In this paper, network synchronization of coupled Chua’s circuits in star configuration is experimentally studied. In particular, plastic optical fiber (POF) is used in the network like communication channels among chaotic nodes to achieve synchronization. The master signal is sent to multiple slaves through a fiber optical coupler with corresponding electrical/optical and optical/electrical stages. An application to encrypted chaotic communication to transmit analogical signal and image messages to multiple receivers is also given. 相似文献

High-speed and long-distance transmission characteristics have been examined at 1.2, 2, and 4 Gbit/s, employing mesa structure DFB-DC-PBH LD transmitters and planar InGaAs APD receivers. High receiver sensitivities, -40 dBm at 1.2 Gbit/s, -37.4 dBm at 2 Gbit/s and -32.4 dBm at 4 Gbit/s, have been obtained employing high-speed and low noise InGaAs APD/FET receiver circuits. Long-span transmissions, 1.2-Gbit/s 170-km, 2-Gbit/s 141-km, and 4- Gbit/s 120-km at 1.55 μm, and 4-Gbit/s 74-km at 1.3 μm, have been performed. Power penalties caused by the LD wavelength chirping in the 1.5- μm wavelength region and error rate flooring caused by the LD side-mode oscillation in the 1.3- μm wavelength region are discussed. The transmission length is limited not only by the DFB LD wavelength chirping but also by the two-mode oscillation, which was observed at the pulse leading edge when LD bias current was near the threshold current. From the 1.3 μm wavelength 4-Gbit/s experiment, it was found that the pattern effect of the side-mode oscillation caused the error rate floor, when the LD bias current is set near the threshold current, and that the error rate floor disappeared when the bias current is set slightly above the threshold. 相似文献

In this letter, we report on the first active coupler developed with the plastic optical fiber technology. The device constructed combines the characteristics of the most important devices arising from this technology, which are switches and couplers. The solution adopted is based on the structure of a passive contact coupler and on the switching properties of a nonquiral nematic liquid crystal. The device designed yields an experimental coupling of 4.5 dB with excess losses under 2.5 dB if the device acts as a coupler; and a dynamic range of 3 dB and switching times of 2 ms if the device acts as a switch 相似文献

针对光纤端面制备中各种因素的影响会导致光纤端面产生缺陷的问题,研究了一种基于机器视觉技术的光纤端面检测系统。针对光纤端面显微图像的结构特点,使用图像处理算法拟合其中的椭圆,并提出了一种基于同心椭圆约束的椭圆检测方法,挑选出纤芯和包层轮廓的拟合椭圆。依据获取的拟合椭圆参数将光纤端面划分为三个检测区域,进行分区域的瑕疵点检测和统计。全部算法使用VS2010和OpenCV开发实现。实验表明,该检测系统可以对光纤端面进行准确的质量测定。 相似文献

基于单通道盲信号分离技术(Single Channel Blind Source Separation,SCBSS)及单模-多模-单模(Single-mode-Multimode-Single-mode,SMS)光纤结构的模间干涉理论,提出了一种多参量光纤传感技术,实现了振动与应力、振动与温度的同时测量。在振动与应力同时测量时,振动频率误差为0.17 Hz,分离出的应力信号与实验操作吻合。在振动与线性降温、自然升温同时测量实验中,振动频率误差均在0.60 Hz以内。线性降温时,温度误差在7.13%以内;自然升温时,温度误差在8.03%以内。该方法结构简单,成本低廉,精度高,可推广用于其他光纤传感系统,实现多参量同时测量。 相似文献

Transmission characteristics of coated optical fiber depend on coating materials at low temperature. Loss increase phenomena are compared for UV-curable resin coated and silicone-nylon coated fibers. Different mechanisms induce loss increase depending on coating materials. Lateral forces are caused by shrinkage and Young's modulus increase at low temperature for UV-curable resin coated fibers. These forces cause fiber microbending for correlation lengths of not more than 1 mm. However, for silicone-nylon coated fibers, axial forces cause fiber buckling for correlation lengths longer than 5 mm. The relationship between the UV-coating structure and loss increase at low temperature is also described. 相似文献

The impact of differential group delay (DGD), induced by polarization-mode dispersion, on the performance of differential phase-shift keyed and on-off keyed modulation formats employing bit-to-bit alternate polarization (APol) is investigated by means of numerical simulation. Thereby, it is observed that the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) penalty due to DGD is almost independent of the power splitting ratio between the principal states of polarization (PSP) of a DGD emulator, when APol modulation formats are employed. Although this leads to a higher mean OSNR penalty for a given DGD value compared to conventional modulation formats, it is shown that the allowed mean DGD for required low system outage probabilities does not change significantly. 相似文献

An innovative technique for fabricating the optical fiber hybrid wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) coupler is presented. The device is comprised of two components, a wavelength division multiplexer and an optical fiber coupler, in a miniature stainless steel tube. The outstanding features of the ultra-low polarization dependent loss (PDL) under 0.05 dB and the compact size of ∅3.5 × 65 mm for bare-fiber type of package are accomplished by using the pioneering methodology combining the main techniques of twisted and parallel fusion processes in the fused biconical taper (FBT) technology. Besides, its miniaturization is more competitive in both of the applications of optical communication and sensing systems where a compact-sized package is required for extending the flexibility of installation. 相似文献

A bit error rate estimation method for optical fiber transmission systems employing all-optical 2R regenerators is presented. The method is based on the linearization of the nonlinear transfer function of the regenerators in three sections. The optical designs of resonant GaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have been determined for maximum extraction efficiency into typical plastic optical fiber of numerical aperture 0.5. An optimum extraction efficiency of 3.9% can be achieved for a practical resonant cavity LED (RCLED), taking account of current growth and processing considerations. The optimized device is a metal-active layer distributed Bragg reflector construction. Constructive interference effects from the top metal mirror are found to play the dominant role in efficiency enhancement. The extraction efficiency of an optimized resonant single-mirror LED is found to be 3.3%, indicating a small compromise in performance compared with the more complex RCLED structure. 相似文献
