The transmission characteristics of the mode TE11 for a new type of closed trapezoidal-groove guide with arbitrary inclined angle are analysed in detail with the mode-matching method in this paper. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental values in the published reference. The dispersion of the closed trapezoidal-groove guide is very low. The relationships of the cut-off wavelength and the attenuation constant with the structural sizes of the closed trapezoidal-groove waveguide are also obtained. The given results have very important value in study, design, manufacture and application for closed trapezoidal-groove waveguide.  相似文献

The arbitrarily open trapezoidal-groove guide is analyzed with the conformal mapping technique. A new formula is given for the evaluation of one fundamental parameter associated with the technique. The relationship between the cut-off wavelength for the dominant mode and the geometry of the guide structure is studied; dispersion characteristic of the groove guide is also given. Some numerical results are shown to be in good agreement with both experimental data and the results of the finite element method (FEM). Moreover, it is testified that dispersion of the trapezoidal-groove guide is low. The obtained results are significant for the design and application of the open trapezoidal-groove guide for millimeter waves.  相似文献

In this paper, the propagation properties such as the dispersion characteristics, cut-off wavelength, guide wavelength and field distribution for the main mode of trapezoidal-groove guide are analysed by using the finite element method. The dispersion is very low, and the field distribution in a trapezoidal-groove guide is similar to that of rectangular one. An advantage of closed groove guide over open groove guide is attended. In this paper, the several kinds of closed groove guides including the trapezoidal-, elliptic- and parabolic-groove guides as new types of millimeter wave transmission lines are presented. Their dispersion and cut-off characteristics of the dominant mode are analysed and compared with ones of the closed V-and circular- groove guides by using the equivalent network method. Renewed interest regarding the exploitation of dielectric loaded waveguides in high gradient accelerator structures requires a closed form field formulation as cut-off frequencies and optimisation are problematic for numerical methods. In this paper we will present efficient closed form solution for generic slab loaded waveguide boundary value problems. This solution offers flexibility in a sense that it can be further exploited to derive a Green’s function linking transverse field expressions for planar structures. The developed solution is demonstrated for a twin slab E-plane slab loaded structure coupled to a Point source emitter assembly. The emission characteristics of the point source emitter assembly are optimized to generate a high intensity and focused beam to be fed to this E-plane slab loaded waveguide structure for beam acceleration. The field analysis, mode nomenclature, modal hierarchy, modal bandwidth, cut-off plane, impedance plane and dispersion relations for this accelerating structure is included for sake the of completeness.  相似文献

本文运用变量变换伽辽金法对具有梯形截面脊形光波导的本征模式特性作了分析,这种方法将电磁场开域问题变换成一个有界区域的问题,从而避免了边界截断,又由于这 方法所导致的矩阵阶数也不大,所以要求计算机内存和计算时间均较少。这种广阔坷以应用于梯形斜边任意坡度角的情况。数值计算结果与已发表的实验结果吻合较好。所给出的模场分布以及结构参数对波导传输特性影响的许多结果可用于光波导的设计和研制。  相似文献

A rib optical waveguide using the concept of optical cutoff to provide isolation between adjacent waveguides in a photonic integrated circuit is disclosed. Due to the evanescent nature of light propagation in cutoff waveguides, this cutoff mesa rib waveguide permits fabrication of single-moded rib waveguides with minimal self-interference and crosstalk by means of light guided in a remaining slab waveguide. 对当前硅光集成的研究焦点-制备大断面单模脊形光波导的单模条件,用有效折射率法进行分析,也计算了传播常数等性能参数。结果表明,有效折射率法有方法简明、结论确切的优点。它能同时给出单模区、多模区及截止区的条件,已有效指导了SIMOX及n/n+外延型两种单模脊形硅光波导的制备。文中最后给出了实验结果。  相似文献

Results on normalized phase constant, cut-off frequency, and attenuation constant under cut-off, are presented for lower-order longitudinal section modes. Dielectric waveguides suitable for millimeter and submillimeter wave integrated circuits are analyzed by applying the generalized telegraphist's equations. The dielectric waveguides treated in this paper are the rectangular dielectric image line, the cladded rectangular dielectric image line, the insulated image guide, and the strip dielectric guide. Numerical results of the propagation constant, the power distribution, and the field configuration in these dielectric waveguides are presented. Values for the propagation constants obtained by our method are compared with other theoretical results. Although this work is based on a closed waveguide model, it may be applicable to wide classes of dielectric waveguides with arbitrary dielectric profiles and cross sections.  相似文献

We discuss the effects of waveguide geometry on the radiation loss of tightly curved multimode dielectric waveguides. Three waveguide geometries are investigated: a ridge waveguide, a buried waveguide, and an interdiffused waveguide. We compare the effective index method with both semi- and full-vectorial method-of-lines analyses for these waveguide geometries. This comparison shows that the effective index method is accurate for curved waveguides except where the outer confinement region is in cut-off or, in the case of TM-polarization, for the ridge waveguide. In the latter case, the full-vectorial method-of-lines predicts a resonant feature of the TM-mode radiation loss of curved ridge waveguides; this is not predicted by either the semivectorial method-of-lines or the effective index method  相似文献

A three-component vector finite-element formulation for modeling the propagation characteristics of partially filled, axially magnetized, gyromagnetic waveguides is described. Covariant-projection elements have been used to avoid spurious modes, and periodic boundary conditions have been implemented to improve numerical efficiency. The classic quadratic functional derived from the vector, curlcurl, magnetic field equation is suited to evaluating the cut-off planes of gyrotropic waveguides. A known field transformation is used to reformulate the functional in a form convenient for calculating phase constants. Layered waveguides with lossless anisotropic layers in the polar configuration are analyzed through the unifying concept of a real self-adjoint operator. For a suitable definition of two-vector transverse eigenfunctions, general properties such as orthogonality and completeness relations are derived. The linear operator formalism is applied to closed waveguides inhomogeneously filled with anisotropic materials, including crystals and gyrotropic media. As an extension of the former theory to open waveguides, a grounded uniaxial dielectric slab with a coplanar optic axis is also analyzed: as for open isotropic waveguides, a complete spectral representation including the surface (proper eigenfunctions) and the pseudosurface modes (improper eigenfunctions) is presented  相似文献

本文给出一种求解非均匀填充波导截止频率的新方法,称为网络模型分解法。文中首先利用区域剖分和电磁场的微分形式理论建立了该问题的拓扑填型及其相应的网络模型,然后利用电路理论中的网络分解节点分析法建立了计算非均匀填充波导截止频率的一般算法。最后将该算法应用于若干典型实例,验证了方法的可行性和有效性。  相似文献
