The hot deformation behavior of sintered cobalt powder was studied. The Co powder prepared by thermal decomposition of cobalt oxalate was subsequently compacted by cold isostatic pressing (CIP) and sintered at 1300 °C under H2 atmosphere. Cobalt rods of 95 pct theoretical density were obtained. Strain rate change tests in compression were conducted in the temperature range of 900 °C to 1300 °C by changing strain rates from 0.001 to 3.2 s−1. Uninterrupted hot compression tests at constant strain rates and selective temperatures were also conducted. Microcracks as well as surface cracks were observed in the samples tested below 1200 °C. It was observed that the strain rate sensitivity (SRS) increased with increasing temperature and decreasing strain rate, with the maximum SRS of 0.3 being obtained at 1285 °C and strain rate of 10−3 s−1. Despite the higher SRS at low strain rates, the hot workability of sintered cobalt was found to be poor. Extensive grain boundary microcracking was observed, with the density being lowered after deformation. However, the samples tested at higher strain rates showed less microcracking and an increase in density. On the basis of the results, it was concluded that ease of grain boundary sliding at lower strain rates and higher temperatures was responsible for the poor workability at these conditions.  相似文献

Detailed knowledge of the material behaviour during austenite decomposition is of great importance for the development of new strategies in hot strip rolling, like direct and hot charging or ferritic rolling, as well as for the development of new steel grades. Especially the influence on flow curves, precipitation behaviour and microstructure in the hot strip is relevant. Two steels were investigated with regard to their softening behaviour in ferrite, ferriteaustenite and austenite region. An Avrami type modelling approach, based on the experimental softening results and the microstructural investigation was applied to model the softening in the two‐phase‐region. Thus the quantitative prediction of the softening can be found as a function of temperature, strain rate and interpass time.  相似文献

The forming behaviour at high temperature of a modified 9%Cr‐1%Mo (P91) ferritic steel containing B and Ti for elevated temperature service was investigated. The microstructure of the as‐received material is mainly martensite at room temperature, but special etching revealed prior austenite grains of about 25 μm in size. Torsion tests were conducted at temperatures in the range 850 to 1250 °C to simulate the hot rolling process under comparable conditions of temperature, strain rate and strain. The deformation data obtained from these tests were correlated with the Garofalo equation with a stress exponent of 4.6 and an activation energy of 315 kJ/mol. This equation was used to predict the formability behaviour for the rolling process and also to determine the maximum forming efficiency and stability of the steel. A temperature of 1200 °C is recommended to conduct the forming process.  相似文献

In order to investigate the effect of coiling temperature and alloying of phosphorus (P) on the formation of precipitates and recrystallization behaviour, initial samples of P‐free and P‐alloyed IF‐steels were prepared by coiling at 580 and 720°C. Variations of precipitates and textures after coiling, cold rolling and recrystallization annealing were studied by means of small angle neutron scattering (SANS), neutron texture measurements and TEM observations. Hardness measurements and microstructure observations disclose that both coiling temperature and alloying of P affect softening of cold rolled samples. Coiling at a lower temperature increases the number of fine precipitates smaller than 10 nm in the hot band. Upon recrystallization annealing, precipitates ranging in size from 10 to 50 nm increase at the expense of fine particles smaller than 10 nm. Recrystallization behaviours in cold rolled IF‐steel samples were discussed by tackling the distribution of precipitates and the amount of solute P atoms in solution.  相似文献

The hot deformation behaviour and microstructural evolution of AISI 904L super‐austenitic steel has been investigated by means of hot compression tests. The tests were carried out on a Gleeble 1500D thermo‐mechanical simulator in the temperature range from 850 °C to 1150 °C and at strain rates range from 0.001 s?1 to 5 s?1. The microstructure evolution was examined by means of light optical microscopy (LOM). The results show that after an initial deformation hardening, softening mechanisms occur. The peak stress level decreases with increasing deformation temperature and decreasing strain rate, which can be represented by a Zener–Hollomon parameter in the hyperbolic‐sine equation with the activation energy for deformation of 463 kJ/mol. The steady state was achieved at maximum strain of 0.9 only at the lower strain rates (under 1 s?1) and the higher temperatures (above 1100 °C). Microstructural analyses showed a gradual increase in the dynamically recrystallized area with an increase of the temperature and a decrease of the strain rate. The grain size did change, as expected, correlating to the deformation conditions.  相似文献

