This proposal aims to enhance the accuracy of a dermoscopic skin cancer diagnosis with the aid of novel deep learning architecture. The proposed skin cancer detection model involves four main steps: (a) preprocessing, (b) segmentation, (c) feature extraction, and (d) classification. The dermoscopic images initially subjected to a preprocessing step that includes image enhancement and hair removal. After preprocessing, the segmentation of lesion is deployed by an optimized region growing algorithm. In the feature extraction phase, local features, color morphology features, and morphological transformation-based features are extracted. Moreover, the classification phase uses a modified deep learning algorithm by merging the optimization concept into recurrent neural network (RNN). As the main contribution, the region growing and RNN improved by the modified deer hunting optimization algorithm (DHOA) termed as Fitness Adaptive DHOA (FA-DHOA). Finally, the analysis has been performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

With the massive success of deep networks, there have been significant efforts to analyze cancer diseases, especially skin cancer. For this purpose, this work investigates the capability of deep networks in diagnosing a variety of dermoscopic lesion images. This paper aims to develop and fine-tune a deep learning architecture to diagnose different skin cancer grades based on dermatoscopic images. Fine-tuning is a powerful method to obtain enhanced classification results by the customized pre-trained network. Regularization, batch normalization, and hyperparameter optimization are performed for fine-tuning the proposed deep network. The proposed fine-tuned ResNet50 model successfully classified 7-respective classes of dermoscopic lesions using the publicly available HAM10000 dataset. The developed deep model was compared against two powerful models, i.e., InceptionV3 and VGG16, using the Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) and the area under the curve (AUC). The evaluation results show that the proposed model achieved higher results than some recent and robust models.  相似文献

Computer Assisted Diagnosis (CAD) is an effective method to detect lung cancer from computed tomography (CT) scans. The development of artificial neural network makes CAD more accurate in detecting pathological changes. Due to the complexity of the lung environment, the existing neural network training still requires large datasets, excessive time, and memory space. To meet the challenge, we analysis 3D volumes as serialized 2D slices and present a new neural network structure lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN)-long short-term memory (LSTM) for lung nodule classification. Our network contains two main components: (a) optimized lightweight CNN layers with tiny parameter space for extracting visual features of serialized 2D images, and (b) LSTM network for learning relevant information among 2D images. In all experiments, we compared the training results of several models and our model achieved an accuracy of 91.78% for lung nodule classification with an AUC of 93%. We used fewer samples and memory space to train the model, and we achieved faster convergence. Finally, we analyzed and discussed the feasibility of migrating this framework to mobile devices. The framework can also be applied to cope with the small amount of training data and the development of mobile health device in future.  相似文献

To find a better way to screen early lung cancer, motivated by the great success of deep learning, we empirically investigate the challenge of classifying lung nodules in computed tomography (CT) in an end‐to‐end manner. Multi‐view convolutional neural networks (MV‐CNN) are proposed in this article for lung nodule classification. Unlike the traditional CNNs, a MV‐CNN takes multiple views of each entered nodule. We carry out a binary classification (benign and malignant) and a ternary classification (benign, primary malignant, and metastatic malignant) using the Lung Image Database Consortium and Image Database Resource Initiative database. The results show that, for binary or ternary classifications, the multiview strategy produces higher accuracy than the single view method, even for cases that are over‐fitted. Our model achieves an error rate of 5.41 and 13.91% for binary and ternary classifications, respectively. Finally, the receiver operating characteristic curve and t‐distributed stochastic neighbor embedding algorithm are used to analyze the models. The results reveal that the deep features learned by the model proposed in this article have a higher separability than features from the image space and the multiview strategies; therefore, researchers can get better representation. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Smart healthcare has become a hot research topic due to the contemporary developments of Internet of Things (IoT), sensor technologies, cloud computing, and others. Besides, the latest advances of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools find helpful for decision-making in innovative healthcare to diagnose several diseases. Ovarian Cancer (OC) is a kind of cancer that affects women’s ovaries, and it is tedious to identify OC at the primary stages with a high mortality rate. The OC data produced by the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices can be utilized to differentiate OC. In this aspect, this paper introduces a new quantum black widow optimization with a machine learning-enabled decision support system (QBWO-MLDSS) for smart healthcare. The primary intention of the QBWO-MLDSS technique is to detect and categorize the OC rapidly and accurately. Besides, the QBWO-MLDSS model involves a Z-score normalization approach to pre-process the data. In addition, the QBWO-MLDSS technique derives a QBWO algorithm as a feature selection to derive optimum feature subsets. Moreover, symbiotic organisms search (SOS) with extreme learning machine (ELM) model is applied as a classifier for the detection and classification of ELM model, thereby improving the overall classification performance. The design of QBWO and SOS for OC detection and classification in the smart healthcare environment shows the study’s novelty. The experimental result analysis of the QBWO-MLDSS model is conducted using a benchmark dataset, and the comparative results reported the enhanced outcomes of the QBWO-MLDSS model over the recent approaches.  相似文献

