In this article, thermal buckling analysis of moderately thick functionally graded annular sector plate is studied. The equilibrium and stability equations are derived using first order shear deformation plate theory. These equations are five highly coupled partial differential equations. By using an analytical method, the coupled stability equations are replaced by four decoupled equations. Solving the decoupled equations and satisfying the boundary conditions, the critical buckling temperature is found analytically. To this end, it is assumed that the annular sector plate is simply supported in radial edges and it has arbitrary boundary conditions along the circular edges. Thermal buckling of functionally graded annular sector plate for two types of thermal loading, uniform temperature rise and gradient through the thickness, are investigated. Finally, the effects of boundary conditions, power law index, plate thickness, annularity and sector angle on the critical buckling temperature of functionally graded annular sector plates are discussed in details.

Hygrothermal and mechanical buckling responses of functionally graded (FG) plates resting on Winkler–Pasternak’s foundations are presented in this paper using a refined quasi-3D model. The effects due to transverse normal strain and shear deformation are both included. The present model exactly satisfies stress boundary conditions on the upper and lower surfaces of the FG plate without using shear correction factors. It is assumed that the material properties vary according to a power law of the thickness coordinate variable. The hygrothermal buckling equilibrium equations are derived from the principle of virtual work for FG plates resting on Winkler–Pasternak’s foundations with simply-supported boundary conditions. Two types of thermal and hygrothermal loading, uniform thermal and hygrothermal rise, linear thermal and hygrothermal distribution through the thickness are considered. Numerical results are presented to verify the accuracy of the present study. The effects played by Winkler–Pasternak’s parameters, plate aspect ratio, side-to-thickness ratio, gradient index, and loading type on the critical buckling of the FG plates are all investigated.  相似文献

This paper presents an analytical investigation on the buckling and postbuckling behaviors of thick functionally graded plates resting on elastic foundations and subjected to in-plane compressive, thermal and thermomechanical loads. Material properties are assumed to be temperature independent, and graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of constituents. The formulations are based on higher order shear deformation plate theory taking into account Von Karman nonlinearity, initial geometrical imperfection and Pasternak type elastic foundation. By applying Galerkin method, closed-form relations of buckling loads and postbuckling equilibrium paths for simply supported plates are determined. Analysis is carried out to show the effects of material and geometrical properties, in-plane boundary restraint, foundation stiffness and imperfection on the buckling and postbuckling loading capacity of the plates.  相似文献

The main purpose of this study is to investigate buckling and free vibration behaviors of radially functionally graded circular and annular sector thin plates subjected to uniform in-plane compressive loads and resting on the Pasternak elastic foundation. In-plane compressive loads may be applied to either radial, circumferential, or all edges of circular/annular sector plates. Based on the classical plate theory (CPT), critical buckling loads and fundamental frequencies of the circular/annular sector plates under simply-supported and clamped boundary conditions are obtained by using differential quadrature method (DQM). The inhomogeneity of the plate is characterized by taking exponential variation of Young’s modulus and mass density of the material along the radial direction whereas Poisson’s ratio is considered to be constant. Convergence study is carried out to demonstrate the stability of the present method. To confirm the excellent accuracy of the present approach, a few comparisons are made for limited cases between the present results and those available in literature. Critical buckling load and fundamental frequency parameters of the circular/annular sector thin plates are computed for different boundary conditions, various values of the material inhomogeneity constants, sector angles, and inner to outer radius ratios.  相似文献

A thermal postbuckling analysis is presented for a simply supported, moderately thick rectangular plate subjected to uniform or nonuniform tent-like temperature loading and resting on a softening nonlinear elastic foundation. The initial geometrical imperfection of the plate is taken into account. The formulations are based on the Reissner-Mindlin plate theory considering the first-order shear-deformation effect, and including plate-foundation interaction and thermal effects. The analysis uses a deflection-type perturbation technique to determine the thermal buckling loads and postbuckling equilibrium paths. Numerical examples are presented that relate to the performances of perfect and imperfect, moderately thick plates resting on softening nonlinear elastic foundations. The effects played by foundation stiffness, transverse shear deformation, plate aspect ratio, thermal load ratio and initial geometrical imperfections are studied. Typical results are presented in dimensionless graphical form and exhibit interesting imperfection sensitivity.  相似文献

Vibration analysis of a functionally graded rectangular plate resting on two parameter elastic foundation is presented here. The displacement filed based on the third order shear deformation plate theory is used. By considering the in-plane displacement components of an arbitrary material point on the mid-plane of the plate and using Hamilton’s principle, the governing equations of motion are obtained which are five highly coupled partial differential equations. An analytical approach is employed to decouple these partial differential equations. The decoupled equations of functionally graded rectangular plate resting on elastic foundation are solved analytically for levy type of boundary conditions. The numerical results are presented and discussed for a wide range of plate and foundation parameters. The results show that the Pasternak (shear) elastic foundation drastically changes the natural frequency. It is also observed that in some boundary conditions, the in-plane displacements have significant effects on natural frequency of thick functionally graded plates and they cannot be ignored.  相似文献

