In this article, an exact analytical solution for buckling analysis of moderately thick functionally graded (FG) sector plates resting on Winkler elastic foundation is presented. The equilibrium equations are derived according to the first order shear deformation plate theory. Because of the coupling between the bending and stretching equilibrium equations of FG plates, these plates have deflection under in-plane loads lower than the critical buckling load acting on the mid-plane. The conditions under which FG plates remain flat in the pre-buckling configuration are investigated and the stability equations are obtained based on the flat plate assumption in the pre-buckling state. The stability equations are simplified into decoupled equations and solved analytically for plates having simply supported boundary condition on the straight edges. The critical buckling load is obtained and the effects of geometrical parameters and power law index on the stability of functionally graded sector plates are studded. The results for the critical buckling load of moderately thick functionally graded sector plates resting on elastic foundation are reported for the first time.  相似文献

In this article, a new exact closed-form procedure is presented to solve free vibration analysis of functionally graded rectangular thick plates based on the Reddy’s third-order shear deformation plate theory while the plate has two opposite edges simply supported (i.e., Lévy-type rectangular plates). The elasticity modulus and mass density of the plate are assumed to vary according to a power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents whereas Poisson’s ratio is constant. Based on the present solution, five governing complicated partial differential equations of motion were exactly solved by introducing the auxiliary and potential functions and using the method of separation of variables. The validity and high accuracy of the present solutions are investigated by comparing some of the present results with their counterparts reported in literature and the 3-D finite element analysis. It is obvious that the present exact solution can accurately predict not only the out of plane, but also the in-plane modes of FG plate. Furthermore, a new eigenfrequency parameter is defined having its special own characteristics. Finally, the effects of boundary conditions, thickness to length ratio, aspect ratio and the power law index on the frequency parameter of the plate are presented.  相似文献

In this study, free vibration analysis of initially stressed thick simply supported functionally graded curved panel resting on two-parameter elastic foundation (Pasternak model), subjected in thermal environment is studied using the three-dimensional elasticity formulation. The material properties are temperature dependent and the temperature is assumed to have uniform and non-uniform distributions through the thickness direction of the curved panel. In order to discretize the governing equations, the differential quadrature method in the thickness direction and the trigonometric functions in longitudinal and tangential directions in conjunction of the three-dimensional form of the Hamilton’s principle are used. The convergence of the method is demonstrated and to validate the results, comparisons are made with the available solutions for both isotropic and functionally graded material (FGM) curved panels. By examining the results of thick FGM curved panels for various geometrical parameters and temperature distribution models with the inclusion of supporting elastic foundation, the influence of these parameters and in particular, those due to functionally graded material (FGM) parameters are studied.  相似文献

Exact solutions for functionally graded thick plates are presented based on the three-dimensional theory of elasticity. The plate is assumed isotropic at any point, while material properties to vary exponentially through the thickness. The system of governing partial differential equations is reduced to an ordinary one about the thickness coordinate by expanding the state variables into infinite dual series of trigonometric functions. Interactions between the Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundation and the plate are treated as boundary conditions. The problem is finally solved using the state space method. Effects of stiffness of the foundation, loading cases, and gradient index on mechanical responses of the plates are discussed. It is established that elastic foundations affects significantly the mechanical behavior of functionally graded thick plates. Numerical results presented in the paper can serve as benchmarks for future analyses of functionally graded thick plates on elastic foundations.  相似文献

This work addresses a free vibration analysis of functionally graded beams via several axiomatic refined theories. The material properties of the beam are assumed to vary continuously on the cross-section according to a power law distribution in terms of the volume fraction of the material constituents. Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio and density can vary along one or two dimensions all together or independently. The three-dimensional kinematic field is derived in a compact form as a generic N-order polynomial approximation. The governing differential equations and the boundary conditions are derived by variationally imposing the equilibrium via the Principle of Virtual Displacements. They are written in terms of a fundamental nucleo that does not depend upon the approximation order. A Navier-type, closed form solution is adopted. Higher-order displacements-based theories that account for non-classical effects are formulated. Classical beam models, such as Euler–Bernoulli’s and Timoshenko’s, are obtained as particular cases. Bending, torsion and axial modes are investigated. Slender as well as short beams are considered. Numerical results highlight the effect of different material distributions on natural frequencies and mode shapes and the accuracy of the proposed models.  相似文献

