Copper-based activated carbon adsorbents (Cu/AC) were prepared and used to investigate the effects of various copper precursors, impregnation solution concentration, and calcination temperature on phosphine (PH3) adsorption removal from yellow phosphorus tail gas. N2 adsorption isotherm and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) were used for characterizing the Cu/AC adsorbents. It can be seen that the Cu(N)/AC adsorbent prepared from the Cu(NO3)2 precursor has higher PH3 breakthrough adsorption capacity than other three adsorbent because the surface copper status of it is mainly CuO. Fresh activated carbon requires an optimal impregnation solution concentration (0.05 mol/L) to reach this optimal PH3 breakthrough adsorption capacity (78.62 mg/g). The result shows that the surface chemical characteristics (Cu content) of activated carbon is more important than the physical ones (specific surface or pore volume) for the PH3 adsorption performance. When the calcination temperature is 350°C, the Cu(N)/AC adsorbent has the biggest PH3 breakthrough adsorbed amount of 112.38 mg/g. The present study confirmed that the Cu/AC adsorbents would be one of the candidates for PH3 adsorption removal from yellow phosphorus tail gas.  相似文献

Cashew nut shell (CNS) is a low cost adsorbent that has been used for the removal of cadmium(II) from an aqueous solution. The effects of various parameters such as solution pH, CNS concentration, contact time, initial cadmium(II) concentration and temperature were examined. The CNS was effective for the quantitative removal of cadmium(II) ions in acidic conditions and equilibrium was achieved in 30 min. The experimental data were analyzed by two-parameter (Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich) and three-parameter models (Redlich- Peterson, Koble-Corrigan, Toth and Sips) by nonlinear regression analysis. The characteristic parameters for each isotherms and related correlation coefficients have been determined by using MATLAB 7.1. Thermodynamic parameters such as ??G o , ??H o and ??S o have also been evaluated, and it was found that the sorption process was feasible, spontaneous and exothermic. Pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich kinetic and intraparticle diffusion models were selected to follow the adsorption process. The results of the kinetic study show that the adsorption of cadmium(II) could be described by the pseudo-second order equation, suggesting that the adsorption process is presumably chemisorption. A single-stage batch adsorber was designed for different adsorbent dose-to-effluent volume ratios using the Freundlich equation. The results indicate that the cashew nut shell could be used to effectively adsorb cadmium(II) from an aqueous solution.  相似文献

This work reports the adsorption of strontium from aqueous solutions onto activated carbon. Various factors such as pH, initial concentration of strontium, particle size and temperature were considered. The optimum conditions obtained were: pH value = 4.0, contact time = 8 h, initial concentration of Sr(II) = 100 mg/l, particle size = 270 μm and temperature of 293.15 K. The adsorption of strontium(II) on activated carbon follows pseudo-first order kinetics and the energy of activation Ea calculated using the Arrehenius equation was found to be 3.042 kJ/mol.The adsorption isotherms could be fitted by the Langmuir model with the maximum adsorption capacity Qo being 5.07×10–4 mol/g at 293.15 K. A dimensionless separation factor RL was used to judge the favourable adsorption. The values of the mass transfer coefficient βL (cm/s) at different temperatures indicated that the velocity of mass transfer of Sr(II) ions onto activated carbon was slow. The intraparticle diffusion mechanism is of great importance in determining the overall rate of removal and the negative entropy of activation ΔS# value 145.13 J/mol K, reflects that no significant change occurs in the internal structure of activated carbon during adsorption of strontium(II). The Gibbs free energy ΔG°ads values range from –36.61 kJ/mol to –41.75 kJ/mol at 293.15–333.15 K, which show the physical adsorption properties of activated carbon and indicate the feasibility of the process.  相似文献

