Experimental measurements for the axial and radial variations in gas holdup, axial and radial dispersion coefficients, volumetric gas-liquid mass transfer coefficient and liquid phase circulation velocity in a cone of a large diameter (122 cm) jet bubble column are presented. Two diameters of the inlet nozzle, namely 10.16 cm and 15.24 cm, three superficial gas velocities (based on cylinder diameter), 3 cm/sec, 6 cm/sec and 8 cm/sec and two superficial liquid velocities, 0.3 cm/sec and 0.6 cm/sec, are examined. The experimental data are obtained for two different bed heights.

The experimental data showed significant axial and radial variations in the gas holdup. The volumetric average gas holdup was higher at higher gas velocity and larger nozzle diameter and somewhat higher at lower liquid velocity. The axial dispersion was high while the radial dispersion was low. The volumetric gas-liquid mass transfer coefficient was larger at higher gas velocity and larger nozzle diameter. The liquid recirculation begins only at the upper end of the cone. In general, experimental data indicate that a jet bubble column provides a high degree of mixing and transport rates.  相似文献

在 D1 1 5 mm× 1 0 0 0 mm有机玻璃制成的圆柱型流化床中 ,对玉米秆、稻秆、煤及其混合物的流化特性进行了实验研究 .实验结果表明 ,单一生物质颗粒不能形成良好的流化状态 ,而加入一定量煤构成生物质和煤二组分混合颗粒可以实现稳定流化 .当生物质和煤混合颗粒中生物质的质量分率小于 5 0 %时 ,可以达到很好的流化状态 ,生物质和煤二组分混合颗粒的最小流化速度随生物质质量分率的增加而减小 .  相似文献

提出了射流影响区的概念,利用图像处理技术和统计方法得到了射流在射流影响区出现的几率以及射流影响区的范围。研究了流化数、射流初始速度以及颗粒平均粒径对射流影响区的影响。结果表明:射流影响区的范围随流化数、射流初始速度以及颗粒平均粒径的增加而扩大。  相似文献

在φ100mm流化床内,使用活性炭,高密度聚乙烯、石英砂3种B类粒子,测定了当脉冲气流频率在0~7HZ时,变气速流化的床层压降、起始流化速率和空隙率。实验得到了反映变气速流化时起始流化速度降低的u^0mf-up图。通过测定床底的压力波动,得到了反映变气速流化的强制振动作用与脉冲气速、平稳气速的关系的ue-up图。  相似文献

The hydrodynamics and mass transfer in a large diameter bubble column (Dc 0.305 m), specifically, the effects of gas velocity and the presence of solids on the gas holdup structure, gas-liquid interfacial area, and volumetric mass transfer coefficients in viscous as well as low viscosity solutions are studied. The sulfite oxidation technique was employed to measure the gas-liquid interfacial area. Volumetric mass transfer coefficients were measured using a chemical method (sulfite oxidation) as well as physical absorption of oxygen from air, and the overall gas holdups were measured using the hydrostatic head technique. The effect of solids on the gas holdup structure was examined using the dynamic gas disengagement method. With the addition of polystyrene particles, the gas-liquid interfacial area decreased for low viscosity systems, whereas it increased for viscous systems. This was shown to be due to the effect of solids on bubble coalescence. The wettability characteristics of solid surfaces in the presence of different liquids have been suggested as the reason for the effect of solids on coalescence. Oil shale slurries presented a special case because of the mineral dissolution effect.  相似文献

A simple model based on an energy balance which takes into account the friction losses at the gas-liquid interface and the slip velocity of single bubble is used to simulate the gas holdup in bubble columns containing Newtonian and non-Newtonian liquids which circulate in both laminar and turbulent flows. Experimental data available from the literature for bubble columns up to 7 m height and 1 m diameter with water and glycerol as Newtonian liquids and different solutions of CMC in a wide range of concentrations as non-Newtonian liquids are simulated with good agreement despite the simplifications made to describe the gas liquid flow regimes. Most of the differences between experimental and calculated gas holdup are justified on the basis of the simplifying assumptions.  相似文献