This paper deals with the dynamic response of initially stressed functionally graded rectangular thin plates subjected to partially distributed impulsive lateral loads and without or resting on an elastic foundation. Material properties are assumed to be temperature-dependent, and graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The plate is assumed to be clamped on two opposite edges and the remaining two edges may be simply supported or clamped or may have elastic rotational edge constraints. The formulations are based on classical small deflection plate theory, and account for the plate–foundation interaction effects by a two-parameter model (Pasternak-type). A one-dimensional differential quadrature approximation and the Galerkin procedure are employed in the free vibration analysis, and the Modal Superposition Method is used to determine the transient response of the plate structure. A parametric study is carried out. Effects of constituent volume fraction index, foundation stiffness, plate aspect ratio, the shape and duration of impulsive load, as well as the initial membrane stresses on the dynamic response of FGM plates are studied. Comprehensive numerical results for silicon nitride/stainless steel rectangular plates are presented in dimensionless tabular and graphical forms.  相似文献

In this article, a three-dimensional solution is presented for the bending analysis of functionally graded and layered neutral magneto-electro-elastic plates resting on two-parameter elastic foundations, considering imperfect interfacial bonding. The equations of motion, Gauss's equations for electrostatics and magnetostatics, and boundary and interface conditions are satisfied exactly regardless of the number of layers. No assumptions on deformations, stresses, and magnetic and electric fields along the thickness direction are introduced. The interfacial imperfection is modeled using a generalized spring layer. The state-space method is employed for solving the governing partial differential equations. Effects of a two-parameter elastic foundation, gradient index, bonding imperfection, and applied mechanical and electrical loads on the response of the functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic plate are discussed. The obtained exact solution can serve as a benchmark for assessing the accuracy of layered functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic plate theories.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate three-dimensional free vibration of functionally graded annular plates with different boundary conditions using the Chebyshev–Ritz method, in which a set of duplicate Chebyshev polynomial series multiplied by the boundary function satisfying the boundary conditions are chosen as the trial functions of the displacement components. Two kinds of variations of material properties in the thickness direction of the plates are considered. Convergence of the Chebyshev–Ritz method is checked. Numerical results are given and compared with the previously published solutions.  相似文献

Nonlinear vibration, nonlinear bending and postbuckling analyses are presented for a sandwich plate with FGM face sheets resting on an elastic foundation in thermal environments. The material properties of FGM face sheets are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The governing equation of the plate that includes plate-foundation interaction is solved by a two-step perturbation technique. The thermal effects are also included and the material properties of both FGM face sheets and homogeneous core layer are assumed to be temperature-dependent. The numerical results reveal that the foundation stiffness and temperature rise have a significant effect on the natural frequency, buckling load, postbuckling and nonlinear bending behaviors of sandwich plates. The results also reveal that the core-to-face sheet thickness ratio and the volume fraction distribution of FGM face sheets have a significant effect on the natural frequency, buckling load and postbuckling behavior of the sandwich plate, whereas this effect is less pronounced for the nonlinear bending, and is marginal for the nonlinear to linear frequency ratios of the same sandwich plate.  相似文献

The free‐vibration characteristics of rectangular thick plates resting on elastic foundations have been studied, based on the three‐dimensional, linear and small strain elasticity theory. The foundation is described by the Pasternak (two‐parameter) model. The Ritz method is used to derive the eigenvalue equation of the rectangular plate by augmenting the strain energy of the plate with the potential energy of the elastic foundation. The Chebyshev polynomials multiplied by a boundary function are selected as the admissible functions of the displacement functions in each direction. The approach is suitable for rectangular plates with arbitrary boundary conditions. Convergence and comparison studies have been performed on square plates on elastic foundations with different boundary conditions. It is shown that the present method has a rapid convergent rate, stable numerical operation and very high accuracy. Parametric investigations on the dynamic behaviour of clamped square thick plates on elastic foundations have been carried out in detail, with respect to different thickness–span ratios and foundation parameters. Some results found for the first time have been given and some important conclusions have been drawn. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article, thermal buckling analysis of moderately thick functionally graded annular sector plate is studied. The equilibrium and stability equations are derived using first order shear deformation plate theory. These equations are five highly coupled partial differential equations. By using an analytical method, the coupled stability equations are replaced by four decoupled equations. Solving the decoupled equations and satisfying the boundary conditions, the critical buckling temperature is found analytically. To this end, it is assumed that the annular sector plate is simply supported in radial edges and it has arbitrary boundary conditions along the circular edges. Thermal buckling of functionally graded annular sector plate for two types of thermal loading, uniform temperature rise and gradient through the thickness, are investigated. Finally, the effects of boundary conditions, power law index, plate thickness, annularity and sector angle on the critical buckling temperature of functionally graded annular sector plates are discussed in details.  相似文献

The objective of this article is to present a Fourier-Ritz method-based solution approach for the free vibration analysis of moderately thick, functionally graded (FG) rectangular plates with general boundary restraints and internal line supports. Under the current framework, regardless of boundary conditions, each of the displacements and rotations of the FG plates is invariantly expressed as a modified Fourier series in both directions. Then, the accurate solutions are obtained using the Ritz procedure based on the energy function of the plates. The convergence and accuracy of the present method are verified by a considerable number of convergence tests and comparisons.

