Summary. In this paper, a hypersingular integral equation for the antiplane elasticity curved crack problems of circular regions is suggested. The original complex potential is formulated on a distribution of the density function along a curve, where the density function is the COD (crack opening displacement). The modified complex potential can also be established, provided the circular boundary is traction free or fixed. Using the proposed modified complex potential and the boundary condition, the hypersingular integral equation is obtained. The curve length method is suggested to solve the integral equation numerically. By using this method, the usual integration rule on the real axis can be used to the curved crack problems. In order to prove that the suggested method can be used to solve more complicated cases of the curved cracks, several numerical examples are given.  相似文献

In this paper, numerical solutions of a hypersingular integral equation for curved cracks in circular regions are presented. The boundary of the circular regions is assumed to be traction free or fixed. The suggested complex potential is composed of two parts, the principle part and the complementary part. The principle part can model the property of a curved crack in an infinite plate. For the case of the traction free boundary, the complementary part can compensate the traction on the circular boundary caused by the principle part. Physically, the proposed idea is similar to the image method in electrostatics. By using the crack opening displacement (COD) as the unknown function and traction as right hand term in the equation, a hypersingular integral equation for the curved crack problems in the circular regions is obtained. The equation is solved by using the curve length coordinate method. In order to prove that the suggested method can be used to solve more complicated cases of the curved cracks, several numerical examples are given.  相似文献

Two kinds of the complex potentials used for the crack problem of the elastic half-plane are suggested. First one is based on the distribution of dislocation along a curve, and second one is based on the distribution of crack opening displacement along a curve. Depending on the use of the complex potentials and the right hand term in the integral equation, two types of the singular integral equation for a single crack problem of elastic half-plane are derived. Regularization of the suggested singular integral equations gives three types of the Fredholm integral equation for the relevant problem. The weaker singular integral equation and the hypersingular integral equation are also introduced. Seven types of the integral equation are finally obtainable. The relation between the kernels of the various integral equations is also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, the numerical solution of the hypersingular integral equation using the body force method in curved crack problems is presented. In the body force method, the stress fields induced by two kinds of standard set of force doublets are used as fundamental solutions. Then, the problem is formulated as a system of integral equations with the singularity of the form r –2. In the numerical calculation, two kinds of unknown functions are approximated by the products of the fundamental density functions and power series. The calculation shows that the present method gives rapidly converging numerical results for curved cracks under various geometrical conditions. In addition, a method of evaluation of the stress intensity factors for arbitrary shaped curved cracks is proposed using the approximate replacement to a simple straight crack.  相似文献

The interaction of a curved crack with a circular elastic inclusion   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The solution to a curved matrix crack interacting with a circular elastic inclusion is presented. The problem is formulated using the Kolosov–Muskhelishvili complex stress potential technique where the crack is represented by an unknown distribution of dislocations. After an appropriate parameterization, the resulting singular integral equations are solved with the Lobatto-Chebyshev quadrature technique. The accuracy of the current solution is shown by comparing these results to previously published results. A preliminary investigation is conducted to study the effects of crack curvature and inclusion stiffness on the stress intensity factors and it is shown that in certain instances, the effect of the crack curvature and the inclusion stiffness are competing influences.  相似文献

This paper investigates the Zener–Stroh crack with curved configuration in plane elasticity. A singular integral equation is suggested to solve the problem. Formulae for evaluating the SIFs and T-stress at the crack tip are suggested. If the curve configuration is a product of a small parameter and a quadratic function, a perturbation method based on the singular integral equation is suggested. In the method, the singular integral equation can be expanded into a series with respect to the small parameter. Therefore, many singular integral equations can be separated from the same power order for the small parameter. These singular integral equations can be solved successively. The solution of the successive singular integral equations will provide results for stress intensity factors and T-stress at the crack tip. It is found that the behaviors for the solution of SIFs and T-stress in the Zener–Stroh crack and the Griffith crack are quite different. This can be seen from the presented comparison results.  相似文献

