The amount of non-technical losses in Brazil is quite elevated, accounting for nearly 5.5% of the country's total generated power. Such losses are asymmetrically distributed within the various regions of the country. Meter tampering (fraud), meter bypassing by regular consumers (theft) and irregular hookups to the network by unlawful consumers are the most predominant forms of irregularities. Part of it which is caused by non-technical losses is being passed on to the consumers through the tariffs they pay. This paper presents an overview of the current situation related to non-technical losses in Brazil involving: quantification, regional asymmetry, nature and stratification, tariff management, and strategies employed to its reduction. Advanced measurement techniques provided by smart-grids can significantly reduce them. It is suggested a potential reduction of 60%. An innovative way of using these indicators in order to identify irregularities is briefly presented in this work.  相似文献

This paper summarizes the results of the authors' 4 year experimental studies on the secondary flow losses in turbine cascades. Cascade wind tunnel experiments were carried out concerning the influence of aspect ratios, incidence, turning angles and outer endwall divergent angles in order to unveil the evolution mechanism of secondary flow losses in turbine cascades without end clearance. Some methods for controlling the secondary flows are investigated including the blade leaning, blade cambering, endwall convergence and leading edge extension at two ends of the blade.  相似文献

Performance evaluation of heat transfer devices can be based on the overall entropy production in these devices. In our study we therefore provide equations for the systematic and detailed determination of local entropy production due to dissipation of mechanical energy and due to heat conduction, both in turbulent flows. After turbulence modeling has been incorporated for the fluctuating parts the overall entropy production can be determined by integration with respect to the whole flow domain. Since, however, entropy production rates show very steep gradients close to the wall, numerical solutions are far more effective with wall functions for the entropy production terms. These wall functions are mandatory when high Reynolds number turbulence models are used. For turbulent flow in a pipe with an inserted twisted tape as heat transfer promoter it is shown that based on the overall entropy production rate a clear statement from a thermodynamic point of view is possible. For a certain range of twist strength there is a decrease in overall entropy production compared to the case without insert. Also, the optimum twist strength can be determined. This information is unavailable when only pressure drop and heat transfer data are given.  相似文献

Since the amount of decentralised power generation is increasing, it is important to develop an energy management system for low-voltage grids. This paper presents a method to operate such a management system. The system is designed for managing a group of smart houses which can consume or supply electrical energy. The aims are to reduce the transmission losses and to stay within the permitted limits of both the voltage drop and the utilisation of lines and transformers. The reduction of the losses is implemented in the LOMA (loss-optimising-management-algorithm). This algorithm tries to find the power flow situation where minimal losses occur. The results of LOMA, the current power situation (in the low- and medium-voltage system) and the maximum power situation (based on grid parameters) are summarised in an individual incentive signal for every smart home, The simulations show the feasibility of such an energy management and a significant loss reduction.  相似文献

The present paper reports the results of an experimental investigation aimed at comparing aerodynamic perform- ance of three low-pressure turbine cascades for several Reynolds numbers under steady and unsteady inflows. This study is focused on finding design criteria useful to reduce both profile and secondary losses in the aero-engine LP turbine for the different flight conditions. The baseline blade cascade, characterized by a standard aerodynamic loading (Zw=1.03), has been compared with two Ultra-High-Lift profiles with the same Zweifel number (Zw=1.3 for both cascades), but different velocity peak positions, leading to front and mid-loaded blade cascade configurations. The aerodynamic flow fields downstream of the cascades have been experimentally in- vestigated for Reynolds numbers in the range 70000〈Re〈300000, where lower and upper limits are typical of cruise and take-off/landing conditions, respectively. The effects induced by the incoming wakes at the reduced frequency ./+=0.62 on both profile and secondary flow losses for the three different cascade designs have been studied. Total pressure and velocity distributions have been measured by means of a miniaturized 5-hole probe in a tangential plane downstream of the cascade for both inflow conditions. The analysis of the results allows the evaluation of the aerodynamic performance of the blade cascades in terms of profile and secondary losses and the understanding of the effects of loading distribution and Zweifel number on secondary flows. When operating un- der unsteady inflow, contrarily to the steady case, the mid-loaded cascade has been found to be characterized by the lowest profile and secondary losses, making it the most attractive solution for the design of blades working in real conditions where unsteady inflow effects are present.  相似文献

