During a two day strategic workshop in February 2018,22 information retrieval researchers met to discuss the future challenges and opportunities within the field.The outcome is a list of potential research directions,project ideas,and challenges.This report describes the major conclusions we have obtained during the workshop.A key result is that we need to open our mind to embrace a broader IR field by rethink the definition of information,retrieval,user,system,and evaluation of IR.By providing detailed discussions on these topics,this report is expected to inspire our IR researchers in both academia and industry,and help the future growth of the IR research community.  相似文献

Abstract: Open collaboration-based R&D (research and development) has become an important issue recently. Researchers' performance is necessary to be understood by analyzing researchers' paper outcome. To drive successful outcomes and co-research, researchers' paper outcome should be autonomously established. Therefore we propose an approach to manage and update easily paper outcome of researchers. The proposed approach makes researchers search their paper using the Google Scholar's opened API (application program interface) and update their outcome. Since researchers autonomously can establish the list of their own papers in our service using open service, researchers' personal outcome can be efficiently managed.  相似文献

Compilers are widely-used infrastructures in accelerating the software development,and expected to be trustworthy.In the literature,various testing technologies have been proposed to guarantee the quality of compilers.However,there remains an obstacle to comprehensively characterize and understand compiler testing.To overcome this obstacle,we propose a literature analysis framework to gain insights into the compiler testing area.First,we perform an extensive search to construct a dataset related to compiler testing papers.Then,we conduct a bibliometric analysis to analyze the productive authors,the influential papers,and the frequently tested compilers based on our dataset.Finally,we utilize association rules and collaboration networks to mine the authorships and the communities of interests among researchers and keywords.Some valuable results are reported.We find that the USA is the leading country that contains the most influential researchers and institutions.The most active keyword is“random testing”.We also find that most researchers have broad interests within small-scale collaborators in the compiler testing area.  相似文献

The International Conference on Knowledge Science, Engineering and Management (KSEM), which was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2010, was the fourth success in the series of such conferences. The conference focuses on the three themes of knowledge science, engineering and management, covering a wider range of research topics in the KSEM-related areas. This event offered an invaluable opportunity to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners to present original work, the latest advances on knowledge representation, pioneered knowledge engineering, knowledge related systems, as well as discuss and debate practical challenges in deploying knowledge-based systems and research opportunities in the research community. To highlight research activities drawn by this event and provide an insight into the latest developments in the related areas, we present this special issue which is dedicated to all the delegates and researchers in the community who made the conference a success. We selected more than 10 papers that were presented in the conference and asked the authors to extend these papers. After careful review, we finally select 6 papers to be included in this special issue. This collection of extended versions of papers consists of the KSEM2010''s finest papers and covers the prominent topics of knowledge representation and reasoning, ontology engineering and applications, data mining and knowledge discovery. SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) are technologies for enabling innovative network architectures. Nevertheless, a fundamental problem in instantiation of VNs (Virtual Networks), performed by NFV, is an optimal allocation of resources offered by one or more SDN domain networks. The process of instantiation of VNs is performed in several phases, including splitting and mapping algorithms. For each one of these phases, researchers have developed algorithms, being possible to obtain different results combining them. This paper introduces a modular and flexible graphical discrete event simulation tool for solving the complete virtual resource allocation in SDN domain networks problem. A Java-based tool has been developed to integrate existing and future algorithms related researchers can select the appropriate algorithm in each phase performance evaluation of the selected and proposed algorithms. to each phase of the process. The study on database technologies, or more generally, the technologies of data and information management, is an important and active research field. Recently, many exciting results have been reported. In this fast growing field, Chinese researchers play more and more active roles. Research papers from Chinese scholars, both in China and abroad,appear in prestigious academic forums.In this paper,we, nine young Chinese researchers working in the United States, present concise surveys and report our recent progress on the selected fields that we are working on.Although the paper covers only a small number of topics and the selection of the topics is far from balanced, we hope that such an effort would attract more and more researchers,especially those in China,to enter the frontiers of database research and promote collaborations.