In this study, the adsorption of Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions from aqueous solutions onto amidoximated polymerized banana stem (APBS) has been investigated. Infrared spectroscopy was used to confirm graft copolymer formation and amidoxime functionalization. The different variables affecting the sorption capacity such as pH of the solution, adsorption time, initial metal ion concentration, and temperature have been investigated. The optimum pH for maximum adsorption was 10.5 (99.99%) for Zn2+ and 6.0 (99.0%) for Cu2+ at an initial concentration of 10 mg L?1. Equilibrium was achieved approximately within 3 h. The experimental kinetic data were analyzed using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models and are well fitted with pseudo- second-order kinetics. The thermodynamic activation parameters such as ΔGo, ΔHo, and ΔSo were determined to predict the nature of adsorption. The temperature dependence indicates an exothermic process. The experimental isotherm data were well fitted to the Langmuir model with maximum adsorption capacities of 42.32 and 85.89 mg g?1 for Cu(II) and Zn(II), respectively, at 20°C. The adsorption efficiency was tested using industrial effluents. Repeated adsorption/regeneration cycles show the feasibility of the APBS for the removal of Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions from water and industrial effluents.  相似文献

Cu-doped activated carbon composites were prepared from phenolic resins by a doping method. The structure and specific capacitance of Cu-doped activated carbon composites were investigated using nitrogen gas adsorption and constant current cycling (CCC) methods. The pore size distributions of activated carbon-Cu series indicated that the doped Cu had no drastic effect on the structure of ACs. The percentage of copper in the composite electrode was less than 1 wt. %. It was found that the AC-Cu series had higher capacitance than that of activated carbons; even though their BET surface area was not larger than that of the AC ones. The Cu-doped activated carbon composite prepared by activating at 800 °C for 2 h had high capacitance (120 F g−1) which was more than 25% than that of the ACs. XRD and TEM showed that copper existed in the form of oxidation state and the diameter of particles was under 100 nm.  相似文献

The first application of calcined Cardita bicolor oyster shell (CCBS) for Hg(II) and As(III) adsorption from synthetic and real wastewaters was tested. The main elements in CCBS structure were carbon, oxygen, magnesium, phosphor, and calcium. Effects of different parameters like initial pH, contact time, temperature, and CCBS dosage were assessed. The results showed that the maximum recovery of Hg(II) and As(III) adsorption was determined as C0=10 mg/L, t=80 min, T=25 °C, CCBS dosage=5 g/L, and pH=6 (for mercury ion) and 7 (for arsenic ion). In these conditions, 95.72% Hg(II) and 96.88% As(III) were removed from aqueous solution. The correlation coefficient (R2) values for both adsorbates were obtained >0.98 and >0.96 for Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models, respectively. Pseudo-second-order kinetic model was more capable to describe kinetic behavior of adsorption process of both metal ions in comparison with pseudo-first-order model. The half life (t1/2) value for Hg(II) and As(III) with initial concentration of 10 mg/L was 4.032 and 4.957 min, respectively. Moreover, thermodynamic parameters of enthalpy (ΔH o ), entropy (ΔS o ), and Gibbs free energy (ΔG o ) were investigated. Two real wastewaters obtained from a leather factory and a landfill leachate were successfully treated using CCBS. The results confirmed that adsorption process of metals ions was exothermic and spontaneous.  相似文献

Using attapulgite (ATP) as matrix, chitosan (CS) as functional monomer, and introducing the surface ionimprinting concept, a new Cu(II)-IIP was prepared, and characterized by SEM, XRD and FT-IR. The adsorption of Cu(II) aqueous solution with Cu(II)-IIP was investigated by flame atomic adsorption spectroscopy (FAAS). The polymer has good selectivity for Cu(II) from competitive metal ions, and the selectivity coefficient of Cu(II) relation to Pb(II), Cd(II) was 78.45 and 82.44, respectively. Sorption equilibrium isotherms could be described by Langmuir and Freundlich models; the Freundlich isotherm has shown the best agreement with experimental data, and experimental value of maximum adsorption capacity for Cu(II) was 35.20 mg/g. The obtained thermodynamic parameter (ΔG o , ΔH o , ΔS o ) showed that the Cu(II) adsorption process is a spontaneous and endothermic process. The kinetic data showed that pseudo-second-order kinetic model agrees very well with the dynamic behavior for the sorption of Cu(II) onto Cu(II)-IIP.   相似文献

