Processor (vertex) faults and link (edge) faults may happen when a network is used, and it is meaningful to consider networks (graphs) with faulty processors and/or links. A k-regular Hamiltonian and Hamiltonian connected graph G is optimal fault-tolerant Hamiltonian and Hamiltonian connected if G remains Hamiltonian after removing at most k?2 vertices and/or edges and remains Hamiltonian connected after removing at most k?3 vertices and/or edges. In this paper, we investigate in constructing optimal fault-tolerant Hamiltonian and optimal fault-tolerant Hamiltonian connected graphs. Therefore, some of the generalized hypercubes, twisted-cubes, crossed-cubes, and Möbius cubes are optimal fault-tolerant Hamiltonian and optimal fault-tolerant Hamiltonian connected.  相似文献

Manifold-ranking is a powerful method in semi-supervised learning, and its performance heavily depends on the quality of the constructed graph. In this paper, we propose a novel graph structure named k-regular nearest neighbor (k-RNN) graph as well as its constructing algorithm, and apply the new graph structure in the framework of manifold-ranking based retrieval. We show that the manifold-ranking algorithm based on our proposed graph structure performs better than that of the existing graph structures such as k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) graph and connected graph in image retrieval, 2D data clustering as well as 3D model retrieval. In addition, the automatic sample reweighting and graph updating algorithms are presented for the relevance feedback of our algorithm. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithms.  相似文献

A k-disjoint path cover (k-DPC for short) of a graph is a set of k internally vertex-disjoint paths from given sources to sinks that collectively cover every vertex in the graph. In this paper, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the cube of a connected graph to have a 3-DPC joining a single source to three sinks. We also show that the cube of a connected graph always has a 3-DPC joining arbitrary two vertices.  相似文献

Any pair of non-adjacent vertices forms a non-edge in a graph. Contraction of a non-edge merges two non-adjacent vertices into a single vertex such that the edges incident on the non-adjacent vertices are now incident on the merged vertex. In this paper, we consider simple connected graphs, hence parallel edges are removed after contraction. The minimum number of nodes whose removal disconnects the graph is the connectivity of the graph. We say a graph is k-connected, if its connectivity is k. A non-edge in a k-connected graph is contractible if its contraction does not result in a graph of lower connectivity. Otherwise the non-edge is non-contractible. We focus our study on non-contractible non-edges in 2-connected graphs. We show that cycles are the only 2-connected graphs in which every non-edge is non-contractible.  相似文献

A k-core of a graph is a maximal connected subgraph in which every vertex is connected to at least k vertices in the subgraph. k-core decomposition is often used in large-scale network analysis, such as community detection, protein function prediction, visualization, and solving NP-hard problems on real networks efficiently, like maximal clique finding. In many real-world applications, networks change over time. As a result, it is essential to develop efficient incremental algorithms for dynamic graph data. In this paper, we propose a suite of incremental k-core decomposition algorithms for dynamic graph data. These algorithms locate a small subgraph that is guaranteed to contain the list of vertices whose maximum k-core values have changed and efficiently process this subgraph to update the k-core decomposition. We present incremental algorithms for both insertion and deletion operations, and propose auxiliary vertex state maintenance techniques that can further accelerate these operations. Our results show a significant reduction in runtime compared to non-incremental alternatives. We illustrate the efficiency of our algorithms on different types of real and synthetic graphs, at varying scales. For a graph of 16 million vertices, we observe relative throughputs reaching a million times, relative to the non-incremental algorithms.  相似文献

A k-adjacent vertex distinguishing edge colouring or a k-avd-colouring of a graph G is a proper k-edge colouring of G such that no pair of adjacent vertices meets the same set of colours. The avd-chromatic number, denoted by χ′a(G), is the minimum number of colours needed in an avd-colouring of G. It is proved that for any connected 3-colourable Hamiltonian graph G, we have χ′a(G)≤Δ+3.  相似文献

An n-dimensional hypercube Qn is a Hamiltonian graph; in other words Qn (n≥2) contains a spanning subgraph which is 2-regular and 2-connected. In this paper, we explore yet another strong property of hypercubes. We prove that for any integer k with 3≤kn, Qn (n≥3) contains a spanning subgraph which is k-regular, k-connected and bipancyclic. We also obtain the result that every mesh Pm×Pn (m,n≥2) is bipancyclic, which is used to prove the property above.  相似文献

In this paper, we define a class of graphs which are referred to as (3, 1) graphs. A graph is a member of this class if it has the property that within each set of three vertices, there is at least one edge. We derive a lower bound for the size of a maximum clique in a (3, 1) graph as well as an upper bound for the size of a minimum clique covering. In addition, we show that there exists a linear algorithm for constructing a Hamiltonian circuit in a connected (3, 1) graph and an n4-algorithm for finding a minimum coloring in a (3, 1) graph.  相似文献

