Frictional and load‐carrying behaviours of micro‐textured sector shape pad thrust bearing have been explored and reported herein. The textured pad surfaces have been generated employing different cross‐sectional shapes (circular, square, trapezoidal and triangular) of grooves. Based on the thermohydrodynamic lubrication analysis, it is observed that when the adopted texture pattern is placed on the pad towards the entry region, it produces substantial reduction in friction coefficient. The texture involving the square cross‐sectional shape of grooves has yielded substantial reductions in the friction coefficient in comparison with the conventional plain pad. In this work a comparative study has been made between the thermo-hydrodynamic performance of a three shoe tilting-pad journal bearing with rigid and elastic pads subjected to unbalance load. A case study of a bearing adopting three rubber pad segments has also been studied. The distortion of the elastic pad is introduced into the distribution of the film thickness through an iterative scheme to assess its effect on the load carrying capacity of the bearing. A finite element mesh is used to calculate the distortion of the elastic pad while a finite difference mesh is used to calculate the pressure field in the lubricant film. Results have shown a number of interesting conclusions regarding the adoption of rubber pad segments instead of tilting-pads. There is an increase in minimum oil film thickness when using elastic pad or even rubber pad segments compared with rigid pads. Also the maximum pressure and load carrying capacity are not significantly affected.  相似文献

This work reports the thermal analysis of hydrodynamically lubricated cycloidal profiled pad thrust bearing (CPPTB) using an efficient numerical method based on Lobatto quadrature technique. The performance parameters with smooth and rough surfaces of cycloidal and plane profiled pads are presented for various operating inputs. Significant increase in magnitude of pressure and substantial reduction in coefficient of friction are observed in the presence of relatively large amplitude of roughness over the surface of stationary pads. Comparisons are made for performance parameters achieved with plane profiled pad thrust bearing (PPPTB) and CPPTB. The load carrying capacity of CPPTB is found significantly high than the PPPTB for the provided set of operating parameters. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A study was undertaken to compare power loss and pad temperature characteristics between LEG (leading edge groove) tilting pad journal bearings and conventional tilting pad journal bearings with and without a seal tooth. All test bearings were double tilting type with six-pad LOP (Load On Pad), 300.6 mm inner diameter, and 120.0 mm effective length. Pad temperatures and power losses were compared and evaluated versus rotor rotational speed, oil flow rate, and static load. Four kinds of tilting pad journal bearings were evaluated, conventional tilting pad journal bearings with and without a seal tooth and LEG tilting pad journal bearings with and without a seal tooth.Test results indicate that tilting pad journal bearings without a seal tooth have lower power loss and pad temperature than tilting pad journal bearings with a seal tooth. Especially, conventional tilting pad journal bearing without a seal tooth has the lowest power loss and pad temperature among the test bearings.  相似文献

Some experimental studies reported that the performance of tilting pad journal bearing is related with the pad–pivot friction. Only a few researches, however, consider the friction as a factor even though many ones have theoretically analyzed the performance of bearing. Also, there is no mathematical model for the friction to explain the effect of friction on the performance of bearing. Therefore, this study proposes a mathematical model for the pad–pivot friction and analyzes the effect of friction on the tilting pad journal bearing.The results of this analysis show that the friction has a large influence on the attitude angle of the journal. It is found that the eccentricity direction of the journal does not coincide with the load direction when the friction is not zero. According to working conditions, the attitude angle can be up to 25° when friction coefficient is equal to 0.5. It is also found that the tilt angle of the pad is not determined as a fixed value in case of the bearing with non-zero friction, even though working conditions is given for the static analysis. This study represents four different tilt angles under same working conditions.  相似文献

采用成形模具热压法给微米级α-Al2O3冰冻固结磨料抛光垫开槽。设计四因素三水平正交试验,对开槽冰冻固结磨料抛光垫抛光微晶玻璃的工艺进行了研究,与同样试验条件下未开槽冰冻固结磨料抛光垫的抛光效果进行了对比分析。结果表明:开槽情况下的去除率比未开槽情况下的去除率提高40%左右,微晶玻璃表面形貌略有改善但出现划痕现象,主轴转速对材料去除率影响更为显著。

This work describes a theoretical study concerning the static and dynamic performance of a circular thrust pad hydrostatic bearing having recesses of different geometric shapes. The Finite Element Method has been used to compute the performance characteristics of a circular thrust pad hydrostatic bearing with circular, rectangular, elliptical and annular recesses. The performance has been compared on the basis of the same bearing operating and the same geometric parameters, i.e. the same ratio of bearing to pocket area ( ) and the same value of restrictor design parameter . Further, a comparative study of the various bearing configurations has been carried out vis-à-vis different compensating devices such as capillary, orifice, and constant flow valve restrictors so as to study the combined influence of the geometric shape of recesses and the compensating device on bearing performance. The computed results indicate that to get an improved performance from a hydrostatic circular thrust pad bearing, a proper selection of the geometric shape of the recess in conjunction with the type of restrictor and the value of the restrictor design parameter is essential.  相似文献

