Characteristics of signal light amplification by stimulated Raman scattering are studied theoretically for the twisted single-mode fibers. Coupling equations for orthogonal modes in the fiber are derived and solved analytically. The optical gain dependence on fiber twist rate, fiber length, and so on are numerically investigated. The Raman gain for the twisted fiber with a rate of 1 turn/m is found to be reduced by 10 dB comparing with the nontwisted fiber for the fiber length less than 2 km, while it is almost independent of twist rate for the fiber longer than 10 km. 相似文献

Expansion of a repeater spacing of optical transmission line is investigated using forward stimulated Raman scattering generated by a 1.34-μm Nd:YAG laser to amplify the signal light. Achievable repeater spacing at the 1.42-μm wavelength transmission is numerically estimated on the basis of coupled power equations and experimentally obtained Raman gain for various core-cladding index difference. A transmission distance of more than 200 km is predicted for an input signal light power of 100 μw and a pump power of 200 mW using a fiber with a relative index difference of 1 percent. 相似文献

The crosstalk between channels in Raman amplification for two-channel WDM system is calculated. Theory shows that severe crosstalk can occur even in the linear amplification (or pump undepletion) region. To ensure small crosstalk, the signal gain and injected pump power should be limited to values well below the threshold of Raman amplification. As a numerical example, a 30-dB gain penalty and 3-dB pump power penalty occur when a 30-dB signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) is required. 实验研究了高非线性光纤(HNLF)中受激布里渊散射(SBS)的阈值、增益谱、放大特性及其慢光特性,并与普通单模光纤(SMF)进行了对比分析。测量实验表明,HNLF在线宽100MHz的泵浦激光作用下,SBS的阈值为60mW,增益带宽为150MHz,获得的最大慢光延迟量将近15ns,延迟谱与增益谱较好对应。对基于SBS的未来全光通信系统中的高性能光延迟线或全光缓存器具有重要的参考价值。 相似文献

基于光纤中前向瞬态受激拉曼散射效应分析理论,利用光子晶体的高非线性特性,对光子晶体光纤拉曼波长转换进行了数值分析,并建立了全光波长转换设计方案的理论模型,给出了设计原理框图及实现方法。用OptiSystem对四路探测光进行波长转换仿真,仿真结果表明:所设计的全光波长转换器同时对四路探测光实现波长转换,转换输出的信号光码型和输入泵浦信号光码型一致,并且所得到的眼图线迹清晰,眼睛张开度良好。论证了该设计方案可行。 相似文献

为了研究抽运光的脉冲宽度对布里渊散射光的影响,对光纤传感系统中基于受激布里渊散射的三波耦合方程进行了分析,采用频域分析和一种微扰近似理论推导了散射光的近似表达式,然后通过数值计算分析了散射光随着脉冲宽度的变化规律。结果表明,在宽度接近于20ns(声子寿命)的脉冲下,散射谱出现多波峰结构;当宽度越来越接近于40ns时,主波峰逐渐增大,次波峰逐渐减小;当采用的脉冲宽度远远大于声子寿命时,散射谱只出现一个波峰并且维持一个波峰不变。此研究为传感中选取合适的脉冲宽度提供了参考。 相似文献

We review the principle and characteristics of cascaded Raman fiber lasers in their telecommunication applications. The fundamentals of Raman fiber lasers are described, such as pumping scheme, fiber type and reflectors. We explain simple equations forcw laser operation as well as a possible way to calculate spectral width. We investigate the common issues in the use of Raman fiber lasers: theoretical optimization, control of the linewidth, suppression level of the other Stokes orders and relative intensity noise. A systematic analysis on dynamics of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in highly pumped ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifiers during amplification of nanosecond pulses at tens-of-kilohertz repetition rates is presented. Energy and waveform evolutions of signal and Raman pulses in the amplifiers under forward, backward and bidirectional pump are depicted respectively. In consideration of the SRS components and incurred energy loss at the amplifier output, the detrimental effects of SRS on signal amplification for three pumping methods are quantitatively compared and comprehensively illustrated upon different signal, fiber and pump conditions.