This article presents an investigation on the buckling of functionally graded (FG) truncated conical shells under an axial load resting on elastic foundations within the shear deformation theory (SDT). The governing equations are solved using the Galerkin method, and the closed-form solution of the axial buckling load for FG conical shells on elastic foundations within the SDT is obtained. Various numerical examples are presented and discussed to verify the accuracy of the closed-form solution in predicting dimensionless buckling loads for FG conical shells on the Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundations within the SDT.  相似文献

Thermal buckling analysis of a transversely graded circular plate attached to a centric partial elastic foundation is studied, analytically. Thermomechanical properties of the circular plate are distributed across the thickness based on a power law function. The governing equations of the plate are obtained by means of the classical plate theory. A conventional Winkler-type foundation is assumed to be in contact with the plate which acts in compression as well as in tension. Proper boundary conditions are chosen after pre-buckling analysis of the plate, and stability equations are established via the adjacent equilibrium criterion. To analyze the thermal stability problem, the plate is divided into two sections, a foundation-less domain and an in-contact region. An exact procedure is presented to accurately predict the critical buckling temperature as well as the buckled configuration of the plate. Analysis of various involved parameters including the Winkler parameter, foundation radius, power law index, and loading type is presented. It is concluded that while the loading is symmetric, in many cases, the buckled configuration of the plate is asymmetric.  相似文献

In the present article, an exact analytical solution for free vibration analysis of a moderately thick functionally graded (FG) annular sector plate is presented. Based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory, five coupled partial differential equations of motion are obtained without any simplification. Doing some mathematical manipulations, these highly coupled equations are converted into a sixth-order and a fourth-order decoupled partial differential equation. The decoupled equation are solved analytically for an FG annular sector plate with simply supported radial edges. The accurate natural frequencies of the FG annular sector plates with nine different boundary conditions are presented for several aspect ratios, some thickness/length ratios, different sector angles, and various power law indices. The results show that variations of the thickness, aspect ratio, sector angle, and boundary condition of the FG annular sector plates can change the vibration wave number. Also for an FG annular sector plate with one free edge, in opposite to the other boundary conditions, the natural frequency decreases with increasing the aspect ratio for small aspect ratios. Moreover, the mode shape contour plots are depicted for an FG annular sector plate with various boundary conditions. The accurate natural frequencies of FG annular sector plates are presented for the first time and can serve as a benchmark solution.  相似文献

Buckling analysis of perfect circular functionally graded plates with surface-bounded piezoelectric layers based on the first-order shear deformation theory is presented in this article. The material properties of the functionally graded (FG) layer are assumed to vary continuously through the plate thickness by distribution of power law of the volume fraction of the constituents. The plate is assumed to be under constant electrical field and two types of thermal loadings, namely, the uniform temperature rise and nonlinear temperature gradient through the thickness. Also, the stability of a plate under radial mechanical compressive force is examined. The equilibrium and stability equations are derived based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory using a variational approach. The boundary condition of the plate as an immovable type of the clamped edge is considered. Resulting equations are employed to obtain the closed-form solution for the critical buckling temperature for each loading case. The effects of electric field, piezo-to-host thickness ratio, and power law index of functionally graded plates subjected to thermo-mechanical-electrical loads are investigated. The results are compared with the classical plate theory and verified with the available data in the open literature.  相似文献

Thermo-mechanical buckling analysis of the orthotropic auxetic plates (with negative Poisson ratios) has not been performed so far, especially, in the hygrothermal environments. The complexity increases when the auxetic plate is fabricated from functionally graded orthotropic materials and surrounded by an elastic foundation. The aforementioned analyses are carried out in the present research, for the first time. The buckling loads may be uniaxial or biaxial ones. Moreover, temperature and moisture dependent material properties are considered. The pre-buckling effects are also considered in the paper. The high-order shear-deformation governing differential equations are solved based on a new differential quadrature method (DQM). The resulting solution may cover many practical simpler applications. A comprehensive parametric study is accomplished for a wide range of geometric and material properties parameters and various boundary conditions. Results reveal that the hygrothermal conditions lead to degradations in the material properties and buckling strengths, especially for higher gradation exponents, the elastic foundation may enhance the buckling behavior through monitoring the buckling pattern, the buckling load decreases as the orthotropy angle increases, and the auxeticity has reduced the buckling strength for the employed material and environmental information.  相似文献