The oil gap profile in a hydrodynamic thrust bearing exerts a great influence on the bearing properties, and hence the optimisation of the oil gap profile is one method for improving the bearing properties. In the present work, the properties of two hydrodynamic thrust bearings have been experimentally compared under realistic load/ speed conditions. One was a typical tilting‐pad bearing and the other was an unconventional bearing with an elastic thrust plate. The latter was designed using oil gap profile optimisation and design parameter selection. Owing to the design method used, the oil gap profile was close to optimum for the assumed load/speed conditions. The results show a substantial increase in the minimum oil film thickness and lower temperature in the bearing with the elastic thrust plate. This improvement of properties is thought to be because of the optimised oil gap profile in the bearing.  相似文献

高圆簧加橡胶垫这一结构具有较小的横向刚度,能显著改善机车车辆的动力学性能,并且能有效减小高圆簧所受的应力。但是高圆簧加橡胶垫这一结构的参数,会对其横向刚度值以及机车车辆的动力学性能产生很大的影响。通过将理论分析与具体的算例相结合分析了橡胶垫结构参数如橡胶垫硬度、橡胶垫的厚度、橡胶垫内径的大小对高圆簧加橡胶垫这一复合结构横向刚度的影响,在此基础上,还对橡胶垫以不同结构形式与高圆簧配合时高圆簧加橡胶垫的横向刚度进行了分析和对比,从而对高圆簧加橡胶垫这一结构的横向刚度特性进行了系统分析,为理论分析计算以及实际设计和选择应用高圆簧加橡胶垫这一结构提供了参考依据。  相似文献

The fluttering characteristics of the upper unloaded pads in a tilting pad journal bearing were studied experimentally. In order to investigate the fluttering phenomena of the pad, the absolute vibration of the pad, the relative vibration between the bearing and the shaft, and the circumferential film thickness/film pressure were measured with the variation of the supply oil flow rate, the shaft speed, and bearing load. By analyzing the circumferential distributions of the film thickness, it was identified that the film shape of the upper pad continuously alternates between the wedge shape and the diverged shape in the rotational direction while the shaft is rotating. And it was discovered that the pads tend to a representative sub-synchronous self-excited vibration exactly like classical rotor-bearing instability, defined as the oil whirl and oil whip phenomena, with the increase of rotating speed from the cascade plot of the pad. The major finding was that the incipient fluttering velocity of the pad increased with the increase of the supply oil flow rate but decreased with the increase of the bearing load. The experimental results also showed that the fluttering amplitudes of the pad can be effectively suppressed by controlling the supply oil flow rate.  相似文献

Aerostatic flat pad bearings are finding increased applications in high-precision machine tools, high-performance measuring equipment and coordinate measuring machines. To date, much of the development of these bearings has been of an empirical nature since there are no detailed design procedures for assisting designers to optimize their designs1,2. In the field of aerostatic journal bearing design, comprehensive procedures do exist. The object of this paper is to exploit the principles developed for the analysis of aerostatic journal bearings to the area of flat pad bearings, which are more widely used in industrial situations. In this paper, similar analysis tools are developed and are used to obtain design performance data for a number of flat pad bearing configurations. These data include load, flow and stiffness parameters, all of which are fundamental to design optimization.  相似文献

基于ANSYS CFX流固耦合数值计算方法,对水润滑复合材料艉轴承的润滑性能及结构设计开展研究,阐述了不同水槽结构、间隙比、长径比、直径等对轴承承载力以及水膜压力、轴承变形量、最小水膜厚度、轴承摩擦因数的影响规律。并利用水润滑轴承试验台研究了不同水槽结构对轴承启动摩擦转矩、转变速度以及摩擦因数的影响。研究表明,轴承摩擦因数、水膜最大压强、轴承最大变形随水槽数增多而增大;轴承承载力、最小水膜厚度随间隙比增大而减小,随长径比增大而增大。总结了直径为100~500 mm、长径比为2~3、间隙比为0.1%~0.2%的水润滑艉轴承承载力的变化规律,为水润滑艉轴承设计提供一定的理论依据。  相似文献

