Syngas production from the dry reforming of methane is now the most extensively utilized method for removing massive amounts of greenhouse emissions. Effective solutions towards the utilization of greenhouse gases such as CO2 and CH4 are scarce, except for power generation in the energy sector, which is a major source of CO2. Herein, dry reforming of methane was experimented for the first time using an effective catalytic system composed of 5% Ni fibrous silica-alumina (FSA) that was successfully fabricated using a hydrothermal method. The characterization results from XRD, FESEM mapping, TEM, BET,XRF, FTIR, H2-TPR, TGA/DTA, and Raman spectra demonstrated that Ni/FSA is composed of orderly Ni dispersion, small particles of Ni, robust basic sites, and high oxygen vacancies which enhanced the catalytic efficiency. The synthesized Ni/FSA also reduced coke formation and had long-term stability with no evidence of inactivation during and after the catalytic cycles. The superior activity of Ni/FSA was manifested in the high conversion rates of CH4 and CO2 at 97% and 92% respectively, with a H2:CO ratio of ≈ 1. The stability of Ni/FSA was also sustained over 30 h of operation at 800 °C. The findings of the Raman, TEM, and TGA/DTA tests revealed that the spent Ni/FSA catalysts did not exhibit graphitic carbon or metal sintering in significant amounts when compared to commercial Ni–Si/Al catalysts.  相似文献

The aim of the present study is to demonstrate the production of hydrogen-rich fuel gas from J. curcas residue cake. A comprehensive experimental study for the production of hydrogen rich fuel gas from J. curcas residue cake via downdraft gasification followed by high temperature water gas shift catalytic treatment has been carried out. The gasification experiments are performed at different equivalence ratios and performance of the process is reported in terms of producer gas composition & its calorific value, gas production rate and cold gas efficiency. The producer gas is cleaned of tar and particulate matters by passing it through venturi scrubber followed by sand bed filter. The clean producer gas is then compressed at 0.6 MPa and bottled into a gas cylinder. The bottled producer gas and a simulated mixture of producer gas are then subjected to high temperature shift (HTS) catalytic treatment for hydrogen enriched gas production. The effect of three different operating parameters GHSV, steam to CO ratio and reactor temperature on the product gas composition and CO conversion is reported. From the experimental study it is found that, the presence of oxygen in the bottled producer gas has affected the catalyst activity. Moreover, higher concentration of oxygen concentration in the bottled producer gas leads to the instantaneous deactivation of the HTS catalyst.  相似文献

Ni/red mud (RM) catalysts were prepared by wet impregnation and used in the catalytic steam gasification of bamboo sawdust (BS) to produce hydrogen-rich syngas. The system was optimized in terms of the amount of added nickel (10%), reaction temperature (800 °C), and catalyst placement (separately behind the BS). The maximum H2 yield was 17.3% higher than that using pure RM catalyst and 43.8% higher than that of BS gasification alone, and the H2/CO ratio in the syngas reached 7.82. This Ni/RM catalyst also retained good activity after six cycles in a double-stage fixed bed reactor. Analysis using X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, and other methods revealed that the interaction of Ni, Fe, and Mg in Ni/RM produced bimetallic compounds containing active sites, such as NiFe2O4, MgNiO2, and NiO. This explains the good catalytic performance in the tar conversion during the gasification process.  相似文献

Evolution of highly durable electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is the most critical barrier in commercializing polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). In this work, Pt deposited N-doped mesoporous carbon derived from Aloe Vera is developed as an efficient and robust electro catalyst for ORR. Due to its high mesoporous nature, the aloe vera derived carbon (AVC) play a very vital role in supporting Pt nanoparticles (NPs) with N-doping. After doping N into AVC, more defects are created which facilitates uniform distribution of Pt NPs leading to more active sites towards ORR. Pt/N-AVC shows excellent ORR activity when compared with commercial Pt/C and showing a half wave potential (E1/2–0.87 V Vs. RHE) and reduction potential (Ered ~ 0.72 V Vs. RHE) towards ORR. Even after 30,000 potential cycles, Pt/N-AVC shows in its E1/2 only ~5 mV negative shift and lesser agglomeration of Pt NPs is seen in the catalyst. In membrane electrode assembly (MEA) fabrication, Pt/N-AVC as a cathode catalyst in a PEMFC fixture and performance were studied. The Pt/N-AVC shows good performance, which proves the potential application of this naturally available bio derived carbon, which serves as an excellent high durable support material in PEMFC. All these features show that the Pt/N-AVC is the most stable, efficient and suitable candidate for ORR catalyst.  相似文献