The distribution of stresses produced by an undulated crack in a plane elastic solid, and in particular, at its tips where stresses approach infinity, requires the solution of two coupled singular integral equations. Except for simple crack geometries such as rectilinear and circular arcs in infinite plates, for which explicit analytic solutions have been obtained, the integral equations require numerical solutions. We propose a treatment of the integral equations by Frobenius’ method, which is particularly suitable for evaluating the stress intensity factors of slightly curved cracks.  相似文献

Complex boundary integral equations (Fredholm‐type regular or Cauchy‐type singular or even Hadamard–Mangler‐type hypersingular) have been used for the numerical solution of general plane isotropic elasticity problems. The related Muskhelishvili and, particularly, Lauricella–Sherman equations are famous in the literature, but several more extensions of the Lauricella–Sherman equations have also been proposed. In this paper it is just mentioned that the stress and displacement components can be very accurately computed near either external or internal simple closed boundaries (for anyone of the above equations: regular or singular or hypersingular, but with a prerequisite their actual numerical solution) through the appropriate use of the even more classical elementary Cauchy theorem in complex analysis. This approach has been already used for the accurate numerical computation of analytic functions and their derivatives by Ioakimidis, Papadakis and Perdios (BIT 1991; 31 : 276–285), without applications to elasticity problems, but here the much more complicated case of the elastic complex potentials is studied even when just an appropriate non‐analytic complex density function (such as an edge dislocation/loading distribution density) is numerically available on the boundary. The present results are also directly applicable to inclusion problems, anisotropic elasticity, antiplane elasticity and classical two‐dimensional fluid dynamics, but, unfortunately, not to crack problems in fracture mechanics. Brief numerical results (for the complex potentials), showing the dramatic increase of the computational accuracy, are also displayed and few generalizations proposed. The present paper deals with the study and effective implementation for Stress Intensity Factor computation of a mixed boundary element approach based on the standard displacement integral equation and the hypersingular traction integral equation. Expressions for the evaluation of the hypersingular integrals along general curved quadratic line elements are presented. The integration is carried out by transformation of the hypersingular integrals into regular integrals, which are evaluated by standard quadratures, and simple singular integrals, which are integrated analytically. The generality of the method allows for the modelling of curved cracks and the use of straight line quarter-point elements. The Stress Intensity Factors can be computed very accurately from the Crack Opening Displacement at collocation points extremely close to the crack tip. Several examples with different crack geometries are analyzed. The computed results show that the proposed approach for Stress Intensity Factors evaluation is simple, produces very accurate solutions and has little dependence on the size of the elements near the crack tip.  相似文献

Accounts of the symmetric Galerkin approach to boundary element analysis (BEA) have recently been published. This paper attempts to add to the understanding of this method by addressing a series of fundamental issues associated with its potential computational efficiency. A new symmetric Galerkin theoretical formulation for both the (harmonic) heat conduction and the (biharmonic) elasticity problem that employs regularized singular and hypersingular boundary integral equations (BIEs) is presented. The novel use of regularized BIEs in the Galerkin context is shown to allow straightforward incorporation of curved, isoparametric elements. A symmetric reusable intrinsic sample point (RISP) numerical integration algorithm is shown to produce a Galerkin (i.e. double) integration strategy that is competitive with its counterpart (i.e. singular) integration procedure in the collocation BEA approach when the time saved in the symmetric equation solution phase is also taken into account. This new formulation is shown to be capable of employing hypersingular BIEs while obviating the requirement of C1 continuity, a fact that allows the employment of the popular continuous element technology. The behaviour of the symmetric Galerkin BEA method with regard to both direct and iterative equation solution operations is also addressed. A series of example problems are presented to quantify the performance of this symmetric approach, relative to the more conventional unsymmetric BEA, in terms of both accuracy and efficiency. It is concluded that appropriate implementations of the symmetric Galerkin approach to BEA indeed have the potential to be competitive with, if not superior to, collocation-based BEA, for large-scale problems.  相似文献