In a graph G, a k-container Ck(u,v) is a set of k disjoint paths joining u and v. A k-container Ck(u,v) is k∗-container if every vertex of G is passed by some path in Ck(u,v). A graph G is k∗-connected if there exists a k∗-container between any two vertices. An m-regular graph G is super-connected if G is k∗-connected for any k with 1?k?m. A grid graph \(G_{\mathrm{g}}\) is a finite vertex-induced subgraph of the two-dimensional integer grid \(G^\infty \). A rectangular grid graph R(mn) is a grid graph with horizontal size m and vertical size n. A rectangular grid graph with a rectangular hole is a rectangular grid graph R(mn) such that a rectangular grid subgraph R(kl) is removed from it. The Hamiltonian path problem for general grid graphs is NP-complete. In this paper, we give necessary conditions for the existence of a Hamiltonian path between two given vertices in an odd-sized rectangular grid graph with a rectangular hole. A k-factor of graph G is defined as a k-regular spanning subgraph of G. For instance, a 2-factor of G is a set of cycles that span G. 2-factors have multiple applications in Graph Theory, Computer Graphics, and Computational Geometry. We define a simple 2-factor as a 2-factor without degenerate cycles. In general, simple k-factors are defined as k-regular spanning subgraphs where no edge is used more than once. We establish a refined search tree technique for the parameterized DOMINATING SET problem on planar graphs. Here, we are given an undirected graph and we ask for a set of at most k vertices such that every other vertex has at least one neighbor in this set. We describe algorithms with running times O(8kn) and O(8kk+n3), where n is the number of vertices in the graph, based on bounded search trees. We describe a set of polynomial time data-reduction rules for a more general “annotated” problem on black/white graphs that asks for a set of k vertices (black or white) that dominate all the black vertices. An intricate argument based on the Euler formula then establishes an efficient branching strategy for reduced inputs to this problem. In addition, we give a family examples showing that the bound of the branching theorem is optimal with respect to our reduction rules. Our final search tree algorithm is easy to implement; its analysis, however, is involved.  相似文献

The notion of a boundary graph property was recently introduced as a relaxation of that of a minimal property and was applied to several problems of both algorithmic and combinatorial nature. In the present paper, we first survey recent results related to this notion and then apply it to two algorithmic graph problems: Hamiltonian cycle and vertexk-colorability. In particular, we discover the first two boundary classes for the Hamiltonian cycle problem and prove that for any k>3 there is a continuum of boundary classes for vertexk-colorability.  相似文献

A k -container C(u,v) of a graph G is a set of k disjoint paths between u and v. A k-container C(u,v) of G is a k * -container if it contains all vertices of G. A graph G is k * -connected if there exists a k *-container between any two distinct vertices of G. Therefore, a graph is 1*-connected (respectively, 2*-connected) if and only if it is Hamiltonian connected (respectively, Hamiltonian). A graph G is super spanning connected if there exists a k *-container between any two distinct vertices of G for every k with 1≤kκ(G) where κ(G) is the connectivity of G. A bipartite graph G is k * -laceable if there exists a k *-container between any two vertices from different partite set of G. A bipartite graph G is super spanning laceable if there exists a k *-container between any two vertices from different partite set of G for every k with 1≤kκ(G). In this paper, we prove that the enhanced hypercube Q n,m is super spanning laceable if m is an odd integer and super spanning connected if otherwise.

In this paper we consider the secret sharing problem on special access structures with minimal qualified subsets of size two, i.e. secret sharing on graphs. This means that the participants are the vertices of the graph and the qualified subsets are the subsets of V(G) spanning at least one edge. The information ratio of a graph G is denoted by R(G) and is defined as the ratio of the greatest size of the shares a vertex has to remember and of the size of the secret. Since the determination of the exact information ratio is a non-trivial problem even for small graphs (i.e. for V(G) = 6), every construction can be of particular interest. Let k be the maximal degree in G. In this paper we prove that R(G) = 2 ? 1/k for every graph G with the following properties: (A) every vertex has at most one neighbour of degree one; (B) vertices of degree at least 3 are not connected by an edge; (C) the girth of the graph is at least 6. We prove this by using polyhedral combinatorics arguments and the entropy method.  相似文献

Rahman and Kaykobad proved the following theorem on Hamiltonian paths in graphs. Let G be a connected graph with n vertices. If d(u)+d(v)+δ(u,v)?n+1 for each pair of distinct non-adjacent vertices u and v in G, where δ(u,v) is the length of a shortest path between u and v in G, then G has a Hamiltonian path. It is shown that except for two families of graphs a graph is Hamiltonian if it satisfies the condition in Rahman and Kaykobad's theorem. The result obtained in this note is also an answer for a question posed by Rahman and Kaykobad.  相似文献

We study the problem of graph summarization. Given a large graph we aim at producing a concise lossy representation (a summary) that can be stored in main memory and used to approximately answer queries about the original graph much faster than by using the exact representation. In this work we study a very natural type of summary: the original set of vertices is partitioned into a small number of supernodes connected by superedges to form a complete weighted graph. The superedge weights are the edge densities between vertices in the corresponding supernodes. To quantify the dissimilarity between the original graph and a summary, we adopt the reconstruction error and the cut-norm error. By exposing a connection between graph summarization and geometric clustering problems (i.e., k-means and k-median), we develop the first polynomial-time approximation algorithms to compute the best possible summary of a certain size under both measures. We discuss how to use our summaries to store a (lossy or lossless) compressed graph representation and to approximately answer a large class of queries about the original graph, including adjacency, degree, eigenvector centrality, and triangle and subgraph counting. Using the summary to answer queries is very efficient as the running time to compute the answer depends on the number of supernodes in the summary, rather than the number of nodes in the original graph.  相似文献

We introduce the NP-hard graph-based data clustering problem s-Plex Cluster Vertex Deletion, where the task is to delete at most?k vertices from a graph so that the connected components of the resulting graph are s-plexes. In an s-plex, every vertex has an edge to all but at most s?1?other vertices; cliques are 1-plexes. We propose a new method based on “approximation and tidying” for kernelizing vertex deletion problems whose goal graphs can be characterized by forbidden induced subgraphs. The method exploits polynomial-time approximation results and thus provides a useful link between approximation and kernelization. Employing “approximation and tidying”, we develop data reduction rules that, in?O(ksn 2) time, transform an s-Plex Cluster Vertex Deletion instance with n vertices into an equivalent instance with O(k 2 s 3)?vertices, yielding a problem kernel. To this end, we also show how to exploit structural properties of the specific problem in order to significantly improve the running time of the proposed kernelization method.  相似文献
