In the present work, we have deposited calcium doped zinc oxide thin films by magnetron sputtering technique using nanocrystalline particles elaborated by sol–gel method as a target material. In the first step, the nanoparticles were synthesized by sol–gel method using supercritical drying in ethyl alcohol. The structural properties studied by X-ray diffractometry indicates that Ca doped ZnO has a polycrystalline hexagonal wurzite structure with a grain size of about 30 nm. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements have shown that the synthesized CZO is a nanosized powder. Then, thin films were deposited onto glass substrates by rf-magnetron sputtering at ambient temperature. The influence of RF sputtering power on structural, morphological, electrical, and optical properties were investigated. It has been found that all the films deposited were polycrystalline with a hexagonal wurtzite structure and preferentially oriented in the (0 0 2) crystallographic direction. They have a typical columnar structure and a very smooth surface. The as-deposited films show a high transmittance in the visible range over 85% and low electrical resistivity at room temperature.  相似文献

Titanium oxide thin films (1–4 μm) were deposited on the porous Hastelloy-X substrates using the pulsed – DC magnetron sputtering technique and characterized by X–ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methods. Firstly, the films were deposited at different distances between the magnetron and the substrate, as magnetron current and pressure in the deposition chamber were constant. The distance between the magnetron and the substrate was changed from 3 cm to 7 cm, and the deposition rate varied between 10.1 nm/min to 6.0 nm/min. Secondly, pressure influence for the deposition rate was investigated. The deposition rate decreased nearly 15% with the decrease of oxygen pressure from 1.3 to 6.0 Pa. Finally, the influence of the bias (applied to the substrate for the increase of deposition rate) on thin films phase and microstructure was investigated. The experimental results showed that formation of pure titanium oxide thin films was observed in all experimental cases. Only crystallite sizes and orientation were changed. The results showed that there is a possibility to change porosity and uniformity of the growing film by changing oxygen partial pressure during deposition or bias application to the substrate. The existence of columnar boundaries and nanocrystalline structure in the films was observed.  相似文献

In this work, sputtered TiC/amorphous C thin films have been developed in order to be applied as potential barrier coating for interfering of Ti ions from pure Ti or Ti alloy implants. Our experiments were based on magnetron sputtering method, because the vacuum deposition provides great flexibility for manipulating material chemistry and structure, leading to films and coatings with special properties. The films have been deposited on silicon (001) substrates with 300 nm thick oxidized silicon sublayer at 200 °C deposition temperature as model substrate. Transmission electron microscopy has been used for structural investigations. Thin films consisted of ~ 20 nm TiC columnar crystals embedded by 5 nm thin amorphous carbon matrix. MG63 osteoblast cells have been applied for in vitro study of TiC nanocomposites. The cell culture tests give strong evidence of thin films biocompatibility.  相似文献

Gallium-doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Ga) films were prepared on glass substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. The effect of growth temperature on microstructure, optical and electrical properties of the films was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV–visible spectrophotometer and four-point probe. The results show that all the films are polycrystalline and (002) oriented, and that the growth temperature significantly affects the microstructure and optoelectrical properties of the films. The film deposited at 670 K has the largest grain size of 71.9 nm, the lowest resistivity of 8.3 × 10? 4 Ω?cm and the highest figure of merit of 2.1 × 10? 2 Ω? 1. Furthermore, the optical energy gaps and optical constants were determined by optical characterization methods. The dispersion behavior of the refractive index was also studied using the Sellmeir's dispersion model and the oscillator parameters of the films were obtained.  相似文献

Natively textured surface aluminum doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Al) thin films were directly deposited via pulsed direct current (DC) reactive magnetron sputtering on glass substrates. During the reactive sputtering process, the oxygen gas flow rate was varied from 8.5 sccm to 11.0 sccm. The influences of oxygen flow rate on the structural, electrical and optical properties of naturally textured ZnO:Al TCO thin films with milky surface were investigated in detail. Gradual oxygen growth (GOG) technique was developed in the reactive sputtering process for textured ZnO:Al thin films. The light-scattering ability and optical transmittance of the natively textured ZnO:Al TCO thin films can be improved through gradual oxygen growth method while maintaining a low sheet resistance. Typical natively textured ZnO:Al TCO thin film with crater-like surface exhibits low sheet resistance (Rs  4 Ω), high transmittance (Ta > 85%) in visible optical region and high haze value (12.1%).  相似文献