In this study, a micro–partition (MP), structure with micro–scale fins and holes made of aluminum was stacked as a structured catalyst. The effect of this stacking on the reactivity of a methanol steam reforming reaction was examined. The reactivity was improved by promoting the fluid mixing effect in the reactor by the stacking of the characteristic MP structure. However, the reactivity was reduced when the number of MP catalysts (MPCs) to be stacked was increased and packed densely. Moreover, it was suggested that the reactivity could be improved by investigating the factors of the effective stacking method for a catalytic reaction. We proposed the MPC stacking method in terms of the number, position, distance, and orientation of MPCs, such that the fluid mixing effect was promoted and MPC worked uniformly, based on a numerical simulation. The effect of the proposed stacking method on the reactivity was experimentally demonstrated.  相似文献

Five-spot well pattern (FSWP) scheme has shown appealing potentialities to enhance the recovery of coal-bed methane (CBM) from methane hydrocarbon reservoirs (MHR). In this paper, a new framework aimed at systematically investigating productivity performance of FSWP scheme with inter-well pressure interference (IWPI) is presented. First, mathematical models which are used to characterize the fluid flow within MHR and hydraulic fractures (HFs) are separately derived. Second, Laplace transformation and Stehfest numerical algorithm are utilized to couple those two flow systems and obtain the pressure-transient solutions of FSWP scheme. Finally, pressure characteristics are discerned and sensitivity analysis of key parameters is implemented as well. This semi-analytical approach outperforms numerical simulation from the point of computational efficiency. Several common flow regimes, e.g., linear and bi-linear flow regimes, are essentially deformed induced by IWPI. Several significant parameters, including gas rate, fracture half-length, and well spacing on the occurrence of IWPI are systematically analyzed. This work gains some new knowledge about the productivity performance of FSWP scheme with the existence of IWPI when extracting CBM from methane hydrate reservoirs (MHR), which provides energy engineers considerable instructions on optimizing the development of methane hydrate reservoirs.  相似文献

Hydrogen Sulphide Methane Reformation (HSMR) represents a valid alternative for the simultaneous H2S valorisation and hydrogen production at the industrial scale, without direct CO2 emissions. The major concerns about the process commercialization are the possible coke formation in the reaction zone and the lack of active and selective catalysts. The study of the thermodynamics is the essential preliminary step for the reaction phenomena understanding. In this work, a deep thermodynamic analysis is performed to explore the system behaviour as a function of temperature, pressure, and inlet feed composition, using the Aspen Plus RGibbs module. In this way, the optimal process operating conditions to avoid carbon lay down can be identified.Assessed the system's thermodynamics, a preliminary process scheme is developed and simulated in Aspen Plus V11.0®, considering hydrogen production and its distribution in pipeline with methane. The process performances are discussed in terms of products' purity and process energy consumptions.  相似文献

The recent environmental-related issues such as climate change and global warming have sparked scientists' interest in finding a way to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases through dry reforming of CH4. As a result of this reaction, not only H2 is produced, but also CO2 and CH4 are reduced. Catalysts are needed due to the enhancement of the kinetics of the reaction. Non-noble metals like Ni, Co, etc., have shown promising activity, they are readily available, and have low cost; consequently, they have been widely employed for the reaction. In this paper, the recent advances in the development of the Ni- and Co-based nanocatalysts for DRM reaction, including the use of different supports and promoters, the addition of alkaline earth metals, and new structures like mesoporous silica and dendritic fibrous nano silica as supports were reviewed.  相似文献

The decomposition of formic acid is studied in a continuous sub- or supercritical water reactor at temperatures between 300 and 430 °C, a pressure of 25 MPa, residence times between 4 and 65 s, and a feedstock concentration of 3.6 wt%. In situ Raman spectroscopy is used to produce real-time data and accurately quantify decomposition product yields of H2, CO2, and CO. Collected spectra are used to determine global decomposition rates and kinetic rates for individual reaction pathways. First-order global Arrhenius parameters are determined as log A (s−1) = 1.6 ± 0.20 and EA = 9.5 ± 0.55 kcal/mol for subcritical decomposition, and log A (s−1) = 12.56 ± 1.96 and EA = 41.90 ± 6.08 kcal/mol for supercritical decomposition. Subcritical and supercritical Arrhenius parameters for individual pathways are proposed. The variance in rate parameters is likely due to changing thermophysical properties of water across the critical point. There is strong evidence for a surface catalyzed free-radical mechanism responsible for rapid decomposition above the critical point, facilitated by low density at supercritical conditions.  相似文献

