We consider the control policy of an M/G/1 queueing system with a startup and unreliable server, in which the length of the vacation period is controlled either by the number of arrivals during the idle period, or by a timer. After all the customers have been served in the queue, the server immediately takes a vacation and operates an NT vacation policy: the server reactivates as soon as the number of arrivals in the queue reaches a predetermined threshold N or when the waiting time of the leading customer reaches T units. In such a variant vacation system, the steady-state probabilities cannot be obtained explicitly. Thus, the maximum entropy principle is used to derive the approximate formulas for the steady-state probability distributions of the queue length. A comparitive analysis of two approximation approaches, using the first and the second moments of system size, is studied. Both solutions are compared with the exact results under several service time distributions with specific parameter values. Our numerical investigations demonstrate that the use of the second moment of system size for the available information is, in general, sufficient to obtain more accurate estimations than that of the first moment.  相似文献

Global Sensitivity Analysis (GSA) is an essential technique to support the calibration of environmental models by identifying the influential parameters (screening) and ranking them.In this paper, the widely-used variance-based method (Sobol') and the recently proposed moment-independent PAWN method for GSA are applied to the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), and compared in terms of ranking and screening results of 26 SWAT parameters. In order to set a threshold for parameter screening, we propose the use of a “dummy parameter”, which has no influence on the model output. The sensitivity index of the dummy parameter is calculated from sampled data, without changing the model equations. We find that Sobol' and PAWN identify the same 12 influential parameters but rank them differently, and discuss how this result may be related to the limitations of the Sobol' method when the output distribution is asymmetric.  相似文献

The extended version with the analysis of dynamic system for Wilkinson's iteration improvement of solution is presented in this paper. It turns out that the iteration improvement can be viewed as applying explicit Euler method with step size h=1 to a dynamic system which has a unique globally asymptotically stable equilibrium point, that is, the solution x*=A ?1 b of linear system Ax=b with non-singular matrix A. As a result, an extended iterative improvement process for solving ill-conditioned linear system of algebraic equations with non-singular coefficients matrix is proposed by following the solution curve of a linear system of ordinary differential equations. We prove the unconditional convergence and derive the roundoff results for the extended iterative refinement process. Several numerical experiments are given to show the effectiveness and competition of the extended iteration refinement in comparison with Wilkinson's.  相似文献