The pressing demand for future advanced gas turbine requires to identify the losses in a turbine and to understand the physical mechanisms producing them. In low pressure turbines with shrouded blades, a large portion of these losses is generated by tip shroud leakage flow and associated interaction. For this reason, shroud leakage losses are generally grouped into the losses of leakage flow itself and the losses caused by the interaction between leak- age flow and mainstream. In order to evaluate the influence of shroud leakage flow and related losses on turbine performance, computational investigations for a 2-stage low pressure turbine is presented and discussed in this paper. Three dimensional steady multistage calculations using mixing plane approach were performed including detailed tip shroud geometry. Results showed that turbines with shrouded blades have an obvious advantage over unshrouded ones in terms of aerodynamic performance. A loss mechanism breakdown analysis demonstrated that the leakage loss is the main contributor in the first stage while mixing loss dominates in the second stage. Due to the blade-to-blade pressure gradient, both inlet and exit cavity present non-uniform leakage injection and extrac- tion. The flow in the exit cavity is filled with cavity vortex, leakage jet attached to the cavity wall and recircula- tion zone induced by main flow ingestion. Furthermore, radial gap and exit cavity size of tip shroud have a major effect on the yaw angle near the tip region in the main flow. Therefore, a full calculation of shroud leakage flow is necessary in turbine performance analysis and the shroud geometric features need to be considered during turbine design process.  相似文献

The automated energy generating complex allows obtaining heat energy from waste coal-water slurry fuel (WCF) that is a mixture of fine coal particles from coal enrichment wastes with water. The mixture is blown into the swirl chamber under the pressure through the special sprayers. The received heat energy is used in different ways. One of the important issues is to estimate the heat losses through the walls of this chamber. In this paper we solved the boundary problem of mathematical physics to estimate the temperature fields in the walls of the swirl chamber. The obtained solution allows us to estimate the heat losses through the walls of the swirl chamber. The task of the mathematical physics has been solved by a numerical finite-difference method. The method for solving this problem can be used in the calculation of temperature fields and evaluation of heat losses in other thermal power units.  相似文献

In a classical layout process of a fan the quantity of losses is estimated as a sum and expressed in the overall efficiency rate η. However the characteristic of the pressure rise, the losses and the efficiency rate beside the design point is not known. Against this background a numerical model was developed to calculate quantitative values of occurring losses at radial fan impellers at an early stage in the design process. It allows to estimate the pressure rise and efficiency rate of a given fan geometry at and beside the design point. The physics of losses are described in literature, but obtaining quantitative values is still a challenge. As common in hydraulic theory the losses are calculated with analytic formulas supported by coefficients and efficiency rates, which have to be determined empirically. This paper shows the method how to determine the coefficients for a given radial fan. Therefore a representative radial fan with backward curved blades was designed in reference to classical design guidelines. Performance measuring was done conform to ISO 5801. The flow was calculated at 8 different operation points using CFD methods. The RANS equations are solved by using the SST-k-omega turbulence model. The flow domain consists of one blade section including inlet channel and outflow chamber. Spatial discretization is done by a block-structured mesh of approx. 1.8 million cells. Performance data show a very good agreement between measurement and calculation.  相似文献

Heat transfer in passage with pin-fin arrays for cooling blade trailing edge was studied numerically. Three-dimensional numerical simulations were carried out for steady laminar flow in passages with different wedge angles between pressure surface and suction surface of cooling blade trailing edge to study the effect of different wedge angles (from 0°to 30°) on heat transfer and pressure losses. Research was carried out for both in-line array and staggered array. From this investigation, wedge angle 10°gives the best heat transfer performance.  相似文献

Transformers are normally designed and built for use at rated frequency and sinusoidal load current. A non-linear load on a transformer leads to harmonic power losses which cause increased operational costs and additional heating in transformer parts. It leads to higher losses, early fatigue of insulation, premature failure and reduction of the useful life of the transformer. To prevent these problems, the rated capacity of transformer which supplies harmonic loads must be reduced. In this work, a typical 50 kVA three-phase distribution transformer with real practical parameters is taken under non-linear loads generated due to domestic loads. The core losses is evaluated using the three dimensional model of the transformer developed in FEM (finite element method) program based on valid model of transformer under high harmonic conditions. And finally a relation associated with core losses and amplitude of high harmonic order are reviewed & analyzed and then a comparison is being carried out on the results obtained by different excitation current in transformer windings.  相似文献

Generally speaking, main flow path of gas turbine is assumed to be perfect for standard 3D computation. But in real engine, the turbine annulus geometry is not completely smooth for the presence of the shroud and associated cavity near the end wall.Besides, shroud leakage flow is one of the dominant sources of secondary flow in turbomachinery, which not only causes a deterioration of useful work but also a penalty on turbine efficiency. It has been found that neglect shroud leakage flow makes the computed velocity profiles and loss distribution significantly different to those measured.Even so,the influence of shroud leakage flow is seldom taken into consideration during the routine of turbine design due to insufficient understanding of its impact on end wall flows and turbine performance. In order to evaluate the impact of tip shroud geometry on turbine performance,a 3D computational investigation for 1.5-stage turbine with shrouded blades was performed in this paper. The following geometry parameters were varied respectively:-Inlet cavity length and exit cavity length,-Shroud overhang upstream of the rotor leading edge and downstream of the trailing edge,-Shroud radial tip clearance,The aim of this paper is to isolate the influence of shroud and cavity geometry modifications on turbine aerodynamic performance and to obtain clear trends of efficiency changes caused by different tip shroud geometry. Moreover, interaction between leakage flow and mainstream for different shroud configuration is also highlighted in order to penetrate into the physical mechanisms producing them.Due to the limitations of the model selected in this paper, the aim of research is not to put forward the design rules of turbine shroud. However, the results obtained from this work will be useful to the integrated design and optimization of turbine with shrouded blades.