This paper provides a formulation for indirect BIEs in plane elasticity using single or double layer potentials and complex variable. There are two ways to obtain two kinds of layer and the relevant indirect BIEs. In the first way, the displacement expression at domain point is directly obtained from the Somigliana identity with necessary modification. In the second way, after placing some density functions, for example, the body force or the dislocation doublet, along the layers, one can obtain the displacement expression at domain point. For both single and double layers, the continuous or discontinuous properties for the displacement and traction are studied in detail when a moving point is passing through the boundaries. Formulations of the Dirichlet and the Neumann problems are proposed. The ranges for solving the boundary value problem by using the single or double layer potentials are clearly indicated. For the case of single layer, the degenerate scale problems for the finite multiply connected region and infinite multiply connected region are studied. For the case of double layer, a hypersingular BIE for crack can be formulated by assuming that the density functions are vanishing along a portion of boundary.  相似文献

Complex hypersingular integrals and integral equations in plane elasticity   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7
Summary Complex hypersingular (finite-part) integrals and integral equations are considered in the functional class of N. Muskhelishvili. The appropriate definition is given. Three regularization (equivalence) formulae follow from this definition. They reduce hypersingular integrals to singular ones and allow to derive hypersingular analogues for Sokhotsky-Plemelj's formulae and for conditions that are necessary and sufficient for the function to be piecewise holomorphic. Two approaches to get and investigate complex hypersingular equations follow from these results: one of them is based on the equivalence formulae; as to the other, it is based on above-mentioned conditions. As an example, authors' equation for plane elasticity is studied. The existence of a unique solution is stated and some advantages over singular equations are outlined. To solve hypersingular equations the quadrature rules are presented. The accuracy of different quadrature formulae is compared, the examples being used. They confirm the need to take into account asymptotics and to carry out a thorough analytical investigation to get safe numerical results.  相似文献

A system of singular integral equations is formulated based on the theory of complex variables with Cauchy kernels for the general problem of plane isotropic elastostatics. The integral equations are represented over the image of problems in multiply-connected regions. A numerical scheme is developed by introducing suitable complex polynomial functions for a discretized boundary curve and integrations are performed exactly for any arbitrary curved boundaries using complex contour integration. This reduces to an explicit set of complex linear algebraic equations with no need for numerical integrations. The major advantage of this technique is that numerical formulations is carried out in the complex plane and does not involve real variables which depend on are length. This yields highly accurate results in the presence of strong boundary curvature with steep stress gradients. Further, this formulation does not have boundary layer effects so that accurate stresses are obtained at any interior points in contrast to previous formulations where the accuracy deteriorates near the boundary points.  相似文献

This paper deals with some basic linear elastic fracture problems for an arbitrary-shaped planar crack in a three-dimensional infinite transversely isotropic piezoelectric media. The finite-part integral concept is used to derive hypersingular integral equations for the crack from the point force and charge solutions with distinct eigenvalues s i(i=1,2,3) of an infinite transversely isotropic piezoelectric media. Investigations on the singularities and the singular stress fields and electric displacement fields in the vicinity of the crack are made by the dominant-part analysis of the two-dimensional integrals. Thereafter the stress and electric displacement intensity factor K-fields and the energy release rate G are exactly obtained by using the definitions of stress and electric displacement intensity factors and the principle of virtual work, respectively. The hypersingular integral equations under axially symmetric mechanical and electric loadings are solved analytically for the case of a penny-shaped crack.  相似文献

A boundary element (BE) approach based on the traction boundary integral equation for the general solution of three-dimensional (3D) crack problems is presented. The hypersingular and strongly singular integrals appearing in the formulation are analytically transformed to yield line and surface integrals which are at most weakly singular. Regularization and analytical transformation of the boundary integrals is done prior to any boundary discretization. The integration process does not require of any change of coordinates and the resulting integrals can be numerically evaluated in a simple and efficient way. In order to show the generality, simplicity and robustness of the proposed approach, different flat and curved crack problems in infinite and finite domains are analyzed. A simple BE discretization strategy is adopted. The results obtained using rather course meshes are very accurate. The emphasis of this paper is on the effective application of the proposed BE approach and it is pretended to contribute to the transformation of hypersingular boundary element formulation in something as clear, general and easy to handle as the classical formulation but much better suited for fracture mechanics problems.  相似文献