In this article, the free vibration and dynamic response of simply supported functionally graded piezoelectric cylindrical panel impacted by time-dependent blast pulses are analytically investigated. Using Hamilton’s principle, the equations of motion based on the first-order shear deformation theory are derived. Also, Maxwell’s electricity equation is taken as one of the governing equations. Three sets of electric surface conditions including closed circuit and two mixtures of closed and open circuit surface conditions are considered. By introducing an analytical approach and using the Fourier series expansions, the Laplace transform and Laplace inverse method, the solution of unknown variables are obtained in the real time domain based on a combination of system frequencies. Finally, the effects of various electric surface conditions, geometric parameters and the material power law index on the free vibration and transient response of functionally graded piezoelectric cylindrical panels subjected to various impulsive loads are examined in detail.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate free vibration behaviors of functionally graded sector plates with general boundary conditions in the context of three-dimensional theory of elasticity. Generally, the material properties of functionally graded sector plates are assumed to vary continuously and smoothly in thickness direction. However, the changes in the material properties may occur in the other directions, such as radial direction. Therefore, two types of functionally graded annular sector plates are considered in the paper. In this work, both the Voigt model and Mori-Tanaka scheme are adopted to evaluate the effective material properties. Each of displacements of annular sector plate, regardless of boundary conditions, is expressed as modified Fourier series which consists of three-dimensional Fourier cosine series plus several auxiliary functions introduced to overcome the discontinuity problems of the displacement and its derivatives at edges. To ensure the validity and accuracy of the method, numerous examples for isotropic and functionally graded sector plates with various boundary conditions are presented. Furthermore, new results for functionally graded sector plates with elastic restraints are given. The effects of the material profiles and boundary conditions on the free vibration of the functionally sector plates are also studied.  相似文献

This paper mainly Presents free vibration analyses of metal and ceramic functionally graded plates with the local Kriging meshless method. The Kriging technique is employed to construct shape functions which possess Kronecker delta function property and thus make it easy to implement essential boundary conditions. The eigenvalue equations of free vibration problems are based on the first-order shear deformation theory and the local Petrov–Galerkin formulation. The cubic spline function is used as the weight function which vanishes on internal boundaries of local quadrature domains and hence simplifies the implementation. Convergence studies are conducted to examine the stability of the present method. Three types of functionally graded plates – square, skew and quadrilateral plates – are considered as numerical examples to demonstrate the versatility of the present method for free vibration analyses.  相似文献

Exact solutions are presented to study the free vibration of a beam made of symmetric functionally graded materials. The formulation used is based on a unified higher order shear deformation theory. Material properties are taken to be temperature-dependent, and vary continuously through the thickness according to a power law distribution (P-FGM), or an exponential law distribution (E-FGM) or a sigmoid law distribution (S-FGM). The beam is assumed to be initially stressed by a temperature rise through the thickness. Temperature field is considered constant in xy plane of the beam. Hamilton’s principle is used to derive the governing equations of motion. Free vibration frequencies are obtained by solving analytically a system of ordinary differential equations, for different boundary conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, nonlinear static and free vibration analysis of functionally graded piezoelectric plates has been carried out using finite element method under different sets of mechanical and electrical loadings. The plate with functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) is assumed to be graded through the thickness by a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Only the geometrical nonlinearity has been taken into account and electric potential is assumed to be quadratic across the FGPM plate thickness. The governing equations are obtained using potential energy and Hamilton’s principle that includes elastic and piezoelectric effects. The finite element model is derived based on constitutive equation of piezoelectric material accounting for coupling between elasticity and electric effect using higher order plate elements. The present finite element is modeled with displacement components and electric potential as nodal degrees of freedom. Results are presented for two constituent FGPM plate under different mechanical boundary conditions. Numerical results for PZT-4/PZT-5H plate are given in dimensionless graphical forms. Effects of material composition and boundary conditions on nonlinear response are also studied. The numerical results obtained by the present model are in good agreement with the available solutions reported in the literature.  相似文献

This paper presents a free vibration analysis of functionally graded plates (FGPs) resting on elastic foundation. The displacement field is based on a novel non-polynomial higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT). The elastic foundation follows the Pasternak (two-parameter) mathematical model. The governing equations are obtained through the Hamilton’s principle. These equations are then solved via Navier-type, closed form solutions. The fundamental frequencies are found by solving the eigenvalue problem. The degree of precision of the current solution can be noticed by comparing it with the 3D and other closed form solutions available in the literature.  相似文献