The emf of the cell: Cu|Cu2+ in water||Cu2+ in water + alcohol|Cu for different alcohols (methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, t-butanol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and glycerol) and their mixtures with water have been measured at 25°C. These data were used for calculation of Gibbs free energies of transfer of copper(II) ion from water to nonaqueous alcohols and to their mixtures with water, with the help of negligible liquid junction potential assumption. Determined free energies of transfer are positive for all solvents studied, which may be simply interpreted assuming that copper(II)ion interacts more strongly with water molecules than with alcohol molecules, without reference to any special structural properties of these solvents.  相似文献

Equilibrium adsorption—desorption data for HCN on BPL activated carbon and ASC whetlerite carbon are reported for various temperatures. Wo values calculated from the Dubinin-Polyani equation for BPL activated carbon and for ASC whetlerite carbon are 0.42 and 0.35 ml/g respectively at temperatures from 0 to 122°C. The heats of sorption were obtained from the Clausius Clapeyron equation. The heat of sorption approximates to the heat of liquefaction at high surface coverage in both carbons. Significant increases above this are observed at surface coverages below 0.3, in the case of ASC whetlerite, and below 0.05, in the case of BPL activated carbon.  相似文献

Activated carbon preparation from tobacco stems by KOH activation at different activation temperatures and KOH/char mass ratios were investigated in this study. The effects of preparation parameters on activated carbon pore structure, morphometrics, microcrystallinities, and surface functional groups were characterized by N2 adsorption, SEM, XRD, and FTIR technologies, respectively. The optimum preparation condition of activated carbon was activation temperature of 850°C, and KOH/char mass ratio of 2. Under this condition, the BET surface area of 2215 m2/g, and the pore volume of 1.343 cm3/g can be obtained. Prepared activated carbon showed clearly honeycomb holes, and a predominated amorphous structure. With increase of activation temperature and KOH/char mass ratio, decrease of surface oxygen functional group, and aromatization of the carbon structure was found. The activated carbon was subject to PH3 purification, and the maximum PH3 adsorption capacity of 253 mg/g can be realized based on well prepared KOH-AC with modification of 2.5% Cu. It seems that the activated carbon produced from chemical activation of tobacco stem would be an effective and alternative adsorbent for PH3 adsorption because of its high surface area, adsorption capacity, and low cost.  相似文献

The objective of this work is to illustrate the potential in the use of activated carbon in the binary component sorption of copper and lead ions. Eucalyptus bark was used as a precursor for the activated carbon which was prepared through the phosphoric acid activation process. This activated carbon was then used for the sorption of copper and lead ions. The quantity of the metal ions in the solution was measured with the Flame & Graphite Furnace Atomic Adsorption Spectrophotometer. The results indicated that the optimal pH for sorption was 5. The maximum sorption capacities for Cu(II) and Pb(II) were 0.45 and 0.53 mmol g−1. Carboxylic, amine and amide groups were found to involve in the sorptions of Cu(II) and Pb(II). A major mechanism for the uptake of both heavy metals was proven not to be ion exchange but adsorption. In binary component sorptions, activated carbon still could sorb Pb(II) in a greater amount than Cu(II). However, the presence of the secondary metal ions suppressed the sorption of the primary metal ions. There seemed to have a linear inverse dependency between the sorption capacity and the concentration of the secondary metal ion.  相似文献

