Let be the subgraph of the hypercube Qn induced by levels between k and n-k, where n?2k+1 is odd. The well-known middle-level conjecture asserts that is Hamiltonian for all k?1. We study this problem in for fixed k. It is known that and are Hamiltonian for all odd n?3. In this paper we prove that also is Hamiltonian for all odd n?5, and we conjecture that is Hamiltonian for every k?0 and every odd n?2k+1.  相似文献

We introduce Pentagons (), a weakly relational numerical abstract domain useful for the validation of array accesses in byte-code and intermediate languages (IL). This abstract domain captures properties of the form of . It is more precise than the well known Interval domain, but it is less precise than the Octagon domain. The goal of is to be a lightweight numerical domain useful for adaptive static analysis, where is used to quickly prove the safety of most array accesses, restricting the use of more precise (but also more expensive) domains to only a small fraction of the code.We implemented the abstract domain in , a generic abstract interpreter for.NET assemblies. Using it, we were able to validate 83% of array accesses in the core runtime library in a little bit more than 3 minutes.  相似文献

We develop a data structure for maintaining a dynamic multiset that uses bits and O(1) words, in addition to the space required by the n elements stored, supports searches in worst-case time and updates in amortized time. Compared to earlier data structures, we improve the space requirements from O(n) bits to bits, but the running time of updates is amortized, not worst-case.  相似文献

In regular inference, a regular language is inferred from answers to a finite set of membership queries, each of which asks whether the language contains a certain word. One of the most well-known regular inference algorithms is the L algorithm due to Dana Angluin. However, there are almost no extensions of these algorithms to the setting of timed systems. We extend Angluin’s algorithm for on-line learning of regular languages to the setting of timed systems. Since timed automata can freely use an arbitrary number of clocks, we restrict our attention to systems that can be described by deterministic event-recording automata (DERAs). We present three algorithms, , and , for inference of DERAs. In and , we further restrict event-recording automata to be event-deterministic in the sense that each state has at most one outgoing transition per action; learning such an automaton becomes significantly more tractable. The algorithm builds on , by attempts to construct a smaller (in number of locations) automaton. Finally, is a learning algorithm for a full class of deterministic event-recording automata, which infers a so called simple DERA, which is similar in spirit to the region graph.  相似文献

The k-ary n-cube, denoted by , is one of the most important interconnection networks for parallel computing. In this paper, we consider the problem of embedding cycles and paths into faulty 3-ary n-cubes. Let F be a set of faulty nodes and/or edges, and n?2. We show that when |F|?2n-2, there exists a cycle of any length from 3 to in . We also prove that when |F|?2n-3, there exists a path of any length from 2n-1 to between two arbitrary nodes in . Since the k-ary n-cube is regular of degree 2n, the fault-tolerant degrees 2n-2 and 2n-3 are optimal.  相似文献

The AcerMC Monte Carlo Event Generator is dedicated for the generation of Standard Model background processes at pp LHC collisions. The program itself provides a library of the massive matrix elements and phase space modules for generation of a set of selected processes: , , , , and complete electroweak process. The hard process event, generated with one of these modules, can be completed by the initial and final state radiation, hadronization and decays, simulated with either PYTHIA or HERWIG Monte Carlo event generator. Interfaces to both of these generators are provided in the distribution version. The matrix element codes have been derived with the help of the MADGRAPH package. The phase-space generation is based on the multi-channel self-optimizing approach as proposed in NEXTCALIBUR event generator. Eventually, additional smoothing of the phase space was obtained by using a modified ac-VEGAS routine in order to improve the generation efficiency.  相似文献

This new version of TaylUR is based on a completely new core, which now is able to compute the numerical values of all of a complex-valued function's partial derivatives up to an arbitrary order, including mixed partial derivatives.