The hot torsion test (HTT) has been extensively used to analyse and physically model the flow behaviour and microstructure evolution of materials and alloys during hot deformation processes. The geometry of the specimen is a key factor for obtaining reliable results. In the present work, a thermo‐rigid viscoplastic FE code, THORAX.FOR, was developed to describe the interaction of thermal‐mechanical conditions and geometries of the HTT specimens. This was used to recommend the conditions for avoiding flow localization during HTT of API‐X70 microalloyed steel. The simulation results show how an inappropriate choice of both test specimen geometry and twist rate of deformation could lead to a significant temperature raise in the middle of the gauge section and temperature gradient in the radial and longitudinal direction of the specimen. This consequently causes flow localization during the test. Therefore, assumptions of isothermal forming conditions or uniform strain softening may not be valid in many test scenarios. These assumptions could introduce significant errors in the post results of the test such as flow curve and interpretation of microstructure evolution. Recommendations on proper specimen geometry for a specified strain rate will be given to avoid flow localization during the hot torsion test.  相似文献

1.3%Si steel hot bands were produced by hot rolling in a Steckel mill with two entrance temperatures: 1000°C (γ rolling) and 910°C (α+γ rolling). Hot band samples were processed with and without hot band annealing (900°C for 30s), cold rolled to final thickness of 0.5mm and annealed in H2‐25%N2 at 900°C for 40s. The combination of high hot rolling temperature and hot band annealing resulted in lower core loss and higher permeability. Although no significant differences were observed on the hot band microstructures, after hot band annealing the γ rolled sample showed a larger grain size. The final results were attributed to the effect of the initial grain size prior to cold rolling on microstructure and texture after annealing.  相似文献

Stress‐Temperature‐Transformation (STT) and Deformation‐Temperature‐Transformation (DTT) diagrams are well‐suited to characterize the TRIP (transformation‐induced plasticity) and TWIP (twinning‐induced plasticity) effect in steels. The triggering stresses for the deformation‐induced microstructure transformation processes, the characteristic temperatures, the yield stress and the strength of the steel are plotted in the STT diagram as functions of temperature. The elongation values of the austenite, the strain‐induced twins and martensite formations are shown in the DTT diagram. The microstructure evolution of a novel austenitic Cr‐Mn‐Ni (16%Cr, 6% Mn, 6% Ni) as‐cast steel during deformation was investigated at various temperatures using static tensile tests, optical microscopy and the magnetic scale for the detection of ferromagnetic phase fraction. At the temperatures above 250 °C the steel only deforms by glide deformation of the austenite. Strain‐induced twinning replaces the glide deformation at temperatures below 250 °C with increasing strain. Below 100 °C, the strain‐induced martensite formation becomes more pronounced. The kinetics of the α'‐martensite formation is described according to stress and deformation temperatures. The STT and DTT diagrams, enhanced with the kinetics of the martensite formation, are presented in this paper.  相似文献

The critical points and time temperature transformation (TTT) curves of Fe‐5%V‐5%W‐5%Mo‐5%Cr‐3%Nb‐2%Co (Fe‐V‐W‐Mo) were measured, and the effects of quenching temperature and cooling modes on the microstructure and performance of Fe‐V‐W‐Mo alloy were investigated. The results showed that the hardness of Fe‐V‐W‐Mo alloy increased until the quenching temperature reached 1025°C and dropped down as the quenching temperature exceeded 1050°C in oil cooling. The hardness obtained in air cooling and spray cooling exhibited a similar tendency as that in oil cooling, but the temperature at which the highest hardness was obtained in these slower cooling processes changed to a higher range. The hot hardness and toughness of Fe‐V‐W‐Mo alloy increased with rising quenching temperature until it reached 1150°C, and from then on the toughness began to drop. The main reasons why the structures and properties of Fe‐V‐W‐Mo alloy obviously change under different quenching conditions are particularly analysed at last.  相似文献