Blue hydrogen production by steam methane reforming (SMR) with carbon capture is by far the most commercialised production method, and with the addition of a simultaneous in-situ CO2 adsorption process, sorption-enhanced steam methane reforming (SESMR) can further decrease the cost of H2 production. Ni-based catalysts have been extensively used for SMR because of their excellent activity and relatively low price, but carbon deposition, sulphation, and sintering can lead to catalyst deactivation. One effective solution is to introduce additional metal element(s) to improve the overall performance. This review summarizes recent developments on bi/polymetallic catalysts for SMR, including promoted nickel-based catalysts and other transition metal-based bi/polymetallic materials. The review mainly focuses on experimental studies, but also includes results from simulations to evaluate the synergistic effects of selected metals from an atomic point of view. An outlook is provided for the future development of bi/polymetallic SMR catalysts.  相似文献

Although various pretreatment methods are employed to promote sludge hydrolysis and thereby promoting methane production in the subsequent microbial electrolysis cell assisted anaerobic digestion (MEC-AD) system, the questions arise are, “which pretreatment method on waste activated sludge (WAS) maximises the sludge hydrolysis and what is the optimal applied voltage on anaerobic digestion (AD) to stimulates the direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) performance and thereby accelerating the methane production fed with pretreated WAS?” was still unanswered. Herein, firstly, a series of pretreatment methods to hydrolyse and mineralise the organic matter of WAS was performed to evaluate solubilization efficiency and thereafter, the influence of different applied voltages (0.3 V, 0.6 V, and 0.9 V) on coupled MEC-AD reactors fed with pretreated WAS was investigated to apprehend the DIET promotion for methane production. The results indicated that in MEC-AD reactors, the methane yield increased by 27.2%, 44.8%, and 37.3% when the applied voltages were 0.3 V, 0.6 V, and 0.9 V, respectively. Therefore, the alkaline-thermal pretreatment (ATP) enhanced the sludge hydrolysis in WAS, followed by an applied voltage of 0.6 V in the MEC-AD reactor fed with pretreated WAS, enhanced methane production under DIET stimulation induced by the increased abundance of electroactive microorganisms (EAM) and the advanced electron transfer. Besides, the energy balance estimation validates that with an applied voltage of 0.6 V in MEC-AD could achieve higher net energy input.  相似文献

The kinetics of the catalytic decomposition of hydrous hydrazine was determined for the experimental data published in 23 articles. The acquired database contains 139 data sets having 2038 data points. The collected data were analyzed by the integral method, which revealed that hydrazine decomposition follows power-law kinetics. The calculated values of apparent activation energies ranges between 22 and 64 kJ/mol - average value 50.3 kJ/mol, while the reaction orders concerning hydrazine concentration range between 0 and 0.64 - average value 0.33. Analysis showed that the catalyst support significantly impacts the reaction mechanism and activation energy. On average, the catalyst durability was tested by 7.1 cycles, and catalysts retained 69% of their initial activity. The average value of turnover number (TON) is 142, while the estimated value of TON for automotive applications ranges from 105–106, far above the value evaluated on the basis of the reported durability tests.  相似文献

This study has developed traceable standards for evaluating impurities in hydrogen fuel according to ISO 14687. Impurities in raw H2, including sub μmol/mol levels of CO, CO2, and CH4, were analyzed using multiple detectors while avoiding contamination. The gravimetric standards prepared included mixtures of the following nominal concentrations: 1, 2, 3–5, 8–11, 17–23, and 47–65 μmol/mol for CO2, CH4 and CO, O2, N2, Ar, and He, respectively. The expanded uncertainty ranges were 0.8% for Ar, N2, and He, 1% for CH4 and CO, and 2% for CO2 and O2. These standards were stable, while that for CO varied by only 0.5% during a time span of three years. The prepared standards are useful for evaluating the compliance of H2 fuel in service stations with ISO 14687 quality requirements.  相似文献

Carbon nanostructure materials are becoming of considerable commercial importance, with interest growing rapidly over the decade since the discovery of carbon nanofibers. In this study, a new novel method is introduced to synthesize the carbon nanofibers by gas-phase, where a single-stage microwave-assisted chemical vapour deposition approach is used with ferrocene as a catalyst and acetylene and hydrogen as precursor gases. Hydrogen flow rate plays a significant role in the formation of carbon nanofibers, as being the carrier and reactant gas in the floating catalyst method. The effect of process parameters such as microwave power, radiation time and gas ratio of C2H2/H2 was investigated statistically. The carbon nanofibers were characterized using scanning and transmission electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. The analysis revealed that the optimized conditions for carbon nanofibers production were microwave power (1000 W), radiation time (35 min) and acetylene/hydrogen ratio (0.8). The field emission scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope analyses revealed that the vertical alignment of carbon nanofibers has tens of microns long with a uniform diameter ranging from 115 to 131 nm. High purity of 93% and a high yield of 12 g of CNFs were obtained. These outcomes indicate that identifying the optimal values for process parameters is important for synthesizing high quality and high CNF yield.  相似文献