Phys. Comm. 176 (2007) 710Does the new version supersede the previous version?: YesNature of problem: Problems that require potentially high orders of partial derivatives with respect to several variables or derivatives of complex-valued functions, such as e.g. momentum or mass expansions of Feynman diagrams in perturbative QFT, and which previous versions of this TaylUR [1,2] cannot handle due to their lack of support for mixed partial derivatives.Solution method: Arithmetic operators and Fortran intrinsics are overloaded to act correctly on objects of a defined type taylor, which encodes a function along with its first few partial derivatives with respect to the user-defined independent variables. Derivatives of products and composite functions are computed using multivariate forms [3] of Leibniz's rule where ν=(ν1,…,νd), , , Dνf=|ν|f/(ν1x1?νdxd), and μ<ν iff either |μ|<|ν| or |μ|=|ν|,μ1=ν1,…,μk=νk,μk+1<νk+1 for some k∈{0,…,d−1}, and of Fàa di Bruno's formula where the sum is over , . An indexed storage system is used to store the higher-order derivative tensors in a one-dimensional array. The relevant indices (k1,…,ks;λ1,…,λs) and the weights occurring in the sums in Leibniz's and Fàa di Bruno's formula are precomputed at startup and stored in static arrays for later use.Reasons for new version: The earlier version lacked support for mixed partial derivatives, but a number of projects of interest required them.Summary of revisions: The internal representation of a taylor object has changed to a one-dimensional array which contains the partial derivatives in ascending order, and in lexicographic order of the corresponding multiindex within the same order. The necessary mappings between multiindices and indices into the taylor objects' internal array are computed at startup. To support the change to a genuinely multivariate taylor type, the DERIVATIVE function is now implemented via an interface that accepts both the older format derivative(f,mu,n) and also a new format derivative(f,mu(:))=Dμf that allows access to mixed partial derivatives. Another related extension to the functionality of the module is the HESSIAN function that returns the Hessian matrix of second derivatives of its argument. Since the calculation of all mixed partial derivatives can be very costly, and in many cases only some subset is actually needed, a masking facility has been added. Calling the subroutine DEACTIVATE_DERIVATIVE with a multiindex as an argument will deactivate the calculation of the partial derivative belonging to that multiindex, and of all partial derivatives it can feed into. Similarly, calling the subroutine ACTIVATE_DERIVATIVE will activate the calculation of the partial derivative belonging to its argument, and of all partial derivatives that can feed into it. Moreover, it is possible to turn off the computation of mixed derivatives altogether by setting Diagonal_taylors to .TRUE.. It should be noted that any change of Diagonal_taylors or Taylor_order invalidates all existing taylor objects. To aid the better integration of TaylUR into the HPSrc library [4], routines SET_DERIVATIVE and SET_ALL_DERIVATIVES are provided as a means of manually constructing a taylor object with given derivatives.Restrictions: Memory and CPU time constraints may restrict the number of variables and Taylor expansion order that can be achieved. Loss of numerical accuracy due to cancellation may become an issue at very high orders.Unusual features: These are the same as in previous versions, but are enumerated again here for clarity. The complex conjugation operation assumes all independent variables to be real. The functions REAL and AIMAG do not convert to real type, but return a result of type taylor (with the real/imaginary part of each derivative taken) instead. The user-defined functions VALUE, REALVALUE and IMAGVALUE, which return the value of a taylor object as a complex number, and the real and imaginary part of this value, respectively, as a real number are also provided. Fortran 95 intrinsics that are defined only for arguments of real type (ACOS, AINT, ANINT, ASIN, ATAN, ATAN2, CEILING, DIM, FLOOR, INT, LOG10, MAX, MAXLOC, MAXVAL, MIN, MINLOC, MINVAL, MOD, MODULO, NINT, SIGN) will silently take the real part of taylor-valued arguments unless the module variable Real_args_warn is set to .TRUE., in which case they will return a quiet NaN value (if supported by the compiler) when called with a taylor argument whose imaginary part exceeds the module variable Real_args_tol. In those cases where the derivative of a function becomes undefined at certain points (as for ABS, AINT, ANINT, MAX, MIN, MOD, and MODULO), while the value is well defined, the derivative fields will be filled with quiet NaN values (if supported by the compiler).Additional comments: This version of TaylUR is released under the second version of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2). Therefore anyone is free to use or modify the code for their own calculations. As part of the licensing, it is requested that any publications including results from the use of TaylUR or any modification derived from it cite Refs. [1,2] as well as this paper. Finally, users are also requested to communicate to the author details of such publications, as well as of any bugs found or of required or useful modifications made or desired by them.Running time: The running time of TaylUR operations grows rapidly with both the number of variables and the Taylor expansion order. Judicious use of the masking facility to drop unneeded higher derivatives can lead to significant accelerations, as can activation of the Diagonal_taylors variable whenever mixed partial derivatives are not needed.Acknowledgments: The author thanks Alistair Hart for helpful comments and suggestions. In this paper, we consider the problem of finding ?-approximate frequent items over a sliding window of size N. A recent work by Lee and Ting (2006) [7] solves the problem by giving an algorithm that supports query and update time, and uses space. Their query time and memory usage are essentially optimal, but the update time is not. We give a new algorithm that supports O(1) update time with high probability while maintaining the query time and memory usage as .  相似文献

A path in G is a hamiltonian path if it contains all vertices of G. A graph G is hamiltonian connected if there exists a hamiltonian path between any two distinct vertices of G. The degree of a vertex u in G is the number of vertices of G adjacent to u. We denote by δ(G) the minimum degree of vertices of G. A graph G is conditional k edge-fault tolerant hamiltonian connected if GF is hamiltonian connected for every FE(G) with |F|?k and δ(GF)?3. The conditional edge-fault tolerant hamiltonian connectivity is defined as the maximum integer k such that G is k edge-fault tolerant conditional hamiltonian connected if G is hamiltonian connected and is undefined otherwise. Let n?4. We use Kn to denote the complete graph with n vertices. In this paper, we show that for n∉{4,5,8,10}, , , , and .  相似文献

