The maximum operating temperature of conventional silicon sensors is limited to about 200°C, due to excessive thermal generation of carriers at higher temperatures. The minority-carrier exclusion effect can be exploited to reduce the number of thermally generated carriers, ultimately maintaining extrinsic carrier concentrations at intrinsic temperatures. Based on this effect, a silicon magnetic-field sensor with a maximum operating temperature of about 400°C is presented. The sensitivity has been improved by about 500% with respect to a previously reported version, and now measures about 60 V (A T)−1 at room temperature. Additionally, the theoretical support of the exclusion effect has been improved with a more accurate analytical model. 相似文献

The conventional fault-tolerant sensor systems would fail when outputs from incorporated sensors are either noisy or drifting. This paper presents a novel real-time fault compensation method, which uses state estimation and compensation techniques, that the sensor system can perform robust measurements even when outputs from every incorporated sensor are noisy and drifting. In a simulation example, the proposed design can detect and correct the sensor errors (dc bias and drift) in real time. For the dc bias, the minimum detectable offset value is 0.1, which is the same as the standard deviation of the sensor noise. The compensated sensor output is biased at values smaller than 0.02. For the sensor drifts, the proposed method can compensate drifts for the change rate of drifts up to four times faster than that of the signal to be measured. The highest change rate of drifts, that can be compensated by this method, is determined by the standard deviation of the sensor noise. 相似文献

A single-chip 3-D silicon vector sensor for magnetic-field measurement is presented. This triaxial device functionally integrates in a common transducer region two novel five-contacts parallel-field Hall elements for in-plane components Bx and By and four cross-coupled orthogonal triple Hall elements for the Bz component, perpendicular to the chip surface. The effective sensor volume is 150 μm×150 μm×100 μm. The main advantage of this 3-D vector magnetometer is the strongly reduced (with about 45%) channel cross-sensitivities. This is achieved by amperometric output mode of operation using an original read-out circuitry, keeping equal voltage conditions on the top of the chip with and without magnetic field. The sensitivities per channel reaches SA(Bx)=SA(By)=356 μA/T and SA(Bz)=260 μA/T at a supply current 10 mA, the measured equivalent offsets of the three channel outputs are 25/35 mT and the low frequency noise is mainly a 1/f. The lowest detected magnetic induction of the three output channels is about 15/20 μT in the range 1≤f≤ 102 Hz and the frequency response of the 3-D device together with the read-out electronics is at least 30 kHz. 相似文献

In this paper, a new trackball design based on a non-contacting motion detection mechanism is analyzed. It utilizes the hysteresis phenomenon of magnetic grade steel. In this design, the ball and a pair of electromagnets are made from magnetic grade stainless steel material. The electromagnets are placed outside and near to the ball surface. They record the magnetic information onto the ball surface. A Hall sensor, acting as a magnetic field detector, is placed inside each electromagnet. As the ball moves, the magnetic field recorded onto the ball surface produces instantaneous changes in the Hall sensor output. This output is then converted into a suitable format in order to determine the speed and direction of motion of the ball. Tests have been performed to check the viability of this technique. The promising test results have lead to the successful development of a prototype trackball. 相似文献