The elevated-temperature deformation behavior of polycrystalline molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2), in the range of 1000 °C to 1350 °C at the strain rates of 10−3, 5×10−4, or 10−4 s−1, has been studied. The yield strength, post-yield flow behavior comprising strain hardening and serrations, as well as some of the deformation microstructures of reaction-hot-pressed (RHP) MoSi2 samples, processed by hot pressing an elemental Mo + Si powder mixture and having a grain size of 5 μm and oxygen content of 0.06 wt pct, have been compared with those of samples prepared by hot pressing of commercial-grade Starck MoSi2 powder, with a grain size of 27 μm and oxygen content of 0.89 wt pct. While the fine-grained RHP MoSi2 samples have shown higher yield strength at relatively lower temperatures and higher strain rates, the coarse-grained Starck MoSi2 has a higher yield at decreasing strain rates and higher temperatures. The work-hardening or softening characteristics are dependent on grain size, temperature, and strain rate. Enhanced dislocation activity and dynamic recovery, accomplished by arrangement of dislocations in low-angle boundaries, characterize the deformation behavior of fine-grained RHP MoSi2 at a temperature of 1200 °C and above and are responsible for increased uniform plastic strain with increasing temperature. The silica content appears to be less effective in degrading the high-temperature yield strength if the grain size is coarse, but leads to plastic-flow localization and strain softening in Starck MoSi2. Serrated plastic flow has also been observed in a large number of samples, mostly when deformed at specific combinations of strain rates and temperatures.  相似文献

New stainless steels based on the system Fe‐30Mn‐5AI‐XCr‐0.5C (Cr mass contents of ≤ 9 %) were developed and evaluated as a replacement of conventional AISI 304 steel. The alloys were produced by induction melting and thermomechanically processed to obtain a fine equiaxed microstructure. A typical thermomechanical processing for AISI 300 austenitic stainless steels was used and included forging at 1200°C, rolling at 850 °C and final recrystallization at 1050 °C. A final fully austenitic microstructure with grains of about 150 μm in size was obtained in all the steels. Tensile tests at temperatures ranging from ‐196 to 400 °C showed similar results for the various alloys tested. In accordance with the values for the elongation to fracture, this temperature range was subdivided into three regions. In the temperature range of ‐196 °C to room temperature, elongation to fracture increases with decreasing temperature. At temperatures ranging from 100 to 300 °C, elongation to fracture increases with testing temperature and serrations on the stress‐strain curve were observed. Finally, higher testing temperatures were accompanied by a decrease in ductility. Examination of the microstructures after deformation led to the conclusion that mechanical twinning was the dominant mechanism of deformation at the tested temperatures.  相似文献

For the purpose of achieving the reasonable rolling technology of 780 MPa hot‐rolled Nb‐Ti combined ultra‐high strength steel, the effect of deformation and microalloy elements Nb and Ti on phase transformation behaviors was investigated by thermal simulation experiment. The results indicated: the deformation promoted ferritic transformation; due to the carbon content of the experimental steel was lower (<0.12% wt), the deformation indirectly impacted perlitic transformation through promoting ferritic transformation; the effect of the deformation on bainitic transformation was subject to condition whether proeutectoid ferrite precipitated before bainitic transformation. At low cooling rate of 0.5 °C/s, Nb and Ti promote transformation process γ → α, but that not good for refining the ferrite grain; at high cooling rate of 25 °C/s, Nb and Ti to a certain extent promote bainitic transformation. The recrystallization stop temperature of experimental steel was greater than 1000 °C, and phase transformation point Ar3 was 764 °C. In order to obtain the fully bainite microstructure in the practical rolling process, the cooling rate should be controlled above 15 °C/s, the start finish rolling temperature between 950–980 °C, the finishing temperature between 830–850 °C, the coiling temperature between 450–550 °C.  相似文献