Zinc oxide thin films have been obtained by pulsed laser ablation of a ZnO target in O2 ambient at a pressure of 0.13 Pa using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. ZnO thin films deposited on Si (1 1 1) substrates were treated at annealing temperatures from 400 °C up to 800 °C after deposition. The structural and optical properties of deposited thin films have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, photoluminescence spectra, resistivity and IR absorption spectra. The results show that the obtained thin films possess good single crystalline with hexagonal structure at annealing temperature 600 °C. Two emission peaks have been observed in photoluminescence spectra. As the post-annealing temperature increase, the UV emission peaks at 368 nm is improved and the intensity of blue emission at 462 nm decreases, which corresponds to the increasing of the optical quality of ZnO film and the decreasing of Zn interstitial defect, respectively. The best optical quality for ZnO thin films emerge at post-annealing temperature 600 °C in our experiment. The measurement of resistivity also proves the decrease of defects of ZnO films. The IR absorption spectra of sample show the typical Zn–O bond bending vibration absorption at wavenumber 418 cm−1.  相似文献

Single-, bi- and tri-layered films of Ti–TiO2 system were deposited by d.c. pulsed magnetron sputtering from metallic Ti target in an inert Ar or reactive Ar + O2 atmosphere. The nominal thickness of each layer was 50 nm. The chemical composition and its depth profile were determined by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS). Crystallographic structure was analysed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) at glancing incidence. X-ray reflectometry (XRR) was used as a complementary method for the film thickness and density evaluation. Modelling of the optical reflectivity spectra of Ti–TiO2 thin films deposited onto Si(1 1 1) substrates provided an independent estimate of the layer thickness. The combined analysis of RBS, XRR and reflectivity spectra indicated the real thickness of each layer less than 50 nm with TiO2 film density slightly lower than the corresponding bulk value. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) cross-sectional images revealed the columnar growth of TiO2 layers. Thickness estimated directly from SEM studies was found to be in a good agreement with the results of RBS, XRR and reflectivity spectra.  相似文献

Aluminum doped ZnO thin films (ZnO:Al) deposited on flexible substrates are suitable to be used as transparent conductive oxide (TCO) thin films in solar cells because of the excellent optical and electrical properties. TPT films are a kind of composite materials and are usually used as encapsulation material of solar panels. In this paper, ZnO:Al film was firstly deposited on transparent TPT substrate by RF magnetron sputtering. The structural, optical, and electrical properties of the film were investigated by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV–visible spectrophotometer, as well as Hall Effect Measurement System. Results revealed that the obtained film had a hexagonal structure and a highly preferred orientation with the c-axis perpendicular to the substrate. Also, the film showed a high optical transmittance over 80% in the visible region and a resistivity of about 3.03 × 10? 1 Ω·cm.  相似文献

Fluorine-doped ZnO transparent conductive thin films were successfully deposited on glass substrate by radio frequency magnetron sputtering of ZnF2. The effects of rapid thermal annealing in vacuum on the optical and electrical properties of fluorine-doped ZnO thin films have been investigated. X-ray diffraction spectra indicate that no fluorine compounds, such as ZnF2, except ZnO were observed. The specimen annealed at 500 °C has the lowest resistivity of 6.65 × 10? 4 Ω cm, the highest carrier concentration of 1.95 × 1021 cm? 3, and the highest energy band gap of 3.46 eV. The average transmittance in the visible region of the F-doped ZnO thin films as-deposited and annealed is over 90%.  相似文献

ZnO thin films were deposited on porous silicon by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy using different radio frequency power settings. Optical emission spectrometry was applied to study the characteristics of the oxygen plasma, and the effects of the radio frequency power on the properties of the ZnO thin films were evaluated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and photoluminescence. The grain sizes for radio frequency powers of 100, 200, and 300 W were 46, 48, and 62 nm, respectively. In addition, the photoluminescence intensities of the ultraviolet and the visible range increased at 300 W, because the density of the atomic oxygen transitions increased. The quality of the ZnO thin films was enhanced, but the deep-level emission peaks increased with increasing radio frequency power. The structural and optical properties of the ZnO thin films were improved at the radio frequency power of 300 W. Moreover, the optical properties of the ZnO thin films were improved with porous silicon, instead of Si.  相似文献