Straight and curved cracks are modelled by direct formulation boundary elements, of geometry defined by Hermitian cubic shape functions. Displacement and traction are interpolated by the Hermitian functions, supplemented by singular functions which multiply stress intensity factors corresponding to the dominant modes of crack opening in which displacement is proportional to the square root of distance r from the crack tip, and subdominant modes in which it is proportional to r1·5. The singular functions extend over many boundary elements on each crack face. A nodal collocation scheme is used, in which additional boundary integral equations are obtained by differentiation of the equation obtained from Betti's theorem. The hypersingular kernels of the equations so derived are integrated by consideration of trial displacement fields of subdomains lying to either side of the crack. Examples are shown of the analysis of buried and edge cracks, to demonstrate the effects of modelling subdominant modes and extending singular shape functions over many elements.  相似文献

A Zener-Stroh curved crack is defined such that the crack undergoes an initial displacement discontinuity. A singular integral equation is suggested to solve the Zener-Stroh curved crack problem. General formulation for evaluating the stress intensity factors and the T-stresses at the crack tips of a Zener-Stroh curved crack is carried out. For the Zener-Stroh arc crack, T-stresses at the crack tips can be evaluated in a closed form.  相似文献

In this paper, elliptical cracks and rectangular cracks embedded in a three-dimensional infinite transversely isotropic piezoelectric solid are analyzed under combined mechanical tension and electric fields. The hypersingular integral equation method is used to solve the mentioned problems. The unknown function in the hypersingular integral equations is approximated with a product of the fundamental density function and polynomials. The hypersingular integrals can be numerically evaluated by using a method of Taylor series expansion. Therefore, the hypersingular integral equations for the crack problems can be solved immediately. Finally, numerical examples of the stress and electric displacement intensity factors as well as the energy release rates for these crack configurations are presented. The numerical results demonstrate the present approach to be very efficient.  相似文献

A two-dimensional (2D) time-domain boundary element method (BEM) is presented in this paper for transient analysis of elastic wave scattering by a crack in homogeneous, anisotropic and linearly elastic solids. A traction boundary integral equation formulation is applied to solve the arising initial-boundary value problem. A numerical solution procedure is developed to solve the time-domain boundary integral equations. A collocation method is used for the temporal discretization, while a Galerkin-method is adopted for the spatial discretization of the boundary integral equations. Since the hypersingular boundary integral equations are first regularized to weakly singular ones, no special integration technique is needed in the present method. Special attention of the analysis is devoted to the computation of the scattered wave fields. Numerical examples are given to show the accuracy and the reliability of the present time-domain BEM. The effects of the material anisotropy on the transient wave scattering characteristics are investigated.  相似文献

A time-domain boundary element method (BEM) for transient dynamic crack analysis in two-dimensional, homogeneous, anisotropic and linear elastic solids is presented in this paper. Strongly singular displacement boundary integral equations (DBIEs) are applied on the external boundary of the cracked body while hypersingular traction boundary integral equations (TBIEs) are used on the crack-faces. The present time-domain method uses the quadrature formula of Lubich for approximating the convolution integrals and a collocation method for the spatial discretization of the time-domain boundary integral equations. Strongly singular and hypersingular integrals are dealt with by a regularization technique based on a suitable variable change. Discontinuous quadratic quarter-point elements are implemented at the crack-tips to capture the local square-root-behavior of the crack-opening-displacements properly. Numerical examples for computing the dynamic stress intensity factors are presented and discussed to demonstrate the accuracy and the efficiency of the present method.  相似文献