In the present study, PS@α‐Fe2O3 nanocomposites were prepared by chemical microemulsion polymerization approach and the ability of magnetic beads to remove Cu(II) ions from aqueous solutions in a batch media was investigated. Various physico‐chemical parameters such as pH, initial metal ion concentration, temperature, and equilibrium contact time were also studied. Adsorption mechanism of Cu2+ ions onto magnetic polymeric adsorbents has been investigated using Langmuir, Freundlich, Sips and Redlich–Petersen isotherms. The results demonstrated that the PS@α‐Fe2O3 nanocomposite is an effective adsorbent for Cu2+ ions removal. The Sips adsorption isotherm model (R2 > 0.99) was more in consistence with the adsorption isotherm data of Cu(II) ions compared to other models and the maximum adsorbed amount of copper was 34.25 mg/g. The adsorption kinetics well fitted to a pseudo second‐order kinetic model. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH°, ΔS°, and ΔG°) were calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms, and the results suggested that copper adsorption was a spontaneous and exothermic process. The dynamic adsorption behaviors of benzene vapor on phosphoric acid‐activated carbon fiber (ACF‐P) were investigated by gas chromatography. The experimental results showed that ACF‐P that was activated at >350°C, like steam‐activated carbon fiber (ACF‐W), has good dynamic adsorption properties for benzene vapor. However, the saturation adsorption capacities of ACF‐P and ACF‐W are different. The dynamic adsorption conditions apparently do not affect the effluent concentration before the breakthrough point, but do change the operation loading and usage efficiency. The adsorbed ACF‐P can be regenerated, and good dynamic adsorbability can be recovered by heating treatment. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 83: 1841–1847, 2002  相似文献

A chelating resin is produced by coupling a dye calcein blue to Amberlite XAD-2 through an azo spacer. The resulting resin has been characterized by FT-IR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studied for the preconcentration and determination of trace Cu(II) from solution samples. The optimum pH for adsorption of copper ions was 6. The sorption capacity of functionalized resin is 27 mg·g−1. The chelating resin can be reused for 10 cycles without any significant changes in sorption capacity. A recovery of 100% was obtained for Cu(II) when eluted with 0.5 M nitric acid. Scatchard analysis revealed that homogeneous binding sites were formed in the resin. The equilibrium adsorption data of Cu(II) on modified resin were analyzed by Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin models. Based on equilibrium adsorption data the Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin constants were determined 0.036, 2.196 and 0.348 at pH 6 and 20 °C, respectively. The method was applied for Cu(II) assay in environmental samples.  相似文献

The present study deals with the removal of phosphates from aqueous solution using activated carbon developed from coir pith. Batch adsorption experiments were performed to delineate the effect of initial pH, contact time, adsorbent dose and temperature on the removal of phosphates by coir-pith activated carbon (CAC) (activated by H2SO4). The removal was found to be maximum in the pH range of 6–10. The kinetics of adsorption showed that the phosphate adsorption onto CAC was a gradual process with a quasi-equilibrium being attained in 3 h. The adsorption equilibrium data followed the Temkin isotherm. Thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG o , ΔH o , and ΔS o were evaluated by applying the Arrhenius and van't Hoff equations, and it was found that the adsorption of phosphate on CAC was spontaneous and endothermic.  相似文献