In this paper, we consider two problems which can be posed as spectral radius minimization problems. Firstly, we consider the fastest average agreement problem on multi-agent networks adopting a linear information exchange protocol. Mathematically, this problem can be cast as finding an optimal such that x(k+1)=Wx(k), , and WS(E). Here, is the value possessed by the agents at the kth time step, is an all-one vector and S(E) is the set of real matrices in with zeros at the same positions specified by a network graph G(V,E), where V is the set of agents and E is the set of communication links between agents. The optimal W is such that the spectral radius is minimized. To this end, we consider two numerical solution schemes: one using the qth-order spectral norm (2-norm) minimization (q-SNM) and the other gradient sampling (GS), inspired by the methods proposed in [Burke, J., Lewis, A., & Overton, M. (2002). Two numerical methods for optimizing matrix stability. Linear Algebra and its Applications, 351-352, 117-145; Xiao, L., & Boyd, S. (2004). Fast linear iterations for distributed averaging. Systems & Control Letters, 53(1), 65-78]. In this context, we theoretically show that when E is symmetric, i.e. no information flow from the ith to the jth agent implies no information flow from the jth to the ith agent, the solution from the 1-SNM method can be chosen to be symmetric and is a local minimum of the function . Numerically, we show that the q-SNM method performs much better than the GS method when E is not symmetric. Secondly, we consider the famous static output feedback stabilization problem, which is considered to be a hard problem (some think NP-hard): for a given linear system (A,B,C), find a stabilizing control gain K such that all the real parts of the eigenvalues of A+BKC are strictly negative. In spite of its computational complexity, we show numerically that q-SNM successfully yields stabilizing controllers for several benchmark problems with little effort.  相似文献

There is no known algorithm that solves the general case of the approximate edit distance problem, where the edit operations are insertion, deletion, mismatch, and swap, in time o(nm), where n is the length of the text and m is the length of the pattern. In the effort to study this problem, the edit operations have been analyzed independently. Karloff [10] showed an algorithm that approximates the edit distance problem with only the mismatch operation in time . Amir et al. [4] showed that if the only edit operations allowed are swap and mismatch, then the exact edit distance problem can be solved in time .In this paper, we discuss the problem of approximate edit distance with swap and mismatch. We show a randomized time algorithm for the problem. The algorithm guarantees an approximation factor of (1+?) with probability of at least .  相似文献

This paper considers the nonparametric estimation of Kendall’s tau for bivariate censored data. Under censoring, there have been some papers discussing the nonparametric estimation of Kendall’s tau, such as Wang and Wells (2000), Oakes (2008) and Lakhal et al. (2009). In this article, we consider an alternative approach to estimate Kendall’s tau. The main idea is to replace a censored event-time by a proper imputation. Thus, it induces three estimators, say , , and . We also apply the bootstrap method to estimate the variance of , and and to construct the corresponding confidence interval. Furthermore, we analyze two data sets by the suggested approach, and compare these practical estimators of Kendall’s tau in simulation studies.  相似文献

Consider a dataset of n(d) points generated independently from Rd according to a common p.d.f. fd with support(fd)=d[0,1] and sup{fd(Rd)} growing sub-exponentially in d. We prove that: (i) if n(d) grows sub-exponentially in d, then, for any query point and any ?>0, the ratio of the distance between any two dataset points and is less that 1+? with probability →1 as d→∞; (ii) if n(d)>d[4(1+?)] for large d, then for all (except a small subset) and any ?>0, the distance ratio is less than 1+? with limiting probability strictly bounded away from one. Moreover, we provide preliminary results along the lines of (i) when .  相似文献

A 2-dipath k-coloring f of an oriented graph is a mapping from to the color set {1,2,…,k} such that f(x)≠f(y) whenever two vertices x and y are linked by a directed path of length 1 or 2. The 2-dipath chromatic number of is the smallest k such that has a 2-dipath k-coloring. In this paper we prove that if is an oriented Halin graph, then . There exist infinitely many oriented Halin graphs such that .  相似文献

In this paper, a method to estimate the domain of attraction of a class of discrete-time Lur’e systems is presented. A new notion of invariance, denoted -invariance, is introduced. An algorithm to determinate the largest -invariant set for this class of systems is proposed. Moreover, it is proven that the -invariant sets provided by this algorithm are polyhedral convex sets and constitute an estimation of the domain of attraction of the non-linear system. It is shown that any contractive set for the Lur’e system is contained in the -invariant set obtained applying the results of this paper. Two illustrative examples are given.  相似文献