In the last decade, there has been a significant increase in medical cases involving brain tumors. Brain tumor is the tenth most common type of tumor, affecting millions of people. However, if it is detected early, the cure rate can increase. Computer vision researchers are working to develop sophisticated techniques for detecting and classifying brain tumors. MRI scans are primarily used for tumor analysis. We proposed an automated system for brain tumor detection and classification using a saliency map and deep learning feature optimization in this paper. The proposed framework was implemented in stages. In the initial phase of the proposed framework, a fusion-based contrast enhancement technique is proposed. In the following phase, a tumor segmentation technique based on saliency maps is proposed, which is then mapped on original images based on active contour. Following that, a pre-trained CNN model named EfficientNetB0 is fine-tuned and trained in two ways: on enhanced images and on tumor localization images. Deep transfer learning is used to train both models, and features are extracted from the average pooling layer. The deep learning features are then fused using an improved fusion approach known as Entropy Serial Fusion. The best features are chosen in the final step using an improved dragonfly optimization algorithm. Finally, the best features are classified using an extreme learning machine (ELM). The experimental process is conducted on three publically available datasets and achieved an improved accuracy of 95.14, 94.89, and 95.94%, respectively. The comparison with several neural nets shows the improvement of proposed framework.  相似文献

Skin cancer is one of the most severe diseases, and medical imaging is among the main tools for cancer diagnosis. The images provide information on the evolutionary stage, size, and location of tumor lesions. This paper focuses on the classification of skin lesion images considering a framework of four experiments to analyze the classification performance of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in distinguishing different skin lesions. The CNNs are based on transfer learning, taking advantage of ImageNet weights. Accordingly, in each experiment, different workflow stages are tested, including data augmentation and fine-tuning optimization. Three CNN models based on DenseNet-201, Inception-ResNet-V2, and Inception-V3 are proposed and compared using the HAM10000 dataset. The results obtained by the three models demonstrate accuracies of 98%, 97%, and 96%, respectively. Finally, the best model is tested on the ISIC 2019 dataset showing an accuracy of 93%. The proposed methodology using CNN represents a helpful tool to accurately diagnose skin cancer disease.  相似文献

The goal of this study is to show emerging applications of deep learning technology in cancer imaging. Deep learning technology is a family of computational methods that allow an algorithm to program itself by learning from a large set of examples that demonstrate the desired behavior. Applications of deep learning technology to cancer imaging can assist pathologists in the detection and classification of cancer in the early stages of its development to allow patients to have appropriate treatments that can increase their survival. Statistical analyses and other analytical approaches, based on data of ScienceDirect (a source for scientific research), suggest that the sharp increase of the studies of deep learning technology in cancer imaging seems to be driven by high rates of mortality of some types of cancer (e.g., lung and breast) in order to solve consequential problems of a more accurate detection and characterization of cancer types to apply efficient anti-cancer therapies. Moreover, this study also shows sources of the trajectories of deep learning technology in cancer imaging at level of scientific subject areas, universities and countries with the highest scientific production in these research fields. This new technology, in accordance with Amara's law, can generate a shift of technological paradigm for diagnostic assessment of any cancer type and disease. This new technology can also generate socioeconomic benefits for poor regions because they can send digital images to labs of other developed regions to have diagnosis of cancer types, reducing as far as possible current gap in healthcare sector among different regions.  相似文献

Lung cancer is a dangerous disease causing death to individuals. Currently precise classification and differential diagnosis of lung cancer is essential with the stability and accuracy of cancer identification is challenging. Classification scheme was developed for lung cancer in CT images by Kernel based Non-Gaussian Convolutional Neural Network (KNG-CNN). KNG-CNN comprises of three convolutional, two fully connected and three pooling layers. Kernel based Non-Gaussian computation is used for the diagnosis of false positive or error encountered in the work. Initially Lung Image Database Consortium image collection (LIDC-IDRI) dataset is used for input images and a ROI based segmentation using efficient CLAHE technique is carried as preprocessing steps, enhancing images for better feature extraction. Morphological features are extracted after the segmentation process. Finally, KNG-CNN method is used for effectual classification of tumour > 30mm. An accuracy of 87.3% was obtained using this technique. This method is effectual for classifying the lung cancer from the CT scanned image.  相似文献

White blood cells (WBC) or leukocytes are a vital component of the blood which forms the immune system, which is accountable to fight foreign elements. The WBC images can be exposed to different data analysis approaches which categorize different kinds of WBC. Conventionally, laboratory tests are carried out to determine the kind of WBC which is erroneous and time consuming. Recently, deep learning (DL) models can be employed for automated investigation of WBC images in short duration. Therefore, this paper introduces an Aquila Optimizer with Transfer Learning based Automated White Blood Cells Classification (AOTL-WBCC) technique. The presented AOTL-WBCC model executes data normalization and data augmentation process (rotation and zooming) at the initial stage. In addition, the residual network (ResNet) approach was used for feature extraction in which the initial hyperparameter values of the ResNet model are tuned by the use of AO algorithm. Finally, Bayesian neural network (BNN) classification technique has been implied for the identification of WBC images into distinct classes. The experimental validation of the AOTL-WBCC methodology is performed with the help of Kaggle dataset. The experimental results found that the AOTL-WBCC model has outperformed other techniques which are based on image processing and manual feature engineering approaches under different dimensions.  相似文献