A series of β‐ketoimine ligands with various fluorine substitutions on the N‐aryl ring and the corresponding copper complexes were synthesized. The fluorosubstituents exerted significant effects on the structures and catalytic activities of the copper complexes. X‐ray diffraction revealed that the copper(II) central ions were coordinated by two trans‐oriented β‐ketoimino ligands with delocalized double bonds. Complex 2b (with mono‐o‐fluorosubstitution on the N‐aryl moiety) adopted a central symmetric square planar structure, whereas complex 2f (with bis‐o‐fluorosubstitution) had a distorted square planar structure with a dihedral angle of 28.2°. The Cu? N bond length in 2f was appreciably shorter than that in 2b . When activated by modified methylaluminoxane, the copper complexes effectively polymerized methyl acrylate. Furthermore, substitution with more fluorine atoms resulted in a higher activity. The catalytic activity of the pentafluorosubstituted complex 2h reached 57.5 kg (mol of Cu)?1·h?1 under optimized conditions; this was the highest value reported up to this point for copper complexes in acrylic monomer polymerization. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Activated carbons were prepared from chestnut shell by phosphoric acid activation and the prepared activated carbons were used to remove lead(II) from aqueous solutions. The effects of impregnation ratio (IR) and activation temperature on activated carbon production were investigated. The produced activated carbons were characterized by N2 adsorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques. The highest surface area (1611 m2/g) and total pore volume (0.7819 cm3/g) were obtained at a carbonization temperature of 500°C with an impregnation ratio of 3/1. The resulting activated carbon was used for removal of lead(II) from aqueous solution. The effects of temperature, contact time, and adsorbent dosage were investigated. The adsorption isotherm studies were carried out and the obtained data were analyzed by the Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin equations. The rate of adsorption was found to conform to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The Langmuir isotherm equation showed better fit for all temperatures and the maximum adsorption capacities of lead(II) was obtained as 138.88 mg/g at 45°C.  相似文献

A process was developed for producing high quality activated carbon from Algerian mill waste. The solid olive mill residue was carbonized at 800 °C and physically activated with CO2, air or steam. An optimum activation temperature of about 850 °C was determined for all the activation agents used. Steam appeared to be the most efficient activator as compared with air and CO2. An optimal activation time of about 2 h was then determined with steam as the optimum activation agent. The porous structure of the activated carbon was characterized by nitrogen adsorption at −196 °C, and in all cases the surface areas, calculated by DR and BET methods, confirmed the production of a material with good microstructural characteristics and specific surfaces exceeding 1500 m2 g−1 for the carbon prepared by steam activation. Phenol adsorption isotherms gave the adsorption properties and the adsorption capacity of about 11.24 mg of phenol per gram of the activated carbon produced. The kinetics of the phenol adsorption onto the porous material was evaluated by means of two models: the external resistance model and the linear model. The second model appeared to constitute a more appropriate fit for the experimental data. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The adsorption characteristics of Pb(II) and Cd(II) onto colemanite ore waste (CW) from aqueous solution were investigated as a function of pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, and temperature. Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) models were applied to describe the adsorption isotherms. Langmuir model fitted the equilibrium data better than the Freundlich isotherm. The adsorption capacity of CW was found to be 33.6 mg/g and 29.7 mg/g for Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions, respectively. Analyte ions were desorbed from CW using both 1 M HCl and 1 M HNO3. The recovery for both metal ions was found to be higher than 95%. The mean adsorption energies evaluated using the D-R model indicated that the adsorption of Pb(II) and Cd(II) onto CW were taken place by chemisorption. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔGo, ΔHo and ΔSo) showed that the adsorption of both metal ions was feasible, spontaneous and exothermic at 20-50 °C. Adsorption mechanisms were also investigated using the pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The kinetic results showed that the adsorption of Pb(II) and Cd(II) onto CW followed well pseudo-second order kinetics.  相似文献

Granular activated carbons were obtained from grape seeds by pyrolysis at 600°C and subsequent physical activation with CO2 (750–900°C, 1–3 h, 25–74% burn-off). The carbon and ash content increased during the activation, reaching values of 79.0% and 11.4%, respectively. Essentially microporous materials with BET surface areas between 380 and 714 m2/g were obtained. The performance of the activated carbon in the adsorption of diuron in aqueous phase was studied within the 15–45°C temperature range. Equilibrium data showed that the maximum uptake increased with temperature from 120 to 470 µmol/g, also evidencing some dependence of the adsorption mechanism on temperature. Data were fitted to five isotherm models [Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin–Radushkevich, BET, and GAB (Guggenheim, Anderson, and de Boer)]. Kinetic data were analyzed using first- and second-order rate equations and intraparticle diffusion model. The second-order rate constant values obtained (2.8–13.5 × 10?3 g/µmol min) showed that the hollow core morphology of the material favors the adsorption kinetics.  相似文献
