This paper presents REAL (Remotely Accessible Laboratory), a virtual laboratory accessible through the Internet. The objective of REAL is to provide remote access to a mobile robots infrastructure. REAL has been implemented as a new generation telecommunication service, not as a commonplace World Wide Web (WWW) application. As such, it employs a sophisticated access framework, a communication infrastructure able to support multimedia flows, and a component-based software construction. The architecture of REAL relies on open standards, such as WWW and its related technologies (HTTP, HTML, XML, Java, etc.) and a common object request broker architecture (CORBA). 相似文献

Telemedicine is evolving into an important tool in delivering services to emergency departments (EDs) in rural areas. However, we do not yet know what kinds of services can be effectively delivered or the degree to which these services might be useful. In this pilot study, a high-speed, high-quality video, 24-hour ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) network linked a rural ED to an ED of a major medical center. The objective was to measure the utilization of telemedical consulting services. In the field of rehabilitation robotics, a mobile personal robot represents an attractive solution, especially in economic terms in comparison with a desktop workstation. A manipulator arm mounted on a mobile robot can facilitate the restoration of the disabled user's manipulative function. In order both to encourage the person to participate in the task at hand and to be cost effective, close human-machine cooperation is essential. The person controls the robot via a remote station and develops strategies to successfully carry out a mission. The main problems encountered by the person during the execution of a mission are electing to change modes, and the mode transition itself. The authors have examined two aspects of this cooperation: 1) information exchange between human and machine for decision-making and 2) giving to operators complementary and redundant modes to command the system. An experiment has been conducted to study these two aspects. This paper focuses on the control of robot movements in an indoor environment and especially on localization parameters, human-like robot behavior, and the value of proposing complementary control modes to the operator 相似文献

对电力经济中的一些半结构化问题(政策研究)在计算机上通过人机交互的方式进行模拟实验,这是十几年来许多学者一直思考的问题。学者们分别从人工智能、神经网培、模糊数学、Agent等多个方面研究。探讨提高计算机的智能水平,取得了一定的进展和成果,随着计算机的发展及方法论的创新,它将成为现实。通过综合人工智能,神经网络、模糊数学等方法的特点,以智能工程及智能空间为理论框架,将政策实验归结为智能空间中的问题求解,达到在计算机上通过人机交互的方式进行横拟实验的目的。研究了建立电力经济智能模拟实验室的思路与框架,在实验案例中对电力需求侧管理的政策进行模拟实验,观察分析其实施效果,供决策者参考。 相似文献

The Whitehead/MIT Center for Genome Research is engaged in several high-throughput genome-mapping projects, including physical mapping of the human genome and genetic-linkage mapping of the mouse genome. The scale and complexity of the laboratory workflows for these projects make a laboratory information system a necessity. For example, the human physical mapping project has performed over 1.2 million experimental steps to date, many of which involve numerous biochemical assays. The result is a physical map containing over 13 thousand sequence-tagged-site markers, with a near-term goal of 15 thousand markers. These markers will likely be used as a starting point for producing a higher resolution map, which in turn will provide the raw material for sequencing the human genome. LabBase is a database management system (DBMS) tailored to the needs of laboratory information systems that support such projects. It is designed to make it easy to keep track of laboratory samples, the experimental steps performed on them, and the results of these experiments. LabBase is functionally specialised because it provides special support for the requirements of managing laboratory data over and above what would be provided by a generic, off-the-shelf DBMS 相似文献

Moving object detection with a mobile image sensor is an important task in robotics and computer vision, when considering the practical use of robotics in human environments. In this paper, we propose a robust method that detects moving objects in the environment using the omnidirectional depth information obtained by a mobile Stereo Omnidirectional System (SOS). In order to detect only the moving objects within the depth image that are obtained by a sensor in motion, we first estimate the ego‐motion of the sensor, and generate a predicted depth image for the current time from the depth obtained at the previous time by only considering the ego‐motion of the sensor. Then the predicted depth image is compared with the actual one obtained at the current time, and the inconsistent regions are detected as moving objects. When the sensor moves, occlusions will occur in the scene and they will cause false detections. However, these false detections can be suppressed by estimating the occlusion regions using the ego‐motion parameters of the sensor and the jump edges in the depth image.