The present work aims at investigating the effects that different levels of Nd atoms incorporation can have on the microstructure and chemical structure of ZnO thin films. Undoped and Nd-doped ZnO films were deposited by RF co-sputtering from pure ZnO and metallic Nd targets in Ar plasma onto Si, quartz and glass substrates. The Nd concentration in the ZnO host matrix was varied in the range 0–26 at.% by varying the bias applied to the Nd target. A comprehensive characterization of the films properties was performed by X-ray photoelectron and Auger electron spectroscopies, X-ray fluorescence analysis, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. At low Nd atomic concentration (Nd/Zn < 0.07) Nd atoms were successfully incorporated into the ZnO matrix, whose crystalline structure was preserved. A deterioration of the ZnO würtzite phase was observed on the contrary with increasing Nd content in the films together with the precipitation of a second phase, identified as Nd2O3.  相似文献

A RF magnetron sputter system was used to deposit lithium niobate (LiNbO3) thin films on (1 1 1)-oriented Si substrates. An optimal sputtering condition with RF power of 100 W, Ar/O2 ratio of 1 and substrate temperature of 575 °C was investigated. The smallest surface roughness of 6.0 nm for the deposited LiNbO3 was measured using atomic force microscopy. The crystallinity was examined by low angle X-ray diffractometer. Using the SOPRA GES5 spectroscopic ellipsometer, the associated refractive index and extinction coefficient as a function of wavelength were measured. High optical performance with crystallinity structure of the deposited LiNbO3 thin films was demonstrated.  相似文献

Non-polar ZnO thin films were deposited on m-plane sapphire substrates by pulsed laser deposition at various temperatures from 300 to 700 °C. The effects of growth temperature on surface morphology, structural, electrical, and optical properties of the films were investigated. All the films exhibited unique m-plane orientation indicated by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Based on the scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy, the obtained films had smooth and highly anisotropic surface, and the root mean square roughness was less than 10 nm above 500 °C. The maximum electron mobility was ~18 cm2/V s, with resistivity of ~0.26 Ω cm for the film grown at 700 °C. Room temperature photoluminescence of the m-plane films was also investigated.  相似文献

This study was to investigate anodic electrode IZTO films deposited by pulsed DC magnetron sputter at room temperature with various oxygen partial pressures onto glass substrate and to analyze the structural, electrical, and optical properties, as well as the relationship between the chemical binding state of the surface and the characteristics of IZTO films. In addition, the prepared IZTO films were used to fabricate the organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) as an anode layer to study the device performances. The IZTO film deposited at optimal oxygen partial pressure of 2.0% in sputtering process showed the best properties, such as a low electrical resistivity and high optical transmittance of <5.1 × 10?4 Ω cm and >80% in the visible wavelength of 400–800 nm, respectively. The OLED characteristics with the optimum condition showed good brightness and the lowest turn-on voltage of >10,000 cd/m2 and 4.67 V. These results indicate that IZTO films can be a promising candidate as an alternative TCO electrode material for flexible and OLED devices.  相似文献

Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films were deposited on glass substrates by RF sputtering system at different sputtering pressure (SP) (20–34 mTorr) and room temperature. The sputtering pressure effects on the deposition rate, electro-optical and structural properties of the as-deposited films were systematically investigated. The optimum sputtering pressure of 27 mTorr, giving a good compromise between electrical conductivity and optical transmittance was found to deposit films. The films were heat-treated in vacuum (200–450 °C) and their electro-optical and structural properties investigated with temperature. A criterion factor Q, which is the ratio between the normalized average transmission to normalized resistivity was defined. It has been observed that Q has its maximum value for heat treatment at 400 °C and the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis proves the films have preferred crystal growth towards (2 2 2) direction and average size of grains are 35–40 nm.  相似文献