As a first endeavor, the thermal buckling and postbuckling analysis of functionally graded (FG) annular plates with material properties graded in the radial direction is presented. The formulation is derived based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and the geometrical nonlinearity is modeled using Green’s strain in conjunction with von Karman’s assumptions. The material properties are temperature-dependent and graded according to the power law distribution. It is assumed that the temperature varies along the radial direction. Using the virtual work principle, the pre-buckling and postbuckling equilibrium equations and the related boundary conditions are derived. Differential quadrature method (DQM) as an efficient numerical technique is adopted to solve the governing equations. The presented formulation and the method of solution are validated by performing convergence and comparison studies with available results in the literature. Finally, the effects of volume fraction index, geometrical parameters, mechanical/thermal properties of the constituent materials and boundary conditions on the thermal buckling and postbuckling behavior of the radially graded annular plate are evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

Free vibration analysis of simply supported functionally graded plates (FGP) resting on a Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundation are examined by a new higher shear deformation theory in this paper. Present theory exactly satisfies stress boundary conditions on the top and the bottom of the plate. The material properties change continuously through the thickness of the plate, which can vary according to power law, exponentially or any other formulations in this direction. The equation of motion for FG rectangular plates resting on elastic foundation is obtained through Hamilton’s principle. The closed form solutions are obtained by using Navier technique, and then fundamental frequencies are found by solving the results of eigenvalue problems. The numerical results obtained through the present analysis for free vibration of functionally graded plates on elastic foundation are presented, and compared with the ones available in the literature.  相似文献

This article studies nonlinear dynamic stability of carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (CNTRC) plates resting on an elastic foundation. The single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are aligned and distributed in the form of uniformly distributed (UD) and functionally graded (FG) reinforcements. The governing equations are established based on classic plate theory, which is converted to a Mathieu-type equation by using a two-step perturbation technique, and then solved by adopting an incremental harmonic balanced (IHB) method. In numerical results, the effects of nonlinear geometric factor, distribution and fraction volume of CNTs, and foundation stiffness on principle dynamic unstable regions are discussed.  相似文献

In this article, an analytical method for buckling analysis of thin functionally graded (FG) rectangular plates is presented. It is assumed that the material properties of the plate vary through the thickness of the plate as a power function. Based on the classical plate theory (Kirchhoff theory), the governing equations are obtained for functionally graded rectangular plates using the principle of minimum total potential energy. The resulting equations are decoupled and solved for rectangular plate with different loading conditions. It is assumed that the plate is simply supported along two opposite edges and has arbitrary boundary conditions along the other edges. The critical buckling loads are presented for a rectangular plate with different boundary conditions, various powers of FGM and some aspect ratios.  相似文献

Exact solutions for functionally graded thick plates are presented based on the three-dimensional theory of elasticity. The plate is assumed isotropic at any point, while material properties to vary exponentially through the thickness. The system of governing partial differential equations is reduced to an ordinary one about the thickness coordinate by expanding the state variables into infinite dual series of trigonometric functions. Interactions between the Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundation and the plate are treated as boundary conditions. The problem is finally solved using the state space method. Effects of stiffness of the foundation, loading cases, and gradient index on mechanical responses of the plates are discussed. It is established that elastic foundations affects significantly the mechanical behavior of functionally graded thick plates. Numerical results presented in the paper can serve as benchmarks for future analyses of functionally graded thick plates on elastic foundations.  相似文献

A hygrothermal bending analysis is presented for a functionally graded material (FGM) plate resting on elastic foundations. The elastic coefficients, thermal coefficient and moisture expansion coefficient of the plate are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction. The equilibrium equations are given and a number of examples are solved to illustrate bending response of Titanium/Zirconia plates subjected to hygro-thermo-mechanical effects and resting on elastic foundations. The influences played by many parameters are investigated.  相似文献

This paper presents buckling analysis of a two-dimensional functionally graded cylindrical shell reinforced by axial stiffeners (stringer) under combined compressive axial and transverse uniform distributive load. The shell material properties are graded in the direction of thickness and length according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Primarily, the third order shear deformation theory (TSDT) is used to derive the equilibrium and stability equations. Since there is no closed form solution, the numerical differential quadrature method, (DQM), is applied for solving the stability equations. Initially, the obtained results for an isotropic shell using DQM were verified against those given in the literature for simply supported boundary conditions. The effects of load, geometrical and stringer parameters along with FG power index in the various boundary conditions on the critical buckling load have been studied. The study of results confirms that, stringers have significant effects on critical buckling load.  相似文献

A thermal buckling analysis is presented for functionally graded rectangular plates that are integrated with surface-bonded piezoelectric actuators and are subjected to the combined action of thermal load and constant applied actuator voltage. The temperature-dependent material properties of the functionally graded plate are assumed to vary as a power form of the thickness coordinate. Derivation of the equations is based on the third-order shear deformation plate theory. Results for the critical buckling temperatures are obtained in closed-form solution, which are convenient to be used in engineering design applications. The effects of the applied actuator voltage, plate geometry, and volume fraction exponent of the functionally graded material on the buckling temperature are investigated.  相似文献