Some efforts have been undertaken to study the effects of grooved surfaces on the interfacial film thickness and torque between two contacting non-conformal surfaces under heavy loads. Transverse grooves of micrometer scale depth were engraved on polished, flat ring surfaces using established industrial methods like laser engraving and wire cutting. The grooved surfaces were then run against a polished flat surface at loads corresponding to high normal Hertzian pressures. Experiments were conducted to study the effects of the following parameters on the interfacial torque-groove depth, groove wavelength, load, inlet speed and slide-roll ratio. Experimental results were then justified, in certain cases, based on a multigrid model predicting the interfacial pressure and film thickness.  相似文献

为探究瓦块支点偏置对多孔质可倾瓦轴承静态性能的影响,建立多孔质可倾瓦轴承的热混合润滑模型,应用Fluent软件分析轴承静态特性;采用网格迭代算法和瓦块运动UDF对轴承各瓦块沿枢轴运动及摆动进行模拟,研究偏心率、转子转速、供气压力及枢轴支点偏置对轴承负载能力、质量泄漏量、摩擦扭矩和温升的影响。结果表明:增加轴承支点偏置可提高轴承承载力,特别是在高偏心率、高转速、低供气压力条件下,承载力提高更为明显;在偏心率和转速相同时,适当的支点偏置可显著降低轴承对气体的消耗:但支点偏置会增加摩擦力矩,使转子温度升高,应合理选择支点偏置避免温升对轴承的不利影响。研究结果为多孔质可倾瓦轴承的优化设计提供了参考。  相似文献

Tribological behavior of stir-cast Al–Si/SiCp composites against automobile brake pad material was studied using Pin-on-Disc tribo-tester. The Al-metal matrix composite (Al-MMC) material was used as disc, whereas the brake pad material forms the pin. It has been found that both wear rate and friction coefficient vary with both applied normal load and sliding speed. With increase in the applied normal load, the wear rate was observed to increase whereas the friction coefficient decreases. However, both the wear rate and friction coefficients were observed to vary proportionally with the sliding speed. During the wear tests, formation of a tribo-layer was observed, presence of which can affect the wear behavior, apart from acting as a source of wear debris. Tribo-layer formed over the worn disc surfaces was found to be heterogeneous in nature. Morphology and topography of worn surfaces and debris were studied using scanning electron microscope (SEM). Chemical composition of different wear products was obtained using electron probe micro analyzer (EPMA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. Possible wear mechanisms operative in Al-MMC—brake pad tribo-couple have been discussed.  相似文献

The load support and other performance characteristics of any bearing depend on its film thickness profile which can be significantly affected by elastic deformations. The effect of bearing surface deformation on the static performance of slider bearings is reported. Deformation of bearing pads was calculated by three-dimensional elasticity equations using a finite element method.To generalize the study, a non-dimensional deformation coefficient relating the geometrical parameters of bearing pad, the clearance space, the elasticity coefficient of the pad material, the lubricant viscosity and the velocity of the slider is defined. The static characteristics are calculated and compared for different values of the deformation coefficient. The effect of Poisson's ratio v of the pad material on the performance of a slider bearing for steel (v = 0.3) and brass (v = 0.4) as pad materials is reported.  相似文献

建立刚性球头支撑和弹性橡胶垫支撑可倾瓦推力轴承热弹流耦合模型;在弹性橡胶垫支撑可倾瓦推力轴承橡胶垫的弹性变形分析中采用了变形协调矩阵方法,以协调匹配橡胶垫变形和水膜厚度分布,同时在搜索稳态解的过程中引入模拟退火算法;基于变分原理求解Reynolds方程,得到了轴承水膜压力分布,并比较2种推力轴承在转子存在角不对中时的静特性。结果表明:理想工况下,刚、弹支可倾瓦推力轴承稳态特性没有明显区别;当转子存在不对中时,刚性球头支撑可倾瓦轴承在不同瓦块之间受力偏载严重,进而导致瓦面最小水膜厚度过小,瓦块容易出现磨损,而弹性支撑瓦不同瓦块之间水膜力分布更均匀,利于轴承的长期可靠运行。  相似文献

Tilting pad journal bearings have been widely used to support high-pressure/fast rotating turbine rotors owing to their inherent dynamic stability characteristics. However, fatigue damage in the upper unloaded pads and the break of locking pins by pad fluttering continuously take place in actual steam turbines. The purpose of this paper is to develop a bearing model that can prevent bearing problems effectively using pad fluttering in a tilting pad journal bearing. A developed bearing model with a wedged groove is suggested from studies of a fluttering mechanism performed in previous research. The fluttering characteristics of the upper unloaded pad are studied experimentally in order to verify the reliability of the bearing model. It was found that very little pad fluttering nearly occurs in the bearing model under various experimental conditions. In addition, no type of bearing failures by pad fluttering was detected in applications involving actual steam turbines.  相似文献