TiO2 and TiO2:Nd thin films were deposited using reactive magnetron sputtering process from mosaic Ti–Nd targets with various Nd concentration. The thin films were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and spectroscopic techniques. Photoluminescence (PL) in the near infrared obtained upon 514.5 nm excitation was also examined. The relationship between the Nd concentration, structural, optical and photoluminescence properties of prepared thin films was investigated and discussed. XRD and TEM measurements showed that an increase in the Nd concentration in the thin films hinders the crystal growth in the deposited coatings. Depending on the Nd amount in the thin films, TiO2 with the rutile, mixed rutile–amorphous or amorphous phase was obtained. Transmittance measurements revealed that addition of Nd dopant to titania matrix did not deteriorate optical transparency of the coatings, however it influenced on the position of the fundamental absorption edge and therefore on the width of optical band gap energy. All TiO2:Nd thin films exhibited PL emission that occurred at ca. 0.91, 1.09 and 1.38 μm. Finally, results obtained for deposited coatings showed that titania with the rutile structure and 1.0 at.% of Nd was the most efficient in VIS to NIR photon conversion.  相似文献

ZnO films deposited on glass, quartz and Al on silicon mono-crystal Si (100) substrates by using the wire explosion technique were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–VIS spectroscopy, scanning electron (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements. X-ray diffraction measurements have shown that ZnO films are mainly composed of (100), (002) and (101) orientation crystallites. The post-deposition thermal treatment at 600 °C temperature in air has shown that the composite of Zn/ZnO film was fully oxidized to ZnO film. The XRD spectra of the film deposited in oxygen atmosphere at room temperature present high intensity dominating peak at 2h = 36, 32° corresponding to the (101) ZnO diffraction peak. The small fraction of the film (7%) corresponds to the (002) peak intensity at 2h = 34, 42°. This result indicates the good crystal quality of the film and hexagonal wurtzite-type structure deposited by zinc wire explosion. The optical absorption spectra shows the bands at 374, 373 and 371 nm corresponding to deposition conditions. The SEM analysis shows that ZnO films presented different morphologies from fractal network to porous films depending on deposition conditions. AFM analysis revealed the grain size ranges from 50 nm to 500 nm. The nanoneedles up to 300 nm in length were found as typical structures in the film. It was demonstrated that the wire explosion technique is a feasible method to produce ZnO crystalline thin films and nanostructures.  相似文献

Tetrapod-like ZnO nanostructures were fabricated on ZnO-coated sapphire (001) substrates by two steps: pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and catalyst-free thermal evaporation process. First, the ZnO films were pre-deposited on sapphire (001) substrates by PLD. Then the ZnO nanostructures grew on ZnO-coated sapphire (001) substrate by the simple thermal evaporation of the metallic zinc powder at 900 °C in the air without any catalysts. The pre-deposited ZnO films by PLD on the substrates can provide growing sites for the ZnO nanostructures. The as-synthesized ZnO nanostructures were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR). The results show that the tetrapod-like ZnO nanostructures are highly crystalline with the wurtzite hexagonal structure. Photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of as-synthesized nanostructures exhibits a UV emission peak at ~ 389 nm and a broad green emission peak at ~ 513 nm. In addition, the growth mechanism of ZnO nanostructures is also briefly discussed.  相似文献

This study deals with tailoring of the surface morphology, microstructure, and electrochemical properties of Sn thin films deposited by magnetron sputtering with different deposition rates. Scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy are used to characterize the film surface morphology. Electrochemical properties of Sn thin film are measured and compared by cyclic voltammetry and charge–discharge cycle data at a constant current density. Sn thin film fabricated with a higher deposition rate exhibited an initial discharge capacity of 798 mAh g?1 but reduced to 94 mAh g?1 at 30th cycle. Film deposited with lower deposition rate delivered 770 mAh g?1 during 1st cycle with improved capacity retention of 521 mAh g?1 on 30th cycle. Comparison of electrochemical performances of these films has revealed important distinctions, which are associated with the surface morphology and hence on rate of deposition.  相似文献

LiCoO2 thin films were fabricated on Al substrate by direct current magnetron sputtering method. The effects of Ar/O2 gas rates and annealing temperatures were investigated. Crystal structures and surface morphologies of the deposited films were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Raman scattering spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The as-deposited LiCoO2 thin films exhibited amorphous structure. The crystallization starts at the annealing temperature over 400 °C. However, the annealed films have the partially disordered structure without completely ordered crystalline structure even at 600 °C annealing. The electrochemical properties of the LiCoO2 films were investigated by the charge–discharge and cycle measurements. The 500 °C annealing film has the highest capacity retention rate of 78.2% at 100th cycles.  相似文献
