the films was evaluated by methyl orange dye degradation under visible light. The results suggested the substitution of Ti4+ cations by S6+ ions into TiO2 structure of the doped samples. SO42? groups were observed on the surface. S-TiO2 film exhibited good photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation, and the luminous intensity strongly influences the photocatalytic behavior of the S-TiO2 films. The results supported the idea that the sulfur-doped TiO2 films grown by MOCVD may be promising catalysts for water treatment under sunlight or visible light bulbs.  相似文献

Graphene/carbon composite nanofibers (CCNFs) with attached TiO2 nanoparticles (TiO2–CCNF) were prepared, and their photocatalytic degradation ability under visible light irradiation was assessed. They were characterized using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and ultraviolet–visible diffuse spectroscopy. The results suggest that the presence of graphene embedded in the composite fibers prevents TiO2 particle agglomeration and aids the uniform dispersion of TiO2 on the fibers. In the photodegradation of methylene blue, a significant increase in the reaction rate was observed with TiO2–CCNF materials under visible light. This increase is due to the high migration efficiency of photoinduced electrons and the inhibition of charge–carrier recombination due to the electronic interaction between TiO2 and graphene. The TiO2–CCNF materials could be used for multiple degradation cycles without a decrease in photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

A phase transformation of micron‐sized TiO2 powder from anatase to rutile was attempted by heat‐treatment in order to generate a new mixed crystal TiO2 with high associated photocatalytic activity. Heat‐treated micron‐sized TiO2 powders at different transition stages were characterized by X‐ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) methods. The tests of photocatalytic activity of the heat‐treated micron‐sized TiO2 powders were conducted by the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B and Acid Red B under visible light irradiation. The results indicate that mixed crystal TiO2 photocatalyst heat‐treated at 400 °C for 60 min shows the highest photocatalytic activity. It can effectively decompose the Rhodamine B and Acid Red B in aqueous solution after 6 h visible light irradiation. A remarkable improvement in photocatalytic activity of TiO2 is caused by the formation of combined rutile–anatase phases and separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs. TiO2 nanoparticles modified with 5-(p-hydroxylphenyl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrin (HTPP), 5-(p-hydroxylphenyl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrin zinc (ZnHTPP) and trans-dichloro-5-(p-hydroxylphenyl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrin tin (SnHTPP) were prepared in order to improve the visible photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles. The photocatalytic activity of the modified TiO2 nanoparticles was investigated by carrying out the photodegradation of methyl orange in aqueous solution under visible light irradiation. The TiO2 nanoparticles modified with SnHTPP show the highest visible photocatalytic activity with a degradation ratio of 86% of methyl orange after 180 min irradiation among three catalysts. This result indicates that the central metal ions in porphyrins can significantly influence the sensitization efficiency of porphyrins. In addition, the photoelectrochemical behavior of the modified TiO2 nanoparticles was examined and related to their photocatalytic activity. Finally, the photocatalytic mechanism was discussed preliminarily.  相似文献

FeTiO3/TiO2, a new heterojunction-type photocatalyst working at visible light, was prepared by a simple sol–gel method. Not only did FeTiO3/TiO2 exhibit greatly enhanced photocatalytic activity in decomposing 2-propanol in gas phase and 4-chlorophenol in aqueous solution, but also it induced efficient mineralization of 2-propanol under visible light irradiation (λ ≥ 420 nm). Furthermore, it showed a good photochemical stability in repeated photocatalytic applications. FeTiO3 showed a profound absorption over the entire visible range, and its valence band (VB) position is close to that of TiO2. The unusually high photocatalytic efficiency of the FeTiO3/TiO2 composite was therefore deduced to be caused by hole transfer between the VB of FeTiO3 and TiO2.  相似文献