The catalysts used to facilitate the water gas shift reaction (WGSR) are generally harmful to the environment. Therefore, catalysts that have high activity and stability in WGSR and do not pollute the environment need to be fabricated. Herein, three promoters (La, Pr, and Zr) are added into Co–CeO2 (CoCe) catalyst to improve catalytic performance in a high temperature WGSR to produce high-purity hydrogen from waste-derived synthesis gas. Various techniques are employed to confirm the changes in the properties that affect the catalytic performance. The catalytic reaction is performed at a high gas hourly space velocity to screen the performance of the promoted CoCe catalysts. The CoCeZr catalyst shows the highest CO conversion (XCO = 88% at 450 °C) due to its high Co dispersion and oxygen vacancy resulting from the addition of Zr to the CoCe catalyst; thus, it is most suitable for use in high temperature WGSR.  相似文献

Considering the high calorific value and low-carbon characteristics of hydrogen energy, it will play an important role in replacing fossil energy sources. The production of hydrogen from renewable energy sources for electricity generation and electrolysis of water is an important process to obtain green hydrogen compared with classic low-carbon hydrogen production methods. However, the challenges in this process include the high cost of liquefied hydrogen and the difficulty of storing hydrogen on a large scale. In this paper, we propose a new route for hydrogen storage in metals, namely, electricity generation from renewable energy sources, electrolysis to obtain metals, and subsequent hydrogen production from metals and water. Metal monomers facilitate large-scale and long-term storage and transportation, and metals can be used as large-scale hydrogen storage carriers in the future. In this technical route, the reaction between metal and water for hydrogen production is an important link. In this paper, we systematically summarize the research progress, development trend, and challenges in the field of metal to hydrogen production. This study aim to aid in the development of this field.  相似文献

A high energy content (∼122 MJ/kg H2) and presence of hydrogen-bearing compounds abundance in nature make hydrogen forth runner candidate to fulfill future energy requirements. Biomass being abundant and carbon neutral is one of the promising source of hydrogen production. In addition, it also addresses agricultural waste disposal problems and will bring down our dependency on fossil fuel for energy requirements. Biomass-derived bio-oil can be an efficient way for hydrogen production. Acetic acid is the major component of bio-oil and has been extensively studied by the researchers round the globe as a test component of bio-oil for hydrogen generation. Hydrogen can be generated from acetic acid via catalytic steam reforming process which is thermodynamically feasible. A number of nickel-based catalysts have been reported. However, the coke deposition during reforming remains a major challenge. In this review, we have investigated all possible reactions during acetic acid steam reforming (AASR), which can cause coke deposition over the catalyst surface. Different operating parameters such as temperature and steam to carbon feed ratio affect not only the product distribution but also the carbon formation during the reaction. Present review elaborates effects of preparation methods, active metal catalyst including bimetallic catalysts, type of support and microstructure of catalysts on coke resistance behavior and catalyst stability during reforming reactions. The present study also focuses on the effects of a combination of a variety of alkali and alkaline earth metals (AAEM) promoters on coke deposition. Effect of specially designed reactors and the addition of oxygen on carbon deposition during AASR have also been analyzed. This review based on the available literature focuses mainly on the catalyst deactivation because of coke deposition, and possible strategies to minimize catalyst deactivation during AASR.  相似文献

The automobile catalytic converter (ACC) contains a huge number of precious metals as catalysts. When an ACC fails to meet standards, it is removed from the exhaust of an automobile but retains some catalytic activity. However, the recovery and/or activation of this waste is a high-cost process and includes several chemical treatments. Catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) has been reported as an effective wastewater treatment method. The most important disadvantage of CWAO is cost-nonefficiency. Herein, to overcome these problems, the simple recovery of catalysts from waste ACC for reuse in CWAO was investigated. The optimum conditions of reaction were investigated through response surface methodology (RSM). The optimum removal efficiency was 88% when the reaction conditions were set on the 20 bar of pressure at 111.5 °C over 77 min and using 0.41 g of recovered catalyst. In addition, toxicity testing was performed on a model of malathion-contaminated wastewater before and after CWAO treatment. Final product identification was performed which showed that CWAO eliminated the toxicity of wastewater and was determined to be malaoxon, present at acceptable concentrations, and tributyl phosphate. In conclusion, there may be important potential for the use of recovered ACC catalyst in the treatment of toxic wastewater.  相似文献