The hot deformation behavior, microstructure development, and fracture characteristics of a wrought two-phase γ-titanium aluminide alloy Ti-45.5Al-2Nb-2Cr containing a fine, equiaxed microstructure were investigated with special reference to the influence of temperature transients immediately pre-ceding plastic deformation. Specimens were soaked at 1321 °C or 1260 °C, cooled directly to test temperatures of 1177 °C and 1093 °C, and upset under conditions of constant strain rate and tem-perature. Plastic flow behavior and microstructure evolution occurring in tests involving prior tem-perature transients were compared with those occurring in specimens which were directly heated to the test temperature and upset under identical deformation conditions. Flow curves associated with prior exposure at 1321 °C exhibited very sharp peaks and strong flow softening trends compared to those obtained under isothermal conditions,i.e., involving no temperature transients. During cooling from 1321 °C, the metastable α phase undergoes limited or complete decomposition into α/α2 + γ lamellae, depending on the final temperature (1177 °C/1093 °C). Subsequent hot deformation leads to partial globularization of the lamellae together with extensive kinking and reorientation of lamellae. In contrast, isothermal deformation at 1177 °C/1093 °C preserves the fine, equiaxed microstructure, through dynamic recrystallization of the γ grains. Cracking observed in specimens deformed at 1093 °C and 1.0 s−1 after exposure at 1321 °C has been attributed to the low rate of globularization as well as the occurrence of shear localization. Plastic flow behavior observed in this work is compared with that observed in several single-phase and two-phase gamma titanium aluminide alloys in order to identify mechanism(s) responsible for flow softening.  相似文献

The influence of temperature on the deformation behaviour of a Fe‐16.5Cr‐8Mn‐3Ni‐2Si‐1Cu‐0.25N (wt%) austenitic stainless steel alloy was investigated using transmission electron microscopy and X‐ray diffraction measurements. Recrystallized samples were deformed under tension at ?75°C, 20°C, and 200°C and the microstructures were characterized after 5% strain and after testing to failure. Deformation to failure at ?75°C resulted in extensive transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) with over 90% α′‐martensite. The sample deformed to 5% strain at ?75°C shows that the austenite transformed first to ?‐martensite which served to nucleate the α′‐martensite. Transformation induced martensite prohibits localized necking providing total elongation to failure of over 70%. At room temperature, in addition to some TRIP behaviour, the majority of the deformation is accommodated by dislocation slip in the austenite. Some deformation induced twinning (TWIP) was also observed, although mechanical twinning provides only a small contribution to the total deformation at room temperature. Finally, dislocation slip is the dominant deformation mechanism at 200°C with a corresponding decrease in total elongation to failure. These changes in deformation behaviour are related to the temperature dependence on the relative stability of austenite and martensite as well as the changes in stacking fault energy (SFE) as a function of temperature.  相似文献

The fine‐grained super duplex stainless steel Fe‐25Cr‐7Ni‐3Mo‐0.3N consisting of two phases (δ‐ferrite/austenite) exhibits structural super‐plasticity at higher strain rates of ? ≈ 10?2s?1 in the temperature range between 975 and 1100°C. The equiaxed microstructure with an average grain size of was produced by thermomechanical processing. Maximum strain‐rate‐sensitivity exponents of m ≈ 0.5 and elongations to failure of more than 500% were achieved. From thermal activation analysis an activation energy for superplastic flow of Q = 310 ± 20 kJ/mole was derived. The superplastic behaviour at higher strain rates is quantitatively described by a deformation model where grain or interphase boundary sliding is accommodated by sequential steps of dislocation glide and climb. The high strain‐rate‐sensitivity exponent and the observed dislocation density indicate that dislocation climb in the slightly solid solution strengthened austenite is the rate controlling step for superplastic flow. The deformation mechanism reveals that the investigated super duplex stainless steel exhibits superplastic behaviour that is typical for class II solid solution alloys.  相似文献