This paper depicts numerical analysis on Impulse turbine with fixed guide vanes for wave energy conversion. From the previous investigations, it is found that one of the reasons for the mismatch between computed and experimental data is due to neglecting tip clearance ef fect. Hence, a 3-D model with tip clearance has been generated to predict the internal flow and performance of the turbine. As a result, it is found that the comparison between computed and experimental data is good, quantitatively and qualitatively. Computation has been carried out for various tip clearances to understand the physics of tip leakage flow and effect of tip clearance on performance of such unconventional turbine. It is predicted that the turbine with 0.25% tip clearance performs almost similar to the case of without tip clearance for the entire flow coefficients. The designed value of 1% tip clearance has been validated numerically and computed that the efficiency of the turbine has been reduced around 4%, due to tip clearance flow at higher flow coefficients.  相似文献

This paper describes the numerical investigations of flow and heat transfer in an unshrouded turbine rotor blade of a heavy duty gas turbine with four tip configurations. By comparing the calculated contours of heat transfer coefficients on the flat tip of the HP turbine rotor blade in the GE-E3 aircraft engine with the corresponding experimental data, the κ-ω turbulence model was chosen for the present numerical simulations. The inlet and outlet boundary conditions for the turbine rotor blade are specified as the real gas turbine, which were obtained from the 3D full stage simulations. The rotor blade and the hub endwall are rotary and the casing is stationary. The influences of tip configurations on the tip leakage flow and blade tip heat transfer were discussed. It’s showed that the different tip configurations changed the leakage flow patterns and the pressure distributions on the suction surface near the blade tip. Compared with the flat tip, the total pressure loss caused by the leakage flow was decreased for the full squealer tip and pressure side squealer tip, while increased for the suction side squealer tip. The suction side squealer tip results in the lowest averaged heat transfer coefficient on the blade tip compared to the other tip configurations.  相似文献

This paper deals with the detailed flow analysis of impulse turbine with experimental and computed results for wave energy power conversion. Initially, several turbulence models have been used in two-dimensional (2-D) computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analysis to find a suitable model for this kind of slow speed unconventional turbine. Experiments have been conducted to validate the CFD results and also to analyze the aerodynamics at various stations of the turbine. The three-dimensional (3-D) CFD model with tip clearance has been generated to predict the internal flow and to understand the effect of tip clearance leakage flow on behavior of the turbine in design and off-design conditions. As a result, it is found from the 2-D results that the comparison between computed and experimental data is good, qualitatively and the turbulence model, standard kε can predict the experimental values reasonably well, especially the efficiency of the turbine. Experimental results reveal that the downstream guide vanes are more responsible for low efficiency of the turbine and it is measured that 21% average pressure is lost due to downstream guide vanes. It is proved from the 3-D CFD model with tip clearance that it can predict the experimental values quantitatively and qualitatively. Furthermore, it is estimated from the computed results that the efficiency of the turbine has been reduced about 4%, due to tip clearance leakage flow at higher flow coefficients.  相似文献

A numerical investigation on over-shroud & inter-shroud leakage flow has been carried out to explore the underneath flow physics at the stage of shrouded Low Pressure(LP) turbine.Compared with the No inter-Shroud gap’s Leakage flow Model(NSLM) and With inter-Shroud gap’s Leakage flow Model(WSLM),the aerodynamic characteristics and the heat transfer performance have been studied.Through the aerodynamic point of view,it is concluded that due to the pressure difference between the rotor’s passage and the over-shroud cavity,in the stream-wise direction, flow structure has been modified, and the inter-shroud leakage flow may even cause flow separation in the vicinity of the blade passage’s throat. In the circumferential direction, separation flows appear over the rotor’s shroud surface(upper platform of the shroud).Meanwhile, from the point of view of heat transfer, further provision on contour maps of the non-dimensional Nusselt number reveals that the reattachment of leakage flow would enhance the heat transfer rates and endanger the rotor’s labyrinth fins over the shroud. However, due to the limited amount of inter-shroud leakage flow(current computational model),temperature distribution variation along the blade surface(near the rotor’s tip section) seems to have only minor insignificant differences. At the end of the paper, the author puts forward some recommendations for the purpose of future successful turbine design.  相似文献