The Eulerian-Eulerian approach is used to simulate flow in a dense granular bed subjected to a slight, vertical, sinusoidal vibration. The bottom of the bed was subjected to a vertical vibration, ASin v t)J 0(k m x), where J represents the profile of the bottom wall and is the first kind of Bessel function. The governing equations of the gas phase and particle phase are described and the results of the model with different vibration frequencies and amplitudes are presented. Bubble formation and upward and downward heaping were observed at different amplitudes and frequencies. The results of the model confirm that there is a change from upward to downward heaps according to the strength of the vibration. In addition, the location of the bubble and the shape of the heaping at the interface of the bed depend on the strength of the vibration and the profile of the bottom of the container.  相似文献

The disposal of sludge generated by water treatment plants poses major financial and environmental problems. Drying of the sludge is an essential pan of any disposal process which may include incinerating, landfilling or upgrading. In the present study, experiments were carried out to investigate the drying of sludge in a spouted bed and to characterize the hydrodynamics and mass transfer mechanisms. The effect of bed moisture content on the minimum spouting velocity (Ums) was examined for sludge granules. Ums was found to increase with increasing the moisture content of the sludge particles. The gas phase mass transfer coefficient in the dryer was determined using porous calcined alumina particles and the results were compared with predictions by correlations available in the literature. The existing correlations gave poor predictions for the mass transfer coefficient. A new correlation for the mass transfer coefficient in a spouted bed dryer was developed based on the experimental results.  相似文献

The mass transfer data were obtained using the chemical method of sulfite oxidation, and the gas holdup was measured using the hydrostatic technique. Glass beads and Triton 114 were used to study the effects of solids and liquid surface tension on the gas holdup and the mass transfer parameters a and kL a . The gas holdup in three phase systems was measured for non-wettable (glass bead) and wettable (coal and shale particles) solids.

The mass transfer data obtained in the downflow bubble column were compared with the values published for upflow bubble columns. The results indicate that in the range of superficial gas velocities (0.002-0.025) m/s investigated, the values of the mass transfer coefficient were of the same order of magnitude as those observed in upflow systems, but the values of interfacial area were at least two fold greater. Also, the results showed that the operating variables and the physical properties had different influences on a and kL a in the downflow bubble column. Correlations for a and kL a for the downflow bubble column are proposed which predict the data with adequate accuracy in the range of operating conditions investigated.  相似文献

Drying of the sludge is an essential pan of any disposal process which may include incinerating, landfilling or upgrading. This paper describes the results of an experimental study to evaluate phase holdups and RTD for a jet bubble column. The experimental data were obtained in a 61 cm diameter jet bubble column with a conical inlet. Air and water were used as a two-phase system. The ranges of gas and liquid velocities examined were 0 to 9 cm/sec and 0 to 0·6 cm/sec respectively, both based on the cylinder diameter. The experimental data indicate that in the conical section of the column, the gas holdup first decreases with an increase in distance away from the cone inlet, achieves a minimum and then increases until it reaches a somewhat constant value within the cylinder. Gas holdup varies radially with the maximum at the center and the minimum near the wall. Radially-averaged gas holdup increased with gas velocity and remained essentially unchanged with liquid velocity. The RTD measurements were correlated by a two-dimensional dispersion model. The axial dispersion coefficient increased linearly from the cone inlet to the cylinder. It also increased with the gas velocity. The radial dispersion coefficients were considerably smaller than the axial dispersion coefficients.  相似文献

An experimental study of hydrodynamic parameters of bubble columns with the presence of two immiscible liquid phases, water and kerosene, was performed. The solid used consisted of glass beads with a narrow size distribution. The analysis was based on the determination of global gas holdups and phases distribution along the length of the column in the semibatch mode of operation. The results show thai the presence of two immiscible liquid phases significantly reduces the gas holdup in the bubble column as compared to the results obtained with pure aqueous and organic liquid phases. The distribution of solid phase in a slurry bubble column is drastically affected by the presence of immiscible liquid phases, and exhibits a qualitatively different behavior when compared lo systems with one liquid phase. The addition of small amounts of aqueous phase to a slurry bubble column in which the liquid phase is kerosene results in the sedimentation of the solid. As the amount of aqueous phase added is increased, the solid fluidizes yielding almost flat concentration profiles.  相似文献

Bubble frequency and velocity in a bubbling fluidized bed are estimated by combining advanced estimation theory and the cross correlation function of pressure measurements. The cross correlation function is shown to be a mathematical function of bubble frequency and velocity. Sequential weighted least squares and a version of Kalman filtering are used to compute optimal estimates of these bubble parameters for fluidization in the bubbling/near slugging regime. The dynamics of both algorithms are studied in response to simulated step changes in fluidizing air flow.  相似文献