The hot deformation behaviour of a 0.47%C (JIS‐S45C) steel in the stable austenite region was systematically investigated under various deformation conditions to collect fundamental data on its high‐temperature deformation and microstructure evolution. The medium carbon steel showed dynamic recrystallization in a wide range of temperatures (850°C~1150°C) and strain rates (10‐3 s‐1~100 s‐1) in the stable austenite region. The dynamically recrystallized grain size was monotonically decreasing with increasing steady state stress. The minimum grain size obtained through dynamic recrystallization was 8.3 μm when the S45C specimen was deformed at 850°C and 1 s‐1. The stress‐strain relationships were formularized based on a phenomenological model. The stress‐strain curves estimated by the obtained equation were in good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

Effects of alloying with combinations of the elements Mo, Cr and B on the bainite transformation behaviour and microstructure of hot‐rolled high strength sheet steels microalloyed with mass contents of Ti and Nb, 0.05 or 0.15 % C and 1.5 % Mn have been studied. The relationships between microstructures formed in the steels coiled at various temperatures and their mechanical properties have been investigated. The 0.15 % C microalloyed steel alloyed with Mo,Cr and B with a complex bainitic microstructure was found to have distinctive high performance behaviour combining continuous yielding, high tensile strength and plasticity after coiling in a wide temperature region. The strain hardening of the micro‐constituents typical for the investigated steels has been analysed to have a better understanding of the mechanical properties of complex phase microstructures in low alloy ferrous alloys. It was found that bainitic ferrite with austenitemartensite islands as a second phase leads to high strength and adequate elongation. The features of the bainite formation in the Mo, Cr and B alloyed CMn steel microalloyed with Ti and Nb during slow cooling from temperatures between 650 and 550 °C was studied by dilatometry.  相似文献

After partial melting and solidification of cylindrical samples hot tensile tests were performed on austenitic stainless steels containing residual elements such as copper, tin and lead as well as calcium and magnesium. Using well controlled cooling conditions down to the testing temperature a radially solidified microstructure in the test zone of the samples was achieved. The testing material was prepared by remelting of base material from the industrial production and addition of single elements in the vacuum induction furnace. The maximum strength and the reduction of area were determined in the temperature range between liquidus and 1100°C. With regard to the reheating and hot rolling process some samples were thermally treated under industrial conditions. The ductility of the material at temperatures down to 950°C was tested and the effect of annealing was evaluated. Recommendations for material processing by continuous casting and hot rolling were derived from the tests performed.  相似文献

A further development of dual‐phase‐steels are represented by TRIP (transformation induced plasticity) ‐steels. TRIP‐steels contain austenite, which is metastable at room temperature. It transforms to martensite during straining (TRIP effect). This process improves the strength‐ductility balance of these steels. Two types of TRIP‐steels, low alloyed (L‐TRIP) and high alloyed (H‐TRIP), can be applied in sheet forming processes and exhibit different forming characteristics. Basing on results of uniaxial tensile tests and the evaluation of Young's modulus the forming limits in deep drawing processes and the component properties of deep drawn parts are discussed. The Young's modulus decreases significantly with increasing pre‐strain, especially demonstrated for the L‐TRIP material TRIP700. Forming limit curves determined at different forming temperatures indicate its influence on the forming limits. Martensite transformation is suppressed at a temperature of approximately T = 200 °C and therefore the major strain ?1 decreases significantly. For the investigated stainless steel AISI304 (H‐TRIP) different lubricant types in comparison to chlorinated paraffins have been tested. Lubricants consisting of sulphur additives led to good forming conditions in forming processes, even better than lubricants based on chlorinated paraffins. The evaluation of component properties, compared between L‐TRIP and H‐TRIP, was done based on the analysis of springback and dent resistance. The L‐TRIP material TRIP700 shows higher springback angles than AISI304 resulting from higher yield strength and decreased Young's modulus, resulting from the forming process. The dent resistance of TRIP‐steel was exemplarily demonstrated for AISI304. Uniaxial pre‐strained sheet specimen were analysed to show the dent resistance depending on dent depth. During elastic denting pre‐strain has no influence on dent resistance. Further increasing dent depth lead to increased dent forces for pre‐strained specimens.  相似文献
